Came here with a few friends the other day and one of them ordered the chocolate beer float and I guess if you have the acquired taste for chocolate beer you will probably love it. However I did not and would never recommend it to anyone. I also think their shakes could of been a little better. Don't think I mentioned it before but this is a excellent date place. read more

A chocolate lover's heaven. Chocolate bon bons, hot chocolate, chocolate cake, EVEN chocolate beer! I went here on a whim and I'm really glad I did. The service is wonderful. The girls that helped us were super friendly & sweet. They offered us some type of chocolate as soon as we sat down. I was a little overwhelmed by ALL THE CHOCOLATE so I don't even know what it was, but it was delicious. I ordered the Spiced Dark Hot Chocolate & my friend ordered the Cafe Torino! I would highly recommend the Spiced Dark Hot Chocolate. It was really yummy & the spice provided the perfect accompaniment to the richness of the chocolate. The Cafe Torino was also pretty good. I would recommend it if you are a coffee lover! No matter what you order, the marshmallow is a must! It's an additional charge, but totally worth it. It was perfectly fluffy & fresh. Having been to their Park Slope location a long time ago, I dropped in to this empty outpost to peruse the homemade ice cream, which only included one chocolate flavor, and a really strong (in bitter coffee taste, not necessarily quality) coffee flavor. Said chocolate flavor was called 'Belgian Chocolate', so I asked the guy about it, and he was flabbergasted that I thought they made their own chocolate, then went on some disastrous tangent about how he basically knew nothing about the entire operation. But alas...I persisted and still ordered an incredibly overpriced and really lackluster $6.53 ice cream sandwich of Belgian Chocolate (which they make but can't explain) ice cream between small chocolate chip cookies. I tried ordering online and loaded my cart with 10+ items to be shipped. However, when I tried to pay and checkout, your website indicated that I needed to adjust my order since it needs to be in separate orders. I deleted one item at a time until I was down to three items and still didn't work and I don't want just three items and pay shipping for each. So, I called the store to see if I can order directly. The first person told me to call back when the website person is there and that you don't ship. I pressed on this since the website said you do. She passed me to a second person who told me she needed to pass me onto another person. I complained and said, "why is this so difficult", her response was "I'm trying to help you with YOUR problem!" Really? I'm a customer trying to buy stuff from you and it is my problem? No thanks!!! read more

Randomly walked into this spot with a friend of mine last week. Very nice establishment. The decor was especially nice and the food and tea was great. The place was pretty busy, but our server definitely tried her best to attend to our needs. Definitely a rest haven for all of the chocolate lovers out there. (updated March 2014) Great hot chocolate and the "Cafe Lou" (half a cup of hot chocolate mixed with half a cup of coffee) is great too. I prefer it with milk chocolate, although a friend of mine prefers it with dark chocolate. Delicious cakes and puddings, and if you come for table service the server I've had there is always very friendly and welcoming. The space is nice too. I used to like going in Park Slope, but the Court Street location is more roomy. read more

Who doesn't love desserts especially chocolate! This is my second time here. Both times was a good experience. The first time I came here I got the fondue. The fondue was good, not the best I've ever had but was the best I've had in Brooklyn The most recent time I was here I got the banana spilt to share. It was really good. The banana is caramelized and it comes with three ice cream flavors and the usual whip cream. The restaurant only serves desserts and beverages so it is a good place to come to after having dinner in the area. The restaurant is set up like a small café, dimly lit romantic atmosphere. I'll be back here again for my dessert fix. Staff is friendly and attentive. read more

There is always room for chocolate...this is a great date location, or a place to catch up with your girlfriends after watching a movie, shopping or dinner in the area.The ambiance is soft and intimate. When it get crowded it's difficult to hear the people you're with because of how intimate the seating area is... The service was okay, but if you're a big chocolate lover you must check out this location. read more

Loved the atmosphere and the cute layout of this shop. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by a beautiful case of wonderful sweets and chocolates. In the back is where customers can sit down and order off their dessert menu. We got the brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream and the spiced dark hot chocolate with the homemade marshmallow. Although the both were a bit pricey, they were really rich. The spiced dark chocolate had a nice kick to it that doesn't hit you right away and the giant marshmallow made it that much more decadent. The sundae was to die for. That brownie was so warm and gooey and the ice cream is not your standard vanilla ice cream. One could almost finish it by herself, but it is totally shareable. This is definitely worth checking out to satisfy your sweet tooth. Even if it is just to pick up a few items to go. read more

Brûléed banana split?? Enough said. Dessert was tasty. Service was a bit slow. The flavour combinations of their confections were very interesting and sounded like they would be good - raspberry-cayenne, dark chocolate blood orange, etc. I didn't get to try any unfortunately. This is my Second time trying out this small but cozy dessert shop. Previously my friend and I had ordered chocolate chip almond cake which was so light and just right amount of sweetness. This time I ordered a simple warm brownie sundae with Sumatran coffee ice cream (because vanilla gets boring to me ). It was really delicious and the ice cream was generous amount. Honestly, eating a brownie alone would be too much so pairing it with ice cream balances it out. I also got a chocolate egg cream which was okay. Waiter service was good as expected on a slow weekday afternoon. The desserts are pricey but the quality makes up for it. I'd come back to try other chocolate dessert. I used to frequent the Park Slope location and am sad it's no more. Their chocolate chip cookies are really great - some of the best in NYC. Not "too much" like I find Levain to be. I also love their chocolate cake. Again, might be my fave one in NYC. Lastly, the bonbons are really nice and feel quite special as a gift. You can get as few or as many as you like. I almost gave this 4 stars like every other starry-eyed depraved soul on Yelp, but I just can't. It's way way too gimmicky. Not my idea. It was Emma's but I like chocolate - a lot. This does have a twin location in Park Slope. I think its original location. The decor is very warm and welcoming. It's almost a cross between a cafe/lounge/wine bar. I feel like this is a date spot for some reason or they just play way too much on the motif of chocolate equals romance. And it definitely does not. At all. We were warmly received and nabbed a table/booth in the back towards a garden window. They offered us water, which was refilled frequently and complimentary spoon-fulls of a rich chocolate sorbet. It almost tastes like an incredibly intense chocolate syrup infused into a light ice cream. Very intense and nice. I debated getting cake but we were going to a birthday later that was rumored to have a cake. I love cake but I refrained and just opted for ice cream. Which now that I think of it, I may not eat ice cream for another solid month after this weekend. Over kill is such a thing in life. But I opted for a scoop of Belgium chocolate ice cream and my friend got a chocolate milkshake. She seemed to really enjoy it. Both were insanely rich and pleasing. Then eventually the lights started to dim after staring at what I thought was a cow picture that was actually a dog. Chuckles. Ingrid needs glasses and does not wear them unless she is driving or desperate. I have issues. But the sudden departure into 'mood lighting' killed it at least for me and we asked for the check and waddled over to our bar. I say - fun in the day if you're here to oggle chocolate. It didnt matter because the owners were so sweet and nice they were carrying on conversations and giving free chocolate samples out. Finally when we sat our order was quickly taken and brought to us. So I used to go to the location in the slope all the time. Finally made my way down here to bk heights and it's a decent location. The product is not the same though. The espresso is burnt so they need to retrain the staff on the importance of too much or not enough pressure when leveling the espresso. Second the service was the worst I've ever experienced and the almond chocolate chip cake was crystalized. Put the caramel on while the cake is still warm. The pudding is silky but doesn't have the strong milk chocolate flavor it once had. If you love chocolate this is still a good place to go and I'm hoping it was just an anomaly that night.... read more

Almost everyone I've spoken to who's gone to The Chocolate Room has had nothing but praise. I've heard everything, from it being the ultimate date spot, to their hot chocolate being the best ever, to it being lifechanging. I swung by after dinner in the area. I took 2 minutes to get a table in the back, where it's dimly lit, but everything has a red hue. We received an amuse bouche from our server right when we sat down, and it was all uphill from there. They have a great selection of dessert wines, and Chocolate stouts. Every single one of their desserts sounded amazing, but we eventually decided on the brownie sundae, since it was the easiest to share. Our waitress recommended the mint chip ice cream, which was a great choice. The brownie was warm and moist, very decadent. The ice cream was smooth and minty, without being overwhelmingly so. Heaven on earth. Go to TCR. Bring someone you want to impress. read more

I stopped in yesterday for the first time and I'm so glad that I did! We had the banana split and butterscotch mousse. It was the best banana split that I've ever had in my life. I'm not a fan of strawberry ice cream so I swapped it out for the banana ice cream and it was delicious. Nothing taste artificial and you can tell that they use good quality ingredients. The toppings are fresh and didn't over power the ice cream. The mousse was also good. On the way out we tried the chocolate cake pop and while it was very very chocolatey, it was not overly sweet. A chocolate lovers dream. I will be back to try some more goodies. My only suggestion is that I would love to have cold water, especially when it's so warm outside. We asked for some water and it was room temperature. Everything else, including service was great. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to try this place on a whim after dinner one evening. We had no idea what to expect but were blown away by what this place had to offer. The Chocolate Room offers a host of amazing goodies for anyone who desires some form of sweet. You can choose from a assortment of their diverse and utterly magical truffles to go or get seated and chose from their menu. The items on the menu range from items easily found in most bakery/cafes to item I have personally never seen anywhere else (Banana beer and Chocolate tea for example). I have been here a number of times since and have been impressed each time no matter what I order. A personal favorite of mine is the chocolate fondue. If you are looking for a nice spot to woo your date after dinner or just get a helping of delectable goodies into your stomach ASAP, the Chocolate Room will meet those needs and then some. read more

It's the Chocolate Room so everything is pretty much made from, with, or out of chocolate! Everything they make is delicious! When I'm in NY and have that cravings for something sweet I would walk to the chocolate room, and walk out with several different goodies. I highly recommend their brownies! I have a huge sweet tooth but honestly most of the desserts here are too rich even for me. Like the hot chocolate, it's literally just melted chocolate served as a drink. Very impressed with this place. Their frozen hot chocolate, the Not Hot, is pretty good. Not as decadent as Seredipity's, and certainly not as big (milk shake size), but hey, everyone's gotta have their on version. And of course, it's $6 instead of $9. We also got the dark chocolate fondue, which came with bananas, pound cake, marshmallows, pineapples, strawberries, and possibly one other item. That was my first time having fondue so it was quite nice. The chocolate flan was excellent, and it came with banana ice cream, which was also quite delicious. The triple layer pound cake was probably my favorite item. It was quite rich and while not as moist as it looked, I liked it nevertheless. Others got the spiced hot chocolate and paired with a couple of their ports, and the reviews for all of them were all pretty good. Yay! I'm a fan of The Chocolate Room. read more

For a Saturday night, it was expected to be packed. Luckily, they were able to accommodate our fairly large group. Yay! The desserts were amazing. I am very impressed. This place reminds me of another joint in Chicago (Wicker Park) so I was reminiscing with my friends about it. Meanwhile, as for service, it is like a cafe. What was important to me was that everyone had a great time. I enjoyed being in a great location (no matter what type of cuisine) with good friends, to sit back and enjoy. While you are at it, sip a little bit of hot chocolate. Hee! read more

While placing my order, I was briefly distracted by a phone call and accidentally said "white chocolate" instead of "milk chocolate." As soon as I realized the mistake--and knowing I'm allergic to white chocolate--I politely asked the sales associate if she could make it milk chocolate instead. I hadn't touched the cup, and it wasn't even handed to me yet. She looked at me as if I was asking for something unreasonable and told me I would have to pay for a whole new cup because it was "company policy." I asked to speak with a manager, hoping for some understanding, but what I got was a shockingly rude woman who immediately began raising her voice at me. She bluntly repeated that she would not make a new cup, even though I never picked up the original one and couldn't drink it due to my allergy. The unprofessionalism and lack of basic customer service were unbelievable. I was so frustrated and disappointed that I walked out and left the drink behind without receiving a refund or even an apology. I will never be returning to this Prince Soho location. The store manager was extremely rude, and the way the situation was handled was completely unacceptable. This used to be one of my favorite places, but after this experience, I'm done.

My friend also ordered a cup of clam chowder, which he thoroughly enjoyed. One of the best oyster HH spots I've come across, because it seems to be harder finding good ones lately. Would definitely come back to try the other seafood dishes.

Their cold brew has dark and rich notes of chocolate and almond, which couldn't be more fitting for a pastry and bake shop. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I try and make a point to grab a cup here. And while I've only been here a couple of times, the staff has been polite, and the coffee has been consistent - the latter being an issue for many shops. Baked doesn't try to be too cool or anything other than what it is. It's an unpretentious bake shop that offers a perfectly chilled cold brew that deserves to be savored with each sip and doesn't break the bank. It's worth making the trip even and I'll be doing so, even if I'm not exactly in the neighborhood.

It was fresh and had a homemade taste. The chocolate had a richness to it. I would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu like the sundae.
