We finally made time to stop at Cellar Wine Bistro for Wine Wednesday. It was WONDERFUL. Highly recommend calling ahead to reserve a table on the patio. We had the bread and butter--epic. The butter was whipped honey butter. It was good that we decided to stay and eat dinner. We order the pizza with roasted onion, garlic sauces and bacon with arugula. It was awesome. The wine was great too. The service was on pointe, and we enjoyed our date night looking out the front window and people watching. read more

Came in on a Saturday night with a dead (2 others inside at 7:30p) friend and it was an "eh" experience. We each had 3 glasses of wine, over a 2.5 hours time span and it was $95 (a bit steep for the wines ordered, but not terrible). Pros Selection- The place has a great selection of bottles of wine, pour (single glass options), and Teay's Brewing beers to choose from. Clean- The place was spotless and had a great interior Music- The playlist was great! Everything from Hozier to Taylor Swift to Ben Folds... Cons Service- As noted by others, the service was not the best. Could have been worse, but could have been a lot better. What a glorious Sunday morning I spent at The Cellar Wine Bistro! I was riding solo so I sat at the bar...no reservation and hoping for the best...and was able to sit immediately. Everything beginning to end was absolutely wonderful and relaxing and delicious! Watching the room of guest being served I can tell you with certainty the portions are generous. I went with the Chorizo Tortillas, as I was told by my fantastic bartender/waitress it's an item that rotates on and off the menu. The Poached eggs were not a disappointment. Sometimes when I cut into a "poached" egg it's actually a hard egg. The fresh, delicious warm yolk flow was so satisfying lol. The music...perfect. The volume...perfect. The atmosphere...just what I needed. 100% will be back in two weeks for the next brunch. read more

Finally got to try out their Brunch menu. I got their eggs benedict which was really delicious (and came with three eggs!). The only thing I felt was a bit off was the raw tomato in there... I think it would have enhanced the flavours if they had roasted it. Salmon was on point. Their croque madame was fantastic. Definitely recommend this. My friend got their nutella crepe which was a little too sweet. Probably best sharing this with someone. Mimosa's were yummy and overall, a great experience. I'd definitely go back. I really enjoyed my visit to the cellar. The service was fantastic and the wine selection was varied and good IMO. I had the pan seared salmon, which I definitely recommend, and that's from someone that doesn't normally like salmon. I had fun with the wine flight and then settled in with a warm and comforting red wine from Kiona Estates. If you are like me and visiting your BoilerMaker, eventually you may grow tired of tailgate Boiler Gold... don't get me wrong, I love People's Brewing... but sometimes I just want a nice glass of wine.... I highly recommend coming to the cellar for great ambiance, great food, great wine and an all around nice experience. read more

I have been Here several times this year and last week was my last time. Every. Single. Time. Some of the staff is super rude. The woman with shoulder length blonde hair is the worst. I think the only person who has been nice to me and or my friends is a server named Brooke (I think that's her name. Not sure if she still works there? Just so rude! I will not be back. My money will be spent at local places that are kind and at least decent to their customers. read more

What a great spot! We stopped by for happy hour, so can't speak to their food, but it was exactly what we were looking for. We didn't have a reservation, but were able to grab a table on a Wednesday evening with only a ~5 minute wait. Since we happily timed our visit on a Wednesday, we were able to take advantage of wine Wednesday deals -- $5 for a seriously generous pour. There were ~5 different options for the special. I opted for a Syrah that I thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely love to come back in the future (and try some food next time!). read more

I headed to The Cellar after a day of hiking and stopping at breweries with my beer loving husband. The space is elegant and intimate. It was early enough that Michelle, one of the owners, had time to chat. The wines by the glass menu is is small but nicely balanced. I didn't check out the full wine list as I knew a bottle was out of the question but two glasses of barbera was a good choice. The $15 cheese tray came with decisions (French, Italian, sweet or savory sides) so I asked Michelle's opinion. We settled on olive tapenade and onion chutney. It came with three cheeses, melba toast, apples, raw almonds and grapes. It was a very generous portion and beautifully presented. The melba was perfect and I would LOVE the chef's recipe. If only the Cellar Wine Bistro wasn't 90 miles from home, I would be a loyal and frequent guest. read more

We were lucky to visit Lafayette on a weekend when Ethan was serving brunch. What a treat! Our group of six enjoyed the atmosphere, our not too sweet mimosas, and every menu option that we sampled. Highlights were the shakshuka, smoked salmon benedict and crispy fingerling potatoes, and cornmeal lemon hoecakes with chopped pistachios (oh my). I'm writing this review in the spirit of trying to help. The Cellar is a nice place with excellent staff and a good selection of wines. Their imaginative food offerings were hampered by a few missteps this evening. The Fried Green Tomatoes were crispy, but missing seasoning. The crab cakes were tasty, but overcooked. The Tonkatsu Lettuce Wraps also contained overcooked pork cutlet. I'm sure these can be adjusted for a better next visit. read more

Hands down one of the best meals and experience in downtown Lafayette. My husband and I ordered a bottle of wine and three shared plates. The baked brie is SO delicious! We also got the red wine poached sausage and polenta and the lamb kebabs, both amazing as well! Maren was our server and she was so sweet! We will definitely be back. read more

I really liked the semi-dry wines, which I never go for in real life, but I'm glad I tried. The dry wines (there were only two options) were still a little too sweet for me, but that's Indiana wine for you. If you lean toward sweet wines, you will like the majority of the wines at Wildcat Creek Winery. This is not really a place to eat and enjoy wine, although you can find some packaged hunks of cheese and whole summer sausages in the fridge. It's more like a place to enjoy a nice glass or bottle of wine, and then grab some charcuterie fixin's on the way out, if you want to.

The wine list ranges from dry to sweet, with the sweet wines being mostly fruit wines. We ended up with a couple of bottles of the sweet summer Riesling that we really liked. We also enjoyed Hawaiian Mist which was a pineapple flavor in the fruit wine list. They've done a nice job with the atmosphere in that it makes you want to sit down and stay awhile drinking wine with some friends.

$2 tastings and $5 glasses. All of the whites are delicious!

Upon entering the hostess asked if we had a reservation, we did not as this was last minute find. The hostess advised there was a table available in the bar area or a large 6 top table behind the hostess stand. We selected the 6 top, while not in the main dining area it was still a good table and our server Karis was great. Complimentary Bread is served. The bread was served warm and soft. Ordered the Scallops and asked for them to be prepared in a lemon butter sauce which the kitchen was able to do a lemon beurre blanc sauce. Served with a side and soup or salad or a 2nd side if no soup or salad is selected. Requested some tartar sauce however it had a very overpowering Dill flavor. French Onion soup had the right amount of bread and more broth than cheese and onion. Had the Ribeye Cap special which needed a touch of salt and it was cooked a little more than the medium rare plus ordered. Served with a side of Burgundy Mushrooms heavy on the Burgundy flavor and Shoestring Onion Rings however not really on the true sense of Shoestring Onion ring size of things unless your into fat shoelaces but they did taste good. Overall great service and good food

We ordered four appetizers to share as our meal, the chevre frita (goat cheese balls), truffle parm fries, garlic filet tips, and the ahi tuna. The fries and the goat cheese balls were just bad. The fries were either overcooked or cooked in old grease or both. You can see in the photo I took of them that they're brown. They're not nice and golden. The goat cheese balls were nearly the size of a pool table ball. Goat cheese is a very strong cheese that is meant to be enjoyed in small portions. Typically goat cheese balls are around an inch big not three inches. It was just too much. And the cheese was liquid. That shouldn't be the consistency. I couldn't eat either of these appetizers. The couple of bites I did take stuck with me for hours as I felt sick to my stomach. The ahi was meh. It was cold and there was very little seasoning. Nothing special. The garlic filet tips were good. The rice they sat on was not. It had a very strong garlic taste. I LOVE garlic, but this was almost like it was a fake garlic flavor and not fresh. Not sure what the deal was, but it wasn't good either. For the price point on the menu, this food just ain't it. Service was also poor. We were literally the only table in there at the time that we ate so it's not like our waiter was busy. The waiter took our drink order and brought that, but then never came back to take our food order. He was behind the bar literally facing us as we were the table directly in front of him, but he was too busy talking to the bartender. I honestly think he forgot that he had not taken our food order. I had to wave him over to get him to take our order. My husband did order an old-fashioned and he said that it was excellent. Overall, a complete waste of money and left my husband and I sick to our stomachs for a few hours after and with a bad aftertaste in my mouth that wouldn't go away until after several brushings of my teeth (that fake garlic?). It would take a lot to get me to come back and give this place another chance.

Let me nail down each dish we had this past Wednesday, the grilled bacon was entirely fine, quite tough but nice fatty flavors, I like Teay's River candied bacon app better. Oyster was good, east coast briny does me right. Our Old Fashioneds were insanely expensive without offering any memorable flavors, balance seemed restrained neither giving a forward bite or a smooth sweetness. Strawberry Lemon sprits was similar, an overpriced kid's slushy. Asparagus was fine. Potato sides surprisingly flavorless, we all couldn't believe how dull the potatoes were. My sister's salmon looked half the size of Town and Gown's while costing fifty percent more and offering half the food. She did finish the ocean protein but left most of the rice. Thankfully the desserts were better, bread pudding somewhat dry and needing a sparkle of that smooth actual pudding but the winner was definitely the key lime. Rich and dense, dreamy and tangy, I got happy! Sure the atmosphere and staff is enjoyable, providing some fresh city vibes compared to the homely and old school Mountain Jacks. However Jacks and Mcgraws Steakhouse both do far better as culinary is concerned. Would be exciting to see this place fix up their inconsistency, out of touch pricing, or they'll be the next to go the way of Bowen Bistro during the next economic crash.
