Usually have a great experience here, however, the last time I came in the customer service was awful. Was not even acknowledged for the first few minutes I stood at the counter while the employees were talking in the back. The man making my sandwich in the back rolled his eyes and looked incredibly inconvenienced I wanted my sandwich changed to a smaller size. I usually like local businesses. I have been to Big Town many times over the years. In Corvallis and Albany. This was the straw though.. I think Big Town is over priced. It's appears to be run by people who (in my opinion) do not plan on being there long term and honestly don't seem to care. I ask for simple things such as bacon not to be added. It's there. What business wouldn't take advantage of someone asking to not add a cost? They forgot my mustard too Come on. They do have great bread so please just work on the service. read more

I was soooo craving a sandwich and happen to see a guy walk by with a BTH bag in hand. Needless to say, I had no idea Albany had opened one up. Located in the heart of the city and only a couple blocks from the courthouse...there is plenty of parking in the area. The inside is clean and offers plenty of seating, I personally like the window seating setup. Staff were friendly and welcoming. As for the food...I went with French Dip-roast beef and au jus. This undoubtably has to be one of the best French Dips I've had in a long time...the bread was soft and the meat stacked high! The au jus offered plenty of flavor to compliment the sandwich. I'd would've had a picture to attach but I ate the damn thing to fast before I realized I should've take a photo. There are a number of sandwich shops in town and I'm sure they all claim they have the better sandwich...but for a chain establishment, you can't go wrong with this BTH! read more

Feels like they've given up. This was my favorite sandwich spot in Albany. Bread and fixings always fresh and good. Ordered for family today as a treat, as we've been REALLY trying to support local businesses during the pandemic crisis. Our food was not very good. There was just no flavor, the veggies were haphazardly tossed on, where one end got sauerkraut globs and the other end had none. The panini was not crispy like it used to be, but barely warmed through. I do hope this was just a one-off but with money as tight as it is right now, I feel better giving it to local businesses that still care. Really a bummer. read more

Walked into sub shop on Friday evening, say 530 to 630 or so. We walked in and smelled the freshly mopped floors, bleach smell. One employee was sitting and made no comment, no smile, nothing. We walked towards the counter and this same employee came back behind the counter and basically laid on the counter. It was clear that they were going to close and they wanted nothing to do with us. Ordered an avocado delight which consisted of hard tomatoes with the cores cut out and extremely brown avocados. When I asked if I could get a sandwich with no brown avocados the staff got an attitude and said it's only brown because of the air. I don't care, I paid for a fresh sandwich that doesn't gross me out when I look at it. If you can't figure out how to store your avocados properly then maybe you shouldn't serve them. I always go to Big Town Hero when I'm in town! I ate here twice and it's always good. There's just something about the bread that makes it good. It's very soft and tender just the way I like my bread. I always get a turkey sandwich. I know it's something so simple that I can make, but without the bread it's not the same. They have 4 inches which is enough for me, but if i'm really hungry I would get the 8 inch instead. I wish we had a BTH in CA, but this is a place that I always look forward to going too everything I'm in town. read more

I order my food including a panini and pay BEFORE she tells me they're out of panini bread. So even though the main reason I went to this place is for a panini, I decide on a large BLT instead. The girl taking my order then tells me my BLT is $1.25 more than the panini so I have to pay for their lack menu items. If you're not going to have an item available, the employee should know and tell customers BEFORE taking their money. If I knew I would only be able to get subs, I would've went to No Baloney. read more

Small downtown shop owned by a super nice guy who's always done well for himself. He has always fixed any issues and puts together great staff. Best sandwich shop around. I've been a fan of Big Town Hero ever since I moved to Oregon 4 years ago. This place is great. The bread they use is softer and lighter than Subway and it tastes so much better. And unlike Subway, BTH has Fritos to go with my sandwich! Not that I'm trying to complain about Subway, because I still like them too, but my BTH order comes out to nearly $1.00 less than the same sandwich at Subway. read more

Good sandwiches and fast service. Pricing is good also. Come here multiple times a month for lunch. Haven't had a bad sandwich and will continue to come here as long as they stay in business. Next, I was tended to by a cashier, Alexis, who had an inappropriate and rude attitude. Lastly, while I was waiting for my order, the clan discussed cleaning techniques, and cleanliness. Normally great Reuben paninis. Parents eat here every Thursday. Today panini undercooked, pastrami cold, cheese not melted so I asked to reheat. They stuck it in microwave and cranked the temp up to about 400. Lady brought it back out and dropped it on the table in front of me as she snorts " there! Nice and hot!" Ruined texture of the bread and burned the crap out of my mouth. I returned to kitchen with it and they tried to kick me out of kitchen. Got a "Big"size 12" sandwich today. Roast beef and pastrami. I get home to find half the sandwich is just bread, mayo and a small amount of lettuce. So i go back to have them take a look and i get a bit of attitude but they said theyd fix it because the meat wasn't distributed right. Ha!! There was no meat! Nothing! Just bread! So they MAYBE added a thin half piece of meat and gave it back and said here ya go. Not going back. read more
