I have taken my cats here for boarding 4 times and each time has been a great experience. Susan is always so sweet and accommodating! I get nervous having to leave my cats when I go out of town but they honestly love staying there at the chalet. They don't come home anxious or "off" like I've noticed with past boarding experiences. Also, my cat Binx is really stubborn when it comes to grooming but Susan was able to groom him and give him the best hair cut he's ever had! :)

Little Guy loving it at Cat Chalet.

Thrilled with the Cat Chalet. Left Little Guy for a week and a not sure he wanted to come home. This is his Go To Place. Wonderful atmosphere and caring people. Thanks!

I can't say enough about the Cat Chalet and Susan and Stephanie. We were displaced from our home due to a fire and they quickly embraced us and took our cats in immediately. The cats are so well cared for and loved. A couple of them are very shy and they really made them comfortable. One cat needed twice daily insulin and another cat needed SUB Q fluid every day! They take care of the special needs and I know the cats were always getting the best care. The Chalet itself is amazing. So warm and comfortable... my cats didn't want to leave! I think them both for taking us under their wing for up to 2 months! I highly recommend The Cat Chalet in Reno!!!

    Teddy, pre-lion!

We are very happy that we found Susan at the Cat Chalet! We've never had our cats groomed before, but our long haired tabby, Teddy, desperately needed it. Teddy is 12 and has always had long flowing, silky floof, up until we moved to Reno. I believe that the dryness in the air is what made her super statically charged and this caused her to stop grooming herself. This turned her into a tangled, matted, sensitive-skinned mess. She stopped accepting pets from us and anytime we touched her, we'd shock her, every single time. So, we decided it was time to shave her beautiful hair off... A quick Google search gave us a couple of options, but after contacting a few, we went with Susan. She sent a really thorough email detailing what caused the matting and how a lion cut would benefit Teddy. So we took Teddy in for her first grooming and she did pretty well overall. Susan said Teddy didn't like the blow dryer though, so she couldn't finish drying her - which I 100% appreciate that she stopped and didn't force her to endure unnecessary torture. And now, Teddy is doing great, she's like a whole new cat! She was chasing her tail all day, the day we brought her home and she hasn't done that in years! It's like she's lighter and carefree and if you don't have a cat that might sound nuts, but if you're a cat person, you get it. :) So although we loved her hair, it's her kitty body and the difference in her personality was so dramatic, we're definitely keeping up the cut. Lastly, when I went to pick Teddy up I also got a tour of the place and it's lovely! Susan does boarding there and the individual "rooms" for the cats is pretty large and it looks super cozy. I never thought I'd do outside boarding for our cats, but knowing this places exists will make planning our next vacation a little easier. :)

I wish we could give The Cat Chalet 10 stars instead of only five. Susan and her staff housed Bailey and Rory for a week while we were in the final stages of preparation for our move out of state. It was apparent that they received plenty of attention and care. These are "cat people," not simply people operating a pet hotel, and that's a big difference. They have earned the highest recommendation.

My dogs are very senior and they take very good care of them. Even when one of my huskies passed away recently, they were so kind and considerate. I always recommend this place for my dog parent friends in south Reno. Overall review: This place is extremely easy to schedule a time for daycare or boarding. You can call online or the app. I've never had an issue trying to get a booking when calling ahead. The stay is extremely kind and nice when I check in/out. My dogs had never had an emergency or issue while they were there. Experiences: They have these cute little photo/treat sessions with all the holidays. They're great to have that some other dog daycares do, but are 2X-3X the price. I love bringing my dog in just for these. Pricing: I think they're in the middle of the road cost compared to other places I take my dogs too. I think it's a pretty standard fee. However, knowing my dogs are taken care of is a great peace of mind. Facility: It's always clean when I bring my dog in, other places we have been too are not this clean. They have cameras so you can use the app to check in on your dog. There is easy parking. This is by far the closest and best place for me living in South Reno - Damonte Ranch area for dog boarding and daycare!

Camp Bow Wow of South Reno is incredibly unprofessional. I would strongly recommend looking…read moreelsewhere for daycare and boarding. We went in for a tour which was provided by the owner. During the tour we discussed that our dog would be 7 months old during his stay (DOB Aug 19th 2025, making him 7 months old and 16 days at the start of the boarding on April 4th 2026). Their policy is that dogs over 7 months old must be fixed, so since we were right at that point, we wanted to see if he needed to be fixed. WE WERE TOLD HE DID NOT NEED TO BE FIXED DURING OUR TOUR WITH THE OWNER. Once he passed the evaluation, we made our reservation with the assistant manager and again confirmed that everything was acceptable with his age and intact state. AGAIN, WE WERE TOLD EVERYTHING WAS ACCEPTABLE AND ALLOWED TO MAKE THE RESERVATION. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT THE MANAGER HAD SIGNED OFF SINCE IT WAS ON THE CUSP OF THE AGE REQUIREMENT. After drop off, he was suddenly isolated for most of his stay with no communication via app, text, or phone, despite us opting into all alerts. We only discovered this by viewing the cameras. We saw him once on the camera, in a play pen, alone. No staff interacting with him, no dogs, nothing. He was pacing the side of the pen clearly upset. Heartbreaking. At pickup I asked what was going on with our dog. The manager replied that there were no issues. I asked again why he was separated and got the same answer. I asked a third time and pointed to the monitor in the lobby and asked why he was isolated and stated that he was clearly upset (at this point he was alone in a play pen pacing, which was currently on the monitors in the lobby). She looked at her computer and told me it was because he's not neutered and over the age requirement since he was over 8 months. I was in disbelief, especially since he was in fact 7 months old. We had checked and double checked that this would not be an issue and were reassured it would not be. After telling me there wasn't an issue, she then tried to say they were unaware of his age when they made the reservation, another blatant lie. The manager claimed our dog was over 8 months old and said they had to follow the "7-month rule" (even though he was) or they could get in "big trouble". I said this appeared to be an internal policy since other facilities had difference age requirements, including one in Spanish Springs which was 12 months. The manager then proceeded to tell me that that facility uses cattle prods on the dogs in their care, so good luck taking our dog there...the unprofessional nature of this manager was astounding. At this point I asked for partial refund since daycare (included in the boarding fee) was not provided. The manager said she had to call the owner. She came back and said that the owner said because he was over 8 months old it was our fault and we signed a waver. I expressed my displeasure with that response, and she said she'd go call again. The manager never came back and instead sent the assistant manager to collect the fee. I asked where the discount was and she said that I wasn't paying for daycare just boarding...? While I was paying the assistant manager kept saying they didn't isolate our dog and took great care of him. Ironically, during this discussion another staff member walked in and interjected herself into the conversation and said that we received a phone call when they decided to separate our dog (yet another lie). The assistant manager looked at the staff member and told her to stop talking. I tried to inquire about this supposed phone call and our dog being 'separated' and the assistant manager told me to be the bigger person and just leave. The treatment our dog received was unacceptable. The staff are unprofessional and dishonest. I strongly recommend going anywhere else. I wish I had taken the other negative reviews more seriously.
