We hadn't been to this location in a year we will drive extra to go to the Fort Myers one and Jordan our bartender there is fabulous knowledgeable and the food is always perfect. This location that can't even serve a good bread basket! My husband's steak was undercooked, my friend's steaks was overcooked. The bread was cold and stale and the sale roll is different than every other position from here to Michigan! The au gratin was dry and sucked. They honored our special day the moment we walked in, with a warm greeting and anniversary wishes and with decor and a card at our table. Our server Anna was wonderful! We recently had lunch here with our financial advisor for a business meeting, and it was an excellent choice. We requested a circular booth, which provided great privacy and was perfect for conversation. Our waiter was outstanding-professional, attentive and very aware of when to step in and when to give us space. We all started with a bowl of New England clam chowder, which was loaded with clams and wonderfully rich and creamy. The menu fits the upscale decor perfectly and the food overall is top notch. I ordered the burger and loved it-especially the caramelized onions, which added a sweet flavorful touch to a juicy, satisfying burger. The guys ordered steaks, and everything was cooked perfectly. The Capital Grill is definitely expensive, however it is well worth it. This was one of the best lunches I've had in a while, and the service was excellent. Everything was timed perfectly, with soup arriving first and entrees following seamlessly. Reservations are strongly encouraged, especially for dinner, though you probably will be able to walk in for lunch. When my wife and I went into the Capitol Grille on Sarasota, we were greeted, but not so warmly or welcomely by the receptionist. She took us to our seat and our waiter came over again. I don't know what it is about that place, but he was not friendly either. He never broke a straight face. Never smiled never really greeted us in the way you would expect from a four or five star restaurant. We ordered our meals and they were low to mediocre at best. My wife's steak was probably 640% grizzle. And only warm when she got it. My meal was OK but the chicken fillet was about the size of a hockey puck which seem small to me. The Capital Grille is worth every penny you spend there. They cook their burgers and steaks perfectly, and the service is always top notch. Every single server knows the menu frontwards and backwards, and they will help you figure out what you would enjoy the most. Our most recent server was Daniel, and he is awesome. My wife and I had a rare moment where we craved the same thing for dinner- we both wanted a juicy cheeseburger. Well, The Capital Grille was right nearby and we stopped in, knowing the burgers are awesome there as I have eaten there several times, at other locations. Well, we were both a little bummed to see that burgers are not on the dinner menu, so my wife asked if that was the case and Daniel said "They're not on the dinner menu, but of course we can make you some burgers". The burgers came out and my wife's was cooked (well done) to her delight, and mine (rare) to mine! Hmmm...so much better the last time we were here and even from other locations. Hubby and I both ordered the filet...my filet was medium well (some pink) and his was medium. Both our first few bites were very dry...needed some juices to make it better. It improved a little once I got to the middle but it certainly was not worth the price. Very disappointed from our favorite steak place. I was not "wow'd" like I should have been. Creamed corn was my favorite side. Thought the scalloped potatoes were also a bit dried out and probably sat too long. Luckily our server Nancy was excellent. She added to a pleasant dining experience. The basket of bread is always a winner...especially the black bread. Squash soup was good but not the best I have had. My mother has been enduring some medical treatments so as a special treat we went to the Sarasota Ballet and then out to a mid-afternoon lunch at one of her favorite restaurants, the Capital Grille. She was specifically craving their Wagyu beef burger with the Duckhorn wine pairing. This is a special available in the lounge. We were thrilled that there was a lowered seating for two in the bar area, which was just right for her to be able to sit and enjoy the meal. The main attendant, Salvatore, was wonderfully friendly and attentive. His two helpers were equally nice. They made sure my mom felt special and cared for. Mom had the Wagyu beef burger with fries, while I had the salmon with green beans. Both dishes were cooked beautifully. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. The ambience is upscale, yet comfortable, warm and inviting. Service is very attentive. We sat at a high top bar table this visit, and it is a little small if you're ordering dinner, but we ordered family style and shared everything. The bone-in ribeye with porcini rub and balsamic glaze is phenomenal. We ordered sides of buttery rich mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. The mashed potatoes were so good! Have not been here is a long while. I am happy to say nothing has changed. The service is first class from start to finish. We were in a small room with 4 other tables so the atmosphere was very nice. We started with the calamari which was good, but just had too many peppers for my taste (personal preference). I got the onion soup and it was outstanding. Lots and lots of cheese and the onions were so good. I got the 8oz stake and my wife got the scallops and risotto with lobster. Cooked and seasoned perfect. We shared the potatoes au gratin which were just off the chart good. Service was well below average and it was pretty slow for a Friday night. Watched our server fawn over a 4 top most of the evening while we spent over 2 hours at our table waiting for everything. We've had better service at the Waffle House. When you spend $300 for a dinner for 2 then the server should at least let you know his name and you shouldn't not have to ask for it. We ate half of our app and said we would like to take the rest home with us. He puts it in a bag and sat the bag on top of the table. There it sat for the rest of the meal. Empty glassware wasn't removed. Had to flag him down at the end of the night to give him my credit card. Very disappointing to say the least. Shouldn't feel like I was doing our server a favor by letting him wait on us. Food was way over seasoned. Too much salt. We were there as a party of six to celebrate my wife's birthday and on the very last day of the Taste of UTC. Let's start with the outstanding service we received from our server, Jesus. He provided the perfect amount of attention so that all our needs -- and wants -- were met during our dining experience. My wife had the Sea Bass and she declared it the best she has ever had at any restaurant. High Praise, indeed. I shared the Porcini Rubbed Bone in Ribeye with one of my friends and it was -- as always -- a great choice. We shared a couple of shrimp cocktails, and they were perfectly sized and prepared and the sauce was just the right amount of spicy. The men opened the night enjoying Capital Grille's signature cocktail, The In Fashion. Well done! The ladies shared a bottle of The Auctioneer Cabernet from Napa. A fine choice recommended by Jesus. I had brought a special bottle for the celebration and Jesus graciously waived the corkage fee for us. A VERY nice touch. Finally, despite some of the entre sharing we had done, Jesus provided us each with mini cheesecakes to go. Went to Capital Grille for Thanksgiving Turkey dinner. I could not believe how disappointed we were based on our turkey entree holiday dinner. First food arrived was not hot enough ay best luke warm, second I think the turkey was undercooked and didn't come from a fresh carved bird. Side dishes were very small and had to ask for more. TLDR: I've frequented a number of Capital Grille's over the years throughout FL (this was even my second time having Thanksgiving dinner at one). This past Thanksgiving was the best experience I've had, not to say the others weren't great, I really just don't have any critiques for my visit. MUST HAVES: Lobster Mac, Parmesan truffle fries, steak tartar, lobster and crab cake TSWM: the truffle fries were fantastic, not too greasy and a very powerful truffle flavor (don't get them if you don't want to get smacked in the face with truffles *in a good way*). The lobster and crab cake, which is half eaten in the photo whoops, had very little filler ingredients and was heavy on the lobster. The salmon was light and flaky and the lobster Mac was creamy and well seasoned. The party at my table that went the more traditional route and had the turkey dinner for Thanksgiving really enjoyed the meal Would for their meal really enjoyed it too, so don't sleep on this place if you don't feel like cooking for Thanksgiving! read more

A few weeks ago I visited with two friends and customers. I had been to this location many times in the past and had an incredible experience in the bar! This was not the same! First of all the ladies room was horrific and when I went to the hostess stand with three people there they did not even react when I told them of the conditions WOW We then sat down at a high top at the bar and at the table next to us the woman chose to put her feet up on the high top chair next to us. Here we were looking at the bottom of shoes and up her skirt. I having been friends with the top managing member of Eddie Vs for decades went back to what he has always shared, the manager of a great restaurant wants to know!
