One star only to be able to post the review. Hiring Parnell is the worst decision you would make in your entire life. It is a big fraud and financial abuse. Nothing good about TC's regarding quality or managing the project. Lying all the way. Disrespectful customer service. Bad service and quality of works! I hired Parnell to build my kitchen cabinets. Took over a month, after rescheduling several times. He never returned my calls and when he did he was very rude! In the contract he was supposed to order the doors form a company by the lied and made them out of cheap woods! When I asked him, he was rude and stopped answering my calls. Terrible and stressful experience!!! Hired him to install two bathroom floors in our tenants house. First he didnt show up and later texted me later after I had been waiting for him for 30min saying that he had a family emergency. So I had to reschedule my tenants hotel stay and everything for 2 weeks later. I thought okay, emergencies happen, but I did plan on deducting the amount I paid to reschedule the hotel stay. Two weeks later thankful he shows up and is on time. He demos half of the first bathroom and realizes that we had gray water damage (which we already know) and says our insurance should cover the costs. So we call our insurance to get an adjuster out, but this happened over a year ago and we are on a time crunch because the tenants are at a hotel to shower. So I message him at 3pm to come in the next day. No response. I'm at the house the next day waiting for him and nothing. 30min later he messages me apologizing and says he will be there tomorrow. I ask him why he can't come in today. Nothing again. Now it's Wednesday and he is suppose to get the schutter floor in today, he finds that our water valves need to be replaced and can't do the floors while we get the parts. Charges us $150/hr for anything outside the floor job. I have my dad go over since I'm at work. We think it's handled but I guess he left since he made an arrangement with my tenant to finish the schutter floors at 8pm that day. I had my tenants calling me asking where he was. I call him and he says he will head over immediately, but right after he texts me his apologies and that he can't make it. I ask if he can still finish by Friday. He is super rude to me after that, but now we are almost forced to work with this jerk because of our time crunch.He acts like I should be thanking him for his work so far (all he did was demo and not show up and now it was going to be Thursday). I found the Carpetners' Son on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Parnell was very attentive and took on my small job of repairing a cabinet where the previous owner of the home decided to cut off part of the cabinet to make room for a larger refrigerator. Parnell took a look at the damage and quoted me a price which was reasonable. 2 weeks later he came back with a perfectly matched replacement piece and did a flawless installation. I was really impressed and would definitely use him again. Also, very polite and a good communicator. read more

I have worked with Rick for several years and received quality work but my latest kitchen job was completely horrific. Every step needed to be redone SEVERAL times. And in the end my quartz countertop still has a visible seam. I told him on multiple occasions that I need this simple job of painting and countertop replacement to be impeccable since I am selling, retiring and relocating. But there wasn't any concern for doing a good job. At any rate, I would not recommend this company for even the smallest job because it is clear that they don't care anything about their work product or even getting good referrals anymore... only getting paid. :( read more

I'd like to preface this review by stating that I'm 100% NOT related to anyone who works at this business nor am I a friend of anyone who works here. I know how annoying it is to doubt the veracity of a review. So, be that as it may, I'd like to review this shop because it's deserving an honest review. -------- My wife and I are expecting our first child in August, and we needed to have her own childhood bassinet evaluated and refurbished prior to us feeling comfortable enough to put our newborn in it. I am new to the Bay Area, so I had no idea which sort of carpenter shops would be the best one for this sort of job. Lastly, I have 0 knowledge about anything woodworking related so I knew that I'd be especially easy to bamboozle if someone wanted to regarding this project. So, I clicked on the first link that popped up when I put in something like nearby carpenter's in google and called the number. I left a message on the machine stating briefly the scope of what I needed and my contact number. I was promptly called back by a very professional and articulate man. We went over what I wanted to do, and he said he'd take a look at it. I work long hours and couldn't come by until 6pm that day. He was more than willing to meet me then. While there, he evaluated the bassinet and agreed to the top end price I wanted to pay to get it refinished / refurbished. The very next morning at about 7am he sent me a legit invoice, and pictures / a schematic of the bassinet project. WOW. Do you know any small shops that have this type of professionalism? I haven't ever seen one like that. He even recommended some additional add-on's and asked for permission with a cost analysis prior to me telling him to go ahead. The bassinet was ready within 72 hours of when I initially brought it in for evaluation. So... Bottom line - What did the bassinet look like? It was phenomenal. He refinished it, refurbished it, and made it look phenomenal. Furthermore, he came in under budget. Oh, and what else? his customer service (I think his name was Parnell) was great. he even LENT me some blankets and rope so I could secure it safely in the bed of my truck because I forgot them. He actually TRUSTED me, a concept lost on most businesses. I recommend this shop to anyone who needs a small or big project involving a very technically savvy, honest, professional, and punctual carpenter. Well done. read more

I called Parnell to get an estimate on a project and he came out that day to take a look. He listened to what we were thinking and I solicited suggestions from him also. We agreed upon a price and scheduled a day for him to come work. He showed up on time and even came back a bit later since there was a delay on our part. The finished job was beautiful. We had him open up two partition walls and finish the edges. He matched 40 year-old wood well, and you can tell he took the time to make the little details look great as well. read more

Terrible experience ! Negotiated to trim and adjust my main door struck issue and was told it will take more than 2hr works and charge me $150 ($92/hr rate). But complete all work in 20min. Asked for him to install door stopper and he claim he needs to get part but never return. after calling him a few times and end up doing it myself. He give a quote for my Woden gate replacement but when I commit to do it, ask me to pay deposit now for service schedule 1mth later!!! Bad service and quality of works! read more

The Carpenters Son is so appropriate for this business. They did a Heavenly job with the new workstation in my guess room. I basically had an open space in my guess room. The service representative from the carpenters son came in evaluated the space, asked detailed questions; design preference, functional use, current budget, and the most important, what did my wife want the space to look like? He took that information and recommended a beautiful workstation with a drawer and private cabinet. I am very pleased (so is my wife) with the work. The service was timely and professional. When the work was done, all the debris was removed and the workstation was thoroughly cleaned. read more
