Overall, the food was delicious. I initially ordered the lobster risotto which is a new menu item. I did not enjoy it. Replaced it with the beef stroganoff which was absolutely divine. Could use more beef in the dish, but the flavoring was perfection. Our service was a little lax to be a fine dining restaurant. Chris (bartender) was absent a bit and then when we asked for things, he'd forget. We also didn't have table settings when we were sat and in our party of 4, only received 3 menus. Came here for a double date with a couple who loves this place. I'll start with the pros: good drinks, nice ambiance, attentive server but also ensured he didn't intrude on conversational flow. My fiancée really enjoy the chocolate ganache dessert. I've heard they have decent specials/happy hour menus but cannot speak from experience since we went on a Friday night. Cons. Our server started the evening stating the restaurant's goal is to serve the best steak we've ever had. Sadly, this goal was not met. The charcuterie was a basic spread. Cheese squares looked like they came out of a package, a small sliver of goat cheese, maybe a quarter of an apple. The biggest disappointment was the steak. I ordered the classic with mashed potatoes and green beans. It had little to no seasoning. The steak was tough. My fiancé ordered the umami ribeye and it was not properly rendered. We had a lovely dinner at Phryme for our last night in Tulsa. The service was great from the moment we walked in til we left. The ambiance was nice and intimate. We ordered a variety of appetizers to start. With most of the items being seafood, I opted for the tenderloin beef with mushrooms. Wow, it was amazing and the mushrooms were so delicious. When it came time to order our steaks, I wanted the same mushrooms they served from the tenderloin appetizer but, instead, they served large portabella slices with a deep red wine base. We were looking for an elevated steakhouse for a birthday celebration. There were a lot of good things about our visit to Prhyme; however, ultimately, it was a disappointing experience. First, the good: - The AC wasn't working properly and my husband received a phone call well in advance of our reservation to ask if we'd like to rebook. (It was fine). - The hostess greeted us with birthday wishes. - Our waiter was attentive, polite, and very professional. -They took a drink I didn't like off our bill -They offered tastes of their wine by the glass - They very kindly comped a birthday dessert. Here's what kept it from being a great experience: the food and drinks were uneven in quality and the steaks are ridiculously overpriced. We started off strong, with an amuse-bouche that turned out to be one of the best parts of the meal. I ordered the Sakura, a vodka-based cocktail whose description sounds like a blend of delicate and interesting flavors; and which turned out to taste exactly like pink lemonade with a splash of vodka served in a glass that was too big, resulting in a cocktail that looked like someone had sampled it before it got to the table. (They did remove it from our bill). The crab cocktail was delicious. A nice, crusty, warm slice of bread with plenty of sweet butter is a lovely addition to an elegant meal. Unfortunately, Pryhme's bread service offered none of those things. The wine list, especially the wines by the glass, is clearly curated by someone with a very particular taste and unfortunately for me, it just didn't complement mine. I sampled three reds and they were all very similar. My waiter made recommendations, but his idea of a big, bold, fruit-forward wine and mine were at odds, so I wasn't willing to attempt a half or full bottle, especially when the list's price points were not especially wide-ranging. The list of wines by the glass was also very limited. The glass I ended up with was only serviceable and I was not tempted to order more. They were out of the Australian Wagyu, the cut I'd specifically come for. It would have been nice if the waiter had suggested an alternative. I ended up getting a New York Strip with a very expensive upgrade of two sea scallops. They were prepared as requested, medium-rare, but were otherwise completely unremarkable. There was certainly nothing to justify the price tag. There was zero effort at presentation: just a steak and a couple of scallops on a plate. The side order of Brussels sprouts were completely average and not worth the $10 price tag. To be very clear, I have no problem paying premium prices for a premium meal. Neither of these dishes were in any way premium. The desserts (chantilly cheesecake and orange bread pudding) were delicious, on a par with the amuse-bouche. It's also worth mentioning that my husband's lobster risotto was excellent. Less importantly, but a factor: the restaurant interior is quite dark and stripped-down, without so much as a candle on the tables. We had to use our phone flashlights to read the menu. My impression is that Phryme's intention is for the food to be the star of the whole show. That would be fine ... if only it had been. Ultimately, while the service was very good and some of the food was too, the overall experience was just not worth the price tag. read more

Rude hostess!! We stopped in for happy hour and dinner and walked into the bar area. The hostess was helping another guest at the host stand, but she came into the bar area to stop us before we could sit down at the bar. When I mentioned we were there for happy hour, she responded, "There is a person before you." While I understand she was assisting another guest, the tone felt abrupt and unwelcoming. The interaction left such a poor first impression that we decided to leave and go elsewhere. What struck me as odd was that she interrupted what she was doing to reprimand us, despite the bar being completely empty. Both the hostess and our waiter were great vibes, super friendly and welcoming. The steaks were for sure delicious, but I was sorta disappointed by the seafood platter tasting not as fresh as could be. Also, the sides, sauces, and appetizers were pretty heavy on greasy processed oils. The cheese fondue on the broccolini and the au gratin were just too heavy. It was overall pretty good, but for how much this dinner cost, it really should have been much better. A lot of corners were cut. We still had a great time though. *** Update: the seafood was absolutely NOT fresh. My friend got pretty bad food poisoning later that night, vomiting, fainting, shaking, and chills. The atmosphere felt like a hotel lobby. Tables set with wrinkled and creased tablecloths. Lighting was not intimate. Music was a range from songs from Austin Powers, pop music, and jazz. What was paid for- Ultimate Dinner - $540 total "Enjoy a 5-course Chef's Tasting Menu paired with Wines by our in-house Sommelier. On a business trip and stayed downtown. Asked for a recommendation and luckily Prhyme was open on a Monday night. We were seated right away and service was fantastic. We ordered drinks from their cocktail menu and started with the French onion soup and crab cakes. Both were outstanding. They serve 2 large crab cakes and some of the best I have eaten. We split a filet and all of their steaks come with mashed potatoes and French green beans. Everything was so so good. Prhyme is surrounded by street parking. There is low lighting (not dark) which is great for an intimate dinner. There are limited tables so reservations are ideal. We took my mom here to celebrate her birthday. The filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The frites were a little salty for me. The green beans (haricot verts) were one of my favorite sides. The Brussel sprouts were good (but I wouldn't get them in the future). My dad said the au gratin potatoes were yummy and creamy. I was a little bummed that besides French fries (frites) that there wasn't a potato option for people with dairy allergies. My mom said our filets were better seasoned than her NY strip. Escargot $17 ($8.50 on Monday). Plus wine, cocktail and beer specials ($5-8). We did get wait listed and have to wait about 40 minutes to get a table in the small bar but then it was an actual table which was nice. Wine was great. Food was great. Steak was great. I go out to a fine dining experience every other month with a group of friends. This month the choice was Prhyme. I'd never been there before and was impressed with my first steps inside. We were seated at our table very quickly and our drink order was taken right away, after a few minutes looking at the drink menu. That menu is an impressive 21 pages and has a table of contents so you can find what you're looking for. I always order something I can't get at home or find anywhere else. I had the Shifting Tides cocktail, which was very good. My meal order was the 6 oz Prime Filet, medium, with the Seared Sea Scallops. The sides were Garlic Smashed Potatoes, Haricots Vert (string beans), and Herbed Butter. I selected the Vineyard 29 Napa Valley Cab Sav to accompany this extraordinary meal. OH MY, the steak was cooked to perfection and absolutely tender. Our whole group felt so pampered, which is what we're looking for in fine dining. The wait staff was always there, without being interruptive, and helped us with good descriptions of our meals and wines. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but I was so disappointed after eating there for Valentine's Day. It was my husband that made the reservation as a surprise. He knows I love a good steak! Our reservation was at 7 and we were seated promptly. So far o good. It went down hill from there. We met our server and he told us about the special Valentin's Day menu. Then he disappeared. We waited 10 or so for him to come back so we put in our drink and meal orders. After another 15 minutes, we received our drinks, we noticed them siting at the bar in the cold back room we were sitting in. After a few minutes, my husband picked them up and brought them to our table. So now it's 7:30 and we just got our first drink. We received our meal at 8:00, a full hour after we arrived. The food was just dropped off, of course the meat temp was wrong. I ordered a medium rare and my husband ordered a medium well. My steak came out a medium well and my husband's a medium rare. I decided not to say anything about my steak because I was starving but my husband couldn't eat a rare steak so he waited for several minutes before our server came to see if our dinner was good . He took my husband's steak back and after several minutes his steak came out and I was done with my meal.The server apologized for our steak and gave us a complimentary dessert for our troubles. That's was $15. We spent $200 plus tip. My husband ended up eating bread and Mac and cheese so he took his steak home as did I because it was so over cooked for my liking. I would expect a a manager of some sort to come to us and apologize but nope! I still tip generously because I don't know if the server was over worked, the kitchen and bar was backed up, or it was just poor management. Either way, I don't recommend. My salad was phenomenal. It was very similar to a wedge salad--complete with cucumbers, fried onions, bacon, and delicious blue cheese. It was just what I wanted it to be. The family style sides were great. The mushrooms were simple, but very well done; and the loaded smashed potatoes were delicious with a really unique green sauce. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Seriously, I ordered my ribeye medium rare and it was the perfect warm middle and beautiful pink center. I wish I had ordered one of the butter add-ons, because the crust needed a little more flavor, but overall an excellent entree. The dessert was complimentary for Grant's birthday, and the chocolate cake was simply outstanding. A warm chocolate ganache paired with cold ice cream is possibly one of the best ways to finish off a wonderful meal. Our pocket books are hurting, but our stomachs are incredibly satisfied. It is definitely a fancier vibe, waitstaff we're all dressed up, and it set the tone for what to expect in presentation. The crab melted in your mouth, the corn was out of this world and the mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts were some of the best I've had. We were in town for a concert the following night, so when we asked our waiter for recommendations on spots to hit up after dinner, he returned with a hand written list of recommendations. Amazing. I was recently in Tulsa for a weekend, and looking for a good steak. I was torn between a couple, and ended up picking Prhyme. I was really glad I did. I went on a Friday night at 7:30p, and the the restaurant wasn't as full as I'd expect it to be. The bar area was bustling, but the dining area wasn't too busy. Derek was our waiter, and he was awesome. Very knowledgeable and personable. One of the specials the night we went was King Crab legs, and my dining companion ordered those. They were beautiful and presented already cracked open in a plate with a bowl in the center for butter. I had a taste, and it was heaven. I believe him when he said they were flown in that morning. I went with the prime ribeye with bone marrow butter. I'm normally a purist and don't sauce a beautiful steak, but Derek recommended a side of the veal demi to dip my steak in. I was blown away. It really amped up the beef flavor of the steak. My steak was cooked perfectly, and almost fork tender. The sides were also amazing. The maque choux was my favorite, but the garlic smashed potatoes and bacon Brussels sprouts were also very good. It is hard to describe the maque choux. It is "creamed corn", but very different from the gross canned stuff. It is amazing, and I'm glad Derek recommended it. All of this wonderful food, ambiance, and service does come at a higher price point than even the average higher end steakhouse. I think their extensive list of specials, wine list, and fresh seafood make it worth it. Since we were visiting from out of town we asked Derek for some recommendations for some live music we could go to after dinner. He chatted with us about some places, and then came back later in the meal with a hand written note listing 5 places, the addresses, what they were known for, how far away they were, and if he recommended walking/driving/rider share to get there. That is service! After our wonderful dinner we walked to the nearby Duet's that Derek recommended. It was a really cool space, however they were at capacity for the night. We walked to the Hunt Club, and heard Grooveyard instead. Kind of an eclectic small crowd, but everyone was friendly and welcoming. The food itself is outstanding, and it's obvious that this restaurant puts a great amount of time and care into making everything that walks out of those kitchen doors is of the highest quality. My steak was cooked perfectly, although not as tender as a $65 steak should be, but perfect flavor. The asparagus was very good served in a crème sauce with cheese on top. My wife's 6oz filet which came with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes were both very good. We split a salad to start. Smaller than expected but good nonetheless. The absolute best thing was the cheesecake. This was seriously the best cheesecake we have ever had. Trust me that's a big compliment! All in all very good food, great desert and fantastic service. It wasn't hard for the 2 of us to get a seat but it was more difficult for a larger party of 5 (longer wait but they got drinks). Loved loved loved the Prhyme burger - subbed cheddar cheese, greens, Prhyme sauce (fancy house-made steak sauce) and bacon. I would absolutely get it again. Perfect ponme frites that we're crispy.
