I was searching for a healthier option besides fried catfish and Google sent me to The Catch in Arlington. I am sooooo glad it did! I ordered 2 to-go orders of grilled white fish, vegetables, and fried okra. The girl on the phone was very pleasant. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was surprised to find a plain building without much pizzazz, but there seemed to be a steady stream of customers. Evidently, they all knew about this amazing restaurant long before my friend Google sent me there. The place was clean and there were patrons happily chatting at the tables. Anywho, the girl behind the counter was very nice and gave me my order right away. I was in a hurry, so darted out the door and drove to my friend's house. Upon arriving at my friend's, and saying our hellos, we sat down and opened the to-go boxes to see what was causing the wonderful aromas filling up the kitchen. Oh my goodness, what heavenly food awaited us! There were 2 large grilled pieces of white fish laying on a huge bed of rice, a heaping pile of sautéed vegetables, 2 hushpuppies, and another container filled to the brim with fried okra! We dug in and didn't stop until every single morsel was gone! It was all delicious! Next time I'm in Arlington, I hope to return to The Catch so I can try other menu items. I was there tonight and left. I know the food is good, but the customer service is awful. I placed my catfish order and waited. A couple came in after me and ordered the same thing 10 minutes later. They received their food before me. When I asked about this I was told condescendingly that some food takes longer to cook than others. It was the same thing. The older lady at the counter made it very clear she didn't care about what happened. And no apology was offered. She processed my money back without a care about this problem. Wow. Love this place! Great fish my husband and I prefer the white fish over the catfish. It is a thicker fillet and has a great, light texture. Absolutely adore their red beans and rice. Have not really tried anything else because once you find something you like it is hard to branch out and try something else. There is always a lot of people at the Little Road location and the bar is always busy with people laughing and talking. Last Minute Dinner.... We wanted something close to home and the reviews were good. This is an order at the counter restaurant. So check out the great menu before you come to make a faster order process. We ordered fried green tomatoes to start. I LOVE FGT and try them everywhere I can. So many places make them fancy. These are good, corn mill breaded and fried FGT like my dad used to make SOOOOOO GOOD! My husband had oysters that were really good as well. Then for the main meal.... Since the reviews of the whitefish were good, we both ordered some. I ordered a "grilled house favorite" of whitefish served with two sides. I chose the red beans and rice and coleslaw. I don't know what the sauce was, but it was a great match for the whitefish. I don't think I've tasted whitefish this good - at this price. The whitefish was served on a bed of rice, which was cooked perfectly. Although the coleslaw wasn't bad, I've had better. Nothing to comment on the garlic bread. It's the red beans and rice that was outstanding. I didn't know something so common could be that good. This is probably the best red beans and rice in town! How was the fried combo? The first thing we noticed was that nothing looked or tasted greasy. The whitefish tasted just as tender and tasty as the grilled version. The batter was crunchy but delicate and didn't compete with the fish. The shrimp was also amazing. Loved it! The fries were cut in fine strips. The taste was unusually clean. Beware for those on low carb diets, the fries are addictive. The okra was just as good. They were cut in small pieces and fried to perfection. We left very happy. No wonder this place is so popular. For many of the good things we tried, there was immediately "a catch". Decent prices means a handful of seafood and a whole lot of fries. We liked the fried okra, fried shrimp, and chicken tenders. Their batter tastes good and has a great consistency. It was fun trying all the different seasonings they had on the table and combining them with the sauces available at the condiments station. But no amount of tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or "Slap Ya Mama" could make the oysters palatable. The rest of the po' boy was great (thick, buttery toast with lettuce and tomatoes glued on by a generous serving of mayo) but that's not where the bulk of my money is going. This is a clean, casual restaurant that would be a good spot for a quick seafood lunch. Fish was hot, fresh, and tastes decent. We got the catfish baskets and the portions and prices were both fair....we were very surprised by the portions - you get a good amount! But the fish lacked flavor, and they have bottles of Cajun seasoning in the table so I think they are aware of that. We are seafood lovers, and are from Houston where great seafood is easy to come by. So this place didn't 'wow' us, but we do appreciate that they have catfish rather than SWAI and that it was fried crispy and was served fresh. My husband got shrimp and tenders and he enjoyed both. Hubby Ross and I went for a lunch date today and they were doing a hopping business around the 12n-1pm hour. We asked what the difference is between whitefish, catfish and catch-fried fish and were told the whitefish is like cod, the catfish is farm raised and the catch-fried is imported catfish. Being a non-seafood girl, I'm still not sure, but I ordered the regular whitefish with cole slaw instead of fries. This was $8.49 and was one piece of fish, good coleslaw, 2 hush puppies and a lemon wedge....not much for the price. The fish was lightly battered (a tempura type batter) and the tartar sauce had a little spice to it - not sweet like some places tend to be. The hush puppies were average. Hubby ordered the catfish and fried crawfish plate for $12.99 and his came with one piece of catfish and a decent serving of crawfish. Fries and two hush puppies rounded out his basket. A slice of key lime pie to split for dessert was good for $3.99. Two large drinks (non-alcoholic) and tax made the total bill, before gratuity $34.00 Overall, my entree was underwhelming for the price and hubby's was a fair value. I have had their blackened chicken previously and that was a much more generous serving (on a po-boy) and quite tasty. Think I"ll get something chicken-related next time we go! As we decide what we're going to order, she decides to order the seafood boil (1/2lb snowcrab, sausage, corn and melted butter) and I get the large shrimp and catfish basket (2 catfish filets, 4 shrimp, fries and hush puppies). The seafood boil and butter were both room temperature, As if they had been sitting waiting to be ordered. The catfish and shrimp were hot, however not worth the price. First of all, that isn't catfish that they're serving. Catfish doesn't get rubbery when fried. Overpriced for the size of the fish served. It looked like they took one filet and cut it in half and charged for 2. We can say we tried it and won't be back. read more

Used to be a Mexican food restaurant and a few other things. Oysters Rockefeller were just great. A little pricey for a counter service joint with a bar, but worth visiting just for that. Cheese was baked perfectly and came with a delicious slice of garlic bread. Miller Lite on tap. Outstanding. Tried red beans and rice. Not stingy on sausage. I wanted to love this restaurant. From the moment that I've pulled up, I had my reservations. It was tucked back off the road and I 20 and Green Oaks Road in Arlington. It looked like the cracker box that it is on the inside. I really was hoping to love the food, and hoped that it tasted like fish from Florida and Mexico. But since we were not in Florida in Mexico, guess what it did not taste like fish from Florida and Mexico. The letdown I experienced was immense. That is an understatement. Another reviewer wrote that the appetizers come out with the food. They do. I got the mahi-mahi over rice. I wanted it to be juicy and flaky the way I remembered other fresh catfish. But when I got instead was a frozen previously frozen piece of fish that was more dry than juicy. It was not even hot when I got it. I wonder how long it had been sitting waiting for someone to order it. needless to say I'm not coming back to the catch because it was not a catch for me. Oh did I mention how loud it was.?? Much to our surprise, our final receipt came back with an additional 3.5% upcharge for using our debit card. The final receipt stated the upcharge was for a non-cash transaction and was not disclosed to us prior to our giving the card to her and the transaction was completed. We were going to eat here. However while having a beer at the bar, we had a great view of the cooks, and the servers, and the bartender. One of the servers was eating, licking her fingers, sneezing into her hands and talking on her cell phone. All while handling food, utensils, and to go orders, and condiments. The bartender was worse. Coughing all over the place, eating, wiping her mouth with her hand, all while touching everyones glasses. Two of the three cooks looked like the just fell out of a boxcar.
