This is my first time in the keys, and my 4th day at key largo. The catch for the day was hog fish and the server said hog fish tacos was today's special. Being a huuuge taco lover I ordered that. I was not disappointed, lettuce, tomato, grilled hog fish, fresh avocado slices topped off with a creamy zesty sauce. What really won me over was the fact that I've been trying "the best homemade key lime pie around!" In 3 other restaurants. This time around, the server didn't "sell" the key lime pie, she kindly and sweetly asked if we wanted dessert. Let me tell you, it was the best one. Hands. Down. I later told her our funny key lime pie taste-a-thon. After some good laughs she explains that this restaurant is owned by a British woman and that she has a specific key lime recipe that MUST be followed by the cooks, and every now and then she comes in to taste-check. (What a dream job) She also told us about the rum cake and how that's homemade too, we couldn't help it--and of course it was heaven, just like the service, the atmosphere, the tacos all the way to dessert!! Ended up spending 2 of our 3 nights in Key Largo here. And... I had the exact same dish both nights simply because I enjoyed it that much. Lobster, crab, shrimp stuffed Mahi-mahi. Worst ever restaurant I ever been. Bad food ,bad service been there twice and the second time was worst than the first time . The food has no taste the server can't see the diference from stuff shrimp to fried shrimp. Worst place me and my wife ever ate . read more

We stayed across the street at the Hampton Inn so we didn't have far to go. This is a local spot with excellent food and service. We talked with a few of the locals as we sat at the bar. Would highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

Probably the best seafood I've ever had. Very friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. I believe they have trivia nights on Wednesdays. Very affordable and generous portions of food. They also have nightly specials and a good happy hour. I got the stuffed daily catch with bearnaise sauce, with sweet potato fries, and coleslaw. All excellent. read more

The Catch is one of those places that I love to stumble upon: great food, great service and priced right. The fish dip is among the best I've ever had. Our dinner party of three started with a seafood sampler, gator bites and some $5 glasses of their house Chardonnay -- their regular price...and generous pours, to boot (gotta love that!). In the end, we doubled down on the coconut shrimp and fish dip and just skipped main courses. It was unanimous that we'd be back to work through the rest of the menu. Mmmm. read more

If you're on the road to or from Key West, and want to have a quick bite, that might be an option. Typical small road diner, offering some local fish and seafood. Big Catch Fish sandwich with grilled Mahi Mahi was really good, the fish super tender, not dry, not overdone, just right as it's supposed to be. The combination of it with the cheese, tartar sauce and tomatoes was truly good. But the set of conch, shrimp and Mahi Mahi fritters I wouldn't recommend to try, too much breaded, not lightly at all and all dry, especially conch. Homemade cucumber salad and coleslaw were ok. They have specials, like Shrimp quesadilla, and I'm sure that one would have been much better and juicier than the fritters, I wish I'd tried it, but I discovered that they had it way too late. Small wine selection, but they pour very generous, a glass looked like half a bottle to me, better was beer selection. Attentive and kind server. read more

Wow yelpers can be so wrong! SO SLOW! I tried to like it - super busy, it's spring break, I get it. 45 mins no food - oh yes we can do med rare prime rib ( never would have ordered but for yelpers) um no, well well done! So super nice Mgr/owner ?? Comes, gets replacement broiled plate as soon as she can (15 mins later ) and it is great, fresh, perfectly cooked seafood - but blackened and so salty it's awful. Service was great and extremely friendly and the restaurant was very clean. Seafood is what they specialize in which is why they're called "The Catch" and that showed. I got their special which was bbq chicken and ribs and it wasn't very good. All the other seafood we got was excellent. read more

Came here after a day at John Pennekamp State Park. We were greeted and seated immediately. Good vibes while inside with friendly locals at the bar and rock and roll music playing in the background. An immediate feeling of relaxation with good ole Key West style. We were quickly served with our appetizers and drinks. Food soon followed. The Mahi Mahi catch of the day, oysters fried fish combo basket, and fish sandwiches were delicious and fresh. All very tasty and well-cooked. The desserts: rum cake and key lime were very good too. Five stars? Really? Place was crazy loud. We had to holler at each other to have a conversation. The waitress was a B. I would of had one of the specials but we didn't see them until after the fact. I guess your supposed to figure it out on your own. Apparently not the waitresses job. Wife ordered a sangria that was incredible bitter. The waitress said "didn't you read what was in it when you ordered it". GREAT SERVICE. The food isn't worth coming back for with this kind of service. First and last time coming here. They are nice, quick with service, and it's just great I recommend the ribs. And the shrimp. This restaurant has a lot of decent food well cooked and fresh especially the fish. If you're looking for a small quiet place to dine and socialize this restaurant would be your nook. read more

We stopped in to The Catch on our drive down to Key West because of the reviews from previous yelpers. We were absolutely not disappointed. They had a great selection of beers, and Holly greeted us warmly when we walked in. My girlfriend ordered the blackened mahi tacos and I had the big catch sandwich, both of which were absolutely amazing. Well seasoned, well cooked. We met some locals who were only too happy to give us some tips about places to stop on the rest of our drive. I'm only sad we didn't have time to stay longer. read more

Meh. We got a bunch of appetizers and a burger. The fried calamari no flavor and rubbery. Even the cheese sticks not too good. My seafood cakes just ok. So very disappointed. Saw the restaurant sign from the road; encountered two different groups who told us how wonderful the restaurant and everything on the menu wise. Ordered a blackened mahi-mahi sandwhich came slathered in cheese which was nowhere described on the menu board. Whoever thought to add cheese to a blackenef mahi-mahi sandwich needs to return to cooking school. The second item ordered was blackened mahi-mahi platter. I was up charged for the onion straws. The worst imitation of Onion straws I've ever seen. They were a mass of black and Charred to a crisp with taste of oil and char in the shape of a flattened rectangle. And not to be forgotten, the size of the fish portions was skimpy with her served on the bread on the platter. Could they spare it for the price. I wish I could say something good about this place. I really wanted to be impressed by a roadside call that served great food. Saw Keylime pie for dessert and after the mess of the food that was delivered, decided we find dessert elsewhere. Had the chicken Caesar fingers. Very good. We also had The Godfather and MAHI coconut. It was out of this world. Probably the best MAHI we have had. Staff was very friendly and quick. The only downside I would say was the room we were in was very small and was very noisy. We were not even where the band was. Other than that would definitely come back. read more
