The absolute worst apartments I have lived in. You are paying money for low quality, non functioning housing. The apartment falls apart every month. We had broken doors, cabinets falling off of it's hinges, remotes don't work, shudders completely broke, roaches, front door broken, horrible key... you name the flaw, this apartment has it. This apartment is extremely, extremely, low quality. Looks are so deceiving. We had a non functioning fridge for almost three months. In that time, maintenance was called almost 4 times and the worker would proceed to come over, blame us, and then bark profanities while doing his own job. He never solved the problem, if anything he made it worse. They refused to reimburse us for rent wasted on non functioning utilities and would not give us a new fridge until constantly bugged by us. This problem remains to this day. Additionally, the worker would make an absolute mess when trying to fix something, and would leave it. Also, some of the workers made jokes about us when in our apartment. The gate keys do not work all the time. They break every single month and prevent you from enetering the gates. One time, we were locked out and upon calling the office they refused us. The exit gate breaks regularly, and keys stop working preventing you from entering the apartment when necessary. This is not a safe area to be locked. The man upon calling said to us "wait a bit and try again". Mind you, we are young women and it was 10 pm. Also, the gate breaks regularly at night when they aren't here to help. They come into work very late and leave very early. The keys to the mailbox also don't work. The mailbox has no order, and we were constantly losing/unable to get out mail. They are no help with this problem. Our front door does not open and our front door key has broken multiple times. Upon moving in, there were stains and problems within the apartment that they tried to blame on us. Regularly we were blamed for issues with this space. In addition to this, the water in the shower took on average five minutes if ever to warm up. We are paying a hand and a foot for heating. The toilet does not flush. The toilet does not flush. The toilet does not flush. I can't repeat this enough, the toilet does not flush. We pay so much money for utilities and our water does not heat and the toilet does not flush. We called maintenance to fix it. He fixed it. Happy May; THE TOILET DOES NOT FLUSH. There is no central heating or cooling. But thankfully, they give fans that are remote controlled. THE REMOTES DO NOT WORK. THE REMOTES DO WORK. There are literally, three outlets in the apartment living space extremely far apart. We legitimately had maintenance over more than guests. The plumbing is ridiculous, nothing you pay for works. But even worse, is the constant renovations happening here that are beyond disruptive and prevent you from repeating the benefits of your own rent. Water was shut off constantly, the gym was closed once a month for days on end, and we were constantly prevented from our ONE parking space. No, there is not a lot of street parking. They will lie and tell you there is. The laundry rooms are not the cleanest, the walls are extremely thin, the dryers do not work, and the washers are so expensive with additional charges based on changing temp or time. Everything is all out of pocket pay in addition to utilities and rent. When you pay utilities and rent, you pay for the use of everyone, not just your own. Rent is so fluctuating. You never can expect how much you're paying every month. This apartment looks so nice, and is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. We have no intention of speaking ill where it is not necessary. Our money has been completely wasted and disrespected. We feel robbed and lied to. However, the one singular good thing about this place is Jamie in the office. He is probably one of the kindest people you will ever meet. When we had problems, they weren't by anyone but when Jamie was in the office, they were fixed in a timely manner if not immediately. Jamie was compassionate all the time and literally ran in the rain to help us get in the gate immediately after answering our call. He always smiled, and talked directly to us kindly, while other office members would talk to him about us privately but in front of our faces. Old Reviews aren't always helpful. We just moved in here a couple months ago and we love it. It's so peaceful and clean! The roach part, I feel as if you're not cleaning your place or maintaining it some what clean you will definitely find some .. it's Long Beach. I have not yet seen a roach in my place and if I did it was the first day but, it could be due to the previous renters. We called the office and spoke to the community director Crystal and she took care of it and fixed the problem the following day. Ever since I have not seen any. Being clean should already be a part of you. They have maintenance on site so if we place a ticket they help us right away too. Unlike other apartments you have to call the company and they take care of the issue a month later. Not here they take care of it ASAP. My husband was also having some parking issues with his car and after I spoke to crystal about this matter within minutes she solved his issue. She's amazing and so helpful! I've been living here for over 2 years now, and it's been such a great experience. A great place for kids, families and students. Most importantly, the management, specifically, Crystal Day (Community Director), who goes above and beyond to make sure any service requests are met, she is very friendly and professional. We recently moved out of here because of the increased prices and charges. We've lived here for two years and there is still a bad cockroach problem. The Circle Apartments single-handedly made my college experience worse. Between the excessive water shut offs, cockroach infested apartments and unprofessional staff, I would NOT recommend anyone living here for their own peace of mind. I transferred to CSULB not knowing the area, and after touring the apartments I thought it would be a good fit since it was so close to the traffic circle. Stupid me, I even didn't read the reviews before moving in. The Circle Apartments, formerly known as Alvista Long Beach, had TERRIBLE reviews. So many people complained about the parking, cockroaches, and how rude the community director, Crystal Day, is. All of this is still true, which is why they had to change management and re-brand themselves. Problem is, they still suck. Their front office staff is slow to resolve tenant issues and quick to blow up on their customers. Crystal made me feel anxious and uncomfortable every day living there, and I'm so relieved I moved out. There have been countless times when I would bring up an issue to the leasing office and they would take forever to get back to me or forget about the issue entirely. Hell, they don't even pick up their phone most of the time. There was a specific instance when I bought up an unknown charge on my account to Crystal, and she screamed at me claiming she was "not going to play my game." I don't know what game she is talking about, but she obviously takes her job as a joke if she is going to scream at a customer. Parking here is a nightmare. I lived here for only seven months and have gotten my car towed twice, two street sweeping parking tickets and a hit-and-run when my car was parked on the street. Can you imagine how much stress this caused, especially for a college student? The Circle Apartments only gives you 1 parking spot, and you can't even pay for another spot because they have too many tenants. The staff and AMC Management will not help you even when they work directly with Mr. C's Towing, so good luck paying your $300 tow fee. Water shut-offs happened at least twice a week and they would shut off the water at the most inconvenient times. I would wake up and need to brush my teeth before class, but I couldn't because they would shut-off the water. Most of the time, the water wouldn't even turn back on during the time listed on the flyer. One time when I was showering, the water suddenly turned off mid-shower. I had to go downstairs and grab the Brita filter to wash off the shampoo from my hair. I will never forgive this place for the damage they inflicted on my college experience. Shame on The Circle Apartments for even operating. Please, for anyone even considering on living here, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE because there are so many other apartment complexes and houses for rent that actually care about their customers!! read more

My father and mother lived here for three years. Before my dad died I'd go visit and help every other day if I could. I'm gonna start by saying if you're thinking about moving into this place I would think again. When you first meet the staff they are very helpful and cheerful. That changes once you sign the lease. From first sight and the way they walk you in to look at the apartments, it looks great (from the outside). DONT LET THEM FOOL YOU! I was really trying not to go down hard on this place. But if it was me moving in there I would love to have somebody like me telling me before I sign a year lease. Their incentives sound great, when they left it was two months free rent. That's awesome, let me get down to the nitty-gritty. There is black mold that accumulates within the walls and comes out through the paint. On top of that there is a huge infestation of cockroaches in the buildings. They think they're doing their part by calling a pest guy to come in and some gel around the sink and bathroom areas in the closet. That will not help. The roaches are everywhere. They come out at night they crawl all over your silverware your cookware. This has been reported to them and they have acknowledged it and do nothing about it. Since Management changed two years ago it's gone nothing but downhill. They have you go online and fill out a service form,It's hardly acknowledged. And due to Covid they make you exit your apartment if any work is being done. One plus it was a dog friendly place. My dad had a service animal which the management deemed aggressive although he was a service animal that was certified with the state of California. They jump the gun due to the breed. They made my disabled father jump through hoops and they threatened eviction. They will do anything and everything to get you in and sign a lease, once you're sucked in to the black hole. You are screwed. This is a simple public awareness. Think again before you move in here. If they take you into a new apartment, ask them to move the refrigerator from where it sits or open up the drawers under the sink and look for cockroaches. You will find them big and small. And when you move all your stuff in that's when they really come. It is disgusting and unhealthy and has a huge health risk to everybody. Be aware, contact your local Health department in Long Beach and ask them how many complaints they've received over everything that I am stating. It is all true facts. See pictures of just a few of the cockroaches I took pictures of when I moved my parents out. They're everywhere along with the black mold. And lastly the electrical inside the buildings on a scale of 1 to 10 is a three. The maintenance man was severely injured by electrocution trying to fix the tenants electrical issue. The management covered it up and said he is on vacation. But he is sitting in the hospital with serious injuries and a fire was started inside an apartment. This management group is taking the money and where it's going is beyond me. The outside looks amazing but like I said the inner workings of this apartment is at Best slumlord ran. Was shown the model then the apt that i was supposed to be getting. Everything went well, until they decided my unit needed maintenance and i should take the "upgraded" unit 2 doors down. I get there with my belongings and guess what? The unit is anything but upgraded. It had new flooring THATS it. No new paint, cracks in the walls and ceiling. Cracks in the caulking around the tub. Old vanity. Where is the the upgrade? Then gave excuses as to this the only unit available unless i want to PAY MORE MONEY for another available unit. Live "Happy"? Living here has made me anything but happy. Don't fall into their false marketing. Their customer service, living space and professionalism is so unbelievably unacceptable that no person should have to experience such a stressful living situation. First, their customer service. Crystal Day, the community director, is quick to yell at her residents even if they have the simplest inquiry. For example, I came in to ask her a question about my bill. After reviewing the situation, she started yelling "HERE'S WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. YOU WILL PAY THESE CHARGES AND I'M NOT PLAYING WITH YOU." This was beyond rude. Crystal, if you have some anger management issues that you haven't dealt with, maybe reconsider a job in customer service because you're honestly terrible at it. Second, their living space. The walls are so thin that you can hear when your neighbor gets a text message and every conversation they have on the phone. You only get 1 pakring spot so expect to either get towed, ticketed when there's street sweeping (2 days out of the week) or experience a hit-and-run when parking on the street. Cockroaches and yellow smelly water are a norm here. During our move-in day, we found several dead and alive cockroaches in our rooms, kitchen counters, microwave, stove, cabinets, living room and bathrooms. It took about two fumigations to get rid of the dirty insects that infested the place. The Circle Apartments are so unsanitary that it should be a health hazard living here. Worst of all, the water is a yellow hue and it smells like rotten eggs everytime you turn it on. Disgusting. Lastly, their professionalism. They will unexpectedly charge you for a bill without telling you and still expect you to pay for it. How, you may ask? By going to the leasing office and asking about a bill you have no idea exists. Super logical! If you file a noise complaint about partying college students, they won't actually do anything about it and the noise will continue. Living in peace here is basically impossible. They also have water shut-offs almost every week for serveral hours so don't expect to consistently shower, wash your hands or fill up your Brita filter when living here. It is pathetic that an apartment company like this exists. They treat their residents like nothing except walking atm machines. The management has not done enough to train their employees to behave in a professional manner. There are so many other apartments you can spend your money on where you can actually be happy. Ignore the old/bad reviews.. This place was a great college experience! I lived here for 3 years and I highly recommend it! There is new owners of the place and they are upgrading the place like crazy! You should get in now before the rent prices match what you are getting. I'm honestly pretty bummed I moved out but when I did they made the process painless. Ask for Crystal, she is a awesome manager! People are going to have problems anywhere they live but if this place is in your budget, don't hesitate... this is the place to live. Also about the roaches everyone is talking about... This is long beach... you will randomly run into a roach going to the store. I think they are gross but as long as your not a huge slob, you won't get roaches in your place. I have lived in the circle apartments for 3 years. Words cannot describe how amazing of a place it's been for me. Crystal the manager took care of everything and always had my back. She represents everything a true leader should be like. Maintenance always got the job done quickly the moment I needed something repaired. The location is perfect. Right next to places like Vons, Starbucks, Panda Express, etc. I never had to drive to get groceries. It's a 10 second walk. The beach is only like a ten minute drive away. I am so sad to leave, because I got a job opportunity in another city, but I am hopeful I can one day come back. We have lived here through 3 owners. Since AMC took over. We are NOT allowed to have a charcoal bbq (Fire Hazard?)on our patio that we pay for. We have to share 4 of the permanent gas bbq's(Constant gas line?) (2 don't work) with roughly 400 other residents. Our water is shut off constantly without 24hr notice and beyond time we are told. Imagine coming home from work, school, with your child (who is on the Autism Spectrum) and they are not able to shower or use the bathroom until 8pm-12am(Child's bedtime is 8pThe staff leaves at 5-6. Crystal is helpful. AMC is horrible. They do not provide any assistance. My Lawyer will be contacting them soon. I will keep you posted. To keep people and their children from having a restroom and shower on multiple occasions is wrong. They want coming home to be "The best part of our day" It's more like a nightmare and bs I am coming home to. Shame on you. FIX IT! All of the maintenance staff here are wonderful but I want to give a special shout out to Sam. Whenever my husband or I place a maintence request, he is extremely prompt in attending to our needs. We have needed a few things worked on inside our apartment and he always comes with a smile on his face. He has been very helpful and remains positive even when faced with challenges, like our heater that needed to be fixed when we first moved in. He didn't give up until the issue was completely fixed and it wasn't easy - it took at least about 45 minutes of his time. He is incredible! Thanks so much Sam! Every sense we have moved in he has listened to all of our needs and has been very helpful with every thing and talks us through every procedure that needs to be done. He is the best !
