The Claim Company is a solid place to grab some good comfort food. Yes, they have a bit more of a "bar" menu but everything has a more-upscale twist on it. Plus, the food is great! We came in for a family dinner on a cold winter evening and were greeted with warmth that lasted throughout the meal. The service was on point and the food followed suit. Since there were six of us we each had something different - for me, the meatloaf. It really hit the spot and I practically licked the plate afterword! Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. The dining room itself has plenty of tables but they are not crammed into the space, giving a more open feel. Plus, it's nicely lit and not overly noisy. I'm not sure on this one too be honest. The menu claims to have the "Famous Motherlode Burgers" ... they were not anything special. The homemade chips though. That was a hit! Not fond of all of the types of onions. I chose fried onions and thought they would be sauted, but they were more onion strings type. Yes, my misunderstanding and for that I didn't enjoy the onions as much. In addition, didn't appear the burgers were fresh to order and I asked for my burger to be some pink, it was cooked through. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. The wait time was only because there was no one at the front when we walked in. Although, it wasn't long at all. I came here with my husband and in-laws and was impressed, especially because I had never heard of this place before. When we walked in, thankfully, we had a reservation because it was EXTREMELY busy and we had 7 people in our party. Since the place is pretty small, everyone was crowding around the front counter and everyone waiting was getting frustrated and annoyed. Luckily for us, we told them our reservation name, walked right through everyone, and sat down. We love that for us. Upon sitting down, we had a nice waiter who was attentive to our large group during our whole experience. For appetizers, we ordered the nachos ($12.99) and buffalo wings ($13.99). The nachos were very underwhelming, as they were just chips with shredded cheese melted on them. They reminded me of when I was young and would put shredded cheese on tortilla chips and then heat it in the microwave. It looked and tasted just like this. On the other hand, the buffalo wings were great and had good texture and flavor. For dinner, we each ordered something different, so I will only be reviewing my food. I ordered the Spinach and Mushroom Quesadilla ($12.99) and this was delicious. Both the spinach and mushrooms were fresh and real which is a plus because I feel like many places use canned mushrooms for meals like this. I would order this again, but I ordered a baked potato ($4.45) for a side, and this was not good. It was hard, undercooked, and didn't even come with anything on it. I only got butter on the side. Overall, I would come back here again, but I would also like to try other menu items. I am not a big burger person, but they are known for their build-your-own-burgers. My husband ended up ordering this and he did enjoy his food, too. There are plenty of unique choices and it really does become a personalized meal option because you choose your protein, bread, cheese, toppings, and sauces. It's mostly my fault. I should have looked closer at their branding and reviews. If the main thing everyone focuses on is the burger, get the burger. Don't get the ahi tuna entree, and don't get the buffalo chicken sliders. We stopped in when we were up north for the botanical garden after looking up restaurants with healthy options. Yes they have ahi tuna; no it is clearly not their specialty. The ahi tasted like -- and I cannot stress this enough -- nothing. The buffalo chicken sliders bore a textural resemblance to what I recall chicken mcnuggets being like: That chemistry-defying foam-like quality, petrified into a solid. Which is to say, it's cheap kids food, and we should not have ordered it. On the way to and from the restroom, I noticed that everyone else had burgers, and they looked good. People seemed happy. The women's room smelled like an actual sewer. Service was pleasant and fast. Screens with sports everywhere, but up high and not with the volume on, so you can watch if you want but not be forced to watch. I'm saddened by how small The Claim Company restaurant has become. They used to be in a bigger location at Northbrook Court (where Di Pescara is currently located). They then downsized and moved to their current location in a small-ish space off Dundee and Skokie Boulevard. Regardless of the size of the place, the food is still as good as it was when I was growing up. The Motherlode, their signature build your own burger is still one of the best burgers around. They have a terrific skirt steak sandwich on garlic bread, and wonderful salads (sorry, they removed their awesome salad bar years ago). Regardless, their food has always been good. They also had a location in Vernon Hills that they closed, reopened, and rebranded, now called Wick n' Ore. One other thing they are known for is how they treat you. And they treat you right. They have provided food and impeccable service at fundraising events and are willing to help out their community. The restaurant's staff is always friendly, welcoming, and always offering to help you select the right dish for that perfect meal. I can honestly say that whether you're visiting for their mouthwatering Motherlode burgers or another savory dish, or a crisp salad, Claim Company or Wick n' Ore are great choices any day or night of the week. read more

My wife and I stopped by The Claim Company on Monday night as were in the mood for a burger. I can't speak to the salads, wraps, fajitas, or other items on the menu, but we both thought the burgers were very good. They were cooked the way we asked and really hit the spot. I went with the "NBK Spicy BBQ, Bacon, & Cheddar Burger". It was marked with a pepper to indicate it was spicy but I don't think it was at all. My wife chose the option to create her own burger and chose the Prime Beef, Brioche Bun, Bleu Cheese, Herb Garlic Mayo, and topped it with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and avocado. We also tried out a couple of drinks - The Claim Kicker (Vodka, Triple Sec & Lemonade) and the House Margarita (a Monday special). They were both pretty good. We finished the evening with a Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie dessert which was delicious. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Let's start with I was surprised by where it was located. I have not been there in years and I was heading over to Northbrook Court. I didn't realize it was further east. So we got to the new place. And I liked it. I have to say they have some of the best burgers that you decide what you want on it. I usually eat half a burger and I ended up eating the whole thing. They gave cottage fries with it. I thought they meant waffle fries. I liked What came better. They were homemade potato chips. Order the garlic mayo for your hamburger. Then use it as dip for your chips. I gave minus one star. It just seems to me that being a server was not the right profession for Deb. I definitely would return. We'd eaten at theClaim Company for decades, in location to location. The food has been consistent - and their "Motherlode" is one of the best burgers served anywhere. Today, mine was perfectly cooked and everything was delicious. Our service was great - friendly and efficient. Everyone hustled and they checked back on us several times. The location is bright and cheery and the seating was comfortable. This is a good choice when you have a group and everyone wants different things. I had a portobello mushroom "burger" without the bun and some excellent sweet potato fries (they were so good)! Others in our party had French onion soup, bison burger, and Italian beef. We were seated quickly and service was great. I opted for a build your own motherlode burger on a pretzel bun with tons of toppings and sauces. I was particularly happy to see that avocado, bacon, and crispy fried onions were NOT an additional charge. I chose herb garlic mayo and spicy Dijon aioli as my dipping sauces. I came here for a late lunch/early dinner while shopping in the area. They have a patio but we opted to dine indoors with the AC. We were immediately greeted and got our drinks. I didn't want anything too heavy so I opted for the chicken wings. I was told that the Buffalo sauce was on my spicier side so I was a bit hesitant but my server offered to have the different sauces on the side so I can try them all and I didn't have to decide on one to coat all the wings. I also got the sweet potato fries with a side of honey mustard. If you haven't had sweet potatoes and honey mustard, you must! It's an amazing combo! Overall, the service and atmosphere were great! We were surprised at how packed it was for a Monday night and excited to try the food given the wait time and the crowd. However, the food was lackluster. My friends and I were looking for a new place to try burgers at for dinner, and came across the Claim Company on Yelp. There were 5 of us, and we didn't have a reservation. We came in around 7ish on a Sunday and we were seated pretty quickly. We started with the Potato skins and it came with 5 pieces so it worked out beautifully so that we could all have a piece. :) The burger was outstanding, I had a beef patty with the herb garlic Mayo and that was delicious. My husband has the pot roast and said it was great, and that it was a hefty portion. My friend and I had a margarita each, I had strawberry and she had pomegranate. Both of which were delicious, if we weren't so full from dinner we probably would've enjoyed a few more! Overall, the Claim Company had a great atmosphere! They're turkey burger is by far the best I've ever tasted. It's priced well and enormous. It comes with sides and a large potato. The food is always cooked correctly and always made well. With indoor and outdoor dining nullified by the pandemic and chilly weather, our favorite design-your-own-burger joint pivoted to carryout service. One of Claim Company's email promotions was for a Monday night "Rib Deal"--a full slab of baby back ribs with cottage chips and a small coleslaw for $14.99. We've never had their ribs before. I attempted to place an order online but the menu showed only the regular $21.99 price, so we had to phone in our order. I provided my credit card info over the phone. They said it would take between 30 and 45 minutes, but our food was ready for pickup in under 30 minutes. The ribs, while not quite competition caliber, were really very good and we wouldn't hesitate to order them again. Meaty and tender but not quite fall-off-the-bone. The right amount of smoke and a first-rate BBQ sauce. The accompanying house-made chips and slaw were just fine. Considering that many restaurants charge upwards of $25 for a full slab, this was a terrific deal. So, why 4 stars and not 5? When dining out I habitually review the check before paying, but having prepaid this carryout, I didn't happen to glance at the receipt until after dinner. Yipes! They charged $14.99 for just one "deal" and then the regular $21.99 menu price for the second meal. I promptly emailed the restaurant. Northbrook Court is a "dead mall" and although a smaller restaurant, it doesn't bring in the "mall people" aka zombies. Now, back to the review. This is kind of a neighborhood third place located in a mall. The food is average. I like their spinach quesadilla to nosh on while have their $5 margarita on a Friday or Saturday - it's a small okay margarita that is most likely made with mix. On Tuesday's I'm a fan of their $5 martinis...they are much better than their margaritas! We might share a plate of nachos with them. The pretzel bites are nice too. I loved loved loved this place. The burger was HUGE and obviously made to order because you pick your toppings. It was quite filling on its own. And I def recommend the garlic Mayo. It was heavy on the herbs which made it so much better and ended up being great as a fry dipping sauce too. I loved it with my sweet potato fries. Those fries were fresh and pretty sure they were made in the restaurant. Delightful meal. We also got the blackened steak wrap and it was enough for 2 people! Yummy yummy yummy. Can't go wrong. We got a side of fruit with it and it was fresh! Which is hard to believe because you always get over ripe fruit when it comes as a side at other restaurants.
