They recently opened a new location in The Otay Ranch area by Olympic Pkwy. The immediate downside is the price - starts $45 for a basic haircut, then up from there. There are places in the area of that location that give great cuts (barber shops) starting at $25. I get it though, people that live in the Otay area pay high mortgages, so they may have the extra income to pay that much for haircuts. That said, I'm not sure how long they will last unless they lower their prices. read more

I've been going to Aaron at The Chop Shop for years, and I honestly can't see myself trusting anyone else with my hair. He's the perfect combo of professional, personal, and consistent--always takes the time to listen to exactly how I want my cut and then nails it every single time. On top of that, his prices are super reasonable. I've been to other shops that charge way more for way less, but with Aaron, I always leave looking sharp and feeling like I should've tipped more (and usually do). The place looks like a nice professional stylish place from the outside but like most things...what looks good on the outside is not quality on the inside. The service was not what I expected at all. My child has had more quality cuts at the barber school off Euclid. The name fits the location best because they literally chop you up! They chopped my child's ears up! Not one but BOTH ears! Now I can see this happening from a kid that moved but mine is used to cuts and stays VERY STILL. Not to mention... not only his ears were chopped up but his hair was left a disaster! Even worse... none of the other barbers could fix the clown cut that was done and let him walk out bleeding and looking crazy! I decided to schedule my appointment with someone else because my usual barber was out of town. So I decided to schedule my appointment with one of the "barbers" named Chris there. And he did a 187 on my hair. I was met by him and all seemed normal. I asked him if he could give me a high skin taper with a swoop. He told me that wasn't possible. That the hair would have to be faded way to high past the swoop. At the very end he told me he could do it. I think it was just to shut me up. Once he was done, I could tell that my haircut didn't even look finished or professional. It looked dusty. Were the swoop is supposed to be isn't even proficiently edged in. When I asked him how come the fade didn't go any higher he proceeded to tell me that is as high as a high skin taper goes. And he refused to cut it again because it would then be a different haircut (medium skin fade). I just personally don't like when so called barbers pretend they know how to cut hair. And really just want to bamboozle someone to make a quick buck. Word to the wise, don't go with Chris! You will greatly regret it! Chop Shop Barber Shop same address with different name and look. Slow services. Low price. The employee Angel is banned from going to Mexico. Ruben is supposedly the manager yet this hell hole place. They try to play it off as good guys by using slang greeting terms, such as "whats up bro" and pounding the fists. It was actually pretty chill place with graffiti artwork on the walls, and football, which they cant even keep up with their satellite TV bills that most of the time the TVs are off. This place is not for children, the manager Ruben had allowed them to play foul language rap music, that in every 10 seconds you would hear some offensive words. You would think they would be considerate when families come in but they don't have a flipping idea about customer service. The fat mexican guy in the corner doesn't even like white guys and every time that I had visited this place he would be discriminating and then making foul white racial discrimination jokes. I didn't even do anything, but waited for my turn and ask for a hair cut. I left after waiting after a hour and then he even said "adios wedo". This racial slang is so offensive. I was going to go back in and ask to speak to his manager, immediately, but already know that this Ruben manager isn't the man that he suppose to be. This wasn't the only discrimination about race about white guys, but they also don't like Arabs or Samolin They should actually hire a receptionist and this place might run smoother. The Chop Shop is well named. The scalping I got can't be called a haircut. The "barber" gave no consideration to the traditional style with sides long enough to comb back and proceeded to buzz all the back and sides extremely short and unevenly with no fade at all leaving an obvious step on one side that can't be fixed in any way. The evident lack of training, experience and judgement shown on my visit is a warning that although walk ins are welcome, customers don't know what they are walking into. read more

Let me start off by saying, Abraham is hands down 100% the best barber I've ever had - and I've had a lot. He never disappoints and always goes above and beyond the average haircut. I had an important event to go to today, which was his off day. I texted him asking if he was working today and he wasn't. But he came in anyway. But about 15 minutes into my haircut the little boy starts screaming his lungs out, I was so annoyed!!!! I didn't have a good experience here. I needed a quick haircut and decided to give this place a try. Overall not my kind of barber shop. I told the barber what I wanted and he proceeded to tell me that I needed to go shorter. Mind you, I've had the same haircut for years. I told him thanks, but I'll go with what I asked for. The cut was average at best. What really got me was he cleaned me up with a straight razor, which i expected, but he didn't used any lather. He sprayed my neck and forehead with water and shaved that way. Needless to say I was totally nicked up. When the cut was over my hair was definately shorter than I wanted. So much for customer service. Good barbers are hard to find and I don't think you will find one in this place. This shop is not professional and the barbers need to have their straight razors taken away. It was a Sunday and I just happened to stop into the barber shop and met lenny. Great guy one of the better haircuts I've had in a while. He also wrapped my face with a warm/hot towel not too hot it was relaxing and then he used this machine to massage my head and face. I recommend him if you happen to be in Chula Vista. He also offered to wash my hair cut to make me feel even more fresh and clean but I had to go. Price isn't to high either for the services provided. read more
