I have known Susan and Stephanie since we moved to Reno 11 years ago. If you are looking for a place that will pamper your cat and take away all that anxiety of leaving them, this is the place for you. They have separate rooms with oversized enclosures to accommodate all kinds of furry felines. They do get filled up so I sent our travel plans for the year to make reservations and Susan replied with a confirmation email making me feel better about leaving my girl. I can honestly say I am so impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the services they provide! When my cat is returned to me, he is happy, healthy and affectionate. They offer a texting hotline for you to contact them through and it is honestly so great. They respond quickly and make communication easy. You can trust this business. They love cats, and it shows. Each cat a relaxing individual space in a small room with a limited number of other cats. Each room is themed and super quiet. The cats all seem content, and my boy, Ted, isn't anxious to leave. He is always happy and well cared for when I pick him up. When the Davis fire happened, we had to evacuate and the Car Chalet helped us by taking Ted, no questions asked, and they cared for him like he was their own even administering the meds he needed. I have taken my cats here for boarding 4 times and each time has been a great experience. Susan is always so sweet and accommodating! I get nervous having to leave my cats when I go out of town but they honestly love staying there at the chalet. They don't come home anxious or "off" like I've noticed with past boarding experiences. I have three long hair Tuxedo cats: Sarahn-Getti (2), Onyx (7), and Chuck (23). Chuck stopped grooming himself along the way, ending up with severe mats and pelts. Mind you, in human years he's about 110. I called his cat-only vet for some potential groomers and Cat Chalet was the only referral given me (that says something right there). Although heavily booked, Susan talked to me at length and got him in right away. She was so generous of heart and spirit. Chuck was not amused with the process but, my goodness, Susan sent me home an entirely new cat. Squeeky clean and mat/pain free, he pranced about the place every bit the Lion King, looking and behaving years younger. That was eight months ago. This week Chuck received his second Lion cut with all the same wonderful results. Unfortunately, two of my three cats have fur that's very prone to matting. Susan is my secret weapon, dispelling painful mats and promoting pure joy. Thank you Susan! read more

I love this place and the people there. They took care of my two boys while my house was getting work done on it. They loved them and took great care of them, gave them play time and gave them comfy blankets. The place has an elegant feel, with calming music and peace and quiet- a wonderful environment for a kitties. The people at Cat Chalet don't let visitors pet your cats...something I didn't realize would be an issue until a different boarding place opened a condo door for me to pet someone else's cats. I felt uncomfortable with that other place. Cat chalet staff won't let others pet your cats and they are strict on that rule, for the kitty's safety and comfort. I can't say enough about the Cat Chalet and Susan and Stephanie. We were displaced from our home due to a fire and they quickly embraced us and took our cats in immediately. The cats are so well cared for and loved. A couple of them are very shy and they really made them comfortable. One cat needed twice daily insulin and another cat needed SUB Q fluid every day! They take care of the special needs and I know the cats were always getting the best care. The Chalet itself is amazing. So warm and comfortable... my cats didn't want to leave! I think them both for taking us under their wing for up to 2 months! I highly recommend The Cat Chalet in Reno!!! read more

We are very happy that we found Susan at the Cat Chalet! We've never had our cats groomed before, but our long haired tabby, Teddy, desperately needed it. Teddy is 12 and has always had long flowing, silky floof, up until we moved to Reno. I believe that the dryness in the air is what made her super statically charged and this caused her to stop grooming herself. This turned her into a tangled, matted, sensitive-skinned mess. She stopped accepting pets from us and anytime we touched her, we'd shock her, every single time. So, we decided it was time to shave her beautiful hair off... A quick Google search gave us a couple of options, but after contacting a few, we went with Susan. She sent a really thorough email detailing what caused the matting and how a lion cut would benefit Teddy. So we took Teddy in for her first grooming and she did pretty well overall. Susan said Teddy didn't like the blow dryer though, so she couldn't finish drying her - which I 100% appreciate that she stopped and didn't force her to endure unnecessary torture. And now, Teddy is doing great, she's like a whole new cat! She was chasing her tail all day, the day we brought her home and she hasn't done that in years! It's like she's lighter and carefree and if you don't have a cat that might sound nuts, but if you're a cat person, you get it. :) So although we loved her hair, it's her kitty body and the difference in her personality was so dramatic, we're definitely keeping up the cut. Lastly, when I went to pick Teddy up I also got a tour of the place and it's lovely! Susan does boarding there and the individual "rooms" for the cats is pretty large and it looks super cozy. I never thought I'd do outside boarding for our cats, but knowing this places exists will make planning our next vacation a little easier. :) read more

I am so happy I found the Cat Chalet! I recently relocated to Reno for a job and was staying at an extended stay hotel until I found the right apartment (about 7 weeks). My cat couldn't stay at the hotel unsupervised so I had to board him throughout the week and pick him up Fridays to spend the weekend together. Susan and Stefanie are outstanding and went above and beyond to give the best care for my cat. I was a little worried that the stress of the move and new environment would affect my cat negatively, but the Cat Chalet (including the staff) provided a calming and relaxed experience for him and came home his normal self (wasn't anxious or standoffish towards me). Susan was very helpful during my transition to Reno and allowed my cat to board earlier than originally planned. She also did a wonderful job grooming my cat as he needed a bath and a good trim. I wish we could give The Cat Chalet 10 stars instead of only five. Susan and her staff housed Bailey and Rory for a week while we were in the final stages of preparation for our move out of state. We had to relocate to another cat groomer because she thought we would bring a sick cat to her work even though she has records from our vets she requested before we started coming. I think it was miscommunication and we allowed her to speak our vets and clarify everything but just sad how things went. read more
