Wildflower is a strong rebrand and a great steakhouse option inside the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. We came here for our final night, and it was the perfect way to close out the trip. The Hokkaido scallops were tender and lightly sweet, while the steak tartare was fresh, well-seasoned, and cleanly executed. The ribeye steaks were the highlight--perfectly cooked with a great crust and rich flavor. Sides of carrots, kale, and broccoli were simple, fresh, and balanced the meal well. Brunch at the Chateau Whistler at The Wildflower turned out to be a very good experience. The buffet offered a wide range of pastries, breads, and cakes to go with that fresh coffee. The hot section offered eggs Benedict, vegetarian Benedict, mushrooms back tomatoes, sausages, bacon, perfect scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, waffles and pancakes, while the carving section offered a very well cooked pork belly, ham, and an excellent omelette station that didn't over cook the eggs. Also the salad section offered select cheeses, meats, smoked lox, chopped salads, cold over night oatmeals, fresh fruits, lacking the blueberries and blackberries found at most Fairmont buffets. Overall they present a very good buffet in a very lovely location with excellent service and attention. We went for my birthday and noted it in the reservation. For a restaurant at this price point, I was surprised there wasn't even a small birthday dessert or any acknowledgment. Not a huge deal, but it felt like a missed opportunity for hospitality. The appetizers were the highlight of the night. The steak tartare was excellent, the foie gras was rich and buttery, and the oysters were fresh and well-prepared. Honestly, the apps carried the meal. Mains were more mixed. My friend wasn't a fan of the short rib, the steak was just okay, but the clam chowder was a hit. Not pictured, but the date cake was the best dessert -- we ended up ordering the full dessert assortment and that one stood out. Breakfast OMG the queue in the morning is huge! We had a breakfast everyday at Wildflower and if you don't take buffet then it will take forever to get your food. We selected a la carte egg Benedicts and we waited 40 minutes for the food and our food came before coffee. Food is delicious by the way, but service was way off. Also waitress try to charge us for buffet even we took a la carte and our dishes was cheaper than flat buffet price. Dinner Maybe because this was our breakfast place we didn't felt any ambience for our 6th wedding anniversary. Also we noticed that we were way overdressed and people came very casually dressed. They didn't care for our wedding anniversary even we told hostess and waiter... I wish we chose other restaurant for our big dinner. My husband took lamb loin and it was pretty good. I chose seafood chowder was good, but lack of presentation( whatever green oil was on top looked messy). My elk tar tar was excellent and I think it was best dish lol. The Wildflower was having a 3 course spring dining experience and we took advantage! Recommended to make reservations but we could have walked in right when they opened at 6 pm on Sunday. Wildflower is located within 10-15 min walk from the Whistler base as it is located in the Fairmont hotel at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. My appetizer was the crispy fried potato galette, entree was slow braised beef short rib, and dessert the chocolate sundae. The potato galette seemed similar to very thin potato slices like hash browns but was definitely more flavorful and upscale than what I described. The asparagus/vegetables made it refreshing and balanced well with the potatoes. The braised beef short rib was very tender and moist! I savored every bite and would recommend that as your entree choice! The dessert was massive! This huge cup contained a couple scoops of ice cream, some popcorn, brownie pieces, and caramel pearls. Pretty much the only restaurant at Whistler that would take a very late (8:45) reservation on a Friday. Ended up being an opulent setting with high ceilings and artistic plating of dishes. Elk and lobster rav for $75 contained two tiny pieces of elk and one single ravioli which was a ludicrously skimpy portion. My friends failed to finish their dishes, so I was satiated anyway, and everything was delicious. We did end up closing down the restaurant for the night, and wait staff was friendly throughout our visit, but seemed new to the job. read more

We went to Wildflower and ordered off their special summer menu. It came with an appetizer, main dish which you can choose from, and a dessert. Really good value for price point. It is welcoming and warm inside, however it felt a little commercial in nature. Our server was really prompt and friendly and was quick to refill our glasses. We tried both the scallop and the beef tartar appitizer. Both came presented beautifully. The scallops were fresh and fragrent. Probably my favourite dish of the evening. Beef tartar was plentiful but rather bland in flavour. The only thing that would not order again. For mains, the salmon was perfectly cooked and the presentation was fantastic. The beef shortribs were tender and delicious. The meat fell away from the bone. Dessert was good. I chose the panna cotta was was rich and refreshing at the same time. Dined at Wildflower on a Thursday evening and it was outstanding. The service was particularly exceptional. Our server, David, was attentive, knowledgable, and friendly, and was happy to make (excellent) food and drink suggestions for us throughout the evening. One of the best servers I've ever had, honestly. Furthermore, the restaurant was able to (on fairly short notice) arrange a great table and a lovely dessert to help celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was a home run for us both. Both the Lamb and the Duck Breast were cooked to perfection, well-seasoned, and presented beautifully. Came here for thanksgiving dinner. The drinks arrived to the table after the appetizers. The short rib was chewy and over cooked I had to spit it out otherwise I could have thrown up. This was a hard one to write because the service and drinks were amazing, but the entrees were not good, derailing the experience. A cautionary tale of a Sous vide. Ambiance: lovely! Waiter was attentive, personal and funny. Nice high ceilings and a mix of bright lighting and window, and darker lounge vibes. Comfy seats. Mixed atmosphere of a nice restaurant with a semi-casual hotel restaurant. Drinks: cocktail menu extensive and drinks 10/10. Wine list had some solid options. Entrees: Short rib: Tasted like rubber, almost no texture beyond a blob. I think it was in the Sous vide too long and became hard in the center. Outside was unappetizingly soft, no searing etc. Paired with some questionable gnocchi and sauce that was a small step above the short rib, but not good. Reminiscent of airplane food. Chicken: Carrots and potatoes solid. I loved the brussel sprouts. But wow the chicken was a disaster. Looked like the plastic chicken that comes with kid's kitchen playsets. Fully cooked thru, but outside pale and grey with no texture and like a square inch of searing. No flavor. Unappetizing, and again, a Sous vide nightmare. After the entrees, I didn't want to get dessert. I was sad because the breakfast buffet here is legendary, but I will stay far away for dinner. For breakfast, the donuts were an unexpected delight, as were the cinnamon rolls. I enjoyed the make your own omelet station. The breakfast wait staff is absolutely incredible. Bolognese - pasta was overcooked and ragù was dry... yes dry. Which is weird for a sauce I know. Kids were starving so they ate it but I took one bite and wanted to return it. Spring salad with pickled cranberries and feta - just an odd combo of ingredients that didn't go well with the citrus dressing. Bland and odd. Scallops and pork belly blah. Salmon was cooked well prob sous vide and then charred but all the mess under it was just confusing and overwhelming. It's like they add a bunch of ingredients with the goal of making it fancy. It was Canada Day long weekend and I did not book any dining reservations in advance. I was looking for a fine dining experience and this restaurant happened to have reservation spots available. I ended up booking this restaurant for dinner last minute. We were seated right away. Menus were dropped off. It happened that Sunday to Thursday offered a three course pricing menu. That was a pleasant surprise to eat at a discount. We ordered some drinks and a three course meal. Overall, food was beautifully presented and flavours were fantastic. Complimentary bread was provided. My meal started with a mocktail with their seedlip gimlet (seedlip, lime and lime cordial). It was sweet and refreshing. I chose oysters as my appetizer. It was fresh. Next was the lamb. I found the portion size large. Lamb was tender. The green beans were cooked to the perfect crispness. Lastly, we shared dessert. The bergamot posset tasted like a custard with apricot jelly and kumquats. It was a sweet dessert that was nicely presented. I also tried the dark chocolate mousse and I preferred that one more because I like the chocolate and cherry combination. Service was what I expected for typical fine dining. There were four people working on the floor. At times, the service pace felt a bit slow although our server did check on us during each course. Came here for a friend's birthday dinner in August. The restaurant was beautiful with high ceilings and walls filled with wine. It was during covid so we had to get our temperatures checked at the front of the hotel. All the staff were wearing masks. We ordered appetizers and mains but honestly everything was big in portion size. The seafood chowder was heavenly but very creamy and rich. If you decide to split it, they charge you a $5 fee but you get more chowder. I had the special of the day (vegetarian risotto) but even the appetizer portion looked like a main portion (so much food!). For mains, we ordered the surf & turf (special of the day), the duck and a vegetarian gnocchi. My favourite was the duck - the breast was cooked perfectly and I liked how they stuffed all the confit leg into a croquette ball. The surf & turf was below expectations as the steak was just average (not a very good cut of meat). The gnocchi was really yummy as well but we were too full to finish it. For the birthday girl, the server helped us surprise her with a dessert sundae with a candle and "happy birthday" written in chocolate. Food and service staff on point. The gardens are lovely. The interior environment tho, leaves a lot to be desired. Decor and music from the 1990s left us feeling like we were dining in a retirement facility. Take every major soft rock hit for the last 40 years and have the same two vocalists cover those in the style of sad piano jazz, on repeat. Decor is catering to the 70+ crowd. We arrived shortly before 6pm on a Thursday evening and were able to be seated quickly in the Attic. Our servers name was Andrew and he was so helpful and knowledgeable. We decided to share 3 of the small plates, a couple with Andrew's recommendation. First the bacon wrapped steak bites and the goat cheese arrived. The steak bites were incredible. Tender and flavorful and the horseradish sauce was incredible! The goat cheese was so incredible- we could not get over it. We were so tempted to order a second one it was that good! The mussels in the Thai curry sauce came next and the broth was out of this world! We enjoyed it all so much that we made reservations for another night while we are here. Good afternoon, I wanted to take a moment and express how bad of an experience we had last night. We've stayed in the hotels several times and I've never encountered or had such a bad experience ,ever. This was our anniversary weekend. Then I had planned for or a beautiful dinner at the wildflower. I should have known it was going to less than pleasant right from the start. The lady working the hostess table (a manager I believe, tall brunette) was very unpleasant and frankly looked like she didn't want to be there. We then got seated at a nice 4 person table as we had friends surprise us. The waiter started off fairly decent (might want learn the feature menu a bit better). We ordered 3 margaritas and 1 mule. This seemed to be a tough task . I might add there was probably 30 patrons in the entire restaurant. It took 13 minutes to get drinks. To be honest they were not good. Bartender could probably use some assistance. We then ordered some appies and mains . My wife ordered a steak (well done) her preference, and I had scallops and short ribs. My scallops came out and they were really good. Then the mains (our friends ordered another steak (medium ) and short ribs as well. The meals came out and we started eating and the minute we cut into my wife's steak it was cooked medium/rare. We called the waiter over who was shocked and said hold on he will fix it. Unfortunately after 7 minutes the rest of us started to eat . The steak came back out 12 minutes later. We fully ate and my wife ate pretty much by herself. Not even an apology from anyone (the female tall brunette) brought it back out. Our minds were blown. But wait , it gets worse. We sat for quite some time without drinks as the waiter felt better talking to his colleagues rather than servicing customers. We quickly decided to try and get out asap fast as possible. We asked for the bills , we split amongst the two couples. My mind was completely blown away when I saw the full amount of my wife's steak still on the bill. Any other restaurant would have fully removed this entirely from the bill or at minimum discounted the issue. This is supposed to be a high end restaurant. The chef can't even cook a steak? I won't even get started on the service at the mallard. The waiter was brutal. Please feel free to ask the bartender how many people complained. I'm a frequent customer at other fairmonts but I've never had such poor service , ever! Please speak to all parties and educate them on customer service. Crazy. I expect way better service especially after spending $1000 at the same building throughout the day. read more

I was in between three stars and four, but ultimately the customer service brought me to a four star review. I've eaten here three times now. The first time wasn't good. This is a buffet for breakfast and everything felt like it had been sitting around for a while. We told the manager when she asked how everything was and she told us to come back the next day for a free do over. It was WAY better. Everything tasted much fresher. I think if I could offer any advise I would say just don't come right before closing time. Make sure you come when it's busy so the food is being turned quickly. SOLID 4 STARS for a beautifully appointed, decorated and upscale restaurant located inside the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler. We were a large party of 9 in town to ring in and celebrate the new year holiday. The restaurant interior and ambience is beautiful. Dimly lit with warm lighting. If you're looking for a fancy place to relax and savor a meal and enjoy good company (which we were) or a place to impress, look no further. The menu is eclectic and upscale. Something for everyone - fish (but of course!), beef, chicken, pasta / rice dishes. A basket brimming with assorted breads and flatbread with a plate of salted butter starts you off. Each dish was beautifully and colorfully plated with super fresh ingredients, and tasted amazing. Every one. And definitely recommend you SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! How can you not when you have the decadently laid out dessert table staring you in the face the whole time?! :) I'll just add: dessert items are EVEN TASTIER THAN THEY LOOK. ;) Service was impeccable and world class as one would only expect from a Fairmont establishment. Our server was cheery, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. The different courses including drinks were spaced out just right and food came out piping hot. Our server made it totally feel like a 'dining experience' not just a meal - never rushed, we were all pampered just so. I honestly have to say that I can only give Wildflower a 3.5 star rating but I rounded it up for their superb service. I came here for their breakfast buffet ($32!) and it wasn't too much larger than the Fairmont Gold Lounge buffet upstairs. Many of the items such as the fruit, yoghurt and pastries were extremely similar (if not exactly the same) and we honestly didn't find much value in the Wildflower buffet since there was no way we could eat that much anyways. However, the star of the show was the carvery station because the bacon (Canadian?) was amazing! They also had hand carved ham as well but only the outer edge of my ham was delicious while the inside part was a bit dry. There was also an omelette station which had great fresh ingredients but unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the cheese that they used. In general, I felt that the food was only a bit above average, but the restaurant itself was very nice and it did feel like we were dining inside a castle on the mountainside so it made it quite special. Their staff were all very attentive and extremely polite so I have to give them bonus points! read more

Unable to get in here for breakfast on our first morning due to a large tour group, my wife and I had no trouble getting in our second morning. After perusing the menu, it was quickly evident that the buffet was the better choice. Pretty much any ala carte dish was also available on the buffet and after adding in a beverage likely to be similar in cost. The buffet is pretty expansive and included an omelet station. I started with the cold side loading up on fresh fruit including pineapple along with yogurt both regular and Greek available. Next I attacked the bread wagon with lots of choices including banana bread (my fav) and chocolate croissants. With all that under my belt, I was ready for the main attraction. Not able to select among all the meats, I ended up with a little of everything. The German sausage was good but I suspect the turkey sausage would be a better choice. I tried both the regular bacon and the back bacon. The latter is sliced for you by the omelet person and was fantastic. Not something I can readily enjoy back in the States. The scrambled eggs were a little too runny for my tastes. Seems to be the norm anywhere outside the US. I also had half a bagel but their toasters were so weak that even after two passes I could not get it toasted to the point I like. Service was attentive. Our server was quick with the beverages and quick to remove our spent plates. The dining room is a pleasant space but two tables over someone was face timing without an ear piece. Annoying but at least they were speaking French so I had no idea what was being discussed. Overall the food and service were top notch. Had Christmas dinner there this past Christmas. Without a doubt, it was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The lobster bisque was inedible, had one spoonful, tasted so fishy it was like the seafood sat out for a week prior to making the soup. The salad was also inedible. It was a bed of quinoa topped with lettuce bits and two small 1/8th of orange segments with horrible salad dressing. The main dish was good but not spectacular. We paid an extraordinary price for horrible food and mediocre service. If you want to be completely ripped off, go eat here. Would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. My family and I came here for brunch last Sunday morning, and lucky us, we were able to get a table right away. We decided to go for the breakfast buffet over the a la carte menu, since it was more bang for our buck. Although, $35 for a buffet is pretty steep. They had plenty of options -- cold options (cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, etc.), hot options (sausage, bacon, baked beans, etc.), different toast variations, waffles, and french toast. They also had a smoothie bar -- yum! So needless to say, we weren't going hungry. The food itself was good. I did find that many of the hot bar options were dry and the smoothies were very warm, which I wasn't a fan of. I was a huge fan of the fruit -- so fresh and juicy! I have to give Sheila (our server) some major props, because she was fantastic. She made sure our coffees were filled, plates were cleared, recommended some awesome local spots to check out, and treated us like royalty. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and reminded me of a beautiful Spanish village with vines and pillars along the walls. If you're willing to splurge a bit and staying at the Fairmont, then I'd come here, but there are plenty of other local hot spots that are worth checking out in the surrounding area. This is my second time at the restaurant. It was good, but I don't think it's anything that special. It's very expensive. There are tons of amazing deals in Whistler at this time so the cost was a bit much for what you get. I found it the fairly typical fine dining experience. It was nice that they had a whole section of the menu for locally sourced choices, and the service was impeccable. They had cakes beautifully displayed throughout the dining area and I had the white chocolate cheesecake. It was great but super sweet. Amazing, amazing, amazing food and service. The interior was gorgeous with quiet music and no screaming kids!! The waiters are incredibly friendly and the food came extremely fast. Although the food came out quickly, the quality was still 100000/10. I ordered the gnocchi and it was literally the best gnocchi i've ever had. Compared to the other restaurants in the hotel, the prices were quite nice. Finally, if you're going to order dessert, order the crème brûlée. I think the best part about this restaurant (inside the Fairmont in Whistler) is the service. Every day until passover, they are having a $10 deal. They pick something from the menu (usually priced at $25-35CAD) and BAM it's $10. We ate on a Monday night and it was free range chicken. One fat juicy leg and one fat juicy breast. A dollop of mashed taters, plated over veggies. TOO MUCH FOOD. Of course, the meal didn't end up being $20 because we had to go and order beers, and dessert. The dessert disappointed a little. We go the maple creme brulee, but it was all too mushy and not cold, so they probably just made it and brought it out real quick. read more

But best of all: a buffet for the kids (sliders, Mac & Cheese, chicken tenders, vegis & dip), and THE Most Amazing kid's dessert buffet a la Willy Wonka. The kids were in heaven. The service was outstanding as well. Our waitress brought vegis & dip right away for the kids - pro move. Perfect choice for Easter dinner. Located in the Fairmont Chateau hotel. Breakfast service is great, I have a gluten allergy, and they are amazing... Very focused on 1st class service... One morning I had Gfree French toast, the second eggs Benedict... These are real treat for a gluten free person.... My biggest bummer is I have gone two nights in a row and been turned away... Evidently the front desk and the manager don't talk much. The weird thing tonight is they closed an hour early... Them they wanted to argue about it... After the first person walked away, the second admitted, the manager decided to close early...
