Horrible experience on 6/14/24. We waited quite a long time and our waitress apologized, said the kitchen was backed up, eventually it wasn't very busy. Then we finally get our meals and two out of the three were cold. My husband ordered prime rib and it was literally mostly fat. Fairly decent Italian food here, but nothing spectacular. Large place with big bar surrounded by lots of tables. A very old thyme dinner house but it did not have an Italian feel to it. Service was pretty good, the menu is huge and my meal was quite large. I had a combo with Caesar salad, chicken Parmesan and eggplant parm. The salad was old and wilted. This restaurant has been in a slow decline for over a decade. The service is generally good, but the food is mediocre at best. Most of it seems like it came in frozen and reheated. When we first walked into the bar area, there was a funny smell, like mold and old stains. ... There were only six people at the bar. The guy behind the bar had no personality. We finished our drinks, but neither bartender bothered to come back and ask us if we wanted another one. (We did.) After being ignored for a while, we paid our bill and left. I could've understood the poor service if the place was busy, but the place was basically empty. ... Walking out of the bar, there was a gaggle of at least 8 waitstaff sitting/standing around talking. (The place was basically empty, so they had nothing else to do.) If your cooks cannot tell the difference between chicken and meatballs you got issues in the back of house. From the looks of it in the front of house issues as well as no tag on the bag to confirm the order and no one checked the order and handed me a bag. I've been to quite a few locations of The Chateau, this not being one of the better ones. If you haven't been to The Chateau before, at all of the locations they give everyone a placemat listing all of their locations. I've always been intrigued to come here because of the melodious "Water View Dining" amenity listed as being available only at the Norton location. And yes, I will say that the water view is sweet here. Not extraordinary, but an attraction to lure me back all the way over here from Westwood. More benefits of this place include a somewhat secluded location, away from lots of other retail or restaurants and lots of nature and beauty in the outside area. The restaurant is considerably larger than other Chateau locations... I'd be shocked if this place ever really had a wait since there are so many booths (and tables) between the interior rooms and the water view areas. Now, to get to the negative. Service wasn't spectacular, I went with quite a few other people (party of six) and several requests for simple things just seemed to take too long. Bread taking more than fifteen minutes? Drinks not being refilled... (and for that matter, NEVER order water from any restaurant in Norton! Google Search the issues Norton has had with their water if you are wondering) just dissatisfactory honestly. Also, it's really poor service to not honor the Early Bird specials when a table is providing quite a bit of service to your restaurant and they order at 4:04 instead of 4pm. Going by the stipulations is fine, but I know that the Norwood location would have honored that (they are always spectacular over in Norwood). Food was good and the menu is always consistent (which is great), but this wasn't the most spectacular experience from The Chateau. Sure, I would come back because it's a nice restaurant, and the food and water view were both good, but the service needs to improve. 3 stars. I'd take the Waltham or Norwood location before this one any day. read more

We brought our elderly parents here for Easter dinner. We made the earliest reservation possible. It was a horrible experience!! Two meals came out first without even any sides, the other two meals came out as the first two were finishing up (which is when they brought the sides). We only had enough silverware for two people, which we pointed out when we sat down but still hadn't gotten. Then the waiter came over to ask us if we wanted dessert while the last two meals were still being eaten. To top it off, someone came by to ask how our experience was and then didn't even take the two seconds to listen. Just wished us happy Easter and walked away. Total s**t show. read more

Ordered take out 7/23. Family grille dinner with chicken and steak tips. I will preface this by saying we have not ordered this take out dish in about a year, but it used to be our favorite. Based on the experience a few days ago we will never order take out again. We received 4 small chicken breasts an 8 small pieces of sirloin tip. Steak was chewy and had no flavor. We had a very large party- approximately 25. We did have a reservation. The restaurant itself needs updating, decor is old, think 1980s, still that doesn't mean the food is bad, right? We ordered, food took almost an hour to come out even with a large party- that's a little excessive. I had the toasted ravioli lunch special. It was soggy and cold. My French onion soup- had no soup, it was soggy croutons and cheese. Another in my party- who had fettuccine with chicken- never received said chicken. We did have separate checks- (which we notified them of prior to making the reservation) and that too was an issue, most had missing or added items to their checks. Went to my husbands home town of Norton to visit his mother with our 2 children under 11.my husband and 10 year old daughter wanted to watch the Celtics game so we headed to the bar. a clearly marked sign ( seat your self) was posted. My family has a long history with the Chateau restaurant chain. The original one in Waltham was the place of my parents first date and as they expanded so did we. The chateau in norton was the location of both my bridal shower and rehearsal dinner ( perhaps my mother and mother in law should have spoken more?). And now my family that used to be 2 young love birds 40-something years ago is now a vibrant family of 14 people across three generations. Those 14 people got together this weekend to celebrate our matriarch's birthday. We went to the chateau and were not disappointed! They were proactive and put two waitstaffers on our table. Even though there were so many of us, we were given suggestions and personalized service as if we were a small party. They made the decision to bring out the food of the six children first which was very thoughtful and much appreciated! The food came out nice and hot and was all very delicious. I really like this place. Living in New Jersey, I have a great selection of chain restaurants, but that it. Too much corporate food. This place is like I remember from growing up in New England. Nice view of lake, and real food. I had the prime rib which was excellent. I especially loved the mashed potatoes. Obviously made from scratch. The salads were crispy and fresh, as was the waitress (that's a good thing!). Good, quality drinks too. After being regular patrons at the Norwood Chateau, my fiancé and I decided to try the Norton Chateau now that we live in the area. We went for a drink and an appetizer this past Saturday, and were pleasantly surprised by the ample amount of parking, the fresh interior, and the beautiful bar and lounge right on the water. The bartender who waited on us was very nice and prompt with both taking our order and running Keno tickets, and the toasted raviolis did not disappoint. My great grandmother would have walked out. Over all the food was way too pricy for the quality of food provided. If you want Italian food you might as well eat some spaghetti from a box at home. Sometimes it can be tough finding food that everyone likes and the kids menu here is so large they have something for each of my three boys.
