Two of us showed up at 5:30 pm a Wednesday and had a choice between a few seats. But, it's a very small restaurant, so it would be hard to accommodate larger groups in a busy night. Food was great and flavorful. I might pick the white rice next time instead of brown.

I've tried their other locations and this was my first time at their Elk Grove location. It was as delicious as I remember! We ordered our usual - pad thai and basil fried rice, all with tofu! Service was quick and the food was sooo good! The flavor for both dishes were on point and everything was fresh! Portions were also huge! Love that they have many vegetarian options! We'll be back for sure!!

My friends and I came here for dinner. The restaurant is small, but we came early so seating wasn't an issue. We ordered a variety of dishes to share: fried calamari, curry puff, mango shrimp salad, papaya salad (Lao style), avocado green curry, spicy tilapia, and drunken noodle. Everything was pretty good, but my favorite was probably the avocado green curry. Service was quick and our water was constantly being refilled.

Wow great Thai food and service. Finally had a chance to come try their boat noodle soup. It was very flavorful and big portion too. My daughter ordered the ground chicken with basil and fried eggs. That was delicious as well. Our server was very nice too. She was attentive. Will definitely go back and try other dishes.

In this strip mall lots of little eateries opening- this is a good one. Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant is small simple and very clean. The food was so good lots of options for everyone you are eating with in your party. Eat her you will be happy.

I came in with a group of 3 for lunch on a Thursday. Our server was super sweet and friendly. We ordered family style and everything we ordered was really good. We got thai tea, papaya salad, pad se ew, pad thai, and boat noodles and it came out to around $76. I think the pricing per plate was pretty reasonable. The thai tea was more on the milky side so if that's something you like then I would suggest ordering. When we ordered the papaya salad we got medium spice and Laos style and it was an enjoyable spice level for us. I would come back again!

Arrived around 6pm on Wednesday night. Restaurant was pretty empty. Service was very good. It was a warm day so the tall glasses of water were a nice welcome. We ordered Pad Thai with chicken, garlic pepper with beef/brown rice, basil fried rice and boat noodle. Flavors were wonderful on all the dishes. Basil fried rice was very fragrant. Boat noodle has lots of noodle and beef. A touch on the salty side. I ordered it spicy but it wasn't spicy. Thankfully, the chili options on the table helped kick up the spice level. Serving sizes were good, enough for everyone to taste and share. Definitely recommend ordering the mango sticky rice! Small restaurant. Restaurant was very packed by time we left. It's a small team working the front of the house but they took care of every table very well.

My cousin recommended this place after attending an event and I'm so glad she did! It's a small restaurant with limited seating inside but don't let that deter you. The food was incredibly flavorful large portions and came out nice and hot!

I fear that the Coconut has become one of the best Thai places in Elk Grove. My family and I live to visit and are hoping that it stays for a long time! It is tucked away in a quiet hole in the wall and the inside it quite small. Don't let the location fool you though, the food is fantastic. The chicken pad thai is consistently yummy and one of our favorite dishes to order. The chicken eggplant dish is full of vegetables and the sauce is soo full of flavor. Overall, the Coconut has consistently delivered delicious food and has become quickly become one of our favorite lunch spots.

A quiet small hole in a wall Thai restaurant. I'm not sure how long The Coconut EG has been here but it used to be a Korean place with really good kimbap and bulgogi bowl. We came here for lunch on Saturday and the place was filled up pretty quickly, so plan ahead because of the limited tables. Curry Puff was good and nicely fried. Nothing to rave about. The Chicken Pad Thai was very good and a staple dish. The waiter will ask you for the spicy level. The Mango Shrimp Salad was excellent. Fresh ingredients and generous portion. It's a perfect dish for the hot summer days in Sacramento or when you crave for something refreshing. Friendly and attentive staff. I like it that I didn't feel rushed like other smaller restaurant because they are trying to turn the table around quickly.

I've been here for soup 3 times and always left feeling I had a good meal. I love their Tom Yum. It has good flavor and I added some fish sauce to make it even taster. It's small with only a few tables and the menu is a little limited compared to their restaurant on T St. I'm glad they opened here in Elk Grove to give us another option for Thai food This will probably be the next place I take Corina for lunch as she hasn't tried it yet

Kao soy 9/10, pad thai 7/10, yellow curry 8/10, beef noodle soup 8/10. Everything was pretty good but three of my family members ended up having stomach issues after. We do not live together and it was the only meal we shared. I've been to the coconut in Sacramento and it tasted better. Will not be coming back to this location.

I love this place! My partner and I dined in and the service was great. The food came out fast and was so delicious. I ordered takeout another time for dinner and my family enjoyed it. My brother, who previously said he didn't care for thai food, loved the drunken noodles and pad thai and ate up the leftovers the next day. Their thai tea is around $4 and so worth it: strong and genuine flavor.

However, everything I've tried here so far has been phenomenal. On my second visit, I decided to try their papaya salad, and let me tell you, it was BOMB.COM. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it because we ate it so quickly, but it was seriously delicious and super well-balanced. I also ordered the Boat Noodles again, and they did not disappoint! Of course, I had to get another Thai tea with Gunther's ice cream because it's sooo good. I definitely want to keep coming back and branch out to try more of their menu instead of ordering the same things every time because everything I've had so far has been that good. The Roti appetizer we started with was warm, buttery, and paired well with the curry sauce. I absolutely love Lao style papaya salad and wow did Thai Mango exceed my expectations. As you can see from my other photos, I had ordered a few different dishes to try out. The pork rinds, rice noodles, and cabbage was a huge bonus which I enjoyed. As I was with guests who don't do spicy, I ordered medium and it had a bit of heat yet so much flavor. I took it home and my parents ate all of it (they are very picky with their papaya salad). We also ordered both the Pumpkin Curry with chicken and the Green Curry with shrimp. The portions were good, however I wish it came with a rice. We had to order a side of steamed jasmine rice and brown rice (forgot to take a picture). Both curries were delicious and I personally would rate them an 8/10 (pretty solid). The Pad Thai with chicken was my second favorite dish, which was very close to the papaya salad (1st place). They don't skimp on flavor or protein which I appreciate. This last part of the review isn't more about the food, but rather the hospitality and kindness. There was a homeless lady who came in calm at first and asked people for food. She started to get aggressive and was speaking to herself (tweaking). Not sure if it was the owner but a man came out from the kitchen and gave her an order of fried rice that she had asked for earlier. They could have called the police or been rude to her but they showed that they are kindhearted and really do care. You can count on seeing me again for some Lao style Papaya Salad. It's been a hot second since I've been here, but I've been here at least twice now! The first time…read morewas at least around the pandemic time. This time I came with my mom. I remembered the kapoon being generously sized and delicious, and the nam khao also being solid. My mom hadn't had these dishes before, so we decided to order these. My mom also hadn't had stuffed wings before, and I hadn't had it here before, so we also got that. To start, service here was exceptional. The young gentleman greeted us when we came in, and he was great at communication. There were times he was busy as it was the lunch hour, but he made sure to let us know that he didn't forget about us. We had asked for more time to look over the menu, but he had to get stuff for another table, and he basically told us he would be right with us. I haven't seen this basic communication at other places in a while, and definitely noticed. He was also very attentive and asked us preemptively if we were sharing the kapoon and that they could split it up into two bowls for us, instead of having us split it ourselves. Dishes we had: - Kapoon: Despite it being split into two bowls, it was still generously sized. Lots of chicken pieces, lots of noodles. The soup was flavorful on it's own. There's also quail eggs. They give you a side of lime, mint, bean sprouts, and shredded cabbage. - Nam Khao: Slightly on the saltier side, but it was still good. Great texture. It comes with cucumbers and a couple leaves of lettuce. Wished there was a bit more lettuce to wrap the nam khao in, and also a bit of lime on the side. We used our leftover lime for this dish. You can get fermented pork on the side, which the server quickly asked and I almost didn't process what he said, but I said yes to it. It was a packaged stick of fermented pork with a chili that you can cut with scissors and gloves they provide to you. The gloves might not be necessary if you cut the packaging and then cut the fermented pork stick straight from the packaging (trying to save the business some expenses!) - Stuffed wing: Delicious! Very flavorful. You can taste the lime leaf flavor in there. It tastes amazing with the sweet chili sauce. They can also give you another sauce on the side (didn't catch it), but it adds a bit of moisture and extra flavor with the sauce. The chicken skin had a nice slight crisp and chew to it. It comes with pickled veggies. They do have a lunch specials version of this that comes with rice, and I think rice on the side would be nice with this. It's $1 for the rice on the side with other extra things to the lunch special. The rest of the menu has definitely expanded since the pandemic to include soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, ice cream, happy hour and lunch specials. I am curious about their sandwiches and some of their other soups, and would love to come back soon!

Those were probably the best parts of the meal and what I enjoyed the most. The Beef Larb was a little too tough for my liking. It felt slightly overcooked and just wasn't the texture I was expecting. The Chow Fun noodles were also way too soft for my preference. I like my noodles with a little more texture, so these didn't really do it for me. Overall: 3/5 For what we ordered, $80 felt pretty expensive, especially considering the food was just okay. Nothing was terrible, but for that price, I expected to be more impressed. Would I go back? Probably not anytime soon. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, but based on this experience, it just wasn't worth the $80 for me.
