Vegans, it's time to celebrate! Eggspresso recently added three vegan items to their menu: crepes, pancakes, and waffles! Today, I visited for the very first time to try one of their vegan options. I arrived around 7:15 on a Thursday morning, and it wasn't busy at all. My friend and I were able to choose a cozy booth by the window. (By the time we left at 9:00, quite a few booths were filled!) The service was great, and our food came out quickly! The vegan waffle was generously sized and made fresh in the kitchen. It had the perfect texture--a little crispy on the outside, yet warm and chewy on the inside. There was just a hint of sweetness, so I hardly needed any maple syrup. The decor is very cool--I absolutely love the color scheme! Even the restroom was charming. When I walked in, I noticed a sign on the wall that said, "Hello Beautiful." Although it's a small detail, I also appreciated that the trash bin was placed directly beneath the paper towel dispenser and right next to the door. Service was fast but disconnected. Almost felt as I was an inconvenience. Unfortunately the smell inside was a little overpowering. It smelled of body odor. I will day the food was not bad. Orange juice was fresh, they give you a healthy portion of eggs. Ham off the bone was good and my wife loved the yogurt and berries. Love that I can have cottage cheese on the side. I went for an early weekend breakfast at Eggspresso. It was my first time there. The space is large and bright. Our server was attentive and the food came out fairly quickly. The menu is large. We liked that there were healthier options and that cottage cheese was one of the sides. The food was ok overall. The hollandaise wasn't up to our standards and the fruit side only had four pieces of fruit, though the chunks were large. Been here several times and have had a great breakfast or lunch every time. Just went for breakfast and the berry berry oatmeal was delicious. Was out early this day and decided to get breakfast- luckily this place was open! (6am!) we were the first ones there so service was quick. Menu is extensive with different sections for breakfast and lunch, choices from crepes, waffles, pancakes, sandwiches, burgers, and more! I got the chilaquiles which were very good and authentic almost. The salsa had a little kick to it, making it even more enjoyable. I didn't even have to add cholula! Sister got the biscuits and gravy, which I usually don't like, but their gravy was flavorful and biscuits were soft! We shared a strawberry cheesecake waffle, which seemed to be a wheat waffle and the glaze but the perfect amount of sweetness, with the strawberries to cut it. Syrup wasn't even needed! A bit pricey for a family brunch, and the food was mediocre at best. Plentiful menu of food and beverage options. Lox plate was $16.99, which came with a plain bagel, cream cheese, cucumber, olives (odd addition), tomatoes, capers, red onion, and lettuce (another odd addition). The cream cheese serving was 25% less than at other places, and the red onion was dried out. Kids' menu was about $7-9 and had many breakfast (pancakes, eggs, French toast, etc) and lunch (mac and cheese, grilled cheese, cheeseburger) offerings. The burger was a hit with my older mini me, but the grilled cheese had a lot of bread to cheese ratio, and the cheese was barely melted. Fries are frozen, but they tasted just fine. Including my husband's chicken panini, the bill was $58 before tip. Service was a bit slow and inattentive, both to get our drink and food order, as well as a long wait to get our food. No friendly greeting or parting words as we came and went, which we experience at every other brunch place in the area. Almost every Saturday, I pick up my mother at her independent living facility, take her to the hairdresser, then out to brunch. She lives in Glenview, and we've been starting to try a few of the local brunch spots. This week, it was Eggspresso At the Glen. She ordered it "soft." When it arrived, it was like it was hard-boiled. The server was embarrassed and quickly took it back. She returned quickly with one that was done to perfection. (I can't comment on her toast :)) And she said her coffee was also good. And sorry - no picture. Me? After reviewing the menu (deciding between breakfast and lunch), I chose their eggs and sausage. The eggs were OK. What they brought was either two jumbo eggs or three regular-sized ones. They serve the eggs with hash browns. There were three large sausage links. She suggested the butcher skillet and this is probably one of the best ever recommendations I ever had. The iced tea was a nice blend of black teas for iced. The bagel was fresh. But that skillet... I am in awe. Sausage, ham and bacon, but you can tell every single part of that skillet was chosen by someone who cares. When it came to the table, the skillet dish was on--a doily! That right! We stopped here for breakfast on a Monday morning. This is a bright, cheery place with high ceilings and lots of sun. The ladies' room, BTW, was clean and had nice decor on the countertop. You don't see that very often. Our server was attentive and did a great job. I love a place that leaves the pot of coffee on the table so you can help yourself. It's also better for the server, who doesn't have to keep coming over to top up your cup. Even better, the coffee was quite good. My husband ordered a mushroom and cheese omelet with hash browns, and it was all delicious. The hash browns, in particular, were seasoned perfectly and well done (the way I like them.) The omelet was delicious and cheesy. I ordered the lox and bagel. The lox were good, the bagel was freshly toasted, but there were no capers. The server went to check and, apparently, they were out of capers. Humph. The server should have been told this when he went on shift or he should have been told when the order came in. The piquant flavor of capers really makes the dish, so I was disappointed at that and wish I knew in advance so I could change my order. Delicious new brunch spot in the Glen! Came here with some friends on a Saturday, the first thing I noticed was that it was not busy (I'm used to nearby Egg Harbor Cafe which always has a wait on weekend mornings). Not so here, we walked right in and only about 3-4 tables were occupied. I had the Meat Lover's Benedict-I don't usually consider myself a "meat lover" but this just spoke to me. I did like that it was chunks of meat-unlike the usual 'slab' of Canadian bacon. The chunks made it easier to get a good bit with the English muffin, egg, and meat, so I appreciated that. The hashbrowns were good. I usually like them a liiiiitle bit more crispy, but that's a personal preference and they were cooked fine (and had more flavor). The nutella latte also had good flavor. Service was pretty good, our server checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. The water glass I was given initially dirty (not just like a lipstick stain, but crumbs all along the outside), and it took a bit to get a new one. Our lattes also came with the meal, I would have preferred them to come before the meal to better enjoy them; however, that again is personal preference. I'm a big fan of breakfast places that bring you your own little pot of coffee. It was nice to have it fresh and hot through the meal. Avocado toast was made especially tasty by the hearty multi-grain bread. Poached eggs were a little runny. Overall, not worth the cost. One of my dining partners had Flako's Spicy Bennie, a killer eggs Benedict with chorizo, jalapenos, and-- I assume-- crack cocaine. It was amazing. The best possible combo of savory breakfast flavors. If you like spicy breakfast foods, this is what you crave. Even if you're not a fan of chorizo, this is great. Not greasy at all. Accompanying hash browns were perfect, by the way. Another dining partner had the Nutella pancakes. Meh. A big dessert-y mess. But I'm not so much a dessert for breakfast person. Delightful chai latte if you're not into coffee. Fast, attentive service on a busy Sunday morning. If you don't happen to live in the Glen, I don't know if it's worth a special, trip, but if you live nearby or you're visiting someone nearby, it's a solid option. What an amazing, relaxing environment to grab a bite to eat at. I came here on an early Sunday morning for brunch with a coworker and instantly we were sat, given menus and waters. The spacing is massive and the seating is far apart Covid restrictions or not. This is good because diners or brunch spots having seating so close together so you often feel someone brushing against you to get past etc. Not here though. As a piece of advice, look up the menu before you arrive - there are so many options. My coworker thought she knew what she wanted and was shocked by two other items. There is an option for almost every person out there - vegans you may want to sit this one out unless you're looking to just eat fruit and drink tea. Our server was a nice young cheerful guy who knew the menu well and could provide recommendations. He was the one who suggested we get the Roasted Almond tea. As an avid tea lover, he picked just the right thing for us. We thought we were getting a cup of tea but nope! We both received our own tea steeper pot and mug. The pot gives about 3.5 cups of tea which isn't bad at all for the pricing. I chose the crab cake Bennie and the meal was heavenly! I cannot make up how quickly we ordered and our food arrived - about 13 minutes. No jokes. The crab cakes were seasons and super tender. I would've wanted a bit more crunch to the cake for texture purposes but that's my only complaint. The English muffin they use isn't thick at all either. Usually when I order any egg Benedict meal, there's more English muffin than the other ingredients. Would I return? Heck yes. I cannot believe this place has good ratings because it was incredibly disappointing. It's located in one of those rich downtown suburb type places (there's a von maur and a pure barre across the street, you know the type) so I was expecting the food to be on the nicer side. Firstly, my iced dirty chai tasted like water. But fine, whatever. I was mostly here to eat and I was craving avocado toast. Unfortunately, what I got was a very sad excuse for avocado toast.
