We recommend choosing their secret spicy soup base recipe, aromatic with a great balance of spice/flavor, offset by a more mellow but nourishing white soup base, to start your feast. There are many fresh ingredients you can choose from, an extensive list of spicy and non-spicy skewers to platters of meat and seafood, all conveniently pictured and easily ordered through their tablet. The meats were especially memorable as they were seasoned well and very tender indeed. They even have spare short ribs on skewers and thick cut beef tripes on their menu, which gave great flavour and texture. If you are suckers for dipping sauce, you can make your own special blend at their dipping bar. The restaurant was clean, bright and huge. All the staff was courteous despite the busy day. Hotpot at a restaurant is definitely an experience and this place ticks all the boxes. Worth checking them out.

Half-and-half spicy and non-spicy soup base. Starting off with the lamb. Small bowl of fried rice on the left side.

A wonderful experience! Most tables are comfortable booths and several have floor-to-ceiling views of either the mall courtyard or neighboring street. Servers are professional, knowledgeable, quick to offer advice and discuss options in either English or Mandarin. The soup base is great (both the spicy and not spicy options) and they were good about refills. The dipping sauce was amazing (you can mix your own or they will do it for you if you ask). Everything was clean and prepared fast. The flavors were rich and diverse. The skewers are an awesome touch and make cooking and transferring easier than at most hotpot restaurants. Our favorites were the beef, lamb, black mushrooms, corn, taro, and bean curd, and side of fried rice. Still, there were tons of choices for every person's taste. Really appreciate how kind they were to our 4-year old child too. It was only his second time enjoying hotpot and we now know he will want to come back. Thank you!!

4.5/5 Hot pot is something one has to prepare for. Everything needs to be washed, and it's hair wash day for us ladies post meal. Even with the superb ventilation at Yuan's. Koodos as this is the most ventilated and chilled hot pot restaurant in America I've been to. Service was excellent in both fluent English and Mandarin. Very attentive staff who deliver and explain in a timely manner. Food was super fresh and much of it was frozen which is a norm for northern style hot pot. Landmark Hot Pot is more "fresh" in the sense it's rarely frozen solid, and higher quality in base soup and premium soups. Yuans hot pot base comes from a packet. It's pork broth looks legit, but basic. I appreciate how ordering is on a tablet and is clearly priced and described. I would return, as it's ambiance is clean and airy. Easy to park and friendly staff.

Came here for vacation, as we are from socal and are always looking for good food. We came here as a recommendation after watching strictlydumpling on youtube! Definitely a good pick. I'm quite surprised about the location, first of all, because in socal area it seems most mall foods (both restaurants and mall cafeterias) are not impressive or anything more than good. But in Vancouver it definitely seems the opposite- the food actually looks good. Food was amazing! The canned Seaseme oil along with the garnishes (cilantro, garlic, peppers, etc) was seriously the best. My gf mentioned this is normal in China, and thank goodness it is a standard at this restaurant. My top picks for the skewers were the beef tongue, frog leg, frozen fried tofu, and the fried bean curd. Everything was premium ingredient quality! Service was great! Our server spoke to us in chinese (both mandarin/canto) which we do understand along with English. Waiters would frequently be checking in on us. Price point was a little on the pricier side, but the entire experience was worth the value.

    Summer special combo

Decent hot pot place with reasonable price. This is not The Dolar Shop or Halidao quality for sure so don't come with that expectation. They have summer special combo for $69.99cad for 2 people but you can use for family too. We ordered that combo and added more meat and seafood. For a a family of 5, the bill was about $117US, I was pleasantly surprised.

I came to visit Vancouver from Seattle for the weekend for my birthday and casually ended up at this restaurant upon arriving somewhat late and craving hot pot. I was so blown away by the food here that I literally cancelled my upscale/formal birthday dinner in downtown the next night to eat here again because I knew I would regret not eating here again before leaving. First off, almost all hot pot places only have pork-based broth, but this place had chicken broth and veggie broth substitutions (which is perfect since my boyfriend doesn't eat pork). Second, the restaurant provides aprons and covers for your jackets because (as all hot pot lovers know) the soup can splash/get all over your clothes. Third, the food was INSANE, from pricing to quality, this is a one million out of ten recommend. You can also order "skewers" of food so if you want something but don't want to pay for an absurd amount of it, this is the perfect way to order just enough of each side/addition. Lastly, the service was unmatched. All of the servers were clearly attentive and helpful, but the manager...he was next level. He was unbelievably kind and very genuinely was happy to hear that we enjoyed the food so much. Everyone needs to experience the food here. This is forever going to be a required stop whenever I'm in Vancouver.

    exxellent !

Wow! This is simply a delicious dish on earth! It's so delicious! Authentic enough to make people scream uncontrollably! I can't stop at all!

There's no shortage of hotpot restaurants in Vancouver, but Yuan's Chuan Chuan Xiang hot pot stands out because the food comes out in bamboo skewers You can make your own dipping sauce but they suggest sesame oil, garlic, green onion and cilantro. I'm not a fan of cilantro so I skipped that. The sesame oil comes in a small can which is really cute. I ended up taking a can home A must order item is the deep fried pork crisps. It has a nice crispy outside while the chicken is tender and juicy. I would also dip the pork crisp in the hot pot. I suggest you to not order the spinach because it really is a few spinach leaves skewered. You will laugh if you see it. Skewered-style hot pot has its advantages because you don't need to go searching for the items. The spicy soup base is premade and comes in a packet that they pour your hot pot. Let that boil a bit before you start eating.

Hard to believe that I have never been to this place until now! Hot pot and skewers are on the list of my top 10 food items, and now they have been combined into one (((mind blown))) If this is your first time here, ask one of the servers to explain the process and make recommendation on how much to order. When you sit down you are given a order sheet where you can choose your soup base, skewers and additional items. We picked the double option with the non spicy and spicy broth. You can also pick whether you want seafood flavour in the broth or not. Just a warning that the level of spice is high and the regular spicy is plenty spicy for someone who does not have a high spice tolerant. I would highly recommend picking the $2.95 dipping sauce mixing bar option. You get to mix all kinds of goodies like garlic, coriander, green onion and chili into the sesame oil (which comes in an individual serving can - how cool!) my recommendation is garlic, green onion, coriander and a little bit of chili with sugar and oyster sauce - YUM! Similar to most hot pot restaurants, you get to order all types of meat and veggies. My favourite was the bamboo shoot, quail eggs, and the wings! This place has TONS of vegetarian options from different types of veggies, mushrooms and tofu so it's very accommodating to most diets! One more thing, all the drink options are so cheap here! Pop is less than $2 and most beers under $4 - great way to quench that hot pot thirst! The quality of the meat is fantastic and the service is prompt as it is a worldwide chain. The restaurant is very, very clean and well ventilated and you will not leave smelling like hot pot from your hair to your clothes. The seafood plates are great and I highly recommend the sliced sole!

Always up for the next big hot pot opportunity, I gladly came by to try this new place right as it opened. Parking is plentiful in the Aberdeen Centre parking lot. The location is actually a bit tricky to find as it's at the end of the mall, out of sight of the main atrium. The interior is (obviously) brand new, and and reminds me of a modern Asian-style living room. Nice trim and decor, but otherwise "clean" other than a few pieces of artwork on the walls. Very classy. I had a chance to meet the owner and head chef. Both are definitely from China, which makes this place the real deal. One nice touch is that the staff offer aprons to the guests here. Definitely useful, as many have learned after trying to wash off spicy soup stains. Another special mention goes to the dipping sauce, with their nice portions of oil and garlic. The ingredients are very fresh, and among the best I've had locally. The spot prawns were already dead, but very few places do the live ones. We had so many skewers and other goodies I couldn't keep track. Beef, enoki, squid, quail eggs, beef balls, pork, mushrooms, pig intestine, lotus roots, and who knows what else. Variety is beautiful. The soup broth is nice and light, with plenty of fresh ingredients. Another special mention goes to their watermelon juice. This is made from the real thing. The dishes kept coming, and we all gorged ourselves. The quality was there but this place is not cheap. Maybe I'm just used to the AYCE variety, but this is quite a premium over the competition. Expect to spend about $40 a person. Come for the quality, not the quantity.

A pretty cool hot pot place that is based with using skewers and also traditional plated items. This place is located on the second floor of Aberdeen Mall. The interior is quite spacious and has a modern feel to it. They also have lots of spicy items that are on the skewers. They give you a tablet to order what you want. Its also nice as there are pictures of the items. The skewers generally are $0.90 (CAD) each, but keep in mind that the portion size is small. If you want spicy broth, they have this special pouch of spicy liquids that they empty into your broth. They also have a sauce station or you can opt out and let them prepare it for you (which we did). The special part about the sauce is that it comes in a little can that you often and pour and mix with the toppings. Overall, it was a great experience and we were able to try out many different items as the portion size was just right.

We enjoyed a really good a la carte hot pot. The quality of the food was better than buffet style. We paid extra to create our own sauces. The spicy soup base was flavourful. Service was very good and I was quite pleasantly surprised how often the staff stopped by to check up on the tables. It really depends if you like quality or quantity (buffet). I usually go for the buffets, but do appreciate the a la carte style once in awhile.

The Meat Carnival deal allows you to choose from five unlimited meat options: two kinds of beef, chicken, fish, and lamb. I skipped the chicken on the first round since I don't usually like it in hot pot. Personally, the lamb was just "meh," so I ended up ordering a lot of the beef instead. Pro-tip from our server: They suggested ordering the 1/4 soup pots (four grids) to save money. I got the tomato broth and my friend got the pork broth. In my opinion, HDL still has the best tomato broth in the game! Just a heads-up that veggies and noodles are extra. In the end, we spent about $60 per person after eating seven orders of meat in total. It's definitely worth it if you can eat a ton of protein; otherwise, you're better off coming during regular hours, as you won't save much if you aren't a big eater. The service was great! Super attentive and friendly throughout the night. 5 stars for the staff!

I liked their AYCE menu and had been wanting to come back, only to find out when we sat down that…read moreAYCE was no longer available. Huge bummer. We arrived around 9 PM and stood at the entrance for 3-5 minutes while multiple staff walked past us without any acknowledgment. Most tables were empty, so it wasn't clear whether we were supposed to seat ourselves. I eventually had to stop someone, who then brushed us off and grabbed someone else instead. After sitting down, I asked about AYCE and was told it was discontinued in October 2025. The waiter mentioned happy hour and said we could get an extra discount with a student ID, but when we showed our U.S. student IDs, they wouldn't accept them. Lame, but whatever. The price is acceptable during happy hour. The seats are uncomfortable, and the kitchen was very loud that night. The floor vibrated on and off throughout our meal. The biggest issue: bugs. They clearly know it's a problem since there's a small fan over the sauce station to keep the bugs away, but it didn't help. We found a dead bug in the sauce we made before dipping our food. There were also bugs flying over our food the entire time (see photos). That alone is unacceptable. Food came out almost instantly after ordering on our phones. Impressively fast. Everything tasted good, but I wouldn't order the spicy broth again. I know that's the style, but even at one-star spice it was extremely oily and overpowering for me. Another ongoing annoyance was staff constantly messing with our stove. On both visits, we ordered multiple broths. The spicy broth boiled aggressively because of all the oil, while the non-spicy broth barely simmered. We didn't like the spicy broth at all and just wanted the non-spicy one hot enough to actually cook food. Every time I turned up the heat, staff immediately turned it back down because the spicy broth was boiling. As a result, the non-spicy broth never properly boiled the entire meal, and our food was likely undercooked. Extremely frustrating. Last time we came, we got complimentary ice cream at the end. This time, we didn't. I assumed they stopped offering it, but based on other recent reviews, they just didn't give us one. I'm not coming back until AYCE is back and the bug problem is actually fixed.

Furthermore, the voucher had zero mentions of any restrictions regarding the "All You Can Eat" menu, yet they refused to honor it at the time of payment. I was forced to pay the bill out of my own pocket! On top of the terrible voucher experience, the dining experience itself was highly disappointing and unsafe: Menu Cutbacks: All of their fried appetizers were completely crossed out from the menu, yet they are still charging the exact same price! If you are craving fried appetizers, I highly recommend asking the staff if they actually have them before you sit down. Safety Hazard: Please watch out when your hot pot boils! The soup overflows and leaks straight down from the edge of the pot into the space right underneath, which is exactly where the customer's legs are. This is a massive burn hazard! Between the terrible service and dangerous pot design, I will never return. Save your money and go somewhere else. Again, their voucher giveaway is a total scam!!!
