I just suggested this place to a girl on Facebook through the "Nashville Girls Group" Page. And I realized I had not yet written a yelp review and thought I should do that too. Last year my car was low on oil and I stopped by this shop thinking that I needed a complete oil change when, in fact, I did not. They were honest and told me that it wasn't necessary and they topped off my oil, free of charge. Then this past August my car was occasionally having some issues where my car was sputtering with engine surges when in idle. I once again came into their shop where they completed a vehicle inspection and found no issues. They took it for a test drive and still found nothing. I guess my vehicle didn't do for them what it was doing for me. Because they could not find anything wrong, they did not charge me anything. How rare is that these days?! My car still does it on occasion and they said for me to just bring it back the next time it was acting up so that they could get a better idea of what I was experiencing. Embarrassingly enough, I finally needed a complete oil change this past Fall and because I was in another area of town that day, I went to another business to get it done. They informed me on how terrible my brakes and rotors were, but I could not have the work done at that time. Fast forward a few months, I took my car to The Car People and their quote for the work was so much better. I really like these guys. I had to get my brakes and rotors replaced. Plus some additional things I needed (such as the air filter and because I had an oil leak I needed a valve cover gasket replaced) They offered a 10% discount for being a new customer. Plus an additional 10% off for applying for their auto-maintenance card, Synchrony. You don't have to except the card, or use the card, or even be approved for the card in order to get that additional 10% off. It took my total from $1741.84 down to $1343.50 Many cars just require having the brakes replaced but I have a BMW and the rotors are extremely worn down and had to be replaced as well. Purchased a Groupon for an oil change package. The first oil change took about 2 hours even though I had an appointment. Shortly afterward noticed some smoking under the hood and unusual gauge readings but it went away after a couple days. Next oil change was less than 30 minutes. A few days later, driving on the highway, temperature gauge maxed out, steam spitting out from under the hood, I had to stop and pop the hood. The coolant overflow hose had been replaced with a flimsy hose that had antifreeze bubbling out of both ends. The car is a 2014 and hasn't had any issues at all, only routine maintenance. Took it back to The Car People and asked why they would have messed with any part of the cooling system during an oil change...especially without mentioning it. I was told they have cameras in the shop; however, the tape from my oil change date was missing (and the two possible mechanics had just been fired anyway). Was also told that Dodge Avengers have this problem all the time and it was bound to happen sooner or later. The manager told me he called the nearby Dodge dealership and was told my warranty had expired. Had to leave the car the entire day to have it looked at. I was told that I could get the friends and family discount: $862. They left another unrelated component opened under the hood. Now I am riding around in the Springtime with the Heat on Hell until I can afford to get my car repaired at the dealership. All I needed was an oil change. BEWARE. Update: I called the Dodge dealership and was told I have 12,000 miles left on the warranty. read more

Is there a way to give 6 stars? If so, I would. I can't say enough great things about The Car People. I drive over 45 minutes to get to them, and there's a reason for that. I never feel like they're trying to gouge me or sell me things unnecessarily. In fact, there's times where they'll say "you don't need new brake pads this oil change, but you may need it next time" to prepare myself. After reading the reviews, especially the one where the lady said they were so honest and topped her oil off for free and another time drove her car and found nothing wrong with it and didn't charge her anything, I called about a suspension issue with my vehicle. The earliest appointment was about 10 days later and on Labor Day which was not ideal but I kept the appointment. I called back to confirm that they would drive my car and let me know what it needed before incurring any charges. The lady I was speaking with assured me they would. I dropped my car off and again explained what was going on with the vehicle and was told they would give it a drive, check it out and give me a call. I called an Uber to pick me and take me home. On my way home the lady called to again asking what issues I was having with the vehicle and then told me there would be a $75.00 diagnostic charge. I asked her why she didn't tell me this up front instead of waiting till I was paying an Uber driver to take me home. I told her this caused me to distrust this company and their practices and that I would be coming back to get my vehicle. When I returned I voiced my frustration and the same man who was sitting there when I brought the vehicle in and heard my conversation with her chimed in to inform me that he was the manager at that location and he was training her. I suggested he train her to inform people up front about their charges! He then proceeded to scold me asking if I expected people to do things for free. I told him no, I expect them to be honest and state their charges up front. Had they done that I would have paid the $75.00 but because of the way they handled this I couldn't trust them to tell me whether I needed and oil change or an engine replacement. To the owners of this business. You need a better manager! A smart manager would have realized his mistake of failure to properly train the employee and waived the diagnostic free, not just because it's the right thing to do, but I assure you it's worth more than $75.00 not to have this bad review!!!!! read more

My mom and I were driving from St. Louis to Florida when we were forced to stop due to a busted muffler. The muffler shop down the street recommend these guys after noticing that we had a transmission leak. Wayne was able to fix the car within just a few hours and even stayed late to do so. Not only did he do a wonderful job but he was also extremely kind throughout the entire process and genuinely cared that we made it home safe. These are. Good. People. I have never felt ripped off or gauged price wise and I don't feel like they are ever fishing for problems. They don't charge you for what they don't find and only fix what they do find. They also consult you before doing hundreds of dollars of work, which I've not always found with other mechanics. Terrible service. I was having issues with my car and went here after talking to one of the workers who seemed very knowledgeable about cars. I wasn't too keen of spending $130 on a diagnostic test, but I figured that he knew what he was doing. I arrived early morning to drop off my car and was told that I was able to get a ride back to work. I definitely got a ride back to work but it was in a filthy, oil stained truck that stained my khakis. My car was supposed to be ready by noon. I called around 3:00 pm and was told that the rep was going to call me earlier because he wasn't finish with the diagnostic test and didn't want to call me beforehand until his work was complete. He said that he would give me a call at 5 pm to arrange a pick up for me. I didn't hear anything and called at 5:10 pm so that I wasn't stranded at work. No one answered so one of my coworkers drop me off at the shop. When I arrived, my car was sitting outside parked. I was very infuriated at this point because hadn't I gotten there a minute later, they were going to close shop without informing me about my car. The staff could see that I was upset and tried to apologize for everything. Long story short, I had to come back to the shop twice to resolve some issues from original, expensive test that weren't fixed. I won't be coming back here, ever. read more
