Probably the best dish out of all what we ordered Chicken tenders- very crispy and juicy 3pcs fried cod- seasoned well and pretty tasty Sides: The dirty rice and mac-n-cheese were delicious Overall, decently priced for the amount and quality of food that you get. Lots of tables to dine at. It was a bit concerning to see what appears to be bullet holes sprayed on the outside window, but otherwise, delicious place to eat lol. Not My Captain! TO-GO: 6pc fried oysters with two sides (green beans, rice) and separate 1pc stuffed shrimp. The majority of the food tasted highly processed and did not taste homemade at all. It lacked the fresh, authentic flavor you expect from a local seafood spot.The environment of the restaurant did not help the experience either. Upon walking in, the atmosphere felt chaotic because the walls were cluttered with far too many signs, and the menus were completely disorganized. It made ordering feel stressful. To make matters worse, the owner was openly vaping right behind the counter while customers were waiting, which felt completely unprofessional and unhygienic for a food establishment.The only saving grace of the entire visit was the cashier. They were incredibly nice, polite, and welcoming despite the chaotic surroundings. However, good customer service at the register cannot make up for sub-par food and an unprofessional environment. We discovered this place on Instagram, and with all the great reviews, we were excited to give it a try. Starting with a few things that didn't quite meet our expectations: I ordered the wings, which were a bit smaller than I expected. They were also fried a little harder than I prefer, and the seasoning was slightly overpowering. My husband ordered the fish, and while it looked huge on Instagram, the portions were noticeably smaller. Now for the positives: the strawberry cake was absolutely delicious. It tasted homemade. YUM. This place was delicious. Passed by and decided to stop in. Everything was HOT and FRESH. (Also very well seasoned and tasty!!) We dined in and it was VERY clean too. We are definitely adding this to our "go to" places for fried fish. 2 meals with drinks for $30...a STEAL. I got the 2 fish and 2 stuffed shrimp. I have never had stuffed shrimp and I am now a fan! It was really interesting and super flavorful, plus steaming hot. I would get it again for sure. The rice was also an honorable mention very well seasoned and not bland AT ALL. Probably one of the BEST rices I've had from a restaurant. I also think the Mac and cheese is worth mentioning, we were skeptical based on the color but the flavor was there. Wow!!! I stumbled upon this nondescript restaurant and boy was I was surprised! They featured an extensive menu, the staff is very welcoming, and the dining room was spotless!! I ordered the chicken liver lunch special with the baked beans and dirty rice. It was extremely tasty! The rice was perfectly seasoned and so were the beans. The livers were fried but not greasy. The food was so good, it had no chance of being photographed (who wants to see half eaten plates, LOL). The portions are tremendous, so come hungry!! The owner, Hashish, came out from behind the counter to ensure the food was good and his guests were happy. He knows the value of great customer service, always smiling also! Got the fried shrimp with cheese sticks and poppers. The breading was way too think on the shrimp and poppers to start off with but I didn't mind it so much on the cheese sticks. The poppers not only lacked good breading but the poppers tasted like they'd been fried with fried pickles because they had a strong pickle taste for some reason. OK, after visiting this place with my best friend, I was lured back by the tasty fish. I was grabbing dinner before a meeting, so I got the three fish three stuffed shrimp platter with their amazing coleslaw and hush puppies. While waiting for it, the Owner and I were chatting, and he graciously offered for me to taste the gizzards that he had just made, and they were super tasty as well. The batter and the spices on them were very tasty. Though I wish I had gotten more of that pink sauce that he serves with the fish cause that is just perfect with the fish and everything else. Probably could eat that off cardboard. Everybody there is so welcome, welcoming and so sweet I especially love the sweet lady in the pink hijab and the owner. Arlington finally gets a good Louisiana fish joint! I stopped in last night to try Captain La. I ordered the 4-pc catfish with two sides, which was basically two large whole fillets cut down the center. I chose fries and mac and cheese as sides. The catfish and fries were excellent. The mac and cheese was pretty average, but that's my fault for ordering mac and cheese at a fish place. Next time I'll try the Dirty Rice. The restaurant was immaculately clean. The service was prompt. Prices were reasonable. The owner was friendly and polite. The portions were large and you should have leftovers, so the dine-in takeout container comes in handy. The owner said that his restaurant journey began in Bossier City, so at Captain La Fish you are indeed getting that North Louisiana flavor (shoutout to my peeps in Shreveport, Natchitoches, Campti and Clarence). They also remain open until 1AM, so if you're looking for late nite options beyond pancakes and waffas' you now have one. read more

There was a steady flow of dine-in and take-out orders while we were there. We both had the catfish. Our sides were hush puppies, green beans, baked beans, potato salad, dirty rice. The fish is served with a homemade dipping sauce. The flavors and serving sizes were good. I'm gong to say I came to Captain La. With my wife because she was craving some fish. She saw the reviews and they pointed in the right direction. I had a burger and fries...and must say it was good. My wife had fried Buffalo and it was fried to hard. So we were in the area and we said- let's give it another try...my wife didn't like the attitude when asking for some fish and the price. Captain LA is an amazing addition to charming restaurants specific to Arlington. The food is consistently delicious and the service is always great. The owner is a kind man from Louisiana, hence the LA. The seasoning on the fries tastes amazing, but I'm not sure what it is. The Mac and cheese had a nice peppery flavor. I had the tenders with and without buffalo sauce, I'd recommend getting tenders without the sauce though I'm sure it's good with their wings. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people that dine in but their super busy with to-go orders. Also, I'd HIGHLY recommend trying one of the cakes. I returned today and theyve done a great job updating the place. This building was originally a Sambo's, a national pancake house chain that was a favorite when I was a kid. It's been a few different things since. It's very clean now. I ordered a lunch plate of fried shrimp with hush puppies and slaw. $10 bucks. Huge value. Spoke with the owner as it was being prepared. Everything made in house, catfish is genuine not swai, made to order, etc. The shrimp were huge. Perfectly cleaned and deveined, the batter is well seasoned and perfectly done. They are crunchy, the shrimp tender and flavorful. And there are ten of these huge shrimp on the lunch plate! The hush puppies are perfection, made the right way in little balls with corn and onion in the batter. Crunchy outside, tender and light inside. Very flavorsome even without the jalapeño I would like in the batter. These are more than a side; they should offer as an appetizer portion. Also in a 5 gallon bucket! The only miss is a personal one. The slaw was drowning in the mayo dressing. This is popular these days but. I prefer vinegar based slaws but that's just me. We'll be back. Check it out. read more

The chicken was good but a little too dark it wasn't burnt I'm not sure but I will try it again to see I only had two pieces and they were really small pieces but back to that catfish I two large pieces and they taste really good and they sauce was really good also.
