I loved them both. The filet was 4oz, but with all the bread and appetizer I had prior to that, it was the right size for me. They also brought us a dessert plate that says Happy Anniversary. Let me start by saying the service was great. We ordered filet off the devour menu and it came with mashed potatoes and green beans. There was so much "char" on the outside of the steak I could only take a few bites. The green beans- they had black char from the grill on them as well. Had reservations at Sullivan's but didn't know they were closed due to a fire. They posted on their door that Eddie Merlot's is a fine steakhouse and is accepting Sullivan's gift cards. We figured we'd give it a shot. Service was great, Shyanna explained things to us. She didn't rush us, we had a lovely time. She suggested the filet pot stickers, which had a nice chile sauce on them. She also recommended the Brussels sprouts which were very good too. We had a ribeye and the New Orleans plate. Everything was cooked to perfection. The ribeye had more of a char on the outside, which I wasn't fond of, but the inside was a perfect medium rare. Oh the fresh warm bread was too good! Also the Caesar salad was the best I've had in a long time! Cocktails and wine were nice. Our experience at Eddie Merlot's was so fun! They set us up with a table that allowed privacy and was great for a date night. The staff treated us with care and helped guide us through the menu. Update on Eddie Merlots....We were invited back for Second chance and we went on Easter Sunday for their brunch and it was amazing. The carved filet with the Diane sauce was incredible. Raw oysters and Ahi Tuna ( yes please) they were great. The banana fosters was the bast I have ever had and I am a banana fosters connoisseur The manager that I spoke to originally was Madelyn and she was and has been so kind, helpful and accommodating . She constantly checked on us during brunch and made sure we were good. The GM Hal came to the table at the end to talk to us and he was so very kind and helpful. It was super busy today and I appreciate the time they took, the attitude and professionalism they maintained and the second chance they offered us because it was an amazing experience this time. Only our second visit here, but first for the Easter Brunch. The dining room was extremely chilly. I was fortunate I had a sport coat on, but my wife and daughter didn't have a wrap with them. Heard neighboring tables comment on the temp as well. Some of the food was delicious, some not so much. The omelette station and banana fosters station were superb. My daughter enjoyed the oysters and my wife the salmon. Bit thenfilet mignion and jam, not so much. Both were overcooked and dry. Many of the lids where the warm food was served were broken and missing handles. I don't know how you justify putting out that kind of equipment and expect people to struggle to get to things and be okay with that. Service was fine during the meal. She kept the table clear and glasses full. But we waited over 30 minutes for our check after we told her we were ready for it. So some delicious items, some not so delicious and some we never got to try because we couldn't access them. For what we paid, I expected much better than what we got. read more

We've been here many times but just this year we realized that you can buy 2 $50 digital gift cards for $80 so saving $20 but hey $20 bucks is $20 bucks. I had the Wagyu filet. It was soooooo amazing. Hubby got the Wagyu ribeye but it was too fatty, greasily & 2 sliver skin running thru so sent it back & ordered the Wagyu filet. We came here to celebrate our engagement, and it was just okay, nothing super special. Our server was a gem; she was super attentive, funny, and professional. There was practically no one there so we got waited on and seated very quickly. The appetizers were our favorite part. We got the beef dumplings and the corn and lobster bisque. The bisque was probably my favorite I've ever had. I ordered a filet mignon cooked medium, and it came out extremely rare. I had to send it back to get cooked longer, which I never like to do at restaurants. I do, though, highly recommend the mashed potatoes and mushrooms! The Northside/Keystone area lost a few fine dining standards like The Keystone Grille and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse, however Eddie Merlot's remains. Our food (and there was a lot of it, with a table of 6) was delicious. Usually Eddie Merlot's Indianapolis 96th St. location would earn a strong 5-star rating. This particular Saturday night in late September was extremely busy. There were several birthday celebrations. Our server was excellent and kept our host from getting antsy about the pace of the meal. The calamari came out in a timely manner. The main course--this time it took longer than their standard. Thankfully the main course was delicious; we were ravenous and our host was tired of bread, calamari and drinks. The manager came by several times. The birthday girl wanted Bananas Foster, a house favorite, prepared table side. Love Love Love the wine list here. (Even though Coopers Hawk, a wine-oriented restaurant is next door, order wine at Eddie Merlot's). Their list is extensive and there are some standouts not offered at every Northside steakhouse. I was a little nervous about going based on the most recent reviews, but our experience was absolute perfection. I consider myself a bit of a wedge salad connoisseur, and this was easily one of the best I've ever had. That was followed by the best filet I've ever had, and I've had many from competing restaurants. We finished with the peanut butter cup dessert. This was one of the best Father's Day lunches that we've had in sometime. The food was absolutely delicious. We arrived and was immediately seated. My husband was acknowledged for Father's Day as water and bread was brought to our table. The ambiance was very welcoming, it has such a historical feel. It's really pretty with a ancient vibe. Our reservation was at 2p so we beat the crowd, they made us feel like we had private dining. Our server Evelyn was so sweet, knowledgeable and professional. We were a party of 8 (4 couples.). We sat in a long table in the bar. Chairs were extremely comfortable. Keyboard player/ singer was outstanding and took requests. Ambiance was 5 stars. Server was kind and attentive. We all had the $99 meal for 2. Food was just average. I had the filet and my husband had the strip. The steaks were reminiscent of Ponderosa (2-3 stars). Definitely not high quality. We had filet potstickers (3 stars) and sweet and spicy shrimp (4 stars). Grilled asparagus (4 stars). Salmon entree (4 stars). Mashed potatoes (3 stars). Creamed spinach (5 stars!). We would return for the ambience. But would never order a steak here again unless the steaks on the regular menu are completely different. read more

So with all that said-- I must say the food was mediocre at best. I would not have called the NY strip actually a steak. I've had lower expectations on the road at a Waffle House with better results. The Mashed Potatoes were warm to the point, that it couldn't melt the pad of butter. Lobster was over cooked to the point of dry. We went in as a group of 8 plus a toddler in a high chair today for a late lunch, and we had a phenomenal time!! Our server Jolean was fantastic and made the experience so enjoyable. Everyone loved their meals, the bread is so fresh, and you cannot leave without trying the peanut butter cup or crème brûlée desserts. The manager Jimmy had incredible wine recommendations too. Alright on a regular night I love this restaurant. Great service wonderful vibe but this is a buffet review. Husband and I went for the Easter buffet and I'm assuming because it's a good assumption that the food would be just as delicious as it normally is. I mean it's the same restaurant. I hate to report back that it was not. The meats that's at the carving station is ice cold. They were actively telling people they don't have to close the lids to the serving trays (even though that's how you keep the food warm). I was really disappointed by this visit especially since it was $74 per person but that wasn't $74 quality worth of food. The best thing I had was my water and my Barry white martini. I'll be back for regular dinner but I wouldn't give them my money on a special occasion service like the Easter brunch. read more

The rest of the party got two turkey dinners. The picture that the restaurant has online was completely different than what they got served. They didn't get gravy or cranberry relish. This was our first time here. Parking was easy, right in front of the restaurant. We had reservations and got right in, the restaurant is very clean and nice. Drinks were good, I had the blueberry mojito and my husband had the old fashioned. Steaks tasted fantastic, both of ours were slightly over cooked, but not worth fussing to send back. The service was the biggest complaint of the night. Our server seemed rushed the whole night, which was weird since the restaurant was not super full? Before we were done eating she brought the check, it seemed like she was needing to go home, but that wasn't the case since she took a table after us. This place has gone down hill over the past years. The wait staff has inadequate training and the food is subpar. Id much rather have spent my money at texas roadhouse. I ordered the prime ribeye, the cook and sear were great but there was zero flavor, the creamy horseradish tasted like sour cream with a hint of horseradish, peppercorn sauce was also bland, baked potato was swimming in butter. I barely got any refills on my coke. The french onion soup was spot on, the potstickers were okay since the pastry was kind of doughy. We had to ask for bread when our entre got served. Our waitress never once cleaned off the tables from crumbs or anything, not that there were many since we got our bread at the end. We had to box our own food. We've been coming to this location for 7 years and we will not be returning. Waste of $270. Bill was $222, i didnt take out the lack of flavor on the waitress. Upon arrival she asked if we'd dined there before (we had) and were we celebrating (we were). No mention of a complementary glass of bubbly or a dessert to celebrate our anniversary. Why did she ask? If you try it out some of the side rooms are more cozy. We were sat in the main dining area where the hostess felt the need to pull out the table as if she were pulling out a chair. While sweet, it was awkward. The music could have been more appropriate. While I love Fleetwood Mac, America, and Steely Dan, I was wanting something like Michael Buble and the Rat Pack crooners. My husband and I have a date night once a month. We take turns picking the place, and this time it was my turn. I am the queen of Yelp and Google Reviews to do my research. And the reviews barely touch how great this place was! I wish I could remember the young lady who greeted us, but it began there! She let us know (by her actions) that we were in for a fantastic experience. After being seated, less than 3 minutes, we were introduced to Simon, what I can only describe as concierge, not waiter. Simon literally picked out our whole meal. From our wine, main course, desserts, and coffee. The ONLY thing we picked was the appetizer (calamari), and that's because I had my eye on it when we were first handed our menus. The manager came to the table at the appropriate time. Not when we both had a mouth full of food. (I hate that) And even after we paid, the same young lady had not lost her sparkle. Again, I hate that I can't remember her name. The food was delicious!!! Gorgeous classy and relaxed dining, top tier beverage sips, and overall refined steakhouse experience, us three guys enjoyed a Tuesday masters degree celebration at the bar tabletop here. Alex was fantastic and took care of us throughout the evening, which upon learning she's been here for seven years, all makes sense! My Rye Tiki cocktail was phenomenal, I always default to the thing with passion fruit and my rule did right with that liquid dream shaken not stirred. I recommend the bourbon for the more serious fellows of the Irish persuasion and the ruby red spritz for those wanting to stay sober. Thankfully we were not hungry since the main menu does live up to the overall elevated ceiling and exquisite decor of the main dining room. We noticed all of the main meats begin in the fifties. Would expect anyone going for courses to need a thick wallet indeed, which for the well-trained executive is all part of the fun, but for the uninitiated quite the surprise, so the bar! I really wanted to try elk or bison but as we were not that famished or holding inheritance the happy meal bites served. I noticed they were literally bites, nibbled and they disappeared clean off the plates. The Ahi and filet mignon happy meal apps were tasty albeit as usual with appetizers the calorie count is well under the prices. I would like to see a broader bar menu Fleming's style that lines up with the casual hungry game watching. My buddies sampled the prime steak burger and lobster mac and cheese, can easily vouch for the burger since I think I saw it for minute. Tried the lobster Mac, wow, possibly the best out of rounded comparisons from Red Seven in my own city to besting even the smug dishes at Ocean Prime and Flemings. RIP. I sure do miss Flemings!
