The Worst place for service. Party of 3 and they gave us the tiniest round table in the restaurant. Even the manager came out and couldn't accommodate us and was being rude. Kept saying to wait while the people behind us leaves but they had just started their mimosas and our food was already out. No space to put our second plate. They asked to put us on the waitlist of an hour + when we had already waited an hour. They had just sat a party of 3 in a bigger table that was open when we arrived. The worst part was that we had a 1 year old that also eats and was the only family with a child at the moment and we received just the worse. I had really high expectations of this place but just gave out the worse. The table literally looked like a flower table. The manager just told us in a rude way in front our child if we wanted to leave to leave then. So disturbing. read more

I've had chicken koop several times at either the whittier location or the south el monte which no longer exists however i will say the food at downey location is not as good as whittier. i gave it a shot since it's down the street from home but i won't be returning since food lacked flavor. you must park valet $7 which is ridiculous since it's not a fancy place. the best part of my visit was the service martin provided us. he explained the menu very well & even brought us one of each agua fresca to try and one of each dipping sauce for the chicken plate my bf had. he was very nice! we enjoyed the music playing! read more

The service and the people that work here are great. I don't get the valet parking. That was a hot mess. Anyway ordered the grumpy chicken sandwich with fries and jalapeño Mac n cheese. It looked delicious but that first bite into the sandwich was a shock. It was cold and the chicken was tough like it had been made earlier but the Mac n cheese was probably the best jalapeño Mac n Cheese I've had. It tasted like jalapeño and was spicy like jalapeño named menu items should be. For Chicken being their main thing the sandwiches we ordered were a disappointment due to the cold temp they came to the table. The flavors were great so we finished them. We had the pleasure of Marteen being our server and he was very knowledgeable of the menu and all of his suggestions hit the spot! He constantly checked in on us and made sure we were good with our selections. Marteen suggested the taquitos or loaded nachos for our starter and we chose both an order of potato and chicken. It came with a cilantro avocado dipping dressing and a spicy option. Very flavorful and delicious! For our entrees we selected (again with Marteen's suggestions) the dark meat with garlic butter, mashed potatoes, and corn and the fried chicken waffle sandwich. 10/10 with the food. The chicken was juicy on both the sandwich and dark meat entree. Margaritas were strong and very tasty! Please ask for Marteen.
