Read about Rum Bay online and decided to try it out for lunch. You need to take a water taxi to this location since it's on an island. Water taxi is $6 round trip. You can take a barge with your car but you have to be a resident, so we were told. The water taxi runs about every 30 minutes. The boat is clean, has good seating and Captain Denis is very respectful of the waterways and possible manatees and dolphins in the water. Once we got to the restaurants, we found the establishment clean and comfortable. We ate at the bar. The bartender is friendly and helpful. My husband had a shrimp po'boy and I had a grilled grouper sandwich. They were very nicely prepared and delicious. Don't be put off by the need to take a water taxi. Be adventurous and try different places with patience and kindness. You'll enjoy the experience.

Updating my Yelp review after so many visits here over 7 years. I guess they are like our "Cheers" spot. All of the servers are great. After some struggles they have a new chef and a new menu, and everything has been great. Tried the new smash burger, really good. This is the only restaurant on the Island, accessible by ferry. But you can take the water taxi for a nice trip on the water!

Dry Mahi, peppery vegi's, and very plain slaw. The waiter said the slaw had mango in it...it does not.

The restaurant itself was a little outdated. The workers however were all very nice. The food was all very basic and bland though (except the over peppered vegis). The food came out somewhat Luke warm to cold. My Mahi was very dry and the mango salsa was full of basically peppers. My husband got a swamp burger that was supposed to have bacon, cheese and swamp sauce. It came out very dry and over cooked and had bo sauce on it. My sisters chicken pomadora was very cold and the sauce was very "dry". The best part of the meal was the conch fritter because you could taste the conch but even those were extreamly greasy. I hope they can step it up a bit because we have been here a bunch and it keeps going down hill.

Chicken Pomodoro was okay, however the chicken was a little dry. Also wish the salad came out before the rest of the meal.

We have enjoyed Rum Bay over the years, but have to say the food has gradually been slipping. The service was decent and we love the ambiance of seeing the palm trees on Palm Island.

We went for my birthday one afternoon. Had a fantastic time with my wife here. We took the $6/person water taxi over to Rum Bay Restaurant. It's a much more enjoyable experience then just rolling up into the parking lot. We decided to have a drink at the bar before lunch. CJ was the mixologist of the day and made a very refreshing Grey Goose and tonic! We never left the bar that afternoon. We haven't been back since hurricane Ian hit. We will return to have CJ pour us a few more for us....

Initially we were excited to find my husband's favorite wine, KJ Merlot, at this place, but it took a long time to get it to the table as our server had higher priorities. Hubby ordered fried fish and when it was served by a food runner, the outside breading was ridiculously dark. Hubby said the fish was overcooked, but okay; however, the french fries were undercooked. I ordered the chicken breast topped with crab dip. I got a small taste from my fork and the flavor was good. Unfortunately, I had to saw with my knife to try and get through the chicken. It was rubbery as if cooked in a microwave and was not edible. I sent it back to the kitchen. I was not interested in trying anything else at this point and just waited for hubby to finish eating. Wish I remembered to snap a picture. I don't recommend this restaurant - there are plenty of good places around, and we are trying as many as we can.

I started with the pain pill cocktail - their version of a pain killer. It was really tasty. It came in a very tall glass with some cinnamon sprinkle. The pineapple was fresh. While I looked over the menu, she brought out some warm crusty rolls with salted butter. Yummmmm. I was famished so I dug in. They had so many things on the menu I was a bit in information overload. I started with the coconut shrimp, which they say is a house specialty. The dipping sauce was interesting - like a cold coconut milk? The shrimp were butterflied and lightly fried. There is four on the plate. Pretty good. For dinner, I had the fresh catch with mashed potatoes and the zucchini medley. The medley had zucchini. squash, onions and red bell pepper in it. They have other sides like sweet potato as well. You get your choice of two. The entree came with a side salad. It was a small portion. It had some sweet candied nuts on it, with some shredded mixed cheese and a side of their house French dressing. Some of the pieces of lettuce were really long so it was kinda messy to eat. The red snapper was my choice of fresh catch. I asked for it grilled but the other option is blackened. The fish was a good portion. About 6 to 8 ounces. The mashed potatoes were delicious. I enjoyed my meal and I was too stuffed for dessert. But I saw the bread pudding with ice cream at another table. Wow! The scoop of ice cream on that dish was huge! The key lime ice cream pie sounded interesting and I imagine they have a good tiramisu. Next time I'll get dessert. Service was stellar. I was not bothered but I was checked on often for another drink and water etc. plates were cleared often but did not distract me. I really enjoyed being outside because they had a one man band playing guitar and singing so wonderfully. It's a gorgeous setting outside. A bit warm, but I was gross from golf anyways. They do have quite a few fans but I'm glad I was away from them. I hate when I'm trying to eat and it's all I can do to keep my hair from blowing in my face and mouth from overzealous ceiling fans. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. Parking is a private lot out front and I easily found a space. This place was recommended by a coworker. I am so glad I took her recommendation!

(First of all, the word Bistro refers to French style cooking not Italian.) The reviews we read indicated that Isabella's would be worth trying. It isn't. If you are from the mid-West and think Pizza Hut serves excellent pizza, this restaurant is for you because you have never experienced genuine Italian cuisine. It takes a long time to get your food. It should not take 40 minutes to get your salad. It was warm and wilted. Isabella's must have a tiny kitchen or a very sparse kitchen staff. My pasta dish was smothered in mozzarella. As was my wife's Sampler dish of rollatini, manicotti, and lasagna. Manicotti should be light and savory covered only in a delicious sauce, not buried under a heavy layer of mozzarella. By the way, the sauce is too salty. The Chicken Francese dish was too soggy to enjoy. You can pick up the bread at any supermarket. I thought the dipping oil was excellent, nothing else. The preparation of the food is at best only mediocre. The ladies on the staff were very nice and they work very hard. Isabella's could be better. The chef needs to spend a month travelling around Italy, especially Sicily, to update Isabella's recipes. The restaurant is always packed, so there must be many non-Italians who think this is good Italian food.
