I loved this hotel! Luckily my expectations weren't too high after reading the reviews, but this hotel deserves more than 3.5 stars. It's adorably decorated, clean, friendly staff, bikes on site, and just a fun place! There are no frills, but it's very quaint. I would recommend it if you can find a good deal. Especially if you love Palm Springs style. We paid a premium because of the holiday weekend, but I heard the price can get down to under $100 a night which is a steal. Highly recommend! read more

I stayed here two years ago and loved it, so I booked it last week for a girls trip hoping we'd have a similar experience like last time. This did not happen. A couple weeks before arriving, they informed us that the pool would be closed while we were there. While we were not happy about this, we understood and figured we'd use their pool at their "sister property" and just enjoy the rest of their amenities. But when we got there, not only was the pool closed but the whole area was gutted for a complete overhaul renovation. Construction was noisy bright and early that next morning, and there was nowhere to sit/hang out other than our room. I was annoyed with the noise and lack of heads up but asked if they still had the same amenities from last time we stayed (free breakfast, snacks, old VHS tapes and VCR for nostalgia sake). To which they informed me that due to the cost of construction, they had to cut back on all of those things which seemed like a silly answer. The best time to provide things like that is during a construction period as sort of a gesture/apology for the inconvenience. Why would you cut back on it??? Once in the room, it was quite bare, no extras. TV had maybe 4 channels on it. About an hour after checking in, I got a call from the front desk on my cell phone that there was a noise complaint from someone below us. We had been sitting on our balcony with jazz music playing and laughing and talking at 8:30 PM. Had a few qualms with this. One, it's 8:30 in the evening, not 3 AM in the morning. Maybe scope it out to see how valid the complaint is before calling? Two, given that you are providing the bare minimum in services/amenities, maybe let this one slide. And then I wondered why they were calling me on my cell phone when I realized there was no stationary phone in the room. Isn't there always supposed to be a phone in the room for emergencies? We requested a late checkout and figured there'd be no issues, since we had seen maybe 3 people there since we arrived. They gave us an extra 30 mins which seemed a little silly. And while my girlfriend packed up the car, she overheard a conversation from two members of the staff talking negatively about a guest asking for late checkout and saying she had only given them an extra 30. When my girlfriend spoke up that she was talking basically about us, she explained that she was talking about another guest. Whether that was true or not, probably shouldn't be talking about any guest that way. I had very fond memories of this place when we stayed two years ago. The staff had been very kind, breakfast was tasty. We had a blast at the pool and made some new friends. But I really think they should just temporarily close until their renovations are done as this experience was sorely lacking this time around. read more

Name should be changed to CRAPRI. Nightmare experience and manager is a hostile d.b.. We booked one night at the suggestion of a family member who lives in Ojai. I have severe health problems, so being able to go out of town even for the night is a big deal to us. There were six of us - our two kids, our niece and nephew, my husband and I, and our small well-mannered dog. The only room that would accommodate us all was something called the Family Suite. Two queen beds in one room and bunk beds in a small adjoining room. We weren't expecting the Ritz, but the swamp coolers (that's right - NO central A/C) on the wall didn't put out any cold air in both rooms. It was 104 outside and the room was an oven. By 10:30 pm, it was still 90 degrees and literally cooler outside than it was in the sauna-like rooms. I went down to front desk to see what could be done. A very nice, but fearful girl had to consult via text to the surly, rude and extremely inhospitable manager, Chris. His suggestion, "give 'em a fan." The desk clerk said she wouldn't stay in a room that hot, took pity on us and gave us her only remaining room with working air. However it wouldn't fit us all, so two of us had to "sleep" in the sauna room. No one slept well regardless of the heat. The hard, thin mattresses were ancient and squeaky. The room with the working a/c had no automatic setting, so you either froze or melted. All of us wanted to shower the next day, but of course, there were only two, tiny hand-towels replete with holes - no shower size towels. Clocks didn't work in either room. Any reputable hotel would've bent over backwards to accommodate us, but not Chris. He had the nerve to actually charge us which we have disputed with our credit card company. Hopefully, this posting will help save you from the same nightmare at the crappiest hotel/motel/hovel in Ojai. read more

I recently saw Yelp deal for the Capri Motel in Ojai. $25 for $50. I read all the restrictions then I looked on the Capri Motel website to see how much the rooms were. Since I didn't see a place to put a coupon code on the reservations page, I called The Motel and spoke to a girl Breanna. I asked how I used the yelp deal, and she said hold on, let me check with the manager then came back on the phone and told me to just to book it online and bring in the Yelp deal and they'll adjust the price for me. OK. So I bought the yelp deal. Otherwise the room was 139.99 for a saturday, excluding taxes. When I checked in to the hotel this plast Saturday, the girl at the front Desiree said that to use the Yelp deal, I had to book it by calling in. not online. They could not use my Yelp deal. WTF. I said that's not what i was told. She said that the girl who gave me that information was fired and that she didn't know anything. Um, how is this my fault. I was given specific information, was not told to book with her and now I'm getting assed out?! I asked to speak to the owner and she said she'll speak to him and get back to me. She was a total bi**** making me feel like it's my fault for talking to an idiot of a girl they hired (at least had the sense to fire) and getting that information. Excuse me sorry. So we went out to dinner and she never got back to me so I went in after we got back and she said sorry the manager said no. WTF. I asked when he was going to be in and she said the next morning. This place is an old motel and they slapped on some paint and got some new furniture. You can tell it's falling apart, but they didn't do a bad job renovating it. But to charge $139.99 for room here? Overpriced and ridiculous. There's no amenities, nothing. You're on your own. The next morning, I found the owner Christopher at the front desk and this is what he said: because the booking system is online and managed by another company, he couldn't use my Yelp deal. He can't go back and adjust the price because it's out of his hand. At least his explanation made more sense then the chick the night before "No" was what I got. But nonetheless, I was pissed off because I was spending $150 for a room. what a waste of money. He said I can use the deal for next time, um, i wasn't really planning on coming back to Ojai!!! I asked for a comped room next time and he said he'll just "hook it up" meaning prob another horrible deal or whatever that means. Who knows. I stayed here in March 2013. I loved this boutique hotel's decor; the property was stylish and had a good location and nice lobby. However, the staff was RUDE and absolutely could not care less about me as a customer/guest. I feared even venturing toward the lobby because two of the employees had created a hostile environment. I am an avid traveler (domestic and abroad) and I have never experienced something like that before. My friend and I were appalled. Oh, and there were (blood?) spots on a sheet and dirty spots on a towel. It's too bad that the fun and creative ambiance was ruined by the staff. Would not return. This past weekend, my boyfriend and I took a 2 day trip up to Ojai. We were looking for a cool place to stay, and didn't need many of the frills that the other hotels in town offer. The Capri Motel was PERFECT! It's charming, simple, and low key. We had one large, comfortable king bed, a patio, and a simple and cute room with some quirks. i.e, five harrison ford movies on vhs, and some literature in the closet. Cute. I was also impressed that they offered Zhena's Gypsy Tea in their "mini snack bar". I had heard it was the best in town, and it was there waiting for me upon check in! There is also a chill cat who will hang out with you! He's adorable and it was so pleasant seeing him around the motel! All nonsense aside, we spent the weekend around town, and the Capri was close to everything, which was super convenient. It was easy to go back and change, or hang out for a bit, before our next adventure. It is very quiet here, and although I read that the walls were thin, we had a very relaxing and quiet two days here. The rooms are perfectly set up, a bed, desk, chaise lounge, hardwood floors, and good lighting. Plenty of walking room and space to have our things without feeling crammed. The rooms and grounds of this place are simplistically designed and very clean. I can't believe people are reviewing this place to look even a little seedy, not at all! After our weekend stay at the Capri, we have definitely agreed to come back soon, as we love Ojai, and this quirky cute motel made our visit just perfect! 5 stars for excellent staff, great clean rooms, and fun little quirks here and there! Moldy, nasty, unfriendly to the point of just being.....welll.....let me just say that the front desk receptionist nodded off when I was asking her questions about the hotel. It was as if she was on drugs. I don't know that she actually was, but it seems like something was going on. The room was bizarrely decorated with what appeared to be garage sale crap. Way better than I expected! After looking at a ton of places online for my first trip to Ojai, I chose the Capri because 1) it was the most reasonably priced, 2) it doesn't require a two-night stay like many of the places in Ojai, and 3) it has decent Yelp reviews. Highlights: 1) The rooms are clean. The motel has been renovated, and they did a good job. I like the "Bee-Kind" products they have in the room. The beds were comfortable, the shower was a spacious stand-up shower with no tub (and this is probably better! Motel tubs are always so gross). The rooms have wooden floors and no carpet (also feels more sanitary). I found the room quiet enough - I couldn't hear my neighbors unless I was on the balcony. 2) There is a TV in the room that has a VHS. There were about four VHS's in the room to choose from, and a ton more at the front desk to rent for free. 3) All the rooms have a balcony (2nd floor) or patio (1st floor). 4) The pool is nice. There is a bigger pool, kiddie pool and hot tub. However, when I stuck my feet in the hot tub this morning, it wasn't heated. 5) There were two cabanas by the pool. They seemed to be free for the using, so if you needed to stay out of the sun, this was a nice choice. 6) They offer a free breakfast in the morning, but it's not great. Bagels, toast, waffles, instant oatmeal, yogurt. If you're gluten free, it's not the best breakfast choices. But seriously, who cares? It was perfect for a quick meal before heading out to yoga. Overall, a great choice for a place to crash while you're in Ojai. The way I see it, you either go big and stay at the resort in town, or you choose the Capri which is great bang for your buck for a clean and comfortable place to stay. read more

This place is a tragedy. I strongly advise caution. First impressions were great; from a pleasant, lovely receptionist to a clean, comfortable room but... And here is a HUGE but... After negotiating a rate for 2 nights both in person and then telephonically upon check in, I was arbitrarily charged a substantially overpriced rate for our second night without any attempt to communicate this rate change with me. I had to call 6 times (because getting someone to answer the phone at this place is impossible, this goes for trying to access their office for morning coffee for that matter) and leave 5 messages with my number each time and am yet to receive a call from the manager. When someone finally picked up I was told the most ridiculous line of lies to cover their asses and told I should go ahead and contest the charge with my credit card company. My overall impression was not just that this place is run with a sardonic disregard for customers but they resort to flat out fraudulent lying as opposed to admitting their errors. read more

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, that's it. I couldn't get the Wifi to work in my room and the shower water was lukewarm at best. When I asked the owner if he could give me a break in the price he told me that someone had just broken a window and he wasn't in the mood to be asked for discounts. "My hotel has hot water and the Wifi works!" he said. "Write a bad review." I agree with other reviews that this is an old hotel made to look hip. It seems overpriced, that's why I asked for a discount in the first place, especially since my wife was under the impression that there was a hot tub in the room when she made the reservation for me, and there wasn't. My back was hurting from a long day of work and I really was craving hot water. The owner could have a lesson in PR. I would have been happy with a, "I'm sorry, I'll look into the Wifi" or "Did you try turning it off and on again." I didn't really want to write this bad review, but the owner asked me to do it. Fun Boutique Motel in Ojai Came here because of a really decent Groupon deal. I was disappointed that the "free bottle of wine" is under $5 bottle at Trader Joe's but I was willing to look past it! I came here for a evening getaway with girlfriends and was very impressed by the size of the room and the awesome patio area, the pool, as well as the really cool retro feel! Complaints: the hot tub, in the evening, had NO lights and the girl on duty said "sorry that is just how it is" which sucked because we wanted to hot tub around 8:30 pm until close at 10... so that was lame I also thought that the motel room had colored lights INSIDE of the room, so for about 30 minutes my friends and I played around trying to figure it out, then we saw at night that the color changing lights were in fact outside lights. Spooky! We had a blast, they had a later check in than most places, and had all the amenities you would need from a hotel but in a cute boutique motel. Owner was very cool when checking out! I will come back again! I think the Groupon deal is done but they have a YELP deal!! YAY! read more

The Capri Hotel (um, motel) was quite a disappointment for the price tag.The bathroom is usually my indicator for the overall cleanliness of the room and boy, did it fail. Hard water stained tile, stained tub, dirty mirror, and the best of all, the longest damn pube I have ever seen. The rest of the room gave me a very used feel with a dented mini fridge, warped flooring, buttons missing off the chair, and wires hanging from the Tv. The grounds were a mess too, it hasn't looked like there has been maintenance in weeks with dog doo doo all over the back lawn area, black water in the fountain, privacy fencing falling off, and I could go on.. But where the hotel shined was with the great customer service we received, oh wait, that didn't happen either...very minimal, non-friendly hospitality from the front desk gal. It seems like this place was/could of been nice with the fresh remodel and an enthusiastic staff but over the years I feel that has been lost. Same with my repeat business. read more

My review is a tad tardy, but I had to share my experience. I hate leaving bad reviews, but in this case, sorry to say, they deserve it. Some companies just don't give a damn... Seriously, one of the BIGGEST let downs when it comes to a hotel. The groupon I purchased made it look so amazing. The pictures were beautiful, made it look like a five star boutique hotel. This was NOT the case. Here is why... Arrived on a Friday for one night. Tried to check in at 2pm, and the man working the front wasn't overly friendly or nice, he was just... monotone. He said the room would need twenty more minutes, so I told him okay, my man and I will be reading at the pool. Half an hour goes by- nothing. I go in inquiring if it was done, he said yes. Okay, thanks for letting us know. Jeez. The jacuzzi wasn't working- the ONE thing I was looking forward to most. The pool was filthy- I understand it was windy, but someone needs to clean that top layer. The room had Ikea Hack furniture which I thought was hilarious. No iron in the room, nor hair dryer. The bathroom was quickly repainted and you can see the paint rolls where it was done in a hurry. Not classy. There were two screws sticking out like they moved the towel holder down, and just left the past screws there. There were cobwebs outside on the light fixtures, it just wasn't clean. It was presentable enough to get by, but if you REALLY look closely, you'll notice it's not as wonderful as the pictures. DO NOT expect a call back if you make reservations. I finally made one after calling twice. I called twice a few days before to confirm we were set, and no one answered. I called again and was halfway leaving a message when someone picks up the phone. Were you seriously screening calls? Really? I didn't even take pictures of the room and THAT says a lot, it wasn't worth my time. This was not the same hotel I stayed at to deserve five stars- I want to know how I had such a gross experience. To cap this off, their customer service was nowhere compared to even giving it a star rating. I know it's a little harsh, but this was not a place I'd ever return to. I didn't actually stay here, but I feel like they hit me with a bait and switch which led me to choose another venue. An online deal from Voice Deal of the Day gave two nights at a promised price, all taxes/gratuity included, and in the fine print it said "weekends in May available". I called them to ask about vacancy for May, and let them know up front that I was planning on using this online promotion for a particular May weekend. They told me that there were vacancies but that since it was through the online deal it would be an extra $50, so they were just adding fees even though the deal was supposed to be all inclusive. The fine print for the promotion didn't mention any extra charges or exclusions like this, and I was told it was a "misunderstanding" but in the end it was just a shady bait and switch. read more

Dug it. We were actually supposed to stay somewhere else but our plans fell through, got a room at the last minute. Christopher totally saved the day for us! Clean rooms, comfy bed, nice pool, the price was right. I like how they remodeled it, good energy. Super dog friendly, my dog had a few other very nice dogs to play with as well. On principal, if a place doesn't allow dogs then I wouldn't want to stay there either. I will be back for sure. read more

Each winter, about 20 friends and I meet up for a weekend golf tournament. It's a chance for a bunch of buddies to get together, have a good time, and play some golf. The locations vary but are usually held somewhere in Southern California. This year, our destination was none other than Ojai, Ca. Selecting housing for twenty rowdy individuals on parole from their jobs, wives, and reality was no easy task. We needed somewhere that was classy, clean, but wouldn't break the bank. And although Ojai is a small town resembling something extracted from a classic horror film, we turned to The Capri. The Capri is as "hotel" as a motel can be. You could tell the owner, care takers, managers, etc really try to max out the potential of this place. From the moment you pull in, you'll notice its flooded with character. At a glance, it looks like a retro roller skate diner. But as you enter the lobby, you'll notice its modern feel and contemporary design. The same feel flows from the lobby into the rooms. Each room is accented with an off colored wall and contemporary furniture pieces. The flat screen TV and Pergo flooring really go a long way. Personally, I think they took their ambition a little too far with the lunch pails and MREs (Meal Ready to Eat) in each room. I say ditch all the toys and candy and stay classy San Diego! Considering the weather Ojai faces throughout the year, I could see how the elements could catch up. Although the vision is there, the place could use a little help. The bathrooms were a little weathered and the floors needed a tune-up. I say do it. The potential for this place is endlessl! The service received from the staff was excellent! Chris provided great prices and arranged a shuttle to transport our party to dinner. What a guy! We had a great time and our weekend was splendid. Looks like a thumbs up for next year! read more

Five stars but my room was comped, so I'm a little biased. The outside of this motel looks a little seedy but the rooms are very boutique-like. A white room with the higher-end Ikea furniture. The room I was in had wood-laminate flooring, and was perfectly symmetrical- a weird thing to point out but it was very pleasing to the eyes!! We had two queen beds with no bed bugs ( my friend checked), a large flat screen, mini-fridge, coffee pot, microwave, roomy desk, another and lots of walking room. I would recommend this room as an after party spot except the walls are kind of thin but otherwise, party on! There is a snack bar which came in handy since we were craving munchies- it was not a ripoff, which was nice. There were eco-friendly toiletries and a nice shower head in the bathroom. I like all the white furnitur and the clean look of the room. All in all a perfect spot for the weekend- the lobby downstairs has a new MAC computer that you can use along with a printer, lots of room to lounge and watch football, a fat grey cat that will let you pet him, and coffee all day long. They serve a complimentary continental breakfast which includes almond milk and nutella, and all-natural lemon scones. Nice. read more

Wow, wish I had since this Yelp deal they currently have... oh well. This place is.... weird. The best way to describe it is that it was a sketchy motel at some point, someone with some extra money bought it and tried to make it like a knock off version of an ACE hotel or something... but then they ran out of money and couldn't keep it updated so now it's like an ACE hotel in a ghost town with strange service and no towels and if you find a towel it's wet/moldy and if you want to use the jacuzzi it's cold and if you want to borrow a movie the tv doesn't work... you get the point. Looks cool, ended up odd. But whatever, it's a good deal for a place to stay for the night and walkable to downtown Ojai. read more

My bf and I loved the Capri Motel. Despite what the reviewers have said here, we liked Christopher's personality. He was easy, straight to the point and not fake. When we were chilling by the buddha meditation area, Christopher came by and plugged in the waterfall to help us get in zen mode. The decor/design is a bit quirky but I liked it and found it to be comfortable. I especially loved the HUGE swan in the pool. Too bad all the kids kept hogging it. Will be back in Sept! read more

Just got back from a wonderful 3-day trip to Ojai where my boyfriend and I stayed at the Capri. Listen folks, we like a bargain. But we like our luxury too! The Capri totally fit the bill.... it's a renovated motel, done up really well. they have the best pool in town, the jacuzzi....ooooh... the jacuzzi. so nice. Our room was great! We had a beautiful patio with a sunset view. I love that they have a grassy lawn with a tetherball pole. The manager Christopher is a great guy who had tons of tips on what to do around town - we felt like locals for just a few days at least. And he makes a damn good cup of coffee! It's situated perfectly right in downtown Ojai so you can ditch the car and have a lazy weekend relaxing and walking around town. So, it's no fancy resort spa, but it's a great place to stay and feel comfortable for your time in Ojai. It's clean, comfortable and a good value for a town that can get expensive to stay in. Staff was the WORST. So unfriendly and unaccommodating. Never said hi or asked us if they could help us with anything during our stay. You can tell they know absolutely nothing about the hospitality industry. Never even bothered to say thank you when we checked out. Ugh, total nightmare. Beds and pillows were terrible. Could barely get any sleep because of how hard they both were. Room had just a shower and no hair dryer. Our view from our balcony was a joke. Looked out on a unkept field with a bird bath whose water hadn't been changed in probably 5 years. The pool they didn't bother to have cleaned, so that was also an eyesore. The only I'm giving even 2 stars is because the location is good, just a short walk to the shops. We stayed here because we last minute decided to go to Ojai for a few days, and it was literally the only hotel left. I would have gladly stayed home and not wasted my money, had I known what a terrible experience I would have there. Breakfast is also a total joke: pop tarts and crappy coffee. Seriously, just avoid this horrible place with these horrible people. I've stayed in budget accommodations all over the world, and never have I had such a terrible experience. read more

One of the coolest motel's in Ojai, it has a cool retro vibe. Christopher is very accommodating and sweet! Rooms are well equipped: air conditioner, flat screen, dvd player, vhs player, blow dryer (ask front desk), and much more. The Capri Motel has a pool and a smaller pool for children. Dogs are allowed also! There is plenty of parking and its free. I would park at the motel and walk into downtown. This place has great potential and I dig the decor. When I go back to Ojai, I will definitely stay here and so should you! read more

Came to Ojai for the prestigious winter classic invitational and we stayed here at the Capri for the weekend. Oaji is a nice quiet little town that I would imagine this is what charming would look like. I was kind of waiting around to see if Jacks and the rest of the SOA where going to ride by. The Capri at first glance doesn't look like much, but the place is legit for a motel. Once you actually really check the place out you will notice that they have a pool and hot tub, a great grass area for a chipping contest and the rooms were pretty nice and decked out and had old school 70-80's feel to it. I get the sense that the owners and people running this motel take pride in it and really want to make an enjoyable experience for the people staying here. Overall I thought the Capri was a great place to stay at. The rooms were much better then anticipated and the price for a night was fair. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Mixed feelings. Depends on what your after. Let me explain.... vibe, cuteness, happy decor, a good pool - aces for the price (I paid $129 for a room on a weeknight). Here's where they feel short: at 8am they promise coffee and snacks in the lobby. They were closed until nearly 8:30 without apology. Coffee in the am matters a lot to me! And 8am was a late start in the first place. Lateness here is a big deal. The snacks were high fructose crap: pop tarts etc. 10am the front door to my room felt like an assault. Despite the Do Not Disturb sign I hung on my door knob they entered and caught my sweetie in the flesh. At the same time leaf blowers roared out my door creating a noise and dirt barrier between my room's door and my vehicle - weird thing to do to when check out is 11 and people must cross this threshold in order to leave. This said, if you want a bright cheery place, and I do, I would stay here. In fact I'd return myself. Just have no expectations on service details and know that their staff for housekeeping, lobby and room clean up won't be delicate with you like a higher end hotel. They're messy and quite frankly, annoying. read more

When we arrived he had no idea who I was or where the reservation was! Yes I used a yelp deal as most do at this place. Not sure about one of the other female staff. She mentioned she had a dog (I forget but I think it was jack russell terrier?) I said, "oh think those were bread originally for fox hunting." She refused that was the case. OK... The heated floors were nice. ipod player nice. Cable TV and books to read. Continental breakfast and waffle maker. Lots of dvd's to watch. The walls are thin, lots of noise here. The patio rooms are pretty sweet. If I had my choice, I'd try lots of other places in town after seeing the whole city. For the same money of course :) read more

This place is a gem. I recently brought a group here and we loved it! What I love about the Capri is that it's HIP and it's got everything you need for an awesome weekend away. What makes it hip and what I love is that there is artwork from Daniel Ash of Love and Rockets in the lobby and in each room, there's a big laughing Buddah in the garden and each room is lime green. The lobby is great for lounging and conversation and continental breakfast each morning. There are two clean pools, hot tub, BBQ, cabanas, private patios, a refrigerator and microwave in each room and you can bring your dog! Chris, the manager is a music guy with his gold records hanging discretely by the front desk. He adds character to this place in the best way. He's also attentive and accommodating. I was worried about it being on the main drag but there was virtually no noise since the main street is two lanes and we are walking distance to the shops. The decor is mid century modern and although, it's not the highest quality furniture the mattresses are hotel quality firm as are the linens hotel quality and most importantly everything is CLEAN. 3.5 stars and here's why: Pros: -- The manager, Chris, was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. -------- We booked a massage past our check-out time and Chris was kind enough to extend the check-out time for us. -- The room was above average. Pretty decor -- Free bike rental - yay! -- Complimentary breakfast -- small, but considering it's really a motel, I think a waffle-maker is better than most. -- Huge flat screen tv (that we didn't use that much) -- Lots of DVD/VHS rentals -- Pool was nice, a little dirty, seemed like it required more upkeep. There were also some cabanas that I didn't use because I wanted a tan. B) Cons: -- WiFi seemed a little sketchy. Maybe it's just me, though. -- Though the room itself was pretty, the floor was a little dirty. Weird. After a quick shower, I noticed the bottom of my feet were dark from the dirty floor. -- Free bike rental meant that the bikes are not in the best condition. All in all, this was a good experience. The motel is boutique-ish casual. The cat we met in the lobby found its way to our door and hung out in our room for a few minutes. The Pergo floors are nice. It's simple with a little eclectic flair. My wife and I like it. I liked the hipster guy at the front desk. We borrowed a DVD and watched a movie in our room. read more

Dishonest. We booked a livingsocial deal and they told us they would honor it even though there was an ownership change. After taking my credit card and information another person gets on the phone and informs us we will not honor the reservation. Why did you take my information?",I ask. No reply. They have always had a problem with service but at least before they honored the reservation; now they won't even do that. read more

Stayed at the Capri for 2 days recently and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and grounds. From the fresh fruit and DVD library in the lobby to the thoughtful amenities in our room (organic local juices and snacks, ipod dock, mini fridge), the Capri definitely exceeded our expectations. The rooms were comfy and well-appointed in vivid colors. The pool, cabanas and grounds are all kept tidy and clean! If I am to find my way back to Ojai again, I wouldnt hesitate to book with Capri Motel again. Thanks so much for your hospitality! read more

Clean, comfortable, fun, quirky and good location. We stayed in room 210, farthest away from the road and it was very quiet. Nice family friendly and pet friendly hotel with kiddy pool and entertainment options with the dvd/movie/game options. Small kitchenettes with various snack options. Wish they were more eco-friendly with less disposable plastics and single serve snacks, creamers being used in the continental breakfast bar as they advertise being green. Lobby area comfortable and would like to try their onsite spa services next time we visit! read more

The rooms are really nice. And the grounds and location were great. BUT the "heated" pool was not heated and the DVD player in our room didn't work and nothing was done about it even after I asked if someone could come check it out/fix it.....3 different times. In a nutshell, this motel that prides itself on customer service really has no "customer service" whatsoever. Be warned. read more

Adequate. Not great. As another reviewer mentioned below - and i don't know if this is true of all rooms, but it definitely was true of ours - the shower was very weird. First, it's a long shower with no real barrier at the bottom - just a very small lip. This wouldn't be a big deal if the shower had a door. But it doesn't - there's just a curtain. So you step in, but the shower head faces out toward the flimsy (torn & dirty btw) shower curtain, which means there is nothing keeping the water in, and it's nearly impossible not to flood the entire bathroom floor when you shower. This is especially inconvenient because there are no hooks in the bathroom - not even one - to hang clothes & towels on, so if you've left your clothes on the bathroom floor, now they're sodden. Our shower had a fold-down seat which I suppose makes it great for those with limited movement or disabilities, but the seat was moldy & filthy. Also - the beds are terrible. Usually I'm not even picky about that, and I can go to sleep just about anywhere... but these are creaky, stiff elderly spring mattresses that are impossible to sleep on. We didn't sleep well either night we were there. The lobby is very cute, which makes you think the hotel is gonna be quirky-fabulous - but it's not. Overall I thought it was way overpriced for something that felt more like a bargain hotel. I wouldn't stay here again. The only advantage is location - it is close to everything and very walkable from downtown Ojai. read more
