Food was delicious and it was a great way to try some Colombian food! We got the empanadas and arepitas and the blood sausage. I had tepid expectations for blood sausage but it was okay. It mostly had rice inside (if that helps). The empanadas were my favorite and beef was better. Sunday early dinner (~5:30) and this place was hopping! By 6:30, the crowd had thinned out. There was a lively ambiance given the shopping plaza was otherwise empty. The upside is there was PLENTY of parking. Back to La Terraza, they had traditional music but it was a little loud for me. There was a lot of outside seating so we could sit further from the one speaker. Service was so-so. At first I gave the benefit of the doubt because it was busy. But then it wasn't busy and we saw our server less. When I left at 7:15ish, I saw some of the staff eating their meals. In the outdoor seating there were a LOT of flies. There were no trash cans in the mall or any other attractor that I could see. Our guess was that when other parties would leave, the uneaten food would sit out a while before they cleaned it up.

Service fee for pic up order

Food choices were very limited for a pickup order. It was not worth the expensive price. But worst of all, they charge almost a 10% service fee for pickup orders that isn't disclosed until after you place your order, which violates California's SB 478.

We had dinner here tonight, for the first time. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived at 5:15pm. I love the fun colors painted on the walls and the decor. There's a huge TV screen on the wall. A Futbol game was on when we were there. And they had nice Latin music playing in the background. Our waitress was very kind and helpful with questions we had about some of the menu items and gave us great advice on what to order. We both decided on the Churrasco which is steak with fried unripe plantains. The plantains were so delicious and the steaks were cooked perfectly. I loved the chimichurri that came as a condiment for the steak. We also tried arepa reina pepiada which is an arepa stuffed with chicken, avocado, Mayo and cilantro. It was very rich. It wasn't my favorite but my husband liked it. I'm glad I tried it though. The cornmeal masa of the arepa was very tasty. Next time I will try an arepa with a different filling. I also ordered the mango juice. It wasn't very sweet but was just okay. Our service was excellent. It's sad that the whole time we were there, only one other person arrived for dinner. I really hope this place makes it. It's different and unique and worth trying out. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

La Terraza is one of the most authentic Colombian restaurants in San Jose. They offer a diverse menu of the day, which always comes with delicious soup! The rest of the menu is also varied, featuring dishes that truly represent Colombian cuisine. I always have the cheese and yucca arepitas--they are to die for!

This new Colombian restaurant recently opened and I had to try it. I was greeted by my waiter who could barely speak English, so you know the food will be authentic. The mango juice tasted fresh. I ordered the weekend special, Sancocho di gallina, a common chicken soup in Columbia, although I prefer Ajiaco. To my surprise, the soup came with half a chicken on the bone. The broth was savory, and the chicken cooked to perfection, which I dipped into the soup. I saw people ordering a scrambled egg dish, which I found out was not on the menu. Sunday seems to be the day to go, as they are smoking and cooking meat right outside the restaurant. You can smell the aromas as you enter. A satisfying lunch!

Hubby and I went for a little lunch date during the weekday and stumbled upon this restaurant on Yelp. We ordered the arepitas (5/5 so good!), I think empanadas (sorry I don't remember), and churrasco. The churrasco came with fries and a salad. Everything tasted really good. But my favorite were the arepitas - its yucca and cheese with some type of house special dipping sauce that was sooo good. We would love to come back and try items on their dinner menu. Huge interior so there's plenty of seating. It's in a plaza super far down Almaden Expwy so there's also tons of parking.

This place must be the real deal. Besides us, most folks seemed to be natives and spoke in Spanish with the staff. To me, that's extra appealing, because I know I'll be eating some "authentic" food. The staff there was very friendly and very generous. Our waiter was on it and we never missed anything. The gentleman working at bar, gave me two complimentary Colombian lollipops, after I stopped by to take a photo of their snack area. He didn't speak any English so we communicated with hands and feet. But his kindness was appreciated. We were going to try the empanadas, but they were out. So we ended up getting: -Arepitas (4/5): I was surprised that these were sweet and savory. The size of each is quite big so be careful not to get too stuffed. -Morcilla/Blood sausage (4/5): I thought the flavor was very mild and the portion was generous. I actually enjoyed it more then next day when it was cold. Cazuela de mariscos (5/5): OMFG, this was heavily. Tons of flavor, jam packed with perfectly cooked seafood (you will get some with every bite) and big enough to share. At first I was confused because another photo on Yelp showed a clear broth and not this bisque consistency, but then I saw the person ordered theirs without "crema". The menu doesn't mention it so beware if you're lactose intolerant. Also, loved the flavored rice that came with it. Took this dish over the top! Churrasco (3/5): I think my hubby had this confused with a steakhouse and ordered his "on the rare side." That was a mistake. The steak was pretty rare and we didn't get any of the sizzle that it was supposed to have. The meat had a lot of very fatty pieces, which would have been great on a charred steak, but not on a rare one. I would recommend you order the steak however the chef prepares it and then judge it for yourself. I highly recommend checking this place out and supporting the wonderful employees from this establishment.

Located in an empty-ish plaza (which is great because parking isn't a struggle). They have indoor and outdoor seating options. Outdoor seating looks like can hold 6 people per table and indoor and be customized by moving some tables around. We were seated close to the door which was really nice but since people were coming in an out on a somewhat cold day, we asked if we can move to a different table and they were totally fine with that. Staff is friendly and nice and food came out at a decent time. There was even some quick entertainment with a couple dancing in the middle which was pretty cool. My group and I have never had columbian food so we decided to get the family style option at the bottom of the menu in grande size. We were a group of 6 aaaand we didn't finish the food. Definitely brought the leftovers home! Everything was so good so I'd definitely come back to try their specials c:

This Colombian restaurant although a bit far from the center it is worth the drive to experience the food the service and the ambience it is incredible. As you can see through the pictures that I posted the variety of food and the quality and quantities are amazing. Sadly the one I wanted to show I completely forgot which was the casuela de marisco which is a seafood soup but it was so delicious and I was very hungry that I started eating and lost the ability to show you a good picture but I can say that that soup although it takes a little time to make is worth the wait and can feed easily two to three people. The experience here has been magnificent I rarely give five stars but when I do is because I truly believe they merit everything from service to ambience to food quality and portions again great place to be. Highly recommended and service is always with a smile special thanks to our waitress Valentina who made the experience wonderful.

We had been when they first opened which was almost a year ago I believe. They were still working out some kinks but we did like it. For some reason he hadn't been back but no exactly sure why. Well we ordered a bunch of food for takeout yesterday and absolutely LOVED it. Our family and guests gobbled up everything! The empanadas were amazing as were the dinner plates. We are 100% gonna but this in our eating routine from here on out!

New restaurant, new food...an interesting experience. This restaurant has been open for only 2 weeks. Our experience didn't go quite as what we thought, but nevertheless we stayed, as it was late and we were hungry. Lots of seating outdoors, walking in ...large open seating space and modern, clean simple decor. It was very warm inside the restaurant as we are in the midst of a heat wave and they have no air conditioning. Seat yourself at any open table. We were greeted by our server and given menus. Love the limited menu- front and back. Had many questions regarding the menu items- descriptions of items, ingredients, recommendations etc. But English was very limited- spoke to our server and then head or manager of restaurant before finally ordering our meals. A helpful tip would be to add a picture of each dish on the menu and to fully describe the dish. My hubby and I sat and waited for a long time for our dishes to come out. Most people around us who even came after us had been served and we're done eating! Had they forgotten us?!!! Hubby tried to grab our server's attention- he said 3 more minutes. Hubby's dish came out - pork ribs with fries and avocado salad. Beautiful presentation and flavors were on point. But where was my dish ? I had ordered the seafood soup with plantains and salad. His dish was getting cold, I told him to eat. At this point we were frustrated and I wanted to leave. We had already waited for about 45 min for his dish and by the time mine finally came out, he was practically done eating his dish! The manager offered me a plantain dish with cheese/guava for the long wait, but I wasn't able to eat it since I have a dairy intolerance. She apologized for the delay of my dish many times and said that this particular dish takes 15-20 min to prepare. That's fine, but this was more like an hour!! Another tip- pls add to menu - pls allow this amount of time to make this dish. Finally my dish came out, but staring at the soup it had crema in it. I have a dairy intolerance. No where on the menu does it state it has cream. Told the manager sorry I can't eat this soup and I can't wait another half hour for it to cook! She took it back and apologized and stated it would be made without the crema. Note - pls add to menu exact ingredients- some people have dairy intolerances. At this point I was so done! 15 min later my dish came out. The seafood soup was delicious! Lots of shrimp, mussels, scallops. Broth was beautiful without the cream. Plantains - thin and crispy with a hint of salt. Small lovely salad with tomatoes and avocado. By the time I received and ate my dish, we were the last ones eating in the restaurant. Many people had come and gone. The owner of the restaurant came and spoke (google translate and my hubby's limited Spanish) to us and apologized. Our meals were comped. He is aware of a new menu to be made and tweaked to address description of dishes. Pls add pics of each dish to menu too. Hopefully changes will be made soon. Food was very delicious! I want to support a new business in these times.
