With live music on Friday and Saturday nights, the place is always upbeat and crowded. Beer selection is pretty good and prices are on par with most bars in the area. This place is great! I can only speak to eating at the bar (a few times) but the food is great, the service is great. You must try the onion rings cajun style - massive portion and amazing! The spicy chieftain chips are also delicious. As for entrees, the specials chalkboard is always filled with great seafood options, the salmon portion is great for the price. The blade meat sandwich as well as veggie burger are two favorites (minus the veg burger says its pineapple guacamole and it was just regular when I had it). My only suggestion would be to amp up their side salad, so it doesn't feel so sad and generic. read more

Good spot. I can't believe it took me so long to stop in here. Don't let the lack of curb appeal fool you. The ambiance inside is great. Options include your typical bar food, fish n chips, and Irish fair. I had the pork sandwich and thought it was below average. Went here on a saturday evening- there was about an hour wait but we were willing to wait it out; and we were glad we did. The food was great, drinks were great, and a great atmosphere. I really enjoy the Chieftan. Their food is great and clearly made fresh, not frozen and re-heated. Their drinks are standard. Their staff is very friendly and the atmosphere can be a lot of fun. The only complaint I have about the Cheiftan, through no fault of their own, is that it is a small space and can get very, very busy on a weekend, so while they move people through quickly, they do fill up fast and space can be limited. Definitely not a place to go on a Saturday night for a quiet dinner, go here if you want to have a few drinks and some fun. Lunch time and week nights are different. Wonderful homey Irish pub feel, great service and they know how to pour a Pint of Guinness properly. This is one of my favorite local establishments in the area, and it's always a regular stop when I come home to visit. The steamers are a hit, and the rest of the food is pretty decent, too. Prices tend to run a bit high, but you never leave hungry, and the service is excellent. It's usually "seat yourself," and the servers are super quick to greet. At night, the bar area usually has live entertainment, and the atmosphere is a pretty good time. Growing up, the places changed hands multiple times, but it has remained the Chieftain for many years, so that says something about the ownership. read more

Stopped by the Chieftain while attending some training in the area. I'd have no problem coming back. As other reviewers have said (and their website shows), it's an Irish restaurant/pub with plenty to choose from on the menu. I sidled up the smaller bar iin the front of the place and ordered a special from the blackboard - 2 stuffed clams and a cup of chowder for $10. Came with two slices of their homemade soda bread. Plenty of brews on draft or a well stocked bar to choose from. Dinner and two Guinness came to $20. Wednesday night must be trivia night, cuz the pub section started to get real packed and an EmCee came on testing the microphone. I'd have no problem coming back. read more

We've driven by this place numerous times going back and forth to Emerald Sq. Mall. We had heard good things about so we stopped in for lunch on the way home. The place lives up to its Yelp ratings. Service was friendly and efficient and the menu has something for everyone. I had the steamed mussels and they were excellent. The one thing I like when I order mussels is some good bread to dip in the broth. Unfortunately, the Irish Soda bread doesn't absorb the broth well. We plan on returning for dinner very soon. read more

Been here many times. Was very impressed with how they pride themselves on good food and happy customers. A few years back I raved to my friends about the golden fried clams. We went, and all were overdone. I told the waitress. She didn't hesitate and cleared them off the table, apologized and brought out 3 fresh orders. Cooked to perfection.! Turns out the oil was too hot. Now that's the way you take care of customers. I also enjoy the pot roast dinner. Tastes delicious and the mashed are better than my Moms! read more

Can not give a food review cause was refused service because I had a sleeveless shirt on. They tell me they can't serve me cause of their policy mean while in the booth behind me 3 women had tank tops on and when we left looked in the bar there was at least 1 gentlemen in there with the same style shirt I had on. I have lived in N. Attleboro do 50 years first time going there with family and this is how we were greeted. Don't believe I will be going there again cause I believe their dress code is selective. read more

The chieftain pub is good for some drinks and food. Surprisingly, lots of gluten free options on the menu. The Chieftain parking is annoying -- i always have a hard time finding a space. Every time I've been to the chieftain, I've been stuffed in there like a can of sardines. The wait staff/bar tenders are pretty good. read more

This might be a 3.5 star joint, but it is different and the atmosphere puts it over the top for me. Basically an Irish bar with a good size restaurant attached. The food was ok, but the bar scene was right up my alley. Definitely worth a shot if you live near by. I've been to the Chieftain many times in the past and always had a great time. This time, Saturday October 6th was very different. We learned the Celtic Clan would be playing and made sure we were there early. We asked a waiter what time to expect them and he said 9:00....unfortunately it was already past that. We realized the two guys were sitting with the owner behind our table. They were having a few beers and seemed in no hurry to get up on the stage. People in the bar area were leaving in droves. Finally one of the waitresses (at 9:40pm) asked if they could begin since there people were leaving. After a bit more time they got to their instruments and gave a half hearted appearance of enjoying playing. At that point we left and probably won't be back. read more

The best authentic Irish pub around. Fantastic line up of live music every Friday and Saturday - mix of Irish and cover bands. The food is excellent. I could eat a giant bowl of the seafood stuffing they use with the baked stuffed shrimp. Nightly specials are imaginative and delicious - the maple bacon salmon is a semi-regular special and it is juicy, sweet and salty. Kid friendly before 9pm, ours loves the chicken fingers and the hot dog. Real brown bread and Irish soda bread served at every table - goes great with a cold beer! The staff is friendly, personable and makes the pub feel homey and welcoming. Can't say enough good things. read more

I have been pleased in the past with the food served here however last night was completely different. Their famous Dublin pasta was served dry without the sauce, I had to request the waitress bring me some. The chicken in the dish was extremely dry and it was more pasta than anything else, not their usual flavorful dish. They also forgot to bring the bread. My friend's stuffed shrimp was overcooked.
