We enjoyed the food, although my friend and I preferred to order on a tablet like the Burnaby location but that was fine. Service was good and prompt until the end. We paid our bills and was finishing up our ice cream when the server came up and asked multiple times if we have paid. We informed him that we did and he hovered over our table insinuating that we were trying to skip our on our bills. It was very bizarre as he was the one who took our payment and we assumed he can see that the meals have been paid on his tablet. Place was clean, however rest rooms could use some attention, the floor was sticky and the handles as well. Note, you do not get a tablet at this location, so you will scan a QR code and order a few items through the waiter/waitress like the meats, the rest are available on the cold bars. A pretty decent spread, however the hot food goods were pretty lackluster. The tarts were kind of underbaked - and the pastry was somewhat doughy. Meats and vegetables were fresh and up to standard, and I quite like the fish here! Good food variety, except service needs improvement. There were many times the server asked if we had required anything. It was requested, but never came. For example: at the beginning of the meal she asked if we wanted aprons and that never came. We asked for broth top up but had to keep reminding her as well. We made reservations at the Richmond location as soon as they let us on Yelp. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately. There seemed to be no waiting at this location for New Year's Eve. We had to wait over an hour in Burnaby a year ago. The person who brought us to our table. I saw her lips move, but, had no idea what she was saying. The waiter who served us was able to communicate with me. Our waiter was nice and did not last call us. We like that everyone gets an individual pot here. It is buffet style for the seafood, vegetables, noodles, sauce bar, and cooked foods. You order the meats through your waiter. The food quality was good. Desserts are available at the bar area. Ice cream is offered to you by your waitstaff. Discounts are given if you jump through hoops or write a review. I noticed a promotion this weekend where they included aburi sushi in the all you can eat menu, so I decided to give it a try. This location is located in Aberdeen Mall, so free indoor parking is available but can be hard to find depending on busy the mall gets. On this particular day, it was unexpectedly quiet so it was easy to find parking. We arrived on time for our reservation and wee immediately seated near the back. It's a nice space, which is pretty common for new hot pot places. The one thing I noticed is that the conduction plates are line along the middle of the table, which I found odd initially, but as I ate, it made a lot of sense as it's easier to keep your cooked food close to you and allows sharing. The food is very similar to what you get at the Dolar Shop, which I also enjoy. But theres a couple pros and cons. Pro - it is AYCE, so really good value if you can eat a lot of food - you can try more as you can sample small amounts of everything Cons - if you can't eat a lot, the extra cost isn't worth it - at Dolar Shop, you can bring home the broth, but you can't here The $2.99 all you can drink is a good deal too Service here is just as attentive and friendly here I enjoyed my visit as it was a bit of a treat for the family. As a die-hard hot pot fan, I've frequented The Dolar Shop, but this was my first visit to their Premium All You Can Eat sister brand, CHOCHO Hot Pot. For broth, there are plenty of choices. We loved the rich & flavourful Pork Broth. We ordered 1 of each type of meat (Rib Eye, Beef Short Plate, Flat Iron Beef, Chuck Eye Rolls (AAA), Lamb Flap, Pork Belly, Pork Shoulder, Skinless Premium Chicken Thigh) to start. Every cut was fresh, tender, & boasted excellent quality! While waiting for the broth to boil, we snacked on fried appetizers. While slightly smaller than the Burnaby location, it has the advantage of indoor parking. Keep in mind that parking is limited to 3 hours (P1-3) or 4 hours (P4) depending on the level, so plan your time accordingly if you intend to shop in the mall to avoid parking tickets, as friends have experienced. The selection of ready to eat food seemed somewhat less than at the Burnaby location, but this location is more convenient. I've been to the dolor shop in Bellevue WA and this is basically the same tthing, same quality, but all you can eat and truly truly amazing value. I also like their individual pots for cooking so I don't have to worry about putting my used chopsticks into the communal hot pot. They have a good section of vegetables, seafood, meats and dim sum. You order the sliced meat via your server. For dessert, you can make your own at the dessert bar and or get ice cream. Our server was fantastic and I appreciated him informed us he heard about our commotion and was there to ensure we had a good dinner. I also appreciated the manger stepping up to solve the matter. Don't get too distracted by the candies and snacks though - there is also self-service fish (mostly frozen for shellfish, but the white fish is good). When I called to make a reservation, the host asked if we were celebrating anything and I said it was a birthday. She explained that reservations after 5pm don't qualify for a discounted price, but told me we could simply let the staff know it was a birthday and they have a "birthday spinning wheel." Today, we did let the staff know we were celebrating a birthday, but nothing happened--no spinning wheel and no acknowledgement at all. It may sound small, but it was the one birthday moment we were told to expect, and it left the birthday person feeling really let down. I understand restaurants get busy, but if this is something mentioned during booking, there needs to be better communication and follow-through. If it isn't available, it would be better to clearly explain that upfront so expectations are set properly. read more

With a huge selection of hot pot items such as meat, seafood, veggies, tofu products along with a cooked food section featuring dim sum (both steamed and fried), this AYCE hot pot place goes above and beyond to make sure you leave satisfied. The best part os that they have individual pots for each diner with your own choice of soup. I went with the sukiyaki and although a bit on the sweet side, it was not too oily and all the flavours absorbed into the different items that were put into the pot. There is also a make your own sauce bar and a dessert jelly bar where you can create your own bowl of "panda jelly" with an assortment of toppings (including candy!). At the end of the meal, you can also get an ice cream cone and WOW this was my favourite of this meal! Smooth and creamy without being too sweet, this was the perfect way to end off the night. The service is also very prompt and courteous making sure you received a top up of soup and explained the process in detail when you first arrive. This location is quite long in shape meaning that you dont feel crowded by other diners and it is not too noisy. On the up side, the service is very attendantive and friendly. Ventilation is a plus here. If you come, make sure you have reservations. The happy hour crowds are there to chow. The Mall is closing at 1030pm, street parking will be more convenient if available. Otherwise, free garage parking with small space and narrow driveways as usual. This is a one time "wonder" for me. Dropped by here at 8pm on a fairly quiet Monday. We were greeted by male waiting staff who were courteous & friendly and sat us within 5 to 10 mins. By the time we ordered it was another 5-10 mins. By the time the soup base for the hot pot arrived it was almost 8:30pm. The time is important because at 9:50 I asked for a refill of my all you can drink milk tea and was refused as the female server said my time was up. We asked if we could at least have dessert (ice cream) which she rudely and begrudgingly allowed. We were then descended upon by multiple female wait staff who literally took the plates from under us when we were still eating. The person who refused my refill then gave us the bill. We were basically kicked out by 10:15pm. I understand there's a 2 hr limit, but to be so rude to us and kick us out when we've only had our food for 1hr 45mins is just plain awful. The make wait staff were great and attentive. After about 9pm there was a noticeable change in service and the female servers who were hovering around basically gave no service at all until their efforts to usher us out the door.
