I was surprised by how upscale the interior looked! Usually hot pot places are more casual but this place was very nicely decorated. I shared a combo with my friends and the unlimited noodles were very good value. There's a self serve sauce bar that also has some side dishes that we snacked on before our food arrived. The staff were very attentive and the ice cream that we got at the end was so creamy and milky. Yum!

A lot of good options. The source bar and desert section have a lot of choices too. Kids menu have good options my son really enjoys too. Service was very attentive. Ambiance is chill and nice for family and friends.

Fresh ingredients and meat. Service was attentive and restaurant was clean. A little pricy but you get what you pay for! Got the lamb, and beef combo pots which came with a soup, unlimited noodles and a veggie plate.

Got seated promptly upon arrival at 6:30 pm, which was when our reservation was. They have little snacks like popcorn, candies, and flavoured water outside for you if there happens to be a wait. Host explained the restaurant to us and server kindly explained the menu too. All ordering is done via iPad, each person gets their own broth and pays a small fee for an unlimited sauce/appy/dessert bar. Our go to is the pork bone broth, which comes with some acoutrements inside the soup already. We decided to get a few of the set menu which comes with unlimited rice or noodles, as well as some a la carte items. Sauce bar is extensive with lots of options, and there are lots of appys like kimchi, chips, edamame beans, and a selection of fruits. Food came out super fast and was good quality, the meat we chose was more on the lean side but was not tough at all. Everyone was stuffed especially with the ice cream at the end!

I made a reservation for 6:30pm on a Friday night. Our party arrived at 6:15 and it was no issue getting seated early though the employees did say due to a high number of reservations, they asked that if we could finish our meal within 2 hours. The staff speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese so communication was no issue at all. Upon being seated, we were promptly greeted by our server who walked us through the seafood specials and gave us an iPad to scroll through the different offerings. She quickly made our sauces and let us know about the cold/sauce bar. The sauce bar had everything the server had including additional sauces like peanut and sesame sauces, soy sauces, and spicy offerings. Snacks included peanuts, kimchi, and chips. There were jars of candy and various tea offerings too. The panda ice jelly bar was a hit! We placed our orders on the iPad and the food came out very quickly. We all opted for the creamy pork bone broth with chicken. The broth was creamy without being overly fatty or heavy. The chicken was very soft and tender! We ordered 3 platters of meat (flat iron, ribeye, and boneless wagyu short rib), a vegetable variety platter, beef tripe, and shrimp paste. Everything was fresh and well prepared. The server informed us of the recommended cook times for the items. For payment, they prefer cash or debit. Credit card payment includes an additional 2% fee which is waived if you complete their survey. The total for 3 people after tax and tip was around $215 CAD. The atmosphere, restaurant cleaniness, service, and quality of food made us feel like this was very worth it. I've been to the Bellevue location and felt both locations were comparable. I would not hesitate to visit another Dolar Shop location!

Sisters and I took a day trip to Canada and was craving for hot pot. We've settled for Dolar shop because of their reviews. Yes, we have one in our area too but we've never been there. The wait wasn't too long. The service was spectacular, we let them know that it was our first time there, and the staffs took care of us. They recommended what we should order and made the sauce for us. They pretty much guided us first timers and it was perfect. The ambiance was great. You can order the set or a la carte, and they have a lot of fresh seafood. The dessert and fruit bar was awesome to end the meal. They even give you a free ice cream cone from all the delicious food. I would totally recommend this place and would come back.

This was my first time trying hot pot (I don't know why it took me so long) and it certainly won't be my last! I think The Dolar Shop makes it to the top of my list for best restaurants in Vancouver. Not only was their food amazing but their customer service was top notch! We got their set menu which comes with the main dish, broth, dipping sauces, unlimited rice/ noodles, ice cream, and other appetizers + dessert! It was such a good deal! We got their spicy beef broth and creamy pork broth (half and half) with flat iron beef set. Both the broths were SOO good and you could tell the beef was premium quality! We also got their popcorn chicken for appies which was amazing, super crispy with the perfect amount of salt and went really well with the sauces. They also had a buffet of other appetizers (my fav was their kimchi). For dessert, we got their vanilla ice cream with our set menu but they also had a buffet for dessert with cute panda puddings and other toppings. Loved every bit of it! Their brown sugar milk tea, pink strawberry float, and calpico were our fav drinks. Honestly, cannot wait to go back here! Amazing experience!

This is one of the more upscale hot pot restaurants I've been to, one in which you'd come to splurge once in a while. We had a large party of almost 20 people and they had us in a private room, but we ordered in small groups. We had to wait a bit despite having a reservation, but they had some snacks at the front and you can wait indoors so you wouldn't be freezing outside. The presentation of the food was very neat and I enjoyed all of the variety of meats, seafood, and veggies they had to offer. The meats in particular were delicious and weren't tough to chew. The split broth in your own personal pot was a huge plus to offer variety in the dining experience. This was the first time I've seen a split individual pot so I'm all for it because I always have a hard time choosing one broth. We tried the spicy broth, tomato broth, and the creamy pork broth; all of which were good. The sauce bar was well labeled and had extensive options to make your own sauce. Service was a little slow, but I understand it's hard to manage a large party unless properly staffed. I honestly don't even remember the total for all of our food, but it was VERY pricey relative to hotpot experiences I've had. I do think the quality is there, but not sure if it justifies the price since I've had better at a lower cost. I'd say it is worth trying perhaps if you go with one of the set meals, but if you want a normal hotpot fix with more reasonable pricing then go elsewhere.

This place is the very best for hot pot. They have a full sauce bar with a candy bar that includes gummy bears! The meat is so good and the flavor is amazing and ending with icecream is the best.

I cant even remember what I ordered LOL

Really good hotpot in Richmond (Near Vancouver, Canada) Service was fast, though I recommend getting a Yelp reservation ahead of time as they appear to get crowded. Food was great, you likely won't go wrong with anything here, the price point is $35/person for a decent volume of food, due to the USD-Canadian conversion :) Also very clean and fancy interior.

We've been here multiple times. Very accomodating to kids, my son eats alot here. Staff is friendly and efficient. We love getting the tomato broth, the creamy pork broth may be a bit spicy for the kids as it has a peppery after taste. Overall, will be back :)

I'm not sure why I haven't written a review for Dolar Shop when I've been here more times than I can remember since 2019. I don't need to say much - this place is pricey and has many controversial opinions about how good it is but I can't stop coming back. This place is excellent for large parties, small parties, boujee parties, hangover parties, birthday parties and more. You can make a reservation easily on Yelp or call for large party inquiries. It's a great place for when you are craving high-quality food and high-quality service. I will say that over the years, the restaurant has gotten better and better. With the addition of the dessert bar and new delicious soup bases, I've had a 10/10 experience every time as of late. The servers are always attentive and aside from occasional busy days when the restaurant is packed, will always keep your water glass full and pot full of soup. There is a large selection of meat, seafood, vegetables, and more but I generally order the set menu (35.99 and up). The set comes with more than enough meat and veggies and unlimited noodle refill. I like that I can select a split soup base without extra charge. There is also unlimited sauce and appetizer/fruits for your picking. Finally, the best part is high key the ice cream and it is unbeatable. No, you don't get icy inconsistent ice cream or the plain old Chapman's cup. It's good milky, creamy, soft-serve ice cream and if you have a large dessert stomach, it is unlimited! Yes it's expensive, and yes we have "Dolar Shop" at home, but there is so much mediocre expensive hotpot out there. If you're going to splurge, just go here. If you want to save money and eat cheap, go to Bigway. They also frequently have promotions on their Instagram page. Lastly, if you pay by credit card, there is also a survey you can complete at the end of your dinner which enters you in a monthly draw to win $20 of $100 - I have won this before so it is possible! Happy Dolar Shop-ing~

Public Humiliation and False Accusations - Absolutely Unacceptable I've visited Dolar Shop in Lansdowne several times, but after last night, I will never return. What happened was not just disappointing -- it was shocking, humiliating, and completely unprofessional. I was dining with my young daughter and elderly parents. Upon arrival, our server, Elaine, immediately gave me a sharp, disapproving look and loudly said the kid's menu was "strictly for children" and that "adults are not allowed to eat any of it." I had only ordered a few small items for my daughter while waiting for her meal. Her tone was harsh, accusatory, and humiliating, as if we were deliberately trying to take advantage of complimentary food. In that moment, I felt stunned, judged, and deeply embarrassed -- all in front of my child and elderly parents. This was not just bad service -- it was public humiliation and a false accusation. When I tried to address the situation with another staff member, she lied, claiming Elaine was the manager and told me I could not complain further. It was obvious this was an attempt to silence me rather than resolve the issue. For the entire two-and-a-half-hour dinner, no one came forward to explain, apologize, or make any effort to correct the situation. Our table was ignored while other tables continued to receive regular attention. I feel deeply shaken and humiliated. Someone whose role is to create a welcoming environment treated us with suspicion, judgment, and disrespect. It was not merely poor service -- it was unfairly accusing, dismissing, and publicly embarrassing a family, in front of a child and elderly parents. I hope management takes this incident seriously, addresses the staff involved, and ensures no other family ever experiences such a distressing and upsetting situation. Dining out should never leave a family feeling unsafe, unwelcome, or publicly shamed.

This place is busy! I would suggest booking ahead. Service is very friendly but hard to flag down because they are busy. The call button at the table didn't work. The food has big portions, especially the big pots. Normal price could be around $50+, but the budaejjigae is $37 here, and the pan was wide and deep. However, the downside was the taste. It does taste like normal Korean food, and things are a bit off. The budaejjigae feels like it didn't have dashi in it. The seafood green onion pancake was 90% imitation crab. Pajeons are supposed to be mainly green onion, but this felt like a cake of imitation crab only. Maybe a couple of pieces of green onion, cuttlefish, and shrimp. The fried chicken was ok. They serve free dessert at the end - feels like some pudding with sweet syrup. If you don't mind about taste and just want a lot of food for cheap then this is for you.

For the main dish, my friend ordered Stone Pot Unagi on Rice and I chose Flying Ramen Takoyaki. A few minutes later, our orders came to our table, hot and fresh. The potato cakes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The portion size of our main dishes was generous. However, they leaned more on the North American flavours instead of Japanese- they were quite salty and we had to drink a lot of water. My friend said that for her bowl, there was too much rice and not enough unagi. For my dish, there was a lot of fried noodles and sauce, but not enough vegetables to balance the saltiness. It was still fun to try a different take on Japanese food. For next time, we decided that we would order a drink and smaller items to share. If you are in the area, come and check this place out!

We intended on getting the à la carte menu at first but realized that based on how many big eaters we had, it was more bang for our buck with the all you can eat menu. We chose the lowest tier of all you can eat and there were some people who preferred seafood; even if you upgraded to the highest tier the selection in our opinion, didn't get drastically better that it was "worth it". We had a party of six and was seated at a long table with a divider. When we got to our seat, the staff had placed the divider at exactly the table edges connecting the two stove but it was so squishy and uncomfortable for 6 people that we had to move the divider over a little. There's a time limit for all you can eat however with one stove and us not knowing that the vegetables came raw and in full foiled packages, it took a long time to grill anything. Our waitress came over many many times to remind us about the time limit and even then... we were well over our time limit even though we only put in two rounds of food. One stove shared between six people was awful. It's not like our stove could cook any faster even if the waitress rushed us. We were even ending the meal with s'mores and the waitress couldn't wait any longer and brought over the bill. We had to put down our s'mores stick to pay the bill so she could leave us alone to finish the meal... the restaurant was not busy, there were plenty of empty tables and there was no one waiting in the lobby. Did not appreciate the service here. Overall, food was greasy and not memorable (as I just tried a different grilled meat spot a few days prior). The portions were weird. Most of the dishes were severely under portioned so we made sure to up our portions for round two. Our time was up before we could even put in our final round three order. The staff also didn't respect some of the items. We put in ice cream on the first order as people wanted to use it as a grease palate cleanser and it was only when we followed up with the waitress did they say "oh we thought it should be served at the end of the meal instead since it's a dessert". Perhaps following the orders of what customers mark off would help with better customer service....

What's in COMBO A? ~ 50+ skewers packed with meat and veggies ~ Dual broth: House Special Spicy ~ Soup Base & Pork Bone Soup Base ~ Sweet potato vermicelli ~ 2x House Special Dipping Sauces The spicy broth was bold and flavorful without being overwhelming, and the variety of skewers kept things exciting. Their signature dipping sauce with Yuan's Hot Pot Sesame Oil is a game-changer -- so fragrant and not greasy. Yuan's Hot Pot 袁记串串香 brings the bold, authentic flavours of Chengdu straight to Richmond. Yuan's Hot Pot is located in the Aberdeen Mall so plenty of free parking which is always a plus…read more It is clean with high ceilings and pretty good ventilation which is needed as...we are doing hot pot. We went with 1/2 soup base and 1/2 extra spicy. And the extra spicy is definitely spicy...no need to add any dipping sauces with that base. Ordered a variety of proteins and vegetables. I liked that most of the items were on skewers which made getting it out of the base much easier. I did find the beef overly salted. And I really enjoyed the corn on the cob. Service was great and definitely needed a shower and a change of clothes after dinner. They were having a buy one get one free anniversary promotion. You can return and have the same items ordered for free on your next visit. It is a pretty good promotion. It was a positive food experience.

I liked their AYCE menu and had been wanting to come back, only to find out when we sat down that…read moreAYCE was no longer available. Huge bummer. We arrived around 9 PM and stood at the entrance for 3-5 minutes while multiple staff walked past us without any acknowledgment. Most tables were empty, so it wasn't clear whether we were supposed to seat ourselves. I eventually had to stop someone, who then brushed us off and grabbed someone else instead. After sitting down, I asked about AYCE and was told it was discontinued in October 2025. The waiter mentioned happy hour and said we could get an extra discount with a student ID, but when we showed our U.S. student IDs, they wouldn't accept them. Lame, but whatever. The price is acceptable during happy hour. The seats are uncomfortable, and the kitchen was very loud that night. The floor vibrated on and off throughout our meal. The biggest issue: bugs. They clearly know it's a problem since there's a small fan over the sauce station to keep the bugs away, but it didn't help. We found a dead bug in the sauce we made before dipping our food. There were also bugs flying over our food the entire time (see photos). That alone is unacceptable. Food came out almost instantly after ordering on our phones. Impressively fast. Everything tasted good, but I wouldn't order the spicy broth again. I know that's the style, but even at one-star spice it was extremely oily and overpowering for me. Another ongoing annoyance was staff constantly messing with our stove. On both visits, we ordered multiple broths. The spicy broth boiled aggressively because of all the oil, while the non-spicy broth barely simmered. We didn't like the spicy broth at all and just wanted the non-spicy one hot enough to actually cook food. Every time I turned up the heat, staff immediately turned it back down because the spicy broth was boiling. As a result, the non-spicy broth never properly boiled the entire meal, and our food was likely undercooked. Extremely frustrating. Last time we came, we got complimentary ice cream at the end. This time, we didn't. I assumed they stopped offering it, but based on other recent reviews, they just didn't give us one. I'm not coming back until AYCE is back and the bug problem is actually fixed.

This was a very spacious hot pot restaurant, though I would recommend having a reservation. You scan a QR code and order from your phone (there is free wifi). The food was good, just another solid hot pot place. The broth was really spicy so beware! We ended the meal with complimentary black sesame ice cream which was a fun bonus!
