Arepa de choclo $12, with Pony malt soda $5
    Scott F.

    - 4/5: I tried the arepa de choclo. It's two corn pancakes with a layer of cheese in between. Too much cheese; I pulled off about half. The corn pancakes are too sweet. But the corn flavor is good, and it's perfectly browned. Very much a dessert things. -5/5: I tried the Columbian Pony malt soda; it's great; very much like the malt soda they sell at Oren's Hummus. But too much sugar/calories.

Choclo is awesome. I tried the Arepa de Choclo and Buñuelo, and both were addictive -- sweet, cheesy, and perfectly cooked. The Almojábana with ham and melted cheese was another standout. Viva Colombia!

So good, and gluten free! It's really hard to find any good gluten free places in San Jose, and this place did not disappoint.

Somehow he came across a YouTube ad for this restaurant and convinced me to make the drive all the way to San Jose... and wow, it was absolutely worth it! From the moment we walked in, the service was welcoming and attentive. The food? Incredible. Everything was packed with authentic flavor, beautifully presented, and honestly brought back memories of our trip to Colombia. We ordered the house specials along with a few Colombian beers, and the entire experience was just perfect. It's not every day you find a place that's worth fighting Bay Area traffic for, but this spot definitely is. Great atmosphere, delicious food, amazing service -- we will absolutely be coming back again. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic Colombian flavor and a fun dining experience.

It has a super homey, welcoming vibe. Here is the breakdown of what we ordered: Bistec with Chorizo: The serving size was huge! Definitely big enough for two light eaters. It was really tasty overall, though I do wish the beef had been a bit more tender. Beef Empanadas: Hands down, some of the better ones I've ever had. The skin was thin and perfectly crispy, and the filling was packed with flavor. Pair them with their chili oil sauce... yumm! To top it off, our waitress was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. I'll definitely be returning to try some new dishes next time!

Milohas (mil hojas) means a thousand layers in Spanish, and one taste of Milohas' pastries will make you understand why they picked that moniker. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Friendly service * Covered outdoor dining * The crust of the empanadas was buttery, flaky, and delicious. All the fillings were good, but you have to try the Hawaiian filling! It was truly fantastic and had us wishing that's all we'd ordered. * Guava Finger has the same perfect crust and tasty guava jam--I could eat a dozen of these and come back for more. *oink oink* * Carissa really enjoyed their lentil soup. I didn't try it, so I can't comment. The Meh: * I kind of prefer the chunks of meat in Peruvian empanadas to the ground meat in Colombian ones, but that's just a personal preference. It was still delicious, so at the end of the day, it's all academic. The Ugly: * No indoor dining, and outdoor dining is limited to only a handful of seats. Conclusion: We've been on the hunt for the best empanadas in the South Bay, and we finally found them.

I wanted to get some desert items but they seemed to have very few things to choose from. I would have asked questions but inside the store was strangely loud and the woman who helped me was a low talker so I couldn't understand anything she was saying to me as it was. The empanadas are pretty large, as are the prices. $17 for the two. At this price point I was glad I decided not to buy more. Each comes with a tiny side of aji green sauce. They could have been more generous here. I found the spinach to be very salty and more breading than filling. The chicken one was a letdown. Chicken was lacking any flavor. For both the pastry was dry. Was only able to eat half of each and threw the rest away. Not really the kind of place you dine in for. You order at the counter and there is limited seating inside (in a way that makes you not want to dine in), and a few seats outside. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. This visit and subsequent review makes me feel sad. I want to support these unique, independent eateries but they make it difficult when the quality doesn't meet the high cost. Improvements would be to reevaluate their recipes, make the pastries less dry and dense, and maybe don't be so skimpy on the fillings.

The plantaines, white rice (exceptionally good), salad with avocado, and sauces. We finished our meal with in house fresh bakery items, which were really outstanding (See Pictures). Overall, the meal we ordered was pretty good, except for the plantains, which were hard, dry, and inedible (possibly not fresh made-was kept under a heat lamp). This restaurant may not be suitable for families, as it is also a sports bar with big screen TV's, loud music and geared for adults. The price point was fairly high as compared to other restaurants I have visited. Our bill for 2 dinners, 2 soft drinks, 2 desserts was $95 before tip. The restaurant was well maintained and clean.
