Decent food but poor service. We have dined here on two occasions and both were lackluster at best.

We can't figure out why all of the reviews are so good. There were some nice things about the place. The bread and butter and the cheese plate were nice. However, the service wasn't satisfactory and the entrees were disappointing. It definitely wasn't a fine dining experience. The beef Wellington was ordered medium rare, but served medium. It was pretty tender, but lacking flavor. The mushroom gnocchi had an okay sauce, but was also lacking in flavor. It was cool when it arrived at the table. The gnocchi was tough. Both meals had to be salted. The creme brûlée tasted like something you would get from a snack pack pudding cup. Our meal costed $100. We would have preferred chipotle. read more

Friendly staff but mediocre food. Site has gone down with each visit to Tulsa. My filet was tasty but lukewarm and salad was wilted. Wine and bar selections were good. Menu and kitchen could use update. Sad that our " favorite" place is not so special anymore. read more

The Chalkboard is a very cozy, inviting and serene place to have dinner. My girlfriend and I ordered the duck and ratatouille. It was good, flavorful and presented very well. Our waiter was very helpful in that we weren't entirely sure what everything on the menu was. On the other hand, we weren't treated as well as we should have been. Yes, we were helped but we were obviously put at the bottom of the priority list when it came to: seating, time the waiter spent with us and to add to that, we had a reservation for 2 and they seated us at a table for 6. Probably miscommunication but still dont expect it from some an esteemed restaurant. Good food, nice waiters just a little sloppy on a slow night I guess. read more

The food was pretty good. We tried the tea cured salmon for appetizer and pan seared chicken and duck for entree. The salmon was too salty but the chicken was cooked to perfection, amazingly complimented with the lemongrass. The part where they really lack is the service. One server was responsible for about 10 tables and while the food came out pretty quick, we had to wait forever to place our orders. This and the salty salmon gets them the 3 stars, otherwise the duck and chicken were definitely worth a 5. This place was a pleasant surprise in Tulsa. read more

Very quaint little place tucked into a hotel. The menu is not huge, but they source a lot locally. That being said, the food was wonderful. My salad was a but salty, but the main dish Wellington was perfect. Service was wonderful as well. read more

Absolutely love this place. Josh and his team are amazing and the food is incredible. The pecan salad with blackened salmon is some of the best I've had (and I'm from the Northwest). Perfect setting for business meetings and wonderful for a date night. The new patio is my favorite with live music periodically. read more

My husband and I chose to dine at the Chalkboard at our anniversary as we were staying at the adjoining hotel. What a treat!! Definitely some of the best food I have ever eaten. I ordered the Beef Wellington and my husband got the market fish. Although both dishes were delicious, the Beef Wellington stood out as superb. The cauliflower risotto was amazing! Even the bread was tasty. We had a amazing service. Waiter was very attentive and we had a chance to chat with both the owner and the chef. We returned later that evening for drinks at the bar and had some delicious craft cocktails. The basil daiquiri had a smooth, fresh taste. Very enjoyable. Sangria was also one of the best I had. The owner was our bartender and was friendly and helped us select drinks and even gave us some drink samples. The experience was a treat for sure. We racked up a bill close to $200 wth drinks and food. However, a great experience for a night of celebration. read more

I don't normally write reviews but this is the second time we have been to this place and the food is phenomenal. The first time we went I was a little offset from the prices so I just ordered a salad while my husband ordered the prime filet. The salad was good for a salad but the filet was the best I had ever had (a bite of). We just went back tonight for a date night and it was amazing. The server Kevin was amazing in helping us pick the perfect wine for our prime filets, it was a pinot nori. The smashed potatoes with the vegetables was a perfect pairing for the meal. We also had an amazing bread pudding that Kevin suggested. Throughout our entire meal we had staff including the manager coming to ask how things were going and if the food was fine. It was an excellent meal with excellent service. It is a bit pricy but in our opinion worth every cent. We would recommend it over and over. read more

The menu is varied, but way overpriced. I mean WAY. Plus- the appetizer selection sucks, so if you're thinking you could impress a date or have a romantic glass of wine and apps at a fancy bar/restaurant, go somewhere else. Just go somewhere else in general. read more

Have enjoyed dinner here many times. Most recently, I had their outstanding beef wellington (Chalkboard is one of few local restaurants that offers it). Service is consistently stellar, mostly because we are usually served by Kevin and he is excellent. Can be pricey, and can feel a bit stodgy, but overall it's a Tulsa classic. read more

Service was extremely slow and the restaurant was not busy for brunch today. I had to go up to the bar and ordered my own drinks. Server never came by to ask how we liked the food, service was painfully slow and we did not feel like we were tended to properly for this level of a restaurant. Took our daughter and granddaughter here last night and these folks didn't disappoint! I had the Beef Wellington as did my daughter , my wife had halibut, and our granddaughter had a petite filet. Let it be known! This place is fancy. Like the quiet fancy but still comfortable vibe. It was good, just know what you're getting into. It's not like a casual could be fancy Charleston's, it's like a fancy Italian restaurant price with a comfortable vibe. It was good, not the best I've had for the price, but maybe if I had been expecting the type of place it was I would have enjoyed it more. Meh, wouldn't return... We had a business lunch and were underwhelmed with the food and service. The hummus board contained more pickles, olives and edible flowers over hummus. We had to ask the server what the specials/soup of the day were and she seemed overall disinterested. The quiche and salads were subpar and nothing special enough to warrant another trip. read more

Very disappointed-reservation for 6:30, arrived at 6:30, seated and ordered drinks and dinner. Waiter was informed we were headed to see Michael Buble concert at 8. Drinks came just before 7 and waiter told us at 7:05 dinner was ready. Again at 7:20 waiter told us that our dinner was ready. We talked with the waiter, who knew we were going to concert via Chalkboard shuttle, about our meal and time to eat and enjoy. Finally at 7:40 our dinner arrives. We eat in 10 mins. Eating at the Chalkboard is not cheap and rushing thru an expensive dinner was not an enjoyable moment. Had not eaten at the Chalkboard in a long time. I specifically asked if the bartender knew how to make a sidecar (the original sidecar) and was told yes. I was looking forward to the drink. I was disappointed. It was not a sidecar. I know how to make it at home and have had the opportunity to visit Harry's New York Bar in Paris where the drink originated 102 years ago. It was not the waiters fault for either the poor drink or the late late dinner. Chalkboard may be good for lunch or brunch but they missed it last night. read more

Went for Mother's Day Brunch Buffet. Very unimpressed. Had reservations, arrived early, checked in and set at the bar. Host forgot us and set several table before us. Fortunately the bartender reminded him and we were promptly seated. Salad selection was minimal. Cocktail shrimp were large and good as was the smoked salmon. Entrees looked unappealing. Carved roast bed was raw, biscuits and gravy was cold, other items were just ok. Two stars are for the dessert items, bread pudding was very good, as were the other baked goods. At $42 per person for the buffet this was a very expensive dessert bar. I will not be in any hurry to return. read more

Atmosphere is nice enough, but food mediocre over all. Chicken was the best dish in our party of 12, with under seasoned scallops 2nd, although one order of those was served cold. Most disappointing was the rib eye. A thin and over cooked $42 steak. Ouch! Medium rare was grey throughout. Just terrible. Obviously not a steak place. Vegetable garnish were an afterthought. This place has it all; great food, amazing service and fantastic cocktails. The location is inside a historic hotel which makes it even cooler. They have a menu that changes and the changes are always delicious. The steaks are perfectly cooked. The scallops are out of this world. The halibut is excellent too. The only problem is deciding what to eat. The cheese plate is yummy too. If you have questions, the servers are exceptionally well versed in suggesting food and knowledgeable about wine pairings. My family and I visited the establishment for Easter Brunch Buffet, and it was fabulous! Typically buffets contain average quality food but not the Chalkboard! Crab claws cracked and ready, properly cooked prime rib and pork tenderloin, fresh salads with house made dressings, and tons of other options! Took my parents and wife here for Mother's Day. When we got there our table was ready as promised. However, it was a buffet only - no ordering from the menu. So we were ok with that, but we had to go up and down stairs to get to it! Not bad for me, bad for my folks. There WAS an elevator option - which they used - but how weird is that? Buffet slections were just OK. I was floored when I got the ticket - $35.00 per person for a mediocre buffet. I've had much better ones for less. (Philbrook's La Villa for one). Not only that, the service was poor. All the waitress had to do was keep our glasses full and remove used plates. But she would disappear for a while. I had to get up and go ask one of the waiters near the kitchen for butter, and this seemed to annoy them. When I made the reservations, I wish they would have told me it was buffet only and quoted the price. Lesson learned - next time I will ask! We were not impressed. read more

Mehh. Ate here for lunch. My alvocado, BLT was pretty basic. I figured for the price it would have been loaded up with the ingredients but there was a single layer of everything. Fries were fine...nothing I'd write home about. My husband did enjoy his Bloody Mary. It was very flavorful. He had the stuff French toast which was also just ok. They were kid friendly as far as having high chairs but no kids menu. I think it's probably a better dinner place. read more

Had a fantastic romantic meal at the Chalkboard. Beef wellington was outstanding, as was the seabass special. Great dishes to choose from from dinner to casual lunch. Burger was great and bar staff very accommodating to travelers. Pork belly sliders were very tasty and it is just a hop downstairs when staying at the Ambassador. Not too loud but accommodating to business meetings. read more

I went to a wedding rehearsal lunch here and the food was very good!!!! I had the chicken and the mashed potatoes were amazing. The service was not amazing and I kept having to go find someone to ask for a drink refill even though they would look around straight at me and just keep walking. However the private room was really nice that it was in. read more
