While we are accustomed to seeing older homes in New England, I see far less operating as restaurants or Inns. That said, this building's been standing since 1849. Deep red walls, wide-plank floors, framed portraits of people long gone, a fireplace; this place has the kind of character you simply can't manufacture. Add a live jazz duo playing piano and upright bass in the corner and the atmosphere is close to perfect. We settled in at the bar, which has a decent whiskey selection, and started with cocktails. We also shared the kale and butternut squash salad; we asked them to add a goat cheese medallion from their spinach salad, and honestly it was the right call. That bright, creamy note was exactly what the salad needed...or maybe what I needed. I do love fried goat cheese on a salad. Either way, it was perfect. Then came the cranberry rolls, which were the quiet star of the afternoon; crunchy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. Don't skip these. For mains, I had the breakfast skillet, which is essentially everything but the kitchen sink loaded into a cast iron pan. Heavily loaded with meat (Arby's would be jealous), homefried potatoes with satisfying crusty bits, a couple over medium eggs, and served sizzling hot. The cheese sauce draped over the top was lighter than you'd expect, landing somewhere between a béarnaise and a classic cheese sauce; it kept the whole thing from getting too heavy. It took a while to work through, and that's not a complaint. My partner had the butternut squash and brown butter sage ravioli. It was well-cooked, flavorful, not too rich, though a little more sage would have put it over the top. The bartender had a good sense of humor and clearly knew his way around the bar. The problem was that he was doing too much; he appeared to be his own bar back, serving the six people at the bar, waiting on the tables within the lounge area, and it appeared he was covering other tables outside of the lounge area as well. He was often away, and with salad plates, appetizer plates, and menus sitting in front of us long after they were needed, the clutter added up. Pre-bussing costs nothing and makes a real difference. Tighten up the staffing model and this place is a very easy five. If you're in the area, you should stop in and check it out for yourself. I'm not sure if the jazz duo on Sunday brunch is a regular occurrence, but if it is, you should definitely make a point of it. They were wrapping up around 2:30-3:00 and it made the whole afternoon feel like something a little more special than just brunch. read more

The place looked like a super cute and quaint place for a nice girl's dinner so went ahead and made easy Saturday night reservations via Open Table. The parking is as difficult as all the reviews state - so as my fellow yelpers recommended, if the lot looks full, it's full - just park at the CVS and walk over. It's way too tight to wait around and maneuver for a spot. Walking into the place reminds you of being welcomed into a friend's comfy home. We were seated in a back room that felt cozy. Bernie was our server and he was a delight, super personable and attentive. For apps, we had the 1/2 size eggplant rollatini and 1/2 size spinach and goat cheese salad. Rollatini was good, salad was umm interesting - had a ton of fruit on it with a dressing I didn't love but it wasn't bad, just not sure I'd get it again. Onto the entrees - everyone really enjoyed their meals (short ribs and seafood cardinale) except me lol. My side pasta with pink vodka was good but my Chicken Rossini (labeled as a staff favorite) wasn't bad, it just had a flavor I didn't care for, a little bit of salt did help it but I wouldn't get it again. We enjoyed our visit very much and I would def come back to try other options. All of the staff were wonderful. Bernie mentioned to come back during the summer months as they have the patio open. Fun brunch spot to check out with friends! I'd never even heard of this place until someone mentioned it, and I'm really glad I ended up going. It has such a cozy, quaint inn vibe that makes it feel a little special without being over the top. The food was great, honestly, the home fries were my favorite. It's a bit fancier than I expected, but in a good way. They also had live music, which was a nice touch. I'd definitely love to come back when it's warmer and sit outside since it looks like they have some really nice outdoor seating. read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while! First, the atmosphere is warm and cozy. On Wednesdays there is a special three course meal for $37.00!! Mine included: first, a HUGE side salad with a delicious dressing and warm, baked bread. Next the chicken franciase - tender, beautifully cooked chicken with a delicate lemon and capers sauce, topping angel hair pasta and freshly shaved cheese. Finally, bread pudding - dense and flavorful, with caramel sauce and whipped cream. The waiter was running the entire place - the bar area, dining room, all on his own. Even still, he was attentive, efficient and informative. It was a great meal and I look forward to visiting again and trying something new!! read more

The food was delicious, but the service was not so. I had been wanting to try this place for years. It is a wonderful boutique inn right in Attleboro. They decorate seasonally, and I am so grateful to have visited during the holiday season. My party was visiting for a special occasion, so we made a reservation. The hostess on the phone was very kind and helpful in answering questions. We arrived and were seated immediately. We were first given water and the menus. After a bit of waiting we met our server Kyle who took our order for a bottle of white wine. Kyle did not seem happy to be there, and even less enthused to be serving our table. I genuinely felt like I did something wrong, or had offended him. His attitude just put a damper on our evening. We continued and ordered the Shrimp Scampi and the Dijon Half Rack of Lamb. We did not see Kyle again until the entrees came out, and had to refill our own wine. We decided to just slow down and not order another drink from him. The shrimp scampi was delicious and exactly as expected. For the lamb, the menu said it would come with a vegetable and the potato of the day. Kyle asked me what I wanted and for vegetable and I was confused that I had a choice, but selected roasted potatoes. The lamb was served with spinach on the side, and mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes are a large disappointment when expecting roasted. My party decided we had enough for the evening and decided to get the check. It was difficult to find Kyle or get his attention, but we eventually paid and left. While this was not the experience I was expecting or hoping for, I did enjoy the food. I hope I will be able to return in the future and give a more positive review of the service, which just is not up to par with the rest of the offerings at the inn. read more

One of my favorite restaurants, the several small dining rooms let the experience be intimate. The food is delicious. I usually always get a steak, namely prime rib or ribeye, but this time they had duck on the menu, it was sooo good, it came with wild rice, which I'm not a fan of, so I asked our awesome waiter Bernie if I could substitute it with mashed potatoes, he didn't even hesitate, absolutely anything you want. Bernie was very personable and we were never left wanting for anything. I was the only one who got dessert, but everyone helped themselves, the molten lava cake was warm and gooey!!! And I need to mention there was a wedding going on in the carriage house, and still the food and service were great!! read more

We have heard about this restaurant for many months- and decided to try it out with a girlfriend for brunch. Parking is at a premium here. There is only one way in from the street- and the parking loops around the building and is very tight. Was a bit stressful getting turned around. There is public parking across the street of the lot is full. The building is beautiful. We were promptly seated for our reservation. Our server was attentive and the drinks and food came out quickly. My friend had eggs Benedict I didn't get a photo of that ... but was really good. Brunch comes with tea or coffee and home fries and your choice of bacon or sausage. There was a musician playing cello on the other room but we could not hear the music from where we were seated.. so if the music is a draw for you here make sure to get reservations in the room they are playing in. Went for our 59 wedding anniversary. We went early so there were no crowds. We had reservations. We stared with the clam chowder, which was just right. Very creamy and not too thick. For the entree I ordered lamb chops. These came with a blueberry glaze topped with gorgonzola cheese. I love lamb but my wife does not so this is a special occasion meal out at a restaurant only for me. The lamb was cooked perfectly. Tender and not over cooked. It how ever tasted like blue berries not lamb. And the cheese topping didn't help either. If you like lamb that tastes like blueberries run, don't walk and make a reservation. I thought it tasted weird and would order something else on the menu. My wife had the fish and chips. Cooked well large portion but unremarkable and way over priced. read more

True rating: 3.75 What a cute place! Who knew this place existed so close to home? I am such a fan now. My husband and I had a date night and it was a great spot to get out and be adults again (without the kids!) We wanted to stay close to home but try out a new place. Tip: even though a reservation did not appear available online- I called and they had a few reservations open for the upcoming Saturday night on the patio! SCORE! The patio made me feel like I was not in Attleboro- I even said it to my husband. It made me feel like I was in Portsmouth or Middletown. Its quaint, had a stage with a live performance, a fountain, trellis, brick pathways, etc... Our patio table for two was equipped with a little light to shine down on the table for us. I LOVE the atmosphere! It's a perfect date spot or lunch with friends. I started with a paradise punch- pricey but delicious! I don't like it too boozy and it was just right. We split a Caesar salad. The large portion is enough for 3 or 4 peoples to kick start a meal. I had the filet and he had the NY strip. This place is a little pricey but ever now and then you need to splurge and since our last date night was in February we soaked it up! I have to say I tried their green bean special that night as a side- green beans tossed in pasta sauce. Just not for me. Their mashed potatoes did need a little garlic or more butter. Their filet was a nice cut. I asked for the béarnaise sauce on the side (just not my thing) so I felt like the steak needed a little more flavor (and I know some may cringe at this but I asked for A1 which they did not have) so I salted the heck out of it! Why not a 4 stars? The food needed a little something for me but I would DEFINITELY go back again and would love to try a pasta dish. read more

Col blackinton consistently delivers superior food, service, and ambience making it our go to spot for celebrations, most recently our anniversary. The short ribs and mashed potatoes were off the charts. My husband enjoyed a pasta dish that also looked delicious. Recently we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Colonel Blackington Inn. I made reservations by calling them directly several days in advance of a beautiful Friday night requesting an outdoor table on their patio. A very cute establishment with a expansive outdoor dining space complete with high top tables, tables for two, four or parties of six or more. There are also seats under covered tents, tables that open up from more permanent structures and some with umbrellas. We were fortunate to have a table for two not only near a heat lamp, but neighboring an external flame pit; both were welcomed as the temperatures of the beautiful day dipped with the setting sun. The staff from hostess to waitress were friendly, willing to answer menu questions with confidence and knowledge, and courteous. Parking can be a little tricky if you don't find a spot in the back, but note that there are areas to pack across the street, if needed. As for the food, we started with the beat salad which was plenty large enough to share. A mixture of yellow and red beats with greens (e.g., arugula) and blue cheese were presented very nicely on the plate. We both wished we requested no blue cheese, but they were easy enough to separate and avoid. For entrees we both enjoyed a little taste of Italy with the Chicken Parmigiana and the Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were served over linguine and were large enough to be boxed, brought home, and enjoyed for lunch the following day. We passed on dessert with the meals so large. Overall we were very satisfied and despite the longer than usual drive for dinner, would definitely put the Colonel Blackington Inn on a future date night dinner rotation. read more

My first time out in a long time due to hip replacement. It's Valentines Day and we had a wonderful late lunch. They had a beautiful menu of specials with lots of choices. The service was friendly the food and drinks were great and it was very nice to be there in the afternoon. They had a fire going in the fireplace, it was just exceptional. We love this restaurant. Got curbside takeout weekly during the first few months of covid which was excellent. Kim really runs this place like a well-oiled machine. Their outdoor patio is gorgeous and the live music is a nice bonus. $5/person charge is quite reasonable. We will continue to sit on the patio even as the weather cools. Their setup is wonderful. A fire pit, heat lamps, just wear a warm sweater and maybe bring a blanket! Food is always excellent. Their salmon is my go to, hubby says they've got the best prime rib he's ever had. Their cocktail menu is also very creative and delicious. The peanut butter hot chocolate was a delicious "liquid dessert." Peanut butter whiskey. Who knew? Wow! Would love it in a to go cup lol With covid, there is no valet so you can self park in their lot but it can be tight. We usually park in the cvs lot next door, which is perfect. read more

Probably a 3.5 not a 4. The atmosphere is great and I'm sure sitting outdoors in the summer listening to music is great. The food was just ok. Crab cake app was ok, little to much stuffing not enough crab. Beet salad was ok, needed more dressing for the greens. Strip steak was cooked perfectly and tender, mashed need some more flavor. Pork chop was slightly over cooked. Cod stew was very good however the chicken Rossini lacked flavor. I would definitely go back but wish it was better. read more

Before I say ANYTHING, let me say I was not involved with anything financially here, so price is not taken into consideration with this review. My father had gotten married recently, and this is the venue they decided. Its was great enough a wedding was able to be planned in the first place considering the current situation of things, but this was a nice small local choice. It is a small but sweet venue perfect for what they wanted for a wedding; it wasn't extraordinarily big or fancy... but that's a positive thing. It was still a very pretty place; yhe layout of the building was interesting and visually appealing, the outside area was decorated and very professional looking... the indoor dining area was also pretty nice. Once again, a perfect place for the two to get married as there were only about ~20 guests and they didnt want anything SUPER fancy (i.e. super expensive) in the first place. The food itself was also pretty damn good... the appetizers we ordered were pretty fine, I really loved their meatballs. I ordered the chicken parm and it was a very good chicken parm, really hit the spot! Is it good enough food for me to come back?I'm not really the target demo for coming back here again, so its not surprising I dont have an incredible urge to go here again. Also chicken parm itself is a dish hard to screw up but also pretty standard regardless. But I certainly would not complain if I got the chance to eat here again and try out some more delicious food! read more
