We had so much fun trying this place out for our last night in Whistler! It's a great spot for a romantic dinner. Our waitress was wonderful and took great care of us. The French onion soup is a must and the cheese/chocolate fondue was delish! In my opinion the steak was a bit bland but I still throughly enjoyed it. read more

I wanted so bad to love this place. The service was not great, the food was not great either. I wouldn't go back. The dessert was nice. Probably the only reason I'd go. The flavors are just not it. My wife and I ended up laughing our way through this experience because of how ridiculous it was. This restaurant had come recommended by and is linked to the Fairmont. Our experience of it was that the facilities, ambiance, service and menu are not great at all. For example, the building seems like an old golf club, the restrooms are dated, guests enter where the food comes out of the kitchen (so we overheard an argument between the chef and the waiters as we arrived) and the candles are cheap electric Dollar Store-type things. They didn't even have real candles! When we compared the above experience with the fact we were charged around USD65 for 4 tiny lines of meat in the Surf & Turf fondue, we could only laugh. Not to mention, the waitress spent the entire time trying to upsell us. read more

Swiss fondue at its finest. It's located in a local country club- parking can be at a premium in front of the restaurant and the entrance is around the back. Service was excellent. We went with an order of mushrooms on toast as well as a rosti, both of which were excellent. The schnitzel took me back to my days living in Germany- a huge portion perfectly seasoned. The cheese fondue was excellent with a nice selection of bread, and the dessert fondue was equally as good, if you still have room left. A fantastic meal in a great setting. read more

Fondue itself was OK. Nothing extraordinary; all pretty ordinary. Wait staff is nice but service overall is painfully slow. We have a small child so we don't want to stick around very long. It took 30 minutes for dessert to come after dinner - basically just melted chocolate with fresh fruit. Will definitely not come back. read more

We definitely had a great time here! The service was impeccable and the food was fantastic. The cheese fondue was amazing and so was the chocolate! Tip: after the cheese has been sitting for a few minutes the bottom starts to get hard... scrape it off and eat it before it burns.... it's delicious! By far the star of the show was the chocolate fondue! It was some of the best chocolate I've had to date! If we come back, it will probably be for the dessert! We learned this later when we were hanging out in the lobby of the Fairmont, but you can just get the chocolate fondue without leaving the hotel too! read more

We had a group of five and arrived on time. We checked our coats and then were seated Immediately. We ordered some drinks Including wine, strawberry lemonade, Egyptian lemonade and a Shirley temple. The drinks were ok, wine tasted good and when we asked for no fizz in the lemonades, our server Aimee was more than happy to oblige. We had some delicious French onion soup, and then we had some Veal Schnitzel which came with an assortment of vegetables. We also had some cheese fondue which was absolutely amazing! The chocolate fondue was warm and delicious and came with fruit, meringue, marshmallows, and biscuits. The staff was amazing everyone was very friendly and our waitress Aimee was so sweet she never stopped smiling. I would definitely recommend the Chalet. The only hard part was parking, the Fairmont hotel offered to valet our car and then drive us up the hill to the restaurant but instead we parked at the chalet. Overall, The Chalet is a great place to eat with amazing food, and service. read more

OMG! I am a fondue snob, simply put. The cheese fondue here (we had the truffle addition) is insanely good. In fact, I'd say the best I've ever had, and I have eaten fondue in many places. Wow. The chalet has been an annual tradition in my family for years, and one we all love. We get the traditional cheese fondue and the truffle cheese--absolutely tremendous. Delicious. With a nice bottle of grüner veltliner, the fire burning in the fireplace, and snow falling, you cannot get a better alpine experience. It's first class, and it's also quite expensive, but truly, it's worth it. read more

Okay first off this isn't a review to diss the restaurant in any sort of way at all. I just wanted to say that if you're going to this restaurant with high expectations and want a decent amount of food you will be extremely disappointed. If you want the fondue experience the desert was pretty good but the anything else fondue is an absolute joke. Our driver who picked us up from the hotel; we asked him about the place and his reply was "I have heard it is filling". We replied with "to say we're disappointed is an understatement" this is because this restaurant has the smallest serving size of any restaurant that I've been! can't believe he actually said that we actually thought he was trolling!! Anyway the place is pretty bad and very expensive wouldn't recommend. read more

We're long time Whistler locals and have eaten at many of top restaurants here. This one kinda slipped under the radar for many years. Too bad cause the food was incredible. The onion soup is a must. Ended up ordering an extra one cause it was that good. Sure, the food is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The portion sizes are large and the quality is top notch. The only thing that might have been better than the food was the service. The hosts were very welcoming and our server might be one of the best servers I've ever had. Beau really made our experience very memorable. He was beyond accommodating and hospitable, he was also funny and entertaining, and not afraid to banter which I really enjoy. He had all the right suggestions and made sure we had more than everything we needed. Thank you so much Beau. We will be returning. Side note, this restaurant is not actually in the Fairmont, it's up the road at the Fairmont golf course. And the entrance is around back, so don't knock on the front windows trying to get in. read more

My family always has dinner here on NYE and we usually go for the fondue experience: a starter salad, cheese, meat, and chocolate fondu. The food is incredible and all dippers can be refilled when asked! The ambience is quaint as there are few tables in a large room. You should request to have the fondues in sequential order, as they sometimes serve meat and cheese at the same time which is too much! Service is very friendly and attentive! read more

It's a cute restaurant, however for the price the food was not worth the bill. I had the French onion soup. It was very bad. It had two pieces of thin bread inside a small bowl, artery clogging stringy cheese inside, a few onions, and no traditional cheese on the outside...it looked unfinished...very disappointing. A total waste of $12. We also ordered fondue and instead of the requested version, we received the classic. The fondue was good, the bread was not. And the bread was burnt to the point that I thought it had herbs inside. read more

Excellent food and table service. We enjoyed our fondue experience very much! A little disorganized when we arrived. Very small bar area (a bench across from a small, stand-up bar) which is where they have you wait if your table isn't ready, was not staffed (so we couldn't order a drink while we waited) and the entire bar top was piled high with dirty dishes. A little gross considering the bench we were sitting at was maybe 1 1/2 to 2 feet away. Management needs to revisit this arrangement. Not typical of a high-end restaurant. read more

Close to perfect restaurant! Food was great and "the fondue experience" was one of the best fondue dinners I've ever had. It's not stated on the menu but endless dippers and you can have veggies, fruit, and potatoes to the fondue (no charge). Service was really good, and they did a great job at spacing out the timing of food. The atmosphere was so romantic and warm. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star review is the price. The price is a bit steep for what the quality is. But I would highly recommend this gorgeous restaurant! read more

I've never had Swiss fare before, but our group included friends who lived and worked in Austria and they liked our dinner here so that was a good enough gauge for me. Now, we did NOT opt for any fondue, (which is what they're known for and is 80% of their menu), however, their entrees were pretty good. The Weiner Schnitzel was made of pork, not veal, and it was pretty good. My better half had the Roasted Pork Knuckle and it fell off the bone and was quite juicy. The highlight of the night was the Schnapps cart. The selections were very tasty, and when paired with the Sacher-torte, it made for a scrumptious dessert. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive, and the grounds were gorgeous (even buried under snow). If I have one complaint, it was the music that played in the restaurant - just a little too much accordion and trombones for an evening out. I get that it's Austrian music, but Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven came out of Vienna, too. We're not climbing the Matterhorn, it's just dinner. read more

Well the service was attentive last night, but the kitchen staff should be fired. We had a reservation for our family of 7 for 6 pm. We ordered the fondue experience for everyone at our table, and since this is their specialty... we thought this made things easier. We waited over an hour after ordering, for the first course to arrive, our salads. Then we waited over 30 minutes for the fondue pots to arrive after finishing our salads. Even after our main course was cleared we waited 20 minutes for chocolate fondue to arrive, even though half of the restaurant was empty at this point. Our experience of three courses, salad, cheese and meat fondue, and chocolate fondue took 2 hours and 45 minutes. Totally miserable experience. Thank goodness our children are all teenagers and could suffer the wait times, but I felt for all the families around us with small children that were stuck waiting so long for food as well. Gave one star because I feel sorry for the wait staff who were stuck making excuses for the kitchen all night. read more
