Stopped in at lunch time to try this new place. Staff was great. Owner was on site, checking to make sure everyone was satisfied. Food was good and served promptly. I had the crawfish basket and clam chowder. It was very hot and fresh. Fries were on bottom and got a little soggy but overall a good experience. The fries are probably the unhealthiest fries to have ever existed but they're good cause they're salty and sweet. I wish they had sizes for the po boys because the sandwich on top of the fries and hush puppies is too much food for me. And I would have saved half for later but its messy food and would be unappetizing as left overs. The boiled crawfish is good. The corn was soggy and gross. Some of the fishes were soggy/overcooked too. The mild could be more mild but it wasn't overbearing. The potatoes are huge. The current price is $5/lb, which is good. My husband and I tried The Catch for the first time and before we ordered we kept wondering if it was going to be better Happy's fish house which is our favorite place to eat seafood/cajun. We took one bite and agreed that they are at equal level with Happy's. Happys is just more Cajun and has variety and The Catch does great for just seafood! We loved The Catch and tasted like home cooking; and we would return. I took away one star because it took forever for someone to come and clean even after they knew it was dirty. Came by here on the way to Beaumont, stopped because of good reviews on Yelp. Talked to the store manager and ordered jalapeño fried and two dozen raw oysters. The jalapeños were hot and cooked just right. They were cooked in clean oil so they tasted wonderful. The crowd here was very friendly. The beer and drinks are free buttes and soda are extra, go figure. We drank beer. We stayed and visited with locals here. Oysters were fresh. The sauce was good. This was our visit here tonight per a recommendation. Have to say after eating seafood/Cajun in New Orleans for years this place is pretty darn close to that food. You get plenty to eat and everything is fresh and tasty. We had fried catfish, fried shrimp, hush puppies with cole slaw and fries. The seafood is made to order not just sitting under heat lamps. The cole slaw is a must try. It has celery seeds which I love in slaw and is usually missing at most places that serve slaw. They also add a little creole seasoning in it which makes it so good and flavorful. Love the fact the keep Slap Yo Mama seasoning right on the table. We also had a to go order for daughter. She had the fried oyster po boy and a cup of the shrimp, crawfish and sausage gumbo with rice. Both were on point. So glad to find a place in Tyler that serves traditional Cajun food. We will definitely be back and can't wait to go back to try other menu items. The staff has great service. It is a walk up to the counter to order place but it will surprise you. Impressive flavors from this place. Was here visiting my father in the hospital and tbh I do my best to stay away from Tyler and regretfully this place is worth drawing me back to the area more often. I started with the spicy seafood gumbo and the catfish and shrimp basket and instead of fries I opted for the red beans and rice. Everything has very nice flavors and was seasoned perfectly. The fried fish was perfect and very flaky. Whoever prepares it sure knows what they are doing. Will definitely return to this location. My family and I were impressed with our recent visit to The Catch. One at our table had the Admiral's Platter which consists of a good sampling of catfish, oysters, shrimp, chicken, crawdads, and whitefish. I thought everything was very well cooked and very tasty. Not all has to be fried as he was able to have his shrimp grilled. If there had been malt vinegar on the table this place would have received 5 stars. :) However, the owner did say he had it available and mentioned that they would soon have classic fish and chips on Fridays. Bottom line, good place, good atmosphere. We will be back. Update: Went back and the malt vinegar is now on the table...now 5 stars! read more

Wow! My Mom and I decided to venture out for some greatly missed seafood with a cajun feel. We had tried another restaurant in the area, but weren't "Happy" with the food or prices there. ;) We happened upon the catch and we were thrilled! The food was absolutely fantastic! I ordered the chicken, crawfish and sausage gumbo as a starter and the boiled crab with potato and corn on the cob and my Mom had their fried oyster basket that came with really good fries. The portions were of good size and the prices weren't bad at all! I went with the extra spicy on my crab boil, and I must warn you, they aren't kidding about the extra part. You'll want to make sure you have plenty to drink before you indulge in the spice. I was shocked to find that they have free margaritas and beer (2 per customer) to wash all that goodness down. The margaritas were excellent! They weren't wine based, are made in house, and are the best margaritas I have had out in a while. We decided to try their house-made Key-Lime pie and were shocked at how good it was. It also was the best I have had since I last visited Florida! The staff was great, very friendly and attentive. The open kitchen allows you to watch the magic happen, which for me is always fun. The crab was perfectly cooked and came out in large, whole pieces. Best seafood I've had in a long while. Everything was extremely fresh and perfectly cooked. You can tell the fish, shrimp, and crawfish were all fresh and sourced very recently. The fried shrimp are the best I've had from any Restaurant. Crawfish are solid, would recommend you order spicy over medium as the medium doesn't pack much heat at all. The spicy are perfect. Free margs were delicious. Blue one is better than the red. The staff was also really friendly and attentive, even when we were sitting outside. Unlike the unfathomably Shitty Oak Hurst golf club 15 minutes down the road, the staff respects the patrons and the $22 experience of eating fresh seafood was far superior to the $38 twilight green fees encountered at Oak Hurst to play their run down and terribly designed course. I would not order the boiled crawfish from here! On two separate occasions we have ordered the boiled crawfish, both times they have been undercooked. You can tell because the tail meat should be a solid white however, it's a more clear color and very chewy texture. I feel like the cooks need to be taught how to really boil crawfish. They're trying too hard to get them out fast therefore they are lacking in flavor and they're undercooked. People who order crawfish know it's not a quick process and are prepared to wait for them. They should figure out their busiest times for crawfish and boil a big batch and let them steep in a cooler until people order them like real cajuns do it. If they're not willing to do that then they need to increase their cooking times. read more

They have the best crawfish I have had in a very long time. Most places over cook or do not cook the right way. Me and the wife stoped by to try them out. We have tried a lot of different places. By far the catch has the best. I don't care for the way they are set up where you order your food at the counter or there way of you want corn and potatoes it's an add charge. But I am being told by the wife that I have to get use to the NEW AGE WAY. RIGHT !! any ways all that to say that so far this is the best crawfish out there in and around Tyler. This is the best seafood place in town. $8 for a shrimp basket. The "regular" size basket is plenty big enough for one person. The admirals platter is huge - enough for 2, includes lots of fried seafood. Everything is good - the shrimp are huge and taste fresh. Everything fresh and cooked to order. We had the fish, shrimp and cajun tenders with seasoned fries. Also tried the clam chowder, gumbo and hush puppies. All was very good and cooked just right. Loved the battering on the fish, shrimp and chicken. You pick up a menu at the door and order the meal at the register. The order is brought to your table. We were greeted by the co-owner and was checked on several times by him and the rest of the staff to see if there was anything we need. The other owner is a culinary chef and it showed in the food. It is a great place to enjoy a quick lunch or to meet friends for an evening meal. At lunch time the place filled up and started to overflow into the outside patio. I sat in front of the register waiting to order while employees talked, and they weren't very friendly. They had an awesome happy hour so I ordered a margarita, I'm pretty sure it didn't have any tequila in it.. and if it did I couldn't taste it all all, and it was so sweet I couldn't drink it... so I took it back up front (had to wait 15 mins in a line) still had a full cup explaining my problem. Basically told me tough luck, and charged me for my next drink, which is fine I just wouldn't call that good customer service. read more
