Stumbled upon this place looking for something to eat. I'm from Washington and the food scene in Richmond is not to be played with. There are so many restaurants it was hard to choose. This place was solid. It wasn't the best but it wasn't bad you know what I mean? Everything was just okay (which isn't a bad thing). We got cold noodle, galbi, soonduboo, and spicy sweet chicken. The groups fav was surprisingly the chicken it was sweet, salty and a wee bit spicy. Everything else tasted like how it should if that makes sense. The soonduboo was spicy and jiggly with all the soft tofu swimming in the broth. Galbi was more on the bland side but still good with all the banchan. Would I come back if I was in the area? Yes! The restaurant got busy quickly with a bunch of people also interested in the lunch special We get a choice of soup and tea (grapefruit or grapefruit ginger tea) the ordering is through a qr code. This place is located on the dredded 'eat street' in Richmond, which is notorious for terrible parking. All the spots in this complex have a restaurant name on them, and we could not find any with Cherry Food House on them. I noticed everyone just parked anywhere, regardless of which restaurant. This place is busy! I would suggest booking ahead. Service is very friendly but hard to flag down because they are busy. The call button at the table didn't work. The food has big portions, especially the big pots. Normal price could be around $50+, but the budaejjigae is $37 here, and the pan was wide and deep. However, the downside was the taste. It does taste like normal Korean food, and things are a bit off. The budaejjigae feels like it didn't have dashi in it. The seafood green onion pancake was 90% imitation crab. Pajeons are supposed to be mainly green onion, but this felt like a cake of imitation crab only. Maybe a couple of pieces of green onion, cuttlefish, and shrimp. The fried chicken was ok. They serve free dessert at the end - feels like some pudding with sweet syrup. If you don't mind about taste and just want a lot of food for cheap then this is for you. read more

Hmm this is one of those restaurants that's hard to pinpoint what's really bad about it because it's neither good nor bad. Then why 2-stars? The taste of every dish is not horribly bad but it fails authenticity. I came with expectations for Korean but was disappointed. *Kalbi: cut of beef is not the good cut as it is thicker and is fatty. This cut is often seen in Chinese grocery store where it's cheaper, fattier and thicker. Also, it not marinated well. *Seafood Pancake: presented nicely - height of dish seems thicker than ordinary. Imitation crab was used to make the swirls on top. I love the crunchiness but then again taste is not quite there. *Deep Fried Mini Crab: interesting dish that's typical of salt and pepper fried dishes in Chinese restaurants. *Pork Bone Hot Pot: I love the straw and shimeji mushrooms added to it. The pork bone is very tender but there's a spice lacking. *Kimchi: tastes sweet without much of the spicy goodness of real kimchi. Not surprising that this Korean/Chinese food restaurant was fully packed on a Wednesday night at 6:30pm! Seafood Tofu Soup ($16.95) - Tofu soup was SO rich it's practically creamy! I dug around and found 1 large prawn, a bunch of baby shrimp, mussels, heaping mounds of soft tofu, mushrooms, cuttlefish (maybe squid? I can't tell). BBQ Beef Short Rib ($32.95) - How is this so TENDER?! Huge portion too, it's at least 3 large strips. Marinated thoroughly and comes on a sizzling plate. 10/10 would order again, great price too. Honey Butter Fried Chicken ($13.95) - Wish it was crispier, BUT flavour was 10/10. You can really taste the strong garlic flavour. Came with 3 rice cakes too which was cute, a nice chewy break. Cold Noodle w/ Soup ($16.95) - I'm usually not a fan of cold noodle honestly, this was actually amazing and changed my mind permanently about cold noodles. It's not just a boring vinegar sauce, it has a robust flavour with sweetness. Super refreshing for the summer (or anytime really). Seafood pancake was also very good and filling. What I found unique was there was artificial crab stick meat which added extra seafood-y flavour. The dough is quite thick, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Dipping sauce also yummy. Service is very friendly, but they're also super busy so you'll have to grab their attention if you want anything. There's a lot of large seating at the back, so it's good for larger parties/family gatherings, but I'd probably recommend a reservation for sure. Such a great place to enjoy Korean tofu soup, the best I had todate!! I like how it's bubbling hot and they crack the egg at the table. The mild was the perfect spice level for me. The seafood pancake had a lot of imitation crab if you like that. I thought the service was pretty good. They were friendly and warm! Not typical sometimes for an Asian eatery. Delicious spot for comfort Korean food. Love their cold noodle soup during the summer so much we came here twice this week. Plenty of toppings and flavourful soup. Kfc we got garlic pepper flavour but I prefer the honey one more. Didn't realize the Kimchi pancake would be deep fried. The menu pic doesn't resemble what we got. Oil was a bit old. This was a pleasant surprise as I was actually heading to the HK Style Cafe that is next door, soon as we passed by, we thought why not!? From the staffs on duty I am guessing that this is a Chinese run Korean restaurant, and my exception automatically adjusted, still they are very efficient and friendly. Since we had lunch already and was not particularly hungry we ordered a Spicy Pork Bone Soup to share, we did order the full size tho! We got 3 barchan, Braised Potatoes, Bean Sprouts, Kimchi, and the soup came soon after, we were very surprised to see the actual size of the hot pot soup! I am sure it can be shared by 3 or 4 people if you order one or two other dishes, but for sure, this is a good size for $29.95 I think it is a very reasonable deal! Taste of the broth is outstanding! Since we ordered "medium" spicy, it was actually a tad more then "medium" but we still loved it! Dined in last month for the first time followed by take out last week. Both times staff was very friendly and attentive. Dine-in experience 4/5: We ordered the kimchi pancakes ($8 for 5) and beef stone pot to share. The pancakes were easy to share, tasty with a little bit of kick, while the stone pot was nice and hot but a little on the bland side. Take-out 4.5/5. Great flavours, food was still hot by the time we picked up and ate it. Portions were generous and we were pretty full with leftovers for 6 people. Personal highlights were the honey butter garlic chicken, short ribs and cold noodles. Everyone was happy with the food. We will be ordering from them again! It is located in a plaza in the back of the main road so it is not easily noticeable. We decided to go with the bossam, the cold noodle with soup, the deep fried crabs, and the shredded tofu dish. Bossam -- 4/5 --- meat was tender and flavorful, you didn't really need the cabbage or anything else. I didn't really like the sauces that was provided much as it didn't really do anything to the meat. I did like the little crunchy side dish that it came as it brought extra texture. Cold noodle soup -- 5/5 --- huge portion for what you paid for and omg it was soooo good. It was so refreshing and everything worked well together. I especially love the watermelon as it balance out the tartness of the soup. We gulped that down in a heart beat Deep fried crab and shredded tofu -- 3/5--- it was standard, they cooked it well, but it wasn't anything special. The side dishes they gave was standard as well, I especially like the potato though, that was really tasty. We don't think of Korean spots when venturing out into Richmond but I've had Cherry's Food House on my list to try for ages. We've been twice for a couple of late lunches. It's next door to Peaches Cafe. They have K-pop music and videos playing in the background. Service wasn't overly friendly but they have the buttons on the table to press when you want something. The menu is spit into tofu soup/stone pot, BBQ/fried chicken, noodle & rice, appetizer, mains and hot pot. Funny that they don't have any of the descriptions of the dishes in Korean. Makes sense after reading from others saying it's a Chinese run Korean spot. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 2:00pm) and had the place to ourselves. - Banchan - kimchi, bean sprouts, braised potatoes and seaweed salad. The bean sprouts were fantastic; can't quite pinpoint what they did to it but great firm texture and a bit more richness than normal. Seaweed salad was refreshing and the braised potatoes were satisfying. - Rice cake hot pot (F3) ($24.95) - great value as we shared this with three perfect ople and still had leftovers. The broth was well balanced but not spicy at all. The ttekboki were excellent with a bouncy, chewy texture. Spam wasn't too salty and the fish cakes were enjoyable. A little more noodles and vegetables would have been nice but overall, solid. - Hot stone rice (chicken) (A5) ($14.95) - this baby comes out sizzling and really crisps up the rice at the bottom. Chicken pieces were juicy and tender. One of the better dolsot that we've eaten in a long, long time. - Kimchi pancake (D2) ($7.95 for 5) - not too greasy with a touch of crispiness. These were good bite sized pieces. - Yakult - three small bottles at the end of our meal. Brought these home. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 1:30pm). Not too busy again. - Banchan - same side dishes as last time. All tasty and we got a second round of everything again. - Pork bone hot pot (F1) ($29.95 large) - fall off the bone, tender pieces of pork. Good amount of meat on each pork bone. Broth was flavourful with a hint of spiciness. We like that they give a little more variety than the standard traditional ones. The leafy green/choy was interesting as it had a warm, earthy note to it. Solid spot for some warm, comforting Korean food. Would return to CFH to try more of their dishes. read more

Beef wasn't very tough and the sauce was nice. Seafood soup was quite bland. Definitely needed more spice. The price was $13 for quite a small soup that is usually around $11 else where. Both come with a rice for side. We also ordered cheese corn. It was very weird. Cheese was watery instead of stringy and gooey. Felt like drinking a chowder instead of eating... corn? New Korean restaurant in Richmond. I came here for my second lunch (yes, second) and saw a few things I wanted to try but will save them for my next visit. We chose the cold noodle and the seafood tofu pot. Both were very good. I like the cold noodle my friend ordered in particular. Perfect for a warm/hot day, the paste and the sauce add a nice savoury and sweet but flavourful layer to the noodle; the noodle was also super chewy (not rubbery). It was great chewing on them. Seafood tofu hotpot came in a piping hot iron bowl and a fresh egg is cracked into it for you on the spot. Right away you can see a giant shrimp submerged in the bowl, it was nice and not mushy. The tofu were silky smooth and sliced into slabs. I couldn't finish the rice, having had a giant bowl of fried rice in my first lunch. Can't complete a korean meal without the appetizers. Seating is a bit small (but thankfully they took reservations for Friday evenings), and the mall parking is quite limited... but overcoming those hurdles, everything about Cherry's is pretty solid. We had the Pork bone hot pot, and added ramen to it - they were kind enough to fill the soup when needed. Seafood pancake was crispy, and pretty standard. Portions were decent for the price. WOW, finally found a really yummy Chinese/Korean place in Richmond. You'd typically find Chinese/Korean food in Coquitlam, but now you don't have to drive so far! During our meal, there were so many delivery drivers picking up food deliveries - this is a good sign. We were in the restaurant for less than 1 hour and around 9 different delivery drivers were coming and going. The prices are pretty good, considering the taste and quality. If there is one dish I'd recommend, that only Chinese/Korean restaurants make, it's definitely the jjajangmyeong. I've had pretty bad jjajangmyeon in Richmond before, so don't bother trying other places and come here instead! read more

Richmond has a few Korean restaurants that I've been too but this place is new and I take my Korean food seriously for a foodie. Like any decent and authentic Korean restaurants, there is the complimentary rice tea and assortment of little side dishes like sweet potatoes, pickled seaweed, kimchi, rice, etc. The Gamja-Tang (Pork Bone soup) was large and had lots of meat which is a plus. The grilled squid with veggies and deep fried chicken in both spicy and garlic sauces were my favorite dishes. Spiciness was too much for my family but perfect for my taste. (Speak up if you can't handle spicy flavors) The server was very helpful and service was excellent. He even topped up the broth for my hot pot when I took the rest to go! Came here with my bf on a Saturday night at around 5PM so it was quite dead when we got there. Deep Fried Mini Crabs: These were delicious! They were crispy and seasoned perfectly. (5/5) Sides: I love their sides because they had 3 of my favorite things which were kimchi, pickled seaweed salad and edamame. Also, every time we asked for refills, they would give us a lot. (5/5) Pork Bone Soup (1/2 portion): This was very tasty as well. We were surprised how big their pork bones were and the fact that they gave us two of them. The pork was so tender and fatty, and there was quite a lot of meat on them. There weren't that much vegetables in the soup but it was okay since the pork was the star. The soup had flavor but it was a bit too salty for me. (4.5/5) Grilled Mackerel: This was also very good. The skin was very crispy while the meat was tender and flavorful. It also wasn't too salty which was nice because some places over salt the mackerel that you can't taste the fish. (4/5) Overall, food was really good and service was amazing. Our food came out so quickly! The only negative comment we would make would be that they didn't have 2 of the items we asked for. First, we asked for their spicy stir fried squid but they didn't have any which was fine. Then, we asked for their spicy rice cakes (tteokbokki) but she said they didn't have that one either which my bf wasn't too happy about because it is one of their staples so it was weird that they didn't have any. A bit disappointed with the portion size. Ordered through door dash and got 4 pieces of short rib for 24.22 without any banchan! Which kinda feels like a rip off. The quality of meat was good but seriously u have to give a bit more? Being a Korean restaurant and charging almost 25 dollars for 4 pieces of short rib without the banchan is ridiculous. New family operated Korean restaurant on Alexandra Rd in Richmond. Discovered on Yelp, we visited a few weeks after opening. The decor is simple yet inviting, and layout is simple in a medium sized dining space. Menu is not overwhelming and you can expect to find the iconic Korean dishes like pork bone soup, BBQ meats on sizzling plates, tofu hot pot, stone bowl rice, seafood pancake, etc. We decided on a mushroom tofu hot pot and BBQ chicken. Both orders came with rice and of course accompanied by traditional Korean side dishes like kimchi, pickled radish, candied potatoes, etc. Food was made to order and arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. The BBQ chicken was tender and quite spicy, and goes very well with rice. Served over a hot sizzling plate, each bite of dark meat chicken was hot to the touch (in a good way). The mushroom tofu hot pot came with a raw chicken egg that added in before serving. Soup was flavorful with distinct oyster mushroom accents and tofu was soft and silky. ( some restaurants would only provide a two seats table for two people. ) The five free starter dishes are amazing and you can refill them for free!!! We refilled the Kimchi and potatoes. Strongly recommend to try the Kimchi here. It's not too spicy. It's more like sweet. The seafood pancake is a must-try!!! I can only say AMAZING!!! It's crispy outside but soft inside.
