The Church bar has a special place in my heart because it was the first place we all went after arriving in Dublin following several harrowing travel adventures from California. We finally sat down, got drinks, and looked at each other through jet-lagged eyes and said "You guys, we are HERE!". This place has awesome decor, friendly service, and a good happy hour special with cheap drinks. The history of this bar is amazing - you can imagine living back in the day. This place is pretty cool! My GF took me here and I thought the atmosphere of the place was awesome! The service was okay, they kinda gave my GF a bit of trouble when she was trying to order some wine, but we did get wine finally, and all was good after that. The food here was very delicious! The Church bar is a former Church that was converted into a restaurant/bar. Don't let the fact that it used to be a Church put you off. The place is pleasing to the eyes and I did not see a single thing that would qualify as tacky. The food is good but on the pricey side. That said, I have to talk about the service. I had a server called Valentine and the man is just about one of the best servers I have ever had the experience of dealing with. He is very charming and warm, a great conversationalist. The quality service he provided made the visit even more awesome. The dining area is located upstairs while the magnificent bar is downstairs. I wish I had time to check out the bar but I will save that for my next visit to Dublin. read more

Ok, so maybe a Saturday afternoon wasn't the best time to visit this place, but it was manic, waiters buzzing everywhere... Practically walking through you almost! I was on a dessert and coffee whilst my husband had a Guinness, he says it was top notch however my coffee was so average... Didn't finish it and dessert was a little stale! I hear it's a great night time spot so perhaps I'll give it a shot some night just for some drinking and mingling however for a mid-shopping rest, I think I'll go elsewhere... And as my tip on this business mentions, we had a super obnoxious waiter - epic fail, so that just got on my nerves! read more

Look, don't touch. It's nice and quirky but the service was awful. Awful. I've been here twice, the first time, we couldn't actually get a table so walked out, the second time it was close but we did get a dirty table, it was approximately 10 minutes before it was cleaned and our order was taken. The chips and potatoes arrived at the table first, then the meals one by one, then the drinks. A little backward. I had the steak sandwich, which was dry and had a lot of fat on it. The wraps looked very small and there was little appeal, colour or pizzaz on any of the plates. We had to ask twice for the first round order of a glass of wine. The second order was a double request for coffee. Locating the waiter was a task. Toilets...unisex, which I'm ok with, but no toilet paper in two, a dirty toilet and, no lock, my fifth effort was finally successful, I don't think I'd like to queue here if I was out for a night out. The wash-basin facilities were poor but at least, given the broken built in soap pumps, they had provided stand alone liquid soap. The trek down several stairs was epic, as was the trek back up. I'm glad I wasn't wearing heels, or tipsy! read more

This is a place that tries to be everything to everyone. There's a restaurant, a pub, and a night club all in the same building (Arthur Guinness was married there, while the place was still a real church). If you're looking for a cool spot for check out or to grab a pint or two, this is it. ive gone here many a time for lunch, when the weathers dry you can get a good feed outside through the bbq, usually its a cut of meat with sauce or a burger bun, and a roast potato, and theres a buffet with salad that you can fill up on, the salad options are tasty. The chefs at the bbq have alwalys been nice. It used to be for 10EUR, but recently its gone up 2 euros which is mad in this day and age. they also do a special for a tenner where you can get a wrap and soup of the day which is good value. the venue itself is impressive, however 90% of the staff are not, it seems like a combination of a chip on their shoulder/couldnt care less/looking down on you. one time i was there and saw a puddle on the floor, coming from health and safety training at work i said it to a member of staff and there wasnt even a word of thanks, they just went on with their business. ordering and getting food you face the same attitude from both waitors and staff supervising, the odd time you get a nice waitor but mostly its like being treated like your in a glorified mcdonalds where your in and out. it seems that most of their business comes froms tourists and they have a high turnover but a smile and a bit of eye contact wouldnt go a miss. i had enough of the attitude the last time i went & I wont be spending my money there again, everything is good apart from the attitude of most of the people working there. read more

I ate at The Church recently, and I would really recommend it! I had the burger while my friend had the lasagne, both of which were greatly presented and filling! We were both full half way through! We also stayed for some cocktails after dinner, on a Thursday there's are 2 FOR 1 !!!! They are also amazing cocktails, some of the best I've ever tasted and you know they are made well! I recommend the Church martini! The staff were brilliant, efficient and very friendly! The venue itself is extremely cool, we were sitting beside the baptismal font which we thought was so cool! It is an extremely unique place and so glad I went! If I was to bring a group of my friends visiting Dublin somewhere it would be here as you can expect great food, drinks and atmosphere! read more

The church really is a beautiful spot. Stunning place to sit and eat .. Can be a bit pricey for what it is if your gonna go whole hog and get a starter , main and dessert , but fir just a main it's fine . I got the beef and Guinness pie ! Amazing , the gravy in it us to die for ! .. Staff were lovely aswell although busy the restaurant upstairs was jammers at the time. But good time all round :) read more

The Church is a pretty good meeting point on the North Side. The nightclub is nice enough, but I'm not a big fan of the music they play and the atmosphere wasn't great, which is probably because the club was pretty empty both times I was there and that was at weekends. I do like the outside seating area though and have spent quite a few nights out there. It's great for groups if you can get a few tables to push together. The bartenders seem to love mixing drinks and every vodka martini I've had, came with a nice sideshow. Beware of the toilets though, the stairs are quite tricky after a few drinks and you really don't want to try and jump down because the ceiling is quite low as I found out the hard way. read more

The Church is worth a visit at least once for the building alone. Other than that, I found the food and service to be very impressive, although the price was a bit off-putting. We were using a Hi-Life Diners Club card when we were there, so it was a lot more affordable but I probably wouldn't return to pay full whack. read more

I went here for the sole purpose of having a typically Irish drink in a former church. Had the Baileys coffee, which to be honest was all right, but not more than that. The cream was nice, but the presentation a bit sad (two and a half coffee beans on top, boring glass... dunno, just could have been nicer) and the coffee itself was rather dull-tasting. But the service was very friendly, and the building itself is well worth a visit/look. It also probably looks nicer at night. read more

Fantastic music and atmosphere in this old church. The duet, playing some lively Irish music, was even joined every 3rd or 4th song by a pair of clomping, high kicking dancers. Great fun. If only the food was as good this place would merited a 5. Fish and chips were typical, but one of our party sent two servings back due to excessive bones. Skip the tortellini. read more

I feel two stars is a little generous, but based on the interior will hold off giving one. Inside the place looks nice, high ceilings, old interior, impressive at first glance. We went on a Saturday afternoon. Was busy, but the free tables were still filled with the previous diners left overs. Took a good while before anyone cleared the table, and another while before our order was taken. The food and drinks are really over priced, and the under whelming. Beer garden apparently nice.... though not sure I'll be giving it a chance. read more

Its a nice place to have a pint or two its not loud like the other pubs so youn can chat with your mates without shouting at each other. The place is massive aswell so you dont have to worry about squeezing everytime you buy a pint overall i liked it though its a lil bit pricey read more

Cool atmosphere, especially because it is where Arthur Guinness got married when it was a church. You definitely go on an adventure when you go to the restroom- all the way at the bottom of the building! A little more expensive than other bars and just over the river makes it hard to catch a bus. We probably would go back but it wouldn't be our number one choice. read more

Was here for a private function. Beautiful pub, poor layout. The bar is dead centre in the room & takes up so much of the floor space & obviously forces people out to the edges of the room which blocks the pathway in. The function we were at had a live band so obviously the crowd was trying to get close to the stage (which is at the front near the entrance) to see meaning the passages were even more blocked than usual. There's a lovely beer garden, plenty of toilets so never really a que & the drink seemed reasonably priced (for town), though that may just have been a special price as it was a beer launch we were attending! read more

It's a nice place in regards to the layout and the food is good. I also found the service to be good. But its very pricy for what you get. If it weren't for the price I'd probably give them 4 or 5 stars. I'll most likely go back to eat and drink here again. read more

I went here at lunch time having already eaten elsewhere, just because I wanted to check out the interiors. They seemed kind of taken aback that all we wanted were coffees, so I ended up ordering a muffin too. The inside of the place is very beautiful and cool, and feels kind of blasphemous in a funny way, but as far as the coffee and cake went there was nothing to write home about. I want to experience more of this place so that I can improve their review, but for now it's just an average. read more

Spectacular Pub, definitely recommend just going inside to check it out, hence the 3 star review. Its an old converted church and completely the decor utilises the full inside and downstairs into a night club and bathrooms. The bathrooms are the fanciest i've seen in dublin. I didn't go to the night club, but I could see it looks quite nice. The food looked good, but the beer was expensive enough and so just had my one pint at 6.30€! They have great outdoor area for smoking or for functions too (when I was there they had a 4th of july american event going on). It's a shame its super expensive! read more

This place is so appealing from the outside, with the really strange winding glass tube! Slightly odd that it used to be a church, but you get over it once you step inside. The main bar is in the centre and is very long, with lots of table booths surrounding it. The washrooms are really weird because the womens and mens are connected but separated at the same time. Like, it's one big washroom but sectioned off into womens and mens. Hard to explain, you'll have to see for yourself! The cocktails here are really good, and like everyone else has said on this page, it really does remind you of a cosmopolitan-sex-and-the-city-style bar. It's gorgeously stylish, well-maintained and wonderfully decorated. The music is typically pop, but open to requests, and there's a dance floor downstairs. read more

Nice place to have something to eat and a drink. First time I've ever had fish and chips and even a pint inside an actual church. The prices are higher than most places, but it's a classy-er place to spend the evening. Nice outside area with gas heaters where you can have a smoke while enjoying your plate. Good place to take the older folk or for couples looking to have a bit of a quiet time. read more

This is a beautiful bar, restaurant and club in an old church... It has been completely renovated but most of the original details are still present, like the church organ and stained-glass windows... The food served is quite good on the lower level, where the bar is. On the second level, which you reach by a winding stairs, encased in glass, from street level (nice detail: on the stairs you can dine at a table for two!) you can eat the more fancy (and thus more expensive) foods. In the bar, the atmosphere is sophisticated (although the public not always is...) and the cocktails and drinks are excellent. read more
