Look I grew up with coffee bean. It's in my home town, it's right down the street from my house, I've known the manager for years. But my only complaint is the girls today. I stood around waiting for my pastry for like 20 min. It wasn't to busy and I can tell there was a new girl working and she was the sweetest. She had made my drink wrong at first but was so kind to remake it. The other girls were helping other customers but when they weren't, they were talking and playing amongst themselves. One girl saw her friend walk in and totally bypassed me and started talking and hugging her friend. I again was standing there for over 20 min just waiting for my toasted pastry. The new girl who was working the cold bar at the time, kindly then offered to grab me my pastry but I can she was very overwhelmed and agitated by the lack of help she was receiving. No one else had stopped and asked me if I needed anything or asked if I was missing anything, they all walked around and stared at me. Yet, when I got my food, it seemed like either it was stale or it was toasted and then had been sitting for awhile and became stale. I was tired of feeling like the odd one out and left after that and didn't wanna come back and cause more grief then I already had. As a coffee lover and a fan of the bean, I have to call out the service and policies at this location during my visit on 12/27/19 1. the barista was unwilling or unable to accommodate my request for a pour-over for light or medium roast coffee 2. There were no light or medium roast coffee is available in the afternoon 3. they were unable or unwilling to accommodate a request for a dash of heavy cream instead of half and half or milk 4. They charged us for ice water instead of pointing us to the free ice water behind us. 5. I was early for a meeting so I stopped here to get some work done. There were three girls behind the counter with no one in line. One person looked to be waiting for an order. No one even said hello for a solid 5 minutes. A "hi we will be right with you" goes a long way. When the barista Kacie finally came over she was very pleasant and saved them from a one star. A coffee spot with an outside fire pit. Awesome. I am not the avid coffee drinker so many times coffee spots seem basically the same to me. Most of them have somewhat the same menus, free wifi, and comfortable couches. So maybe it's a little sad that I like this place just because they have a cool fire pit in the back that you can gather around with your friends at night and talk while sipping your mocha. I went here for the first time the other night and I was very impressed. It is a nice little business in the same parking lot as a Vons and a Big K (K-Mart)...who the heck knew K-Mart was still around?? We visited this location late at night and I did not feel like drinking a caffeinated beverage so I ended up getting an Ultimate Vanilla blended drink. It was practically amazing...almost like a milkshake without the ice cream. Smooth and creamy. I even got a gnarly case of brain freeze drinking it too fast. My only big complaint was the homeless guy who kept walking around the inside giving everyone dirty looks. Can't someone keep the riff rafts out?? Customer service is everything to me, because not only to I expect it, I give it 10-fold, unconditionally and without bias in my personal and professional life. I've visited this location to study for classes, as a patron, for almost 2 years and I am rarely met w/ a smile. I have been tolerant because I wanted to truly expect the best and not assume ... the worse. In fact, tonight was extra special. Ventura County residents are experiencing the ill effects of the Southern California fires and in many areas of our community, including my residence, there is no internet access/cable access (Spectrum cable hub was burned to the ground). I've been driving most of the day looking for spots to hook up my computer and study - driving in to Camarillo from my home in Ventura. When I walked in to Coffee Bean, Camarillo, I asked Melissa if they had internet access, she said no. I looked around and other patrons were on their computers. I then asked, if their point of sale registers were working, she said yes - it is probably on a different system. I detected something peculiar and she suggested I try the Starbucks up the street. I left the store for a moment remembering I had my hot spot unit in my car. I returned to the store, purchased a coffee (from another barista who smiled at others but not at me). I immediately was able to use my hot spot unit (which doesn't work in other areas where there is no internet connection). Then I decided to check the available Wifi list - and guess what, Coffee Bean was there! Was Melissa mistaken or was her intent to turn this patron away from the Coffee Bean, Camarillo store, who doesn't look like any other customer in this store (nor area). Frozen swirl?? How cool is that!?! I am a CBTL junkie to say the least but when I visited the Camarillo location and saw that froyo was available I was flabbergasted! Obviously the coffee is always consistent from location to location but froyo really ups the ante. Just another reason I to spend countless hours at CBTL. I only wish the locations closer to me had this option. The Camarillo CBTL has ample seating both inside and out. The parking is not an issue since this CBTL is an island location and doesn't really share spots with anyone else. I'll definitely be more or a regular when given the opportunity :D! read more

I'm w huge fan of the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and I'm very glad we have one locally in Camarillo. This location is spacious and clean. I like the lounge space set up with leather chairs and table along with the ample basics table and chair set up. There is also great patio seating which I only wish had some outdoor umbrellas set up for the warmer sunny days. The service is very friendly and prompt in taking orders and making drinks. Never been letdown on my latte. It's nice that the straw and flavors bar is set back from drink pick up. Makes for easy access. Spring is a great time along with the holidays to enjoy their seasonal specials. I don't pay expensive prices for fancy coffee often but when I do, I go for the Coffee Bean. read more

The manager at this location stepped in (didn't catch her name sorry! ) and helped to rectify the situation. She was super helpful, efficient and friendly. I've been to a lot of coffee shops along the west coast, and Coffee Bean (especially the Camarillo location) is second only to Barista in Portland, OR. It's clean, fast, and delicious. There are countless places to study or do some work, but they do get taken pretty quickly. The servers are nice and always greet you with a smile. Their prices are low and you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. If you have the option between Starbucks and Coffee Bean, go with coffee bean - it's much better! read more

Worst customer service. Unprofessional and rude!

So, I used to buy Trenta black teas from Starbucks up to 3 times a day for years. It was my go-to.... I thought nothing was better. That is, until I tried coffee bean's iced English breakfast tea. I legit have not been to Starbucks in a week, and I'm not sure if I will ever go back. There is no comparison between the two! Coffee bean's tea is so full of flavor it blows me away. You're taken on a flavor journey with each sip. Something I cannot say about Starbucks bland black iced tea. I also love that coffee bean's iced tea does not come sweetened. Think I died a little inside every time I took a drink of sweetened tea at Starbucks because they made it wrong, but with each full-bodied drink of Coffee bean's tea I have slowly been coming back to life! Before coffee bean I could barely put my shoes on the right feet... now I feel like I could build a rocket ship! The employees are really cool at this location, too. Artsy fartsy but in the cool way, kinda how Starbucks used to be circa 1999. They are super nice and friendly, and I feel like they care about the customer's needs experience. If you order on the app, expect a serious delay in your orders readiness. I ordered and app said it would be ready at 3:05pm. I'm there at 3:00pm and just now got my order. 10 minutes past the order timer. I stood waiting watching other walk in people get their order in AND received while I am watching. This happened with numerous walk-in customers. There were at least 5 employees with 3 working the machines.
