Hmm this is one of those restaurants that's hard to pinpoint what's really bad about it because it's neither good nor bad. Then why 2-stars? The taste of every dish is not horribly bad but it fails authenticity. I came with expectations for Korean but was disappointed. *Kalbi: cut of beef is not the good cut as it is thicker and is fatty. This cut is often seen in Chinese grocery store where it's cheaper, fattier and thicker. Also, it not marinated well. *Seafood Pancake: presented nicely - height of dish seems thicker than ordinary. Imitation crab was used to make the swirls on top. I love the crunchiness but then again taste is not quite there. *Deep Fried Mini Crab: interesting dish that's typical of salt and pepper fried dishes in Chinese restaurants. *Pork Bone Hot Pot: I love the straw and shimeji mushrooms added to it. The pork bone is very tender but there's a spice lacking. *Kimchi: tastes sweet without much of the spicy goodness of real kimchi. I like the wide table size that accommodates all the dishes and the side dishes. Servers were attentive.

Not surprising that this Korean/Chinese food restaurant was fully packed on a Wednesday night at 6:30pm! Seafood Tofu Soup ($16.95) - Tofu soup was SO rich it's practically creamy! I dug around and found 1 large prawn, a bunch of baby shrimp, mussels, heaping mounds of soft tofu, mushrooms, cuttlefish (maybe squid? I can't tell). BBQ Beef Short Rib ($32.95) - How is this so TENDER?! Huge portion too, it's at least 3 large strips. Marinated thoroughly and comes on a sizzling plate. 10/10 would order again, great price too. Honey Butter Fried Chicken ($13.95) - Wish it was crispier, BUT flavour was 10/10. You can really taste the strong garlic flavour. Came with 3 rice cakes too which was cute, a nice chewy break. Cold Noodle w/ Soup ($16.95) - I'm usually not a fan of cold noodle honestly, this was actually amazing and changed my mind permanently about cold noodles. It's not just a boring vinegar sauce, it has a robust flavour with sweetness. Super refreshing for the summer (or anytime really). Seafood pancake was also very good and filling. What I found unique was there was artificial crab stick meat which added extra seafood-y flavour. The dough is quite thick, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Dipping sauce also yummy. Service is very friendly, but they're also super busy so you'll have to grab their attention if you want anything. There's a lot of large seating at the back, so it's good for larger parties/family gatherings, but I'd probably recommend a reservation for sure. Lots of parking available, and additional parking up the ramp.

Such a great place to enjoy Korean tofu soup, the best I had todate!! I like how it's bubbling hot and they crack the egg at the table. The mild was the perfect spice level for me. The seafood pancake had a lot of imitation crab if you like that. I thought the service was pretty good. They were friendly and warm! Not typical sometimes for an Asian eatery. I liked how they played only kpop as well. Lots of paid parking in the public lot beside the plaza. I would return and try the hotpot and bibimbap next time.

Delicious spot for comfort Korean food. Love their cold noodle soup during the summer so much we came here twice this week. Plenty of toppings and flavourful soup. Kfc we got garlic pepper flavour but I prefer the honey one more. Didn't realize the Kimchi pancake would be deep fried. The menu pic doesn't resemble what we got. Oil was a bit old. Other than that, this is going to be one of our goto places in Richmond I can tell. Thanks to friends who introduced us here! Oh yes. We got the seafood pancake last time and it was so good. really crispy and full of good seafood. Better than most places we've been to

The staff here are very attentive and friendly, and the food came out hot and swift. We had the pork hot pot and seafood pancake, it was fulfilling and they give you the option for spice or not. Not too busy in the evening and felt comfortable to just eat and talk, if you need them they're right there with a click of the button.

We got the hot pot and the bossam. They were both good, the soup was very filling and bossam was good but was a little fattier than we were used to. Parking will be difficult at dinnertime.

My husband and I came to enjoy an army soup and try something new. Their fried chicken selection seemed diverse and reliable - but the chicken was not what we expected. The army soup was actually quite bland and not spicy. We found the menu to be Chinese fusion inspired. Service was ok - not the most attentive. Ambiance is quiet and private.

This was a pleasant surprise as I was actually heading to the HK Style Cafe that is next door, soon as we passed by, we thought why not!? From the staffs on duty I am guessing that this is a Chinese run Korean restaurant, and my exception automatically adjusted, still they are very efficient and friendly. The dining area is well designed as you still feel a bit of privacy within the small space, in fact they were able to squeeze 2 "semi-private" rooms for medium size parties. Since we had lunch already and was not particularly hungry we ordered a Spicy Pork Bone Soup to share, we did order the full size tho! We got 3 barchan, Braised Potatoes, Bean Sprouts, Kimchi, and the soup came soon after, we were very surprised to see the actual size of the hot pot soup! I am sure it can be shared by 3 or 4 people if you order one or two other dishes, but for sure, this is a good size for $29.95 I think it is a very reasonable deal! Taste of the broth is outstanding! Since we ordered "medium" spicy, it was actually a tad more then "medium" but we still loved it! With lots of vegetables an even fish cake & tofu in the soup, 4 huge chunks of pork neck bone and one rib bone, it was more then enough for the 2 of us, already thinking we might bring home some, but we just kept eating and soon find ourselves finishing the whole pot!! I am glad that there are good Korean Pork Bone Soup that is close to my home and I don't need to drive to Seattle to get it now!! ( but I will still go to the ones in Seattle as they have more variety of banchan! )

***4.5 stars** After a long chaotic day, we were hungry and wanted food and saw this place on Yelp so decided to check it out. It is located in a plaza in the back of the main road so it is not easily noticeable. We decided to go with the bossam, the cold noodle with soup, the deep fried crabs, and the shredded tofu dish. Bossam -- 4/5 --- meat was tender and flavorful, you didn't really need the cabbage or anything else. I didn't really like the sauces that was provided much as it didn't really do anything to the meat. I did like the little crunchy side dish that it came as it brought extra texture. Cold noodle soup -- 5/5 --- huge portion for what you paid for and omg it was soooo good. It was so refreshing and everything worked well together. I especially love the watermelon as it balance out the tartness of the soup. We gulped that down in a heart beat Deep fried crab and shredded tofu -- 3/5--- it was standard, they cooked it well, but it wasn't anything special. The side dishes they gave was standard as well, I especially like the potato though, that was really tasty. Overall, it was a very good meal, we ordered a lot for 2 people but the food wasn't heavy so we didn't feel as bad lol. Definitely will come back to try other dishes

We don't think of Korean spots when venturing out into Richmond but I've had Cherry's Food House on my list to try for ages. We've been twice for a couple of late lunches. It's next door to Peaches Cafe. They have K-pop music and videos playing in the background. Service wasn't overly friendly but they have the buttons on the table to press when you want something. The menu is spit into tofu soup/stone pot, BBQ/fried chicken, noodle & rice, appetizer, mains and hot pot. Funny that they don't have any of the descriptions of the dishes in Korean. Makes sense after reading from others saying it's a Chinese run Korean spot. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 2:00pm) and had the place to ourselves. - Banchan - kimchi, bean sprouts, braised potatoes and seaweed salad. The bean sprouts were fantastic; can't quite pinpoint what they did to it but great firm texture and a bit more richness than normal. Seaweed salad was refreshing and the braised potatoes were satisfying. - Rice cake hot pot (F3) ($24.95) - great value as we shared this with three perfect ople and still had leftovers. The broth was well balanced but not spicy at all. The ttekboki were excellent with a bouncy, chewy texture. Spam wasn't too salty and the fish cakes were enjoyable. A little more noodles and vegetables would have been nice but overall, solid. - Hot stone rice (chicken) (A5) ($14.95) - this baby comes out sizzling and really crisps up the rice at the bottom. Chicken pieces were juicy and tender. One of the better dolsot that we've eaten in a long, long time. - Kimchi pancake (D2) ($7.95 for 5) - not too greasy with a touch of crispiness. These were good bite sized pieces. - Yakult - three small bottles at the end of our meal. Brought these home. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 1:30pm). Not too busy again. - Banchan - same side dishes as last time. All tasty and we got a second round of everything again. - Pork bone hot pot (F1) ($29.95 large) - fall off the bone, tender pieces of pork. Good amount of meat on each pork bone. Broth was flavourful with a hint of spiciness. We like that they give a little more variety than the standard traditional ones. The leafy green/choy was interesting as it had a warm, earthy note to it. Solid spot for some warm, comforting Korean food. Would return to CFH to try more of their dishes.

It looked busy during dinner time so make sure to call ahead before coming in. We ordered BBQ plate beef rib eye, seafood soup to share. Beef rib eye was pretty good. Beef wasn't very tough and the sauce was nice. Seafood soup was quite bland. Definitely needed more spice. The price was $13 for quite a small soup that is usually around $11 else where. Both come with a rice for side. We also ordered cheese corn. It was very weird. Cheese was watery instead of stringy and gooey. Felt like drinking a chowder instead of eating... corn? Overall, pricer than other Korean places in richmond. We need to try out different dishes to have a better idea but we didn't leave very satisfied.

As you come in the restaurant.

This is one Korean restaurant I can taste the difference in the Korean style food. Most Korean food done very much the same. It's quite hard to distinguish the difference and they use the same sauces spices. All cooked the same. You need to try it to taste the difference. The pork feet is amazing, and the soups, chicken wings, so much to try. If you like Korean Definitely try this restaurant.

    Simmered pork feet.

This was probably the first time I came to eat during their dinner service, as a friend was dying to go and is a frequent lover of their menu. Their pork belly was good, but I really enjoyed the pink pickled radish on the side. Tofu soup was hearty and spicy, but the portion is on the smaller end (serves one small bowl to 5 people). Their rice cakes were delicious - perfectly soft and chewy with various seafood and fish cakes in the spicy sauce. I've personally had better pancakes, but my friend loves their seafood pancake and says it's her favourite. The side dishes really stood out to me. What made the experience even more frustrating was that they did not serve banchan or rice while we were waiting. In Korean restaurants, it is common courtesy to provide banchan and rice so customers have something to enjoy before the main dishes arrive. Instead, we sat there with nothing. It honestly felt like they were trying to avoid refilling the unlimited banchan rather than taking care of their customers. The food itself was only average and certainly not worth the excessive wait. As a Korean, I am very familiar with Korean food and the level of hospitality that customers should expect. Good Korean restaurants make guests feel welcome even when the kitchen is busy. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Mistakes happen, but how a restaurant handles those mistakes says a lot about how much they value their customers. Also, we added an egg for $2 (half egg, ripoff, skip skip), and hotate (scallop) - nicely battered, fresh, and sweet. I'd recommend eating the cheese katsu first thing to fully enjoy the melted cheese texture. The pork katsu is solid - the meat is quite juicy. The shrimp is huge and fresh. I docked a star off because of the service. The place is small and it's Japanese food so I expected a bit better service. When we chose to share the set, they called out they won't honor unlimited cabbage, rice, and soup, unless we specifically order 2 sets, despite us ordering extras that are close to the price of the cheapest set. Also, it takes a while to flag down a server to refill the hot tea. It's still a decent experience, but I would've been unhappy if I waited more than 30 minutes for a table because while the katsu is delicious, it's not impressive compared to other katsu spots to wait such a long time.

The staff were so quick and took the time to explain the menu. We got 2 types of beef and a veggie platter, the team told us exactly how long to cook it for and everything was soooo delicious! I also tried this canned drink they had which was a fermented rice drink, I was a big fan. I will definitely be going back here and taking notes of their menu this time so that I know what to get for a next time!

Came here for a couple of occasions and had a great time each time. I find the meat quality is reasonable for the price and I really enjoyed their soft tofu soup. The crowd favourite has to be the corn cheese and the grilled bean sprouts and kimchi! The place is normally pretty busy on the weekend during dinner, so make sure to make reservations before coming. It's not too dark or loud majority of the time and has a couple TVs around the restaurant for people to watch!

For this visit, we had; Spicy grilled chicken- this came hot and sizzling, so saucy, crispy and cheesy, I enjoyed every bite of it, as it was crunchy, flavoursome, and the cheese completes the taste. Grilled Boneless beef- the beef is so tender, and it has a strong flavour perfect with the rice Seafood Pancake- full of different seafood and so crispy on top, the dip goes well with it. Bibimbap- it was delicious like the other bibimbap. I tasted the combination of the ingredients were perfect So far, all the dishes were satisfying, and they were all served hot, which is so perfect for the cold weather. The side dishes can be refilled if you ask, and the price is just right. I Highly recommend checking this place, and I will surely come back to try their other dishes.

Not many people for lunch on a weekday. Menu is not big. When we went, lots of items were crossed off the menu, probably due to pandemic limitations. Has a number of soups and some classic Korean dishes and fried chicken on the menu. Their signature dish is galbijjim which is braised beef short ribs. Beef King's twist is that they add cheese on top and they will melt the cheese with a hand torch in front of your table. Got a medium portion. Portion is big enough for two, and the contents were tasty. The sauce has a little tomato-ish flavor, and the beef along with pieces of potato and daikon have soaked up the flavor. The melted cheese is mild but adds an extra and different texture to the dish. Also got an order of the pan fried dumplings, and those were okay. Overall the bill was $65 including tax.
