I love this cute little house turned dessert destination on Redwood Rd. The cazookie is one of my favorite guilty pleasures, with two hot gooey cookies flavors baked together in a pan and topped with ice cream. Truly an out-of-body experience every time I eat one. They're probably sharing sized, but that never stands in my way! There is also a small but delicious selection of cookies, cakes, and mini cakes that make for great gifts or to celebrate special occasions. The layout and decor here is very quaint, with armchairs, couches, and small tables to sit at and bright artwork adorning the walls. The one negative in my mind is that it is almost always freezing inside, so I have to remember to bring a sweater. Without it, the cold temp detracts from the experience and forces me to not stay and relax as long as I'd like to at a place like this. read more

I came here on saturday at 9:50. They have three cookies a single brownie and a lemon mini cupcake left. I get that it is close to closing time but twenty six people came in after me. That means best case scenario they would only give a cazookie to twenty three of their customers. That is a lot of lost revenue. So the atmosphere is great and the space is great but the service was terrible. Attached is pictures of my table with a water spill that was there before I came in. The table next to me was left dirty and uncleared for over twenty minutes. There were people waiting for a table and they just left them sitting and standing in the front alcove. One couple gave up and just sat at the dirty table. When the waitress came by and dropped off their food she left the dirty dishes from the last couple there. I couldn't believe it. Then our food came and she put our food in the center of the water spill. Now I have a wet plate and if I want to eat it I have to put a wet plate on my lap. Now for the food. We got cazookies surprise right. They were ok. They were cooked perfectly but I can make better. I was underwhelmed. It's a good cookie but mine is better. It's a nice end to a date/dance night but over all the only reason to go is if it is late. read more

I have only ever tried their cake slices but I've never been disappointed with their desserts. What I love most is how every weekend they have a cake flavor they feature! My favorite that I've caught on limited edition flavors is carrot cake and their almond poppyseed flavors! I've also sampled their brownies which are very decadent - buy this if you truly love a rich fudgy brownie. The prices are mediocre for a dessert cake shop (around $7 dollars) and the scenery is like a cute little boutique type home feeling. read more

Chocolate is my weakness for sure. So when I saw a bakery named as such, I walked in without hesitation. The bakery is boutique like with couches and chairs to give it more of a living room coffee house feel. I loved that. Cherub; a milk chocolate based chocolate cake. It was extremely moist, chocolate-y and surprisingly not overwhelmingly sweet. We complemented it with ice cream as suggested.. it was perfect. Brooklyn blackout; dark chocolate ganache. Super rich and moist. The flavor was so rich that unfortunately we couldn't finish it, but it was super delightful regardless. Such a great concept--why not go into an old home, totally charm up the inside, and create a place where folks can come and get some serious sweets, sit at a table, a couch or a nook and enjoy themselves. Darling and adorbs, but not in a way you expect a Disney princess to pop out in costume; I more expected to find a dude in the back room strumming a guitar. The attraction here is the desserts. This is a sweets-only shop, with cakes, cookies, cupcakes, bars, and brownies for the browsing and consumption. Layer cakes a-plenty: chocolate on chocolate, vanilla on vanilla, chocolate on yellow, dark chocolate on chocolate, and that wildman red velvet. I went for the dark chocolate on chocolate "Brooklyn Blackout" and that piece of cake was my daddy. You might balk at paying $4.50 for a slice of cake, but you've got to man up to finish the thing. I ate it like 18 hours ago and I'm just now coming down off the sugar high. Serious cake. Tons of ganache. I also tried the vanilla cake, and had a little order envy. Vanilla ice cream was superb, and you can get a big tall glass of milk to wash it down. As a new place, they're still working out some kinks and trying to deal with the tiny kitchen size to make sure they have the right amount of food available every day, so come early to ensure the best selection. Once you've got your goods, there are three main areas to be seated--each ranging in amenity from armchairs, to pillowed nook, to ta table and couch back room. The dessert biz has gotten more competitive these days, especially with the onslaught of the cupcake. With the macaron charging forth as a new hotness (or so has been discusses on Yelp and in foodie circles) and lots of dessert options out there, I would love to see The Chocolate get more creative in its menu and offer a broader range of nummies, and some more creative nummies. Seasonal nummies like citrus+chocolate, nuts, dates, dried fruits in the winter; early berries in spring; garden-inspired, wild berried, summer nummies, and tree fruit, spiced, pumpkined fall goodies. This is, of course, my own feeling and they've got their own plans and could tell me to take the proverbial long walk off the proverbial short pier. And being new to the place, perhaps they already doing this and time will demonstrate it to me. Bottom line is, I'd like to see more on the menu and a constantly changing menu, 'cause I'd like to keep coming back and I want them to succeed. I love what's going on here. They've had a few months in this new West Jordan location (just off of Redwood, parking on the south of building, did I mention it's totally cute without being precious?) to work things out and now it's time this baby bird leaves the nest. I drive passed The Chocolate on a regular basis and I finally took the time to give this place a try. I really enjoyed the layout of the place. Once you walk in, the dessert selections are on the left and seating on the right. I like how they utilized all the space and have plenty of seating. I got the turtle cookie- it was good, nothing crazy and the infamous Cazookie (which if you're familiar with the chain restaurant BJ's brewery this is identical to the Pazookie) you choose 2 flavors- I got milk choco chip and white choco macadamia nut. The cookie came out nice and crispy on the edge and very soft in the middle, a little too soft for my liking. I found the ice cream to be too soft, as if it was sitting out. You can imagine the melted mess of vanilla ice cream atop the piping hot Cazookie. Overall, not impressed with the Cazookie. This is another house converted into a dessert place, but this one is in West Jordan! So it is within my playground. There is a big signboard at the side of the building, which you can see as you approach but it is still easy to miss. I guess it has to do with the natural color of the signboard, making it not prominent. They should change that to shocking red with glitters.. Walking in, the place was largely empty on that late Saturday afternoon, except a few customers queuing at the counter. So I should expect to be served in no time, right? No. This lady at the front almost had a fit because the chocolate chip cookies were sold out. Up to the point she was wondering how long it takes to bake a new batch. I mean, seriously. Starting to feel impatient aside, I wondered, how good is the chocolate chip cookies here for people's world to be crumbling down like that? The next customer couldn't make decisions on what to order. So she ordered almost everything at the counter and while they were packing her stuff out, she let out an unbelievable shriek because she did not see the snickerdoodles in display and missed ordering those. So you see, ordering here is an event by itself. Also a testament that people like the desserts here. For me, I went for The Cazookie ($7.59). It's two cookie doughs of choice baked together and topped with Vanilla bean ice-cream. The keyword here is 'cookie dough'. I love cookie dough to death, that if I were a Pharaoh, I'd have my body mummified beside cookie dough on papyrus. It was a no brainer choice. Anyway, the order came. I love the warm moist cookie dough (surprise!). I enjoyed the macadamia nuts half more than the peanut butter half. Mainly because the nuts reduce the sweetness and give more interesting texture. The cookie dough tastes heavenly with the melting ice cream. Except it is too big for me to finish in one seating. This is especially because I ordered the Gourmet Hot Chocolate ($3.50), which is also sweet. It is diluted though, not the tastiest Hot Chocolate I have ever had. It comes with a scoop of cream and glazed with chocolate syrup. So by the time I had half the Cazookies and half the Hot Chocolate, I was already in sugar coma. Coffee would have been a better beverage choice.. So if you order the Cazookies, plan to share it. Also note that it takes 15 minutes to bake, which gives you ample time to explore the seating area. There are multiple rooms with wooden table set or comfy modern sofa you can sit in. This would be a great place for groups to hang out or, you know, play hide and seek in. The "husband yellow cake" was BOMB.COM. It sounds so simple but yet it was so good I would travle miles to get this cake. The brownie was okay but honestly I would go back just for a slice of that cake any day. The staff was also very nice. This is one of my old time favorites. I used to work on the area and i used to stop by more often. Now i make special trips to come enjoy the taste cakes they have. My favorite cake is the Husband and i think the other one is called the Brooklyn. I also like their strawberry shortcake. The shop is very cute and has a cute atmosphere. Oh please let this just be a one off. The first time we tried this place it was delicious. Everything was...and we went there often. It's been about a year since the last time we have been there and I was really disappointed. We got sugar cookies and a dozen assorted mini cupcakes. The sugar cookies have completely changed from the last time. New recipe? Out of the traditional ingredients? Someone new making them? Not sure...but they went from the best sugar cookies I have ever had...to eh. The cupcake assortment was low...no full size left at all...only the minis. It was like they had been open for hours but we got there before noon. And even they tasted like a new recipe. The frosting wasn't flavorful at all...on any of them. This is one of my favorite dessert cafés! I love the cozy feel it has-it's literally a little house, so cute! Their desserts are very delicious too! The husband has got to be my favorite cake there. One by one, I looked at them. The Brooklyn Blackout called to me. Growing up in New York, I recall a Blackout Cake, so I had to try The Chocolate's version. It didn't disappoint.
