On the outside it's a big silver diner. Looks smaller than it is. Inside there is a good amount of seating and it's not small. Parking is right out front. We sat and ordered pretty quick. I got the chicken noodle soup and salad. Kathy got the Greek salad with chicken. We both got the Greek dressing. The chicken noodle was homemade with plenty of big carrots, celery, egg noodles and a bit of chicken. It was good. Could have used a bit more chicken but it was full of veggies and tasted good. Plus it was hot. Love it. Salad came and it was a decent size. Also lots of veggies. It was just enough food. And the price was great under $8. The Greek salad could have been a bit larger. I thought it looked a bit skimpy. But Kathy got a whole chicken breast cut up. She sub's out the gyro meat. Again dressing was homemade and really good. The desserts looked super good but we did not partake. The menu is good with Bfast, lunch, dinners. Everything from burgers, sandwiches, pasta. Lots to choose from and prices are decent. She tried to get me to try the chicken but I didn't want to get sick. It smelled like industrial cleaner. The waitress was nice and my daughter got either the pot roast or roast beef. Went here before going to the zoo and WOW! I was not expecting my breakfast quesadilla to be SO big but it was also so delicious! My husband got the biscuits and gravy which he loved and our son got the kids pancake (shaped like Mickey). They both ate everything. The servers were all so nice and friendly. pulled into a very scant parking lot but found one spot, just for me. Tried this restaurant on a whim since i dine out 4-5 times a week and am always looking for decent places to try. This little gem is a diamond waiting for its tiara!! Walked in, seated by Ashley, served by Ashley, tallied out by Ashley. Wonder if she cooks too. Place was pretty empty for high noon. Dont know why. They are a server of breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu large enough you have to hold it up and pages enough it takes forever to choose. The choices are endless just like an old fashioned diner should be and this steel diner is right on point. I eventually decided to combine breakfast with lunch since i was having serious trouble deciding (dinner and pastas were out until 2 PM so that eliminated a page of reading!). Ashley took my order and asked so many questions, i just knew i was gonna get the perfect meal for todays outing. I asked for the chopped sirloin with oven roasted potatoed, rye toast and two eggs BASTED. She had no idea what that meant but when i said i had been eating my eggs that way for forty yrs and all chefs know how to make them, she put the order in. Took quite a bit longer than i thought for my plate to arrive but oh so worth the wait. Presented nicely with the most perfectly BASTED eggs i have ever received. Sirloin burger perfectly but a little oozy greasy. Rye toast was seeded, hot, sliced thick and buttered. And the diced what i call roasted potatoes were done crisp browned to perfection with soft insides. The portions of all was large enough for this diner to take half home for later today. Ashley must have checked back in with me 15 times, i stopped counting. I was served, refreshed often, checked on, and cajoled with this employee who seems to know her job and LOVES IT along with knowing how to run this entire establishment. She apparently works another job and since I know where she is, i will visit that restaurant as well just to be taken care of by the finest server i have met in quite some time. My two stars is not about the food. It is good. The service was good. But you pay when leaving, and if they don't see that you paid, perhaps you used the rest room after paying, one of the workers might run out after you, to make sure you paid. Then not apologize. Perhaps change the system so the customer pays the server and they make sure you pay. Disappointed. I normally like supporting these small businesses. read more

I've been visiting this diner since they reopened under new ownership in 2023 (I think?). I love the small-town feel of this place! The staff are all friendly and helpful. They recently printed a new menu, but I think it has the same items on it. Just in a multiple page format instead of 1 large menu. The food is sometimes a bit greasy, but if you order a greasy dish, it shouldn't be a surprise! I've had breakfast, sandwiches, and entrees here, and they are all amazing! They accommodate special requests well! Their dessert case has always caught my eye, and I finally splurged and ordered a slice of cheesecake for Valentines Day! It did not disappoint! Definitely recommend! My only request would be that they get better coffee. It tends to be weak/ watery. But for a cheaper diner, I understand that you get what you get. I waited for the novelty to wear down so I could try this place out. My friend and I decided to come here with her daughter. Her daughter got the kids chicken strip meal and my friend had them add an extra chicken strip. My friend and I split a old fashioned burger, I got house potatoes in lieu of fries. The fries on the kids meal were very crispy and looked good. The burger and potatoes were very good. The chicken strips got a thumbs up. The waitress was really friendly. I only gave 4 stars because the food took a minute to come out. Otherwise we had a very good experience. I would come back again when it's not busy. We got lucky and found a parking spot. I did an internet search for somewhere different and this popped up for the first time. Apparently this closed down for a little while and reopened under new management. We were greeted upon entering g the restaurant and was seated right away. There is a great selection for everyone on the menu. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, no cheese along with a side salad. To my surprise the side salad was a nice size. It even had peppers in it so it wasn't just a standard salad. My food came with cheese unfortunately. The waitress admitted it was her mistake and left the spaghetti for me to eat while they remade the Chicken Parmesan. This way I wouldn't have to eat alone or cold food. The food took a little bit but since I was with great company talking the time flew by. The waitress at one point even came by to check on us and see if we needed anything because she was going to take a break. I thought was very nice since she could've not said anything then we could've left been left just sitting there, wondering where she was at. When the rest of my food came out it was worth the wait. It was so juicy and tender. A must have If you like chicken Parmesan. All of the staff was very friendly. A little downfall is when you pay attention to the music the speakers are bad. Again, I heard it only a little bit due to being involved in conversations. The food is very filling and delicious. You get your monies worth going here. I stumbled upon the city diner and thought I would stop in. It was breakfast time, but they let me have lunch. I ordered the burger melt with mushrooms and Swiss. Kind of like a patty melt but better. They give you a choice of 1/3 pound pound burger or 1/2 pound 1/3 pound looked so big to me. I can't imagine getting a half! It was so delicious. Been there once about a month ago. Staff was great. Overly pleasant. Booths are too narrow. If you were taking a bite of your food at the same time as the person across from you, you're almost budding heads. Def not opening a menu at the same time without touching each other. I had breakfast. The toast was good. My hash browns looked nothing like the pics I've seen from other patrons. Mine were like mashed potatoes that were fried on a griddle. I told the family I wouldn't come back just based on the hashbrowns but now seeing the pictures, I wonder what was served to me? Toast was good though. :) gyro is average. not great. My husband, daughter, and I LOVE going to the City Diner. It is such an incredible place to take families. Every Saturday, they have a kind man who makes balloon art for kids. Today, he made our daughter a bunny. The staff goes absolutely above and beyond to make sure we feel welcome and that our daughter is happy. It literally and metaphorically feels like you're at someone's home and they're all serving you - truly a sweet family establishment. Hala, Khloe, Jana, Q, Jersey, Brittney, and I know we're forgetting some, but you're all amazing. We love classic diner food and it's so delicious! Great neighborhood spot for any kind of diner meal, and worth traveling for also. Went with two other friends, and we enjoyed breakfast with eggs and homemade corned beef hash, which was wonderful. My friend loved the salad she ordered. In the past we've enjoyed other breakfast items and burgers, but the menu is fairly extensive with some appetizing entrees. Service was friendly and the bill was reasonable. Will continue to meet my friends there in the future, as we're very happy with this place. Had a large group come here before heading to the Christmas lights at the zoo. Total old- school feel that is comfortable and homey. Service was friendly and fast! We ordered a ton of burgers that were so good as well as a shared appetizer plate with mozzarella sticks, potato skins and onion rings. Everything was delicious but the onion rings were amazing! After everything was considered, the bill came to $19.90! For 2 cokes and a piece of cake!?!?! The cake was merely passable. it was warm ... not heated, but room temp and was stale.
