A pound of snow crab and egg and corn
    Joey Y.

I ordered a pound of snow crab and an egg and corn. I got the captain sauce which was bomb but the crab meat seemed like it's old and overcooked. The corn was dry and not juicy. The egg was just a regular hard boiled egg. For the lobster roll, it was good. If you don't like celery, you should ask for less! The service was great. The server kept check up on me to see how the food was.

The Captains Boil has always been more of a curiosity to me than a 'must try.' Actually wanted to go to a Korean restaurant close by but it wasn't open yet so went here instead. Should have waited the extra half hour for the Korean restaurant to open. The Captains Boil was just ok. Perhaps it would have be better to come in with a large group or family. Might get more bang for your buck that way!? Regardless, it's quite pricey if you want the 'good stuff' seafood - see menu pix! I wasn't prepared to spend so much knowing there's excellent Happy Hours all over Metro Vancouver were one can get excellent seafood - at the right price. Over 100 bucks for seafood - it better be friggin orgasmic! Right!? We had the Lobster Sliders with Cajun Fries (the Cajun Fries at Popeyes are way better) & the Garlic Shrimp - specials offered before 5pm. There was just nothing exciting about this experience - food tasted ok but had zero razzmatazz. Sad! Would I return? Only with a large group as a means of gauging if the Captain's Boil is any good at all. If you are planning on coming here, I recommend you have a look at the menu ahead of time & give yourself an idea of what to expect price wise.

Heads up that this is a restaurant where you use your hands to eat. Costumers are provided with plastic bib and gloves, I have witnessed a costumer who left as theirs no spoons provided, that was two years ago, just ask nicely and they surely will provide utensils. Been here many times, and was always satisfied with their services, I love the foods the spicy level and Richmond branch is so far the best to me compared to other area. You can either go with their combo's or by pounds, if its your first time, I recommend the combo as it has all four types of seafood. The menu is very detailed choose the meat, the sauce the spicy level. They have delicious sauce type and my favourite would be the Cajun and garlic. If you have high spicy level, go for the fire or volcano level. Some complain its messy, but I think its up to the one eating how organize you are, theirs a bucket provided to put shells, or just on the table. So far the price has always been consistent, and cleanliness was well observed, I highly recommend this area to seafood lovers and spicy eaters, their are other non seafood as well such as chicken, vegetables and fries.

It was right desicion to chose here for dine in after 2 months self isolation. I don't remember how many times I said hmmmmmm closing eyes. Those dishes have to be eaten right here on the table. We had mid level of Captain boil spice with dungeness crab, clams, shrimp, potato, okra, lotus roots and rice. Everything tasted delicious and we combined two bags to enjoy left sauce with rice at last. Maybe not good behavior but so good. All seafood extract comes together. I highly recommend the deep fried lotus roots which has interesting texture and lots of sauce in the holes. It was eye opening deliciousness.

I tried this place 2 years ago, but decided to try it again after coming across it on DoorDash! Gotta say, it was delicious!! I had the garlic shrimp! As someone who is an extreme seafood lover, this satisfied my cravings!! I've tried their Cajun fries and it was delicious as well!!! After going there a few years ago, ordering in during the weekends for me is always the better option! The parking could be something they could work on, considering it's so packed! It's competitive to get a spot on sunny weekends! Overall, will order in again! It was fast and quite tasty!

good food and good staff the location is good, need to have one of this restaurant in Langley, just saying

Been here twice and our experienced was very good. The place is not that busy so we were seated right away. The place is very spacious and staff are very friendly. This branch is very consistent with their quality of sauce as it's very tasty and flavorful. Was happy with our visit.

Captain's Boil is a franchise. I am not a big fan of Captain's Boil seafood because the flavors doesn't seem to be there. Most of their seafood are frozen and are already cooked but than recooked with the sauces or seasoning. Seems a bit lacking and most of the time its not like super fresh but they still charge premium for it. This Captain's Boil has the Lobster Roll Combo offered for $14.95. It comes with Lobster Bisque and a Lobster Roll. The bisque was so so. It didn't taste like Lobster Bisque at all. It was super salty. The Lobster Roll was good but it was only good because the lobsters were served on a garlic bread. Of course its good. Anything garlicy in my mind is tasty. Definitely not the traditional Lobster Roll that I am used to. I also got the fried shrimps on top. It was ok. It came with fries and I have to say the fries were good. They were seasoned in Cajun spices. Overall it was ok. Parking is plentiful outside. I probably won't come back. Its not like something I would be craving for.

Great experience and great food. We ordered the pirate's feast which came with our choice of crab, 1lb each of shrimp, mussels, and clams, seafood fried rice, cajun fries, and a whole bunch of sides. There was more than enough food to feed 4 people and we were all very satisfied. The crab was perfectly cooked and had a good amount of meat, the mussels were massive and very flavourful, the clams were a bit small but were still good, and some of the shrimp were overcooked and mushy but that did not ruin the meal for us. We all enjoyed eating with our hands, which adds to the positive experience of this place. It's definitely a treat to come here as the flavours can be very heavy and the prices aren't cheap, but overall everyone had a great time!

I have been to the Captain's Boil at least a dozen times. Always a good time, good service, and of course good sea food. Personally, I mostly only care about shrimp so I cannot speak much to the other menu items. the AYCE deal is good only if you know you can eat more than 2lbs. Otherwise, buying at regular price may end up being cheaper. Happy to see that they brought back the good sauce mix with garlic and everything else after it went downhill for a while around a year ago.

A lb of garlic mussel and Cajun clam.
    Lucy D.

We came in hungry and craving seafood. We walked out pretty satisfied. We ordered a lb of mussel, clam and shrimp each. Mussel was cooked in garlic sauce and that was the best. Clam and shrimp were cooked in Cajun. The spice was mild and good. We also added 2 portions of lotus root which was a lot. Overall, pretty good food although slightly pricy if you want to get a full meal with just the seafoods.

    Leena S.

Getting to eat with your hands? Awesome I'm in! This restaurant is great for larger groups as well. The seafood options are great! I got the king crab, muscles, broccoli, corn clams and of course the fries. The food was great! No complaints there. I will def be going back! The flavours are unreal Service has room for improvement, needed to waive down a server everytime we needed something.

2nd time to this location since grand opening (was disappointed on grand opening) but decided to try again and give this location another shot Much improvement from before. Service was readily available and quick. Busier location than Vancouver locations. Have parking available but always packed. Had the following - 6 raw oysters - average but decent size Shrimp - not mushy like previous experience Mussels - not chewy, flavourful, large in size Snow crab - average, not that big for price Clams - very good Corn - bit mushy and over cooked Shrimp fried rice - average, nothing too special Unlike the Vancouver location, no pitcher for pop but individual cans sold per Thought there we be some consistency but assume being franchise, not all same

All the spots in this complex have a restaurant name on them, and we could not find any with Cherry Food House on them. I noticed everyone just parked anywhere, regardless of which restaurant. This place is busy! I would suggest booking ahead. Service is very friendly but hard to flag down because they are busy. The call button at the table didn't work. The food has big portions, especially the big pots. Normal price could be around $50+, but the budaejjigae is $37 here, and the pan was wide and deep. However, the downside was the taste. It does taste like normal Korean food, and things are a bit off. The budaejjigae feels like it didn't have dashi in it. The seafood green onion pancake was 90% imitation crab. Pajeons are supposed to be mainly green onion, but this felt like a cake of imitation crab only. Maybe a couple of pieces of green onion, cuttlefish, and shrimp. The fried chicken was ok. They serve free dessert at the end - feels like some pudding with sweet syrup. If you don't mind about taste and just want a lot of food for cheap then this is for you.

This cut is often seen in Chinese grocery store where it's cheaper, fattier and thicker. Also, it not marinated well. *Seafood Pancake: presented nicely - height of dish seems thicker than ordinary. Imitation crab was used to make the swirls on top. I love the crunchiness but then again taste is not quite there. *Deep Fried Mini Crab: interesting dish that's typical of salt and pepper fried dishes in Chinese restaurants. *Pork Bone Hot Pot: I love the straw and shimeji mushrooms added to it. The pork bone is very tender but there's a spice lacking. *Kimchi: tastes sweet without much of the spicy goodness of real kimchi. I like the wide table size that accommodates all the dishes and the side dishes. Servers were attentive.

I tried both the salty and the sweet homemade tofu pudding. The tofu was so silky and soft and smooth. I preferred the savory one, although I skipped out on the chili oil. I feel like next time I will get it with chili oil. The XLB was only okay. Unfortunately, I did not find it very flavorful. The Yangzhou style layer cake was okay. We intended on getting the à la carte menu at first but realized that based on how many big eaters we had, it was more bang for our buck with the all you can eat menu. We chose the lowest tier of all you can eat and there were some people who preferred seafood; even if you upgraded to the highest tier the selection in our opinion, didn't get drastically better that it was "worth it". We had a party of six and was seated at a long table with a divider. When we got to our seat, the staff had placed the divider at exactly the table edges connecting the two stove but it was so squishy and uncomfortable for 6 people that we had to move the divider over a little. There's a time limit for all you can eat however with one stove and us not knowing that the vegetables came raw and in full foiled packages, it took a long time to grill anything. Our waitress came over many many times to remind us about the time limit and even then... we were well over our time limit even though we only put in two rounds of food. One stove shared between six people was awful. It's not like our stove could cook any faster even if the waitress rushed us. We were even ending the meal with s'mores and the waitress couldn't wait any longer and brought over the bill. We had to put down our s'mores stick to pay the bill so she could leave us alone to finish the meal... the restaurant was not busy, there were plenty of empty tables and there was no one waiting in the lobby. Did not appreciate the service here. Overall, food was greasy and not memorable (as I just tried a different grilled meat spot a few days prior). The portions were weird. Most of the dishes were severely under portioned so we made sure to up our portions for round two. Our time was up before we could even put in our final round three order. The staff also didn't respect some of the items. We put in ice cream on the first order as people wanted to use it as a grease palate cleanser and it was only when we followed up with the waitress did they say "oh we thought it should be served at the end of the meal instead since it's a dessert". Perhaps following the orders of what customers mark off would help with better customer service....
