Visited the Pasadena farmers market with my gf last night and was drawn to the chicken guys by the fragrant smell of roasted rosemary! There was a line but moved quickly for being a one man show. Got half a chicken and potatoes to take home for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it! Disgusting!!! I had a very concerning experience. When we first walked up, we were told "10 minutes " with no greeting - just a rude tone right from the start. While waiting, we sat across from the food truck and observed some unacceptable food handling practices. The employee blew his nose, emptied a trash can, and continued working without changing his glove- only wearing one glove to begin with. He then left the truck, came back with 2 drinks from the bakery around the corner still wearing the same glove. Shortly after with that SAME contamined glove he began to serve customers. This is extremely unsanitary! And completely unacceptable when handling food. Food safety should be a basic priority and this experience left us uncomfortable and unwilling to order. I hope this is addressed immediately, especially in a shared food market environment where cleanliness should be taken seriously. read more

yesterday my wife bought a 2 chickens and potato from Mar vista farmers market , the chickens were to smalls like a chicken chicks and they charged her $20 bucks for each with small size of potatoes this is insane , we were expecting a regular size chicken that we used to buy , we bought it for our guest but that wasn't enough we had to go Sam's Club and get more rotisserie chicken which was $4.98 each and bigger then the chicken guys . read more

This review is for the Pasadena farmer's market location . I go almost every week to visit another vendor and every time I passed this food truck, I had wary vibes. He had quite a few chickens left towards the end of the night so I finally went today (7-20-23). I got the combo.... Half chicken, potatoes and water, $16+tax. The chicken was excellent! Great rosemary flavor, but the chicken isn't as big as other places. The potatoes needs a little more seasoning, but also needs to be just a bit softer. I needed to dunk the potatoes in the sauce, which is $1 each. The combo did not come with sauce, it should of at least come with one and then you could purchase more. The garlic sauce is very garlicky and chunky. Which was a good thing! When I told the gentleman, that I wanted to purchase more sauce, and I was counting out loud to make it to $20, he scolded me and told me "you need to add tax, you know." When I initially walked up to him and happily greeted him, he was like... what do you want. No hello, no nada. He was not very talkative. After I got my food and stepped aside, a young teen came up to him and asked if he could just buy a smaller amount of just potatoes. The gentleman didn't answer the teen. Then the teen repeated his question and told the gentleman that he didn't want a lot. The gentleman finally said, after what felt like a minute of silence, I can sell it to you for $4. Well, at least that was nice of the gentleman. I get it... it's hot, you've cooked and worked all day, and it's the end of the night, but YOU work in the public! You get more with sugar than you get with vinegar mister. I'd like to go back and support, but maybe I'll go to the Monrovia street fair or if I see another person working the truck. I'll say this; the smell of this place is what drew me in. It smelled so GOOD but damn was it lacking. I got a whole chicken and the best part of it was the skin. The white meat was dry, and the dark meat was pretty overcooked. The potatoes were lacking and slightly undercooked. Decided to try this truck at the Mar Vista Farmer's Market (on Sunday's) because you could smell the delicious aroma all throughout the Farmer's Market. My husband loves rotisserie chicken (and I love potatoes so it's a winning combo). My husband is picky about his chicken and he said it's the best rotisserie chicken he's had by far. It's so juicy and the meat tears apart easily. The flavor and char on the skin is to die for. The potatoes are sooo soft and so good because it's cooked in with the drippings from the chicken. I enjoyed eating the potatoes in the hot sauce -- which is actually spicy (which I love) and it had good acidity too. We did add a touch of salt to the potatoes (but we like salt) but I'm not taking away that the potatoes are delicious. You should give them a try and the chef is super friendly! I made sure I washed my hands before eating as it's a bit difficult at a farmers market do so. Well, what can I say, the rosemary laced rotisserie chicken with garlic potatoes was delicious. The sauce we got were both horrible, I tasted canned something that was not good at all. The customer service woah ...I'm going to stop. The chicken I bit into was drenched in rosemary from earlier in the day, definitely not marinades for more than a couple hours. The rotisserie looked like it needed to be thoroughly cleaned. A whole chicken with potatoes is enough for several meals, all for under $20 bucks, which is less than most single meals from farmers' market foods or restaurants on the West Side. The ChickenGuys is a catering service/ that is based in Long Beach. I was lucky enough to taste their amazing chicken today at the Marina del Rey Farmer's Market. The chicken is so good! It was $8 for two huge chicken breasts marinated in rosemary, oregano, thyme, and ginger then rotisserie cooked to until it is perfectly done. The skin is crisp and the the meat flavorful and juicy! The potatoes are cooked under the chicken so they get all the drippings! I love this truck and would definitely hire them for a party! read more

I decided to hit the Plummer Park farmer's market today and before I even crossed the street to the entrance, I could smell the delicious aroma emanating from the Chicken Guys truck. My daughter and I hit the market and this dude is right at the entrance, enticing everyone to his rotisserie chicken truck, which is super smart cos you can't get it outta your head as you buy your fruits & veggies. We looked around at the other food stands, but nothing else was calling my name. On our way out, I pulled the trigger and stopped for a half chicken & potatoes order. The chef was super friendly and let me tell you -- he KNOWS how to rotisserie the hell outta chicken! This is easily the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had. It's not even close. The seasoning was perfect. The skin was nice and crispy and the meat was juicy. The potatoes were also great. And it's affordable. You get a very generous portion of chicken & potatoes for a very affordable price. It was my first time and it won't be my last time. In fact, I will go every Monday JUST for this chicken. Used to love getting chicken from them at the So. Pasadena farmers market. I was going for years and stopped after some rude experiences with the owner. I've heard him being short with customers and stopped after he went on a tirade when I asked him for 1/2 a chicken when he was closing up. Apparently he only sells whole chickens close to closing. He could have been nicer about it but he chose to be loud. I grabbed dinner from a neighboring vendor and watched him pack up his 2 left over chickens.
