I brought a guest from out of town and having heard that the place had been updated, I decided to take a chance. What a mistake! The place was dirty. The service was unbelievably bad. When the food came, we had to laugh. The presentation was as bad as the taste. The server took the drink orders and never returned. We went there for dinner last night, I had made reservations the day before and they even called to confirm the day of. We get there a little early and said there would be a hour wait even with reservation, they said they double book. What! We finally get seated outside and waited 15 minutes for a waiter. She brings us water and don't see her again for 10 minutes. Also we looked around and there were at least 6 empty tables. We have been there many times and had forgotten about the terrible service. Had a bad experience yesterday for lunch.we made reservations a week ago to take guests from Chicago to nice waterside restaurant. We were taken to a table against a wall as far from a view of the water as possible. The employee stated that each server gets clients to their section in order. Many tables were available against the window but they refused to move us. None of the tables with a view were occupied for over 45 minutes. Never going back! read more

We were at the Fisherman's Village on a cool Wednesday afternoon. We were told to wait 45 min, but it was only about 25. (just enough time to get a round of drinks and sit outside for a few minutes) We sat inside and ordered after hearing specials. (we already had drinks). My father and I had the lobster grilled cheese w/ marscapone. Personally, I feel it was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had despite being a little cooler than I would have liked. Amazing view out in the patio for sunset! Megan was an amazing waitress, we had a wonderful experience! Watching the sun go down over the water with great good & company made us realize the Captain's Table is quickly going to become one of our favorite spots! Definitely asking for Megan again next time we come, she was so great! Personable, kind, helpful...she really took good care of us & we can't wait to come back! Location, Location, Location! I visit the Captains Table at least once a season as it is a great meeting spot for my Naples pal. What a wonderful surprise to see a major remodel took place over the summer. The bar is all opened up, everything is modern and contemporary. Very fresh feeling. They take a reservation via Open Table and that is a great thing to do in season. We were able to sit outside with a view of the water. So lovely. Service is consistently good, they all hustle when it is busy. My only disappointment is that the menu has also become a bit more "trendy" or contemporary. I missed some of the more basic offerings. Same ownership has a more casual open air restaurant on the first level. Seating there is along the lines of tables and benches. It's ok, we just prefer to be more comfortable upstairs. There are golf cart shuttles to get people from the parking lots if you need it. I will be back! read more

The hostess and server were friendly and accommodating. We sat outdoors on the deck with a beautiful view of Charlotte Harbor. My wife ordered the coconut shrimp. She got 5 shrimp on a bed of lettuce that was wilted and brown which made the item not very appetizing in appearance. Pointed it out to the server and she said it "doesn't look good" and she would let the kitchen know. I ordered the fried grouper sandwich. The filet was HUGE and 1/2" thick. It came with fries. I have lived in Florida a long time and it is hard to believe that this was truly grouper for $18. The fish was good and flaky despite my doubts. There are other options on the wharf with nice views that were busier and crowded and their menus looked inviting. We won't return to the Captain's Table. read more

20th wedding anniversary 6-23-15 My husband reserved our table, we were seated promptly. Our server was Bobby. Absolutely amazing. From the moment we sat down, to walking out, we had the very best time ever! They had an anniversary card on the table waiting for us with candles lit! Very disappointed, made a reservation for NYE for 7:30, early seating, given a table by the kitchen door! We physically moved our table to an open space away from the door, after asking to be moved and told there wasn't any other tables available! We have been here many times and every time we have had a good dinner, tonight was not the night. Had to ask for the NYE menu, had to flag down our waitress for a cocktail, prime rib was to come with mashed potatoes, came with baked. Group of eight across us when their dinners arrived their waiter set the service tray next us while he serve AND gathered their empty appetizer plates RIGHT NEXT TO US! The grouper sandwich was fishy and totally inedible. Fries were your basic frozen ones. The bbq sandwich was better but nothing to write home about. The view was great and we saw several dolphins and it is pet friendly. When I told our server that the grouper was fishy she replied "well grouper is " fishy tasting" her name was Madison. Really Madison? I have had a fish sandwich every day since I came to buy a house and never had something that tasted this bad. Don't do it. Too many better places. Glad I found out early. The Good, the Bad, and the Worse... The Good: Spectacular harbor views...just incredibly spectacular. More Good: Beautiful lighting and chandeliers. Interior is quite nice. There is an elevator for those with mobility issues. Final Good: Waitress was excellent...timely, friendly, cheerful. The Rest: You are paying for the view and the restaurant ambiance. Parking is difficult in the area which is not a fault of this restaurant, but keep it in mind if you have someone with mobility issues. You will need to drop them off and then find parking. We were a party of five ordering lunch entrees and nonalcoholic bevs. The lunch menu is very small so you may have to settle on something. We ordered chicken sandwiches, seafood combos (one friend, one broiled), Crabcake Sandwich, Gold & Red Beet Salad. The crabcake sandwich went half eaten and leftovers not taken home. The chicken sandwich review was, "It was okay." The gold & red beet salad was very, VERY tiny. We paid the additional $$$ for the grilled chicken. The salad was nothing spectacular, but the upsell chicken was very good. The two seafood combos fared much better with, "It was pretty good." For all of this, the price was high. Charlotte Harbor is gorgeous on a sunny, warm day, but find another way to view it--a less expensive way with better food. read more

I have been to restaurants since COVID began as we live in New York - we came down to Florida to visit with family and we wanted to go to a special dinner to treat everyone and we chose Captains Table. We walked in and the floor was in disrepair but I overlooked that thinking it will be a nice place to see the boats and water. Well we arrived at 130pm and sat right away. We got water right away and then we waited - we ordered drinks and we waited - my husband had to go to the bar to get the drinks - We toasted to good times and we waited - and waited and waited - Our waitress was everywhere but at our table- three tables sat and ate and had drinks right away and paid their bill before we got our food - Management didn't feel they needed to compensate us so there was no discount for our trouble - I shared with the Manager how upset we all were and he blamed the hostess. Years ago we took our family to Captains Table and it was very nice whatever happened now between the Manager, the hostess, the waitress and bartender was ridiculous!!!!! It was a waste of our time our money and our patience. What should have been a mice afternoon turned into a frustrating regretful way to spend our afternoon together. Shame on the new owners and shame on the staff - taking what could have been and made it into a has-been!!!! Never again!!!! read more

Head good things about this place so thought to give it a try., The Bloody Mary cocktail was one of the worst I've ever had. My wife ordered a southern comfort Manhattan and we had to send it back as it was more like an Old Fashioned. The view of course was outstanding and if you don't care about how drinks are made then ok. Food was fairly typical and nothing to write home about. The waitress was friendly courteous and efficient but was covered in body art. Very unattractive for an old school guy. We used the free valet parking and it worked out well for us. It is not well advertised as they would rather have you walk several hundred yards from general parking so you can walk past all the tourist trap shops. The best thing about this was the view. In town to see family for father's day and maybe I am a bigger city snob, but when I used the restroom the fan was covered with thick dust. That was after we took the elevator up with dead bees in it (they were by the stairs as well). The food was hot when it came out and tasted fine. The view is the best part to see the harbor. The kids had buttered pasta and it came out reasonable fast and was very hot. Prices are reasonable. There are more limited options in Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda so it is a nice place, but not to my full standards - again I may be a bigger city snob then, but I still have my clean standards. read more

The service was absolutely awful and then when we finally received our food it was cold and they gave us all the wrong entrees. I will never go back here in my life. omg. got the $30 hog fish-it was dry as a bone. Furthermore, I looked up on Florida fishing guide minimum size requirement. needless to say I had a small mutton snapper or mangrove snapper at best. Very very small portion of asparagus and rice to go with my little minnow. Total tab with 3 cocktails- 100 bucks. Lived here for two years and have hit all of the restaurants and was very much looking forward to the treat of the "CAPTAINS TABLE". I live in Fort Myers and drove an hour to give this restaurant a try. I had some friends in town visiting and told them to meet me at 6pm. My husband and I arrived at location at 5:20 and was told it would be about a 40 minute wait. No problem. At 5:30, another hostess came in and she was absolutely nasty as we overheard how she spoke to people after we had checked in. That should have been our sign but we waited patiently. An hour into our wait, we checked back into the hostess stand only to be told it would be another 40 minutes. It was a Monday night and by no means did we expect a long wait. We were told they were short staffed and we should have come into the restaurant early that day to make reservations. Who does that? Anyway we continued to wait because we were enjoying the conversation with our friends. Then we realized we were approaching the 2 hour mark and once again we inquired at the hostess stand. They couldn't give us a time that we could be seated! We left and walked to another restaurant nearby and enjoyed a wonderful meal within a short window of time. The food was just awful, especially considering the bill was $243 - I had stuffed lobster that was pure salt - I had chosen that because the crabcake appetizer was so delicious, thinking that the stuffed crab, in the lobster, would be the same...not even remotely. Captain's Table is bad. Real bad. I'm giving it one star because the staff was somewhat friendly and, well, Yelp doesn't allow zero stars. There's a definite theme at this restaurant. It's like 1980s cheesiness meets Spanish explorers meets Italian disgustingness. I think it's actually supposed to be a "fine dining" restaurant, but there is nothing fine about it. It's just downright tacky, but with a good view of Charlotte Harbor. The food is terrible. I ordered the Barcelona chicken and had to send it back. I took one bite of that soggy mess and almost gagged. My husband ordered the mango bourbon BBQ pork tenderloin and it was burnt to a crisp on one side. And the mashed potatoes were crusty. Ugh. Also, they have a $19 herb crusted tilapia on their menu. $19 for Tilapia?!?! You've got to be kidding. read more

From all we had heard we were expecting an elegant dining experience which turned out to be much more of a casual one. Service was OK but again not exceptional. The staff was very young and clearly inexperienced but they tried. We we would go back for a light fare of appetizers and possibly a dessert. At the mercy of my grandparents, we ended up at Captain's Table one afternoon. They typically go there to have the buffet, which they love, but it wasn't running for some reason on this day. Reading the previous review, I was terrified, but promised myself I would make my own experience. At first I was put off. The hostesses we a bit.........immature? Rude? I don't know, they just didn't give off the vibe that they cared about our presence, giggling amongst themselves well after we'd approached the hostess stand. Once we were seated though, our waiter was attentive and understanding of our need to wait for the two more people in our party. Even after 30 minutes of waiting, he kept a cheery disposition. We started with the fried calamari. It wasn't the best I'd ever had, a bit chewy, but not inedible. I had the veggie melt, which was good, though I wish it'd had some sort of spice or sauce accompanying it to make it more flavorful. My husband ordered the "Black Russian" which was a pastrami, roast beef, BLT. It was a huge portion and he took half home, which is a rarity for him. I tried some of the sandwich...it was a bit meaty for my liking, but for you carnivores out there, it might be your best choice. Contrastingly, my grandfather ordered the turkey reuben and he said it was good, but there wasn't enough turkey on it. My grandmother ordered the special - crabbed-stuffed sole, which she thought was "wonderful". Our guests had the pineapple bowl and the soup, which they both loved. Overall, the food is just OK to me. The views were outstanding, however, and if I were in the area, I would stop to have a drink and enjoy the view before tooling around in the shops of Fisherman's Village. read more
