Good breakfast spot with lots of items to choose from. I had a Benedict with tomato and avocado (special request) and my partner had the chorizo burrito. Both solid choices. Bonus! They have fresh squeezed OJ. Nice little local spot to grab some grub. read more

Great little place to get breakfast decent coffee, good prices and a nice unique item with the breakfast skillets (which I recommend). They also have "mini" breakfast which are just smaller servings which my girlfriend enjoyed when she didn't want to be bogged down by a heavy breakfast. read more

This place was a disappointment. A friend recommended it for breakfast. The carpet was really dirty and the food was average at best. My wife didn't like the coffee or the fact that they didn't have any muffins or pastry at all. Only toast. It is not cheap either. Service was OK. read more

Nice little quaint eatery. Service was pretty much seat yourself. Went to the table we were directed to, that was dirty. Asked the waiter if he could wipe it down, he replied uh ok. Like it was an option to eat on a clean table.... I said please and thank you with every request. Then as service went along he opened up a bit. Food's good. Large portions. However, the service is lacking. Our waitress took our order and brought our check. Period. We couldn't get her attention for coffee, creamer, to-go box, etc. Someone else brought our food to us and we grabbed cream off another table. Finally, we helped ourselves to coffee off the pot. We really, really wanted to love this place. We have been twice and the first time the food was ok but it was unbelievably slow coming out and then parts of the meal didn't make it out. We were given 2 free meals to use at a later time which we redeemed today. Our server today was great but the kitchen left off items specifically requested and though both burgers were asked to be medium well, one was very rare. We had to send it back because the cheese wasn't on it, and then when it came back out we noticed how raw it was. The jalapeños were left off mine. They gave us the 2 kids meals free and not our entrees...so we had to pay for the most expensive items one of which was not even cooked. They gave us another free meal voucher but at this point, I doubt we will ever go back again. We are sorely disappointed because we love supporting our local businesses. read more

They know what they want to do, and they do it great! I was in CO Springs visiting friends, and they dragged me up to Monument for breakfast. At first I was skeptical, as I am usually early on weekends, but I'm a believer now. Large portions, hearty food, friendly "down home" staff, and nothing too gimmiky (I refuse to order some of the Denny's items, only because I refuse to say the names of them). I know my friends were initially in a panic because I guess it caught fire recently, but they (my friends) are doing much better now, apparently it has reopened and is just as good as before. Sorry I can't speak to the lunch/dinner menu, but I would definitely go again for breakfast and would at least give the other meals a fair shake. read more

Had the scrambler, my eggs were supposed to be scrambled and cooked not raw with egg shells. It is overpriced but unfortunately it's one of the few places that offer breakfast plates. I am not sure how this place is making it. The cooks don't seem that clean, I noticed one w/o proper gloves. The place needs to have a major lift in decor, it seems and smells stale. read more

We went for lunch this week and had an okay experience. Our server was inexperienced and not very professional. The people sitting behind us left because it took so long to get their food and it was cold when it finally did arrive. The server never apologized and just walked away and talking to himself outloud. Our food was decent, but we will likely opt for Rosie's Diner in the future (one of our favorites). I had to finally become a Yelper just to review this establishment, that's how much of an impact dining here has made. The impact, unfortunately, hasn't been good. My family and I live in the area and have visited this diner several times, with "It was alright" being the absolute best of the experiences I've had. I'm not sure what so many reviewers are raving about- perhaps they are accustomed to garbage scraps, living in caves, or freely distributing their incomes. But when you eat somewhere and consistently leave realizing that you'd have been better off either eating tree bark and puddle water or just skipping the meal entirely, something is definitely amiss. My recent (and last) visit was yesterday with my daughter (who is 18 months old). Upon entering, no one said anything to us. It wasn't enough apparently for a diner to actually choose to spend money in their business, but even a dad toting a wiggling toddler and diaper/supply bag while covered in snowflakes didn't solicit even a "Hello" or, "Here, let me get you a high-chair." Regardless, I chose a table (with the comfort level of a Mayan alter, IMHO) and proceeded to order. 'Matthew' was my server but clearly had no interest in serving whatsoever. After his first of only three visits to my table in which he took my order, I ordered the French toast plate with the side items of a pancake, scrambled egg, bowl of fruit and milk to share with my little girl. I realize that's a lot of sides but my ticket was $22. $22!! For one man, and one little girl. So throw that 'it's an affordable little joint' premise out the window. I was extremely disappointed with the costs, even though I understand add-ons change things up a bit. But shouldn't a server at a quality establishment make suggestions to combine add-ons into one separate meal to assist the guest? At the end of the day, any money made from my ticket was quickly offset by the fact that I'll never go back. In addition, our milk was brought immediately to the table even though I requested it with the meal. What's worse than hot milk with breakfast? That's right, nothing. When another server named Shelley finally brought the entire meal I politely asked if she could swap my milk for a fresh one. She replied, "Yes, but we'll charge you for two milks." I smiled and said no thanks. Three minutes later she pranced over and slammed a new milk on the table, saying nothing and quickly walking away. I literally wondered, "Do I have a sign on my head that says to be as rude as possible?" And yes, they do serve Serranos coffee and it's delicious. But you know who else serves Serranos coffee? SERRANOS COFFEE SHOP, JUST THREE BLOCKS AWAY! So the food arrives (with a ticket time approx. 30 minutes, which is odd since the place was only at 30% capacity) and the pancake is cold, the french toast is cold, my daughter's egg is oozing grease making it inedible, and there was no syrup on the table. After 5 minutes of waiting for the syrup to hide the taste of my meal, I just got up and found a jar on the server's station. We quickly ate our meals and left. No "thank you for coming," no "in this economy, thanks for spending your money here," no nothing. Maybe I just went on a bad day, you say. Nope, this was definitely the worst of my visits but not by much. There's simply no reason to eat here if you value quality breakfast, impressive service, or reasonable prices. About the decor- when you hear "local joint," be cautious. Landfills are also "local joints." There's nothing glaringly bad about this place, but there's also nothing positive to speak of. When you were young, if you ever visited a friend's dirty grandmother's house, you'll feel the memories flow in The Coffee Cup Cafe. It was a special touch when without prompting my server had to immediately re-wipe and scrub down our entire table before we ordered. Lest you say "this newbie's just nit-picking," I'll sum it up- Food = below average to poor Service = poor Decor = below average to poor Prices = below average With money so tight these days for each of us, there's simply no excuse for blowing your disposable income on such a bad experience. I hesitate to say, but the reality is that you'll get a much better dining experience at several chain restaurants within a tether-ball swing away. If you want my recommendation, go to Rosie's for a true diner experience and swing through Serranos drive-thru on your way home. Your welcome. read more

I just moved to Monument and was in a jam to feed the family that was there to help. I Yelped breakfast restaurants and came across this one...so glad. First of all, it's a hoping place but they efficiently sat everyone then bussed the tables quickly to get more customers sat down. The food was good and made to order. The best part was their service. Immediate greetings during a busy time, friendly wait staff with everyone and checked in on me while I waited for my to-go order. Depending on how the spirits move the waitstaff and cooks, they can be either good or bad. We have been treated rudely in the past, and the food has varied from very good to horrendous. Just went this past week and we were greeted well and the breakfast was fantastic...hot, plentiful, fresh and tasty. I like their sausage patties and corned beef, and my daughters were blown away by the enormous buttermilk pancakes. My big eater brother swears by the number 1 combo burrito with green chili. He says its everything one could want on one plate. They need to do a thorough cleaning, as the floors and walls are getting grubby, but they do have a pretty good breakfast still. read more

I have been to the coffee cup many times. The small-town atmosphere and the wonderful wood floors make my experience worthwhile. The food s what you would expect. Not impressed at all. Very disappointing. Had a chorizo burrito and a Belgium waffle breakfast. Green chili tasted like it was out of the can. The cheese inside was sliced American cheese (not even grated or fresh), and they used store bought tortillas. Highly overpriced for the quality. Waffle was average. Fruit on top was not fresh at all. It was mushy! Ordered a fried egg over well (not runny and not hard and dry)...first egg came out running all over the plate. Second egg came out crispy and burnt. Well....I always say that you have to try a place at least twice before you decide if you like it or not. I have, and can say with certainty that this place should be skipped until a new operations manager is hired. Went this morning and boy, what a mess. There were several (count 8) empty but dirty tables. The kid working said they were working on clearing them. When we left an hour later there were still several (count 7) empty, but still dirty tables. This time, the same kid who said they were working on clearing them was chatting it up with a customer. Dirty tables take a priority in any restaurant. It takes 3 minutes to clear them. That being said, the food was pretty good. I did get a look at the cook though, and ick. He looked dirty and had something in his mouth (a receipt perhaps, but ish). Might have returned to give it another go because the food was okay, but after seeing the cook, I'll stick to Rosies or Willow Tree. read more

A very diverse breakfast - lunch menu. Coffee Cup Cafe appears to be operated exclusively by teens and young 20's, but they were keeping up with the quick Sunday morning business. Service was polite, but they didn't check on us after our food was delivered or offer to refill water glasses. Our orders came quickly. The place has a very local feel to it. Our food was very average. My husband's bean and sausage soup was boring. Not bad, just nothing I coveted after he gave me a taste. My daughter's crepe was presented well with real slices of fresh fruit (berries), not mushy frozen stuff. The crepes were fairly thick (think pancake-like) Last and definitely least was my green chile. I wish I could rave about it. But I would not recommend this dish. Again, it wasn't bad, just not good. It seemed to have a lot of thickening agent in it with canned chile and some pork pieces. I'm wondering if this place would be better off offering less options to concentrate more on honing their dishes. read more

Basic cafeteria food. Nothing special. If you're looking to be wowed go elsewhere. I got the turkey wrap and I should have just come home and made myself a pbj which would have been better. My son got a kids cheese burger that turned out to be mostly dry bread cause the beef hockey puck was less than half the side of the bun. Won't be going back. read more
