What has happened to the Coachman Lounge in Bellingham?!!! We haven't been here in about 6-9 months The menu is underwhelming. Very few choices compared to prior menus The food is just ok. I came here tonight with 14 of my family members to have dinner for a going away party. We sat outside which was beautiful. It almost makes you feel like you're on a tropical island. What would have made the overall experience 10 times better was if they had outdoor music, especially on a Friday and Saturday night. Our waitress was very friendly and very attentive and did a great job with all of our needs wants and asks. No fault of hers, but when dinner got delivered, we were missing one tray. And the filet mignon was extremely undercooked so we had to send it back. My mom and stepdad ordered the burger, which was extremely messy and also undercooked. I ordered the pink vodka, chicken sandwich with no bread which came out as a huge portion, and the whipped ricotta and pesto was amazing. We started off with an appetizer of steak and cheese eggrolls, which were also amazing and came out fresh crispy and hot. The bathrooms were a three out of five stars as they could've been a little cleaner however there was a cleaner walking in when I was walking out. There are multiple outdoor bars and again the setting is super romantic and the outdoor bars look like they could be a good time if I was to go back with friends. There is plenty of our street parking and everything was extremely handicap accessible as my 92-year-old Meme was with us and is in a wheelchair. My daughter asked to see the dessert menu and didn't realize this was the type of restaurant that brings you over a tray of all the premade desserts for you to pick from. There was a very large selection of desserts for all types of taste buds. Came here with my family for a nice dinner. We ordered many different dishes- steak, chicken, and seafood. We also ordered 3 appetizers- baked feta, mozzarella en carrozza , and arancini balls. All of the food was pretty good. I would say that my dish wasn't particularly hot, just warm, which was kind of upsetting. Also, our server was very kind, but she seemed to disappear for a long amount of time in between us sitting, ordering drinks, ordering and receiving appetizers, and (finally) ordering dinner. We were having a good time, so maybe that's why she took a step back... but it did take us over an hour to get our meal order in. Overall, a nice spot. My partner and I had a late evening appointment tonight and we decided to stop here after. I made a reservation but we didn't need to as it definitely wasn't busy. Our waitress was Margarita and she was attentive but not overwhelming and took excellent care of us. I was very impressed by her service. We noticed that they had $60 meal deals on Thursdays and it had some impressive options- 1 app, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. We had the zucchini fries for an app. They were cooked well and I enjoyed them. Then we ordered the sole piccata and shrimp Alfredo. He liked his sole. I thought the shrimp Alfredo was just okay. The sauce was standard and there were only four shrimp, but I will say they were quite large. I'd have preferred if they had taken off the tails though. For dessert I had the peanut butter explosion which was nice. Very decadent but still tasty. My only critique is that they served it with cool whip instead of whipped cream. Odd choice for a higher end restaurant. My partner ordered the lemon bar but the chocolate torte came out instead. We aren't people that would send food back so he ate the torte- however Margarita noticed and gave us a lemon bar to go on the house for the mistake. It wasn't necessary but very appreciated! Overall I definitely recommend the Coachman's Lodge. It's a beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance and while the food isn't perfect the staff and setting make up for it! read more

I am not usually one to write a negative yelp review .. but I cannot let this go. Not impressed. Believed the hype online saying this was the best place in town & booked an "indoor" reservation for a date night. We got dressed up only to show up & find patrons dressed in jorts- that should have been a sign. Inside was closed for the season & they sat us at table was smushed into a corner where I had a literal palm tree in my hair the entire night... It was just one thing after another .. they were out of the signature old fashioned drink, & while the flavor was good.. the calamari was soggy (like it was sitting for too long), they forgot our Caesar salad & our dinner took forever to come out -- to the point where the waitress AND manager came to the table to apologize. We were told the salad would be taken off the check **spoiler alert** it wasn't. When we got our food, the weekend special cilantro chicken was dry/lacking flavor & the "pink vodka chicken parm sandwich" arrived with marinara. This was our first & last time at this establishment.. which is unfortunate because the scenery was nice on the water with a fountain & truly could have been a nice experience. Not worth the $150 check -- go to GlenPharmer or Alicante one town over you'll have better cocktails & better quality food. read more

We had not been to the Coachmen's Lodge for many years and enjoyed our experience with another couple. It was a Sunday afternoon; a special dinner offer for a three course meal was offered for a reasonable price.Our server, Margo, was very friendly and attended to our needs throughout our meal. She quickly served water and appealing bread with olive oil and condiments. The ambiance in the restaurant was lovely in the rich deep green Rakeville room with a lit fireplace. It was, however, slightly difficult to hear in our seated location as we were adjacent to the bar which was quite busy. We hope to be able to dine in the Bartlett room in the future. Regarding our dining experience, we began with the fried zucchini appetizer served with a side of tzatzikias dip to share and it was scrumptious! Regarding entree selection, Hubby loved his rich tasting Harvest ravioli - stuffed with goat cheese, caramelized onions, sweet butternut squash, tossed in a creamy garlic sauce and topped with perfectly grilled chicken. I actually wanted that entree but we had decided to try two different entrees. I chose the steak tips a la Mama which were fine but not compared to the ravioli dish. Some of the steak tips were a bit difficult to cut, but the mashed potatoes and roasted zucchini were very good. The included desserts of NY style cheese cake served with whipped cream and strawberries as well as the flourless chocolate torte, each of which were accompanied with whipped cream and strawberries were a very sweet ending! We will look forward to returning and perhaps dine in the Bartlett room if available. read more

One of the worst dining experiences of my 67 years on earth. 7 OClock reservation for 4, we got 2 meals at 8:30 and our wives meals a half hrs later. Told by the chef, the manager and the waiter they would comp the night. Then they try to change us for 2 meals, i said the 2 we waited for an hour and a half or the 2 we waited 2 hours for? Even after all that they bill us for drink and salads. Worst service ever, and they at least should have kept their word when they said it would be comped! read more

Hi Five of us went there for Easter dinner. The function room which we were seated at was so loud you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you at the same table. We asked for a quieter area; but even with all the open tables they did not accomodate our request. We spent 500$ on a regular dinner and we all ended up with headaches due to the noise. So disappointed. I had called up e weeks prior and talked in detail to the woman on the line explaining how my husband suffers from constant headaches and even asked to be seated in a corner because the tend to be the quietest. Manager stated the delay was because the first order was unacceptable-he should have come out & told us when he ordered a new plate. You just can't serve undercooked chicken, get a thermometer!! We had a great experience here. We had the stuffed mushrooms and both agreed they were better than our usual place to order them. My husband had the prime rib, which came out exactly medium rare to his liking. I had a bite. It was delicious. I had the roasted gnocchi and a side salad. The gnocchi had roasted pears and Gorgonzola. It was a great combo of sweet and savory. For dessert, he had a Dubai chocolate cake and I had a Greek dessert (name escapes me) and it was very good. Our server (whose name I didn't catch, but our receipt said "Bartlett t") was totally on point, anticipating our needs and showing up at exactly the right times. But we were places in the ballroom which looked nice but we couldn't even hear the person next to us it was so loud in there. We were sat smack in the middle of 2 parties of 20 plus people. Overpriced for the quality. Plain and simple. Atmosphere gets 4 stars. It would get 5, but we were looking forward to the live music and 1. they had horrible voices. I wished my daughter was there. She could sing better. 2. They took a break so long just as we got our meal and didn't return until we were done with our meal. Maybe that's a blessing in disguise. The speakers were so loud we had to yell to hear each other anyway. The service was satisfactory, but did not match the atmosphere or the pricing. I expected a little more friendliness. They were attentive enough, but did not do anything about our not-so-subtle complaints about the food. It was the type of service you'd expect at a pub. No smiles, no warm welcome or thank you. Just handed us the bill at the end. Drinks - They do not know how to make a Long Island iced tea. The ratios of alcohol were way off. I could tell just by looking at it. It was the same color as my white wine. We mentioned it was not good as evidenced by the still full glass at the end of the meal and nothing was offered in place of the drink. Even a soda would have been nice. The bread was excellent. Dipping oil could have used more seasoning. It was not spicy which is good for me. Soft on the inside, lightly crispy on the outside. Big problem...it was served in a silver bowl. How are you supposed to cut bread in a curved bowl? We used the cutting board from our fig pizza appetizer to cut the bread. Thankfully the appetizer was served first for this purpose. The ONLY amazing food item was the fig gorgonzola pizza appetizer. Although the corners were dry and overcooked, the middle pieces were flavorful and delicious! They should bring the toppings right to the edge so every slice is covered in toppings, not just the middle pieces. Based on the appetizer and bread (too much bread In retrospect), we were looking forward to a great main course. Food was served at a good pace. The french dip shaved beef meal was ok. No complaints except it could use more cheese and onions. The salad that came with it was huge and had exactly ONE thin slice of cucumber. Seriously?? The server mentioned 4 options for dressing. Not a lot of variety and no Thousand Island, unfortunately. The "lobster" flavored mac & cheese was awful for $38 or for $0!! Very watery. Very salty. And mostly just specs of lobster! No real pieces of lobster. When we complained to the server she responded, "Yeah, a lot of people complain about it." She didn't offer to substitute or do anything about it. That was the point when we decided not to go back. She said they put 2oz of lobster in. 1 serving of protein is 3oz. 2oz is nothing and I highly doubt there was even an ounce in there. The server didn't even ask if we wanted dessert or anything else even though I put on the reservation and mentioned when I reconfirmed our reservation that it was a special anniversary dinner. The outdoor bar looked nice. Unfortunately I have no desire to go back and try anything else based on the poor response to our complaints. The meal came to $108 before tip. For that price I expect better everything! It looks like a great place for a function like a large birthday party or wedding shower. I would give it 3 stars, but the poor customer service weighs more heavily than the taste of the food. 3 stars for food only because the fig pizza was so good! read more

Let me start off by telling you it had been almost 20 years since I had been to the Coachmen. So much has changed. The patio area is gorgeous!! As others have said menu items are on the higher price point but the portions are fairly large. I ordered the Yellow Tail special, which was very tasty and fresh. Others at my table really enjoyed their dinners as well. The bread is phenomenal. Our waitress was Lisa, who was attentive and had a great personality. I asked for a drink that wasn't on the menu (a spicy margarita) and it was made perfectly. I will certainly be back for a date! One complaint I had was the amount of mosquitos that came out at dusk. My poor ankles were eaten alive. I can only imagine how much worse they would have been if they didn't spray. The property management should definitely talk to the company they use for mosquito management because their product isn't cutting it. We weren't even that far off from the building, I can only think the farther tables would have gotten it worse. read more

Drinks were way below average to tasteless .. I ordered an Old Fashion with bourbon.. gave me a whiskey not Bourbon and not properly made, more like a High Ball. Ordered a beer next and they only had cans took 20 minutes had to come from patio bar. Pretty empty for a Thursday night. I have been going to the Coachman 3 or 4 times a year for 40 plus years and have never had a bad experience. Some visits better than others, but nothing below a 3. My most recent experience was a late lunch with 2 others. We had the pleasure of being seated at a table being served by one of the best waitpersons (Gabby) we have ever had in any of the restaurants we have dined in. She has just the right amount of professionalism and personalism that a server should have. She has a great attitude, and her smile is contagious. We all had the burgers, and each was cooked to perfection. The only negative for the food is the only cheese they offer is Cheddar. Been many times and always a pleasant experience. Summer patio is nice and winter lodge feels warm and cozy. Prices are moderate and food is always as expected. The place never exceeds expectations, though, and the staff can range from friendly to surly. It's large and some rooms feel outdated, which seems to fit the over 60 crowd. All in all it's a good time and good food and we'll continue coming back. read more

I used to come here when I was a kid with my grandmother and loved it. 25 years ago when I moved to the area, I went with my husband and we loved it especially the apple cider bread. We tried coachman's yesterday and we were so disappointed. There was no apple cider bread bread and the bread that was served was bland. Worst experience we have ever had. We arrived at 7:30. At 9:10 we left, still waiting for our appetizer ( we had also ordered dinner). The bartender did apologize and stated that the kitchen was "Behind" but after being told that, still waiting another half hour, and then seeing the couple next to us receiving their app when they arrived 30 minutes after us, we did decide to leave. That couple actually felt so bad and offered us some of their food. Halfway through this experience we did ask the bartender if our app was coming out. The bartender apologized for the long wait, and gave us a second round "'On the house" but we would rather have had our app and meals that we ordered. I never write reviews. But this experience was just not expected. If the kitchen can't handle it as we were told, then don't have that many people come into the establishment. read more
