Another little gem in Beckley. Friendly, knowledgeable, owner/barista who roasts his own coffee beans. I had a cold brew and cranberry with orange zest muffin. Both were excellent. And, you can get an Aeropress or the typical espresso drinks. Plus there's a variety of other beverages offered. And great jazz. How nice to find, right off the interstate. Good atmosphere and very clean, with interesting art and a broad selections of munchie offerings. Wifi is available so I ordered a peppermint mocha with extra shots and sat and surfed. Jazz played as customers came and went. I enjoyed it sufficiently that I came back a second day. Not the best location for me, I passed Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks for this place and I don't regret it. The owner/server is friendly and polite without being obsequious or chatty. The Chocolate Moose is a great place to find fresh coffee and excellent pastries (in addition to a soft serve sundae bar). Take the kids and let them play putt-putt or rock climb while the adults sit back and enjoy a cup o' joe (or a smoothie, or a hot chocolate, or you get the point). Heck the mini golf is fun for adults too. You'll always get fresh coffee here. Get yourself some good coffee there and get a bag to take home as well. Can get slammed at any second. While my party of three people were waiting for their drink 5 other people popped in line. Only one worker working to make drinks. I felt bad for the girl cause she had no help and was overwhelmed. POS system down. Great coffee! The menu includes creative and fun-themed coffees like "Nuka Coffee" with a Fallout theme, "The White Ninja" (My sister's personal favorite), and "The Mothman" which seems to be some folklore tale in West Virginia or something. The people there really know what they are doing with their coffee! The lounge areas are okay and could be updated, but very nice other than that! read more

this is a great place in every way. if you are looking for a cute place to have fun, take pictures, and get a drink or something snack-wise, this is definitely a great place. i highly recommend. they have the best coffee in beckley! they also have the friendliest staff ever. there is a cat that walks around who is the cutest and adds more for me to the experience but that's just myself. it also has adorable spaces and furniture and is great to take cute photos in. fun also to hang out somewhere considering there is so much to the place. they have mini golfing and rock climbing and even board games in the seating area. incredible place. read more

What an astounding hidden gem in the mountains of West Virginia! Chocolate Moose is an adorable coffee shop with quite a range of drinks. The beans are roasted in house and you'll be met by some of the friendliest employees you could hope for. They really do go above and beyond to make you exactly what you're craving. It's located only about a mile off the interstate and is well worth the detour. They boast a WV themed mini golf park, but the best part of the establishment is the indoor rock climbing gym. From the exterior, you wouldn't be able to fathom just how large it is! The owner, Kevin, is charming and helpful and Andrew, who belays his heart out in the rock climbing gym is so knowledgeable and inspires confidence in first timers like me. Being from NYC, I'm not sure how often I'll pass this way, but anytime I do, you can be certain I'll stop in. Definitely a "don't miss" in my book! read more

Stopped by one morning when the local Starbucks was closed due to mechanical issues. Very happy I did as the owner was friendly and made great coffee. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and have a non-typical drink. The owner went out of his way to insure what I asked for was exactly what I wanted. Easy to drive right past on Harper Road but if you get the chance to stop by you'll be happy you did. read more

I was staying in town and spotted this place when returning from the Kroger. I love the idea of a local coffee shop. The first time a coworker and I went in to scope it out, we were pretty much ignored. We wanted to see if it would be a good place to hold a work meeting, but it is not wheelchair accessible, so we had to rule it out. The next time I visited, a couple of friends and I went to play miniature golf. It is a decent course with lots of facts about WV. We enjoyed ourselves. Afterwards, we went inside to get some ice cream and a drink. My friends got their ice cream and we got in line. We waited quite awhile for the couple in front of us to get their order filled. The place was hot and my friends' ice creams started melting. (Since you pay by the weight, they didn't want to start eating them until after they had paid.) When it was finally our turn, their ice creams had half melted and they decided to forgo their drink order so they could start eating their ice creams. I went ahead and ordered an iced mocha coffee with almond milk. It took quite a bit of time for it to be made. When I finally got it, the coffee was tasty but the sitting area was so hot and stifling, that it was hard to enjoy it. We were more than ready to go. That ended up being my last visit. If you want to entertain yourself for an hour, go here to play miniature golf, then head to Tamarack for a drink. read more
