Had my first experience at The Commited Pig and it was excellent!! My wife and I split an order of buffalo wings for an appetizer and they were cooked perfectly and had a generous amount of sauce on them. I dont normally do wings out because I just always end up with something on my shirt, but a handful of napkins and a few wetnaps left at the table made it worth it! My cactus shirt was safe so far! My wife got the chipotle bacon burger and I got the good morning burger. Both were cooked perfectly and had a lot of cheese. Nothing wrong with that! The good morning burger had a fried egg and porkroll (apparently some call this taylored ham), both delicious additions to what would probably be an already great burger. They really put it over the top! We tried the regular fries and waffle fries, both crispy and delicious. Definitely would recommend if you in the Mannasquan area!! I started off as such a fan of this place. Now I never want to go back. The food is good but the service is HORRENDOUS. We waited 45 min in between getting drinks and when our food came out. The waitress did not check on us or apologize once during that time. When we finally got our food (2 min before we agreed to just walk out), she disappeared for 20 min at a time. Meh. The Committed Pig was our last stop before catching the train after spending the weekend in Mannasquan. We walked in after the brunch rush for an early dinner and ordered the milanese chicken salad and the chipotle bacon burger. The latter was completely overcooked which for a place that prides itself with making awesome burgers is unacceptable. The "large panko crusted chicken breast" on the salad turned out to be a slab of chicken as big as a plate, pounded to the thinness of about 1/4 inch and heavily crusted in breadcrumbs. The meat - breading ratio was just completely off and not at all what I expected. After having some great food at Remingtons and Blend, The Commited Pig was a bit of a let down. read more

We came for brunch at around 1pm on a Saturday, and the place was packed. Cute decor, but extremely tight. My fiancé and I were seated within minutes of our arrival, and we quickly made our menu decisions. This is where things start falling apart. Our server didn't come to take our drink order for 15 minutes. It was another 15 before our order was taken, and took half an hour for our food to come out. I understand that the servers have no control of the kitchen, and can't get mad at that, but seriously? Half an hour just to order? My drink was empty for at least 10 minutes, also, and despite actually trying to waive down a staff member, we felt ignored. Three stars because the food was incredible. Cornflake crusted French toast was just too good for words. That being said, we won't be back. We went to brunch here the other Saturday and left pleasantly stuffed. After about a 20 minute wait we were seated. Tip- you can call ahead. The menu was incredibly interesting! My boyfriend had the Blanco Taylor Ham sandwich with Waffle Fries. Definitely had a kick to it. I had the Tempura Avocado Taylor Ham sandwich and sweet potato fries. We had lunch here in October while we were doing the NJ Lighthouse Challenge, picking this restaurant because of all the positive reviews on Yelp (which, btw, is AWESOME when we travel!). Yelpers were not wrong - this place is sooooooo good. The parking can be tricky - there's a small lot around back, and we got lucky to find a spot. It was busy inside, and we had to wait a few minutes for a table, but not as long as I feared on an Sunday (early) afternoon. The decor is nice, the servers are super friendly, but the food. Oh my goodness the food. I ordered the Triple B - bacon, blue cheese and balsamic reduction, because there are few things I love more foodwise than the combination of bacon and blue cheese. It was so beautiful when it came out that I had to take a picture and post it on FB. (True story) And then it disappeared. Unbelievably good and very well executed - juicy burger, crisp bacon, tangy blue cheese, and the balsamic reduction put it over the top. Meanwhile, the husband very quietly ate every single bit of his illy dilly burger (quite an accomplishment - they're huge!) and sighed happily when he was done, so I'm guessing it was pretty good too. There were piles and piles of crispy, fresh fries as well. All in all, a great experience and one of the best lunches we've had in New Jersey. Definitely going back here. read more

What a gem located in Manasquan, NJ...a small, casual spot serving up some delicious food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast...the earlier the better, as this place has a constant flow of hungry patrons...but it would be well worth the wait. We had the chicken & the pig, the avocado omelette, and the challah french toast...the portions are large, the ingredients are quality and fresh, and the service is quick and friendly. Not to mention the homemade raspberry jelly for the toast is AMAZING. Will be heading back all summer long during my visits to the Jersey Shore. read more

Arrived around noon on a Thursday and easily snagged a table in the medium-small restaurant. The place was about 1/3 full at the time. They serve breakfast and lunch items all day, which is always nice. Sometimes all I want for dinner is a fluffy pancake drenched in syrup, you know? However, I was leaning towards something on the healthier end of the spectrum (and vegetarian) so I went with the Falafel Burger ($13) and swapped in a side of fruit instead of fries. The burger was pretty good! And hugeee. You definitely need to smoosh it down a bit to get a bite with all the ingredients. I chose the falafel patty for this burger--you can ask for a falafel patty on any of the burger options, but this one obviously made the most sense. The Falafel Burger (with falafel patty) consists of a thick falafel topped with tomato slices, pickles, lettuce, hummus, and a cucumber yogurt sauce all between a fresh brioche bun. I did enjoy my burger a lot, especially that yogurt sauce which went pretty well with the other ingredients. My only (small) complaint is that the lettuce (listed mixed greens on the menu) was thick and crunchy and didn't taste as good as delicate mixed greens would have. Still enjoyed my lunch though, don't get me wrong. The small cup of fruit was decent... nothing noteworthy. Just the typical cantaloupe, honeydew melon medley along with a few strawberry slices and pineapple bits. Glad I went with the fruit because the burger was filling. My boyfriend seemed to enjoy his Chipotle Bacon Burger ($14) too. Pretty sure it's BYOB here just like many of the dining spots in the area. Service was pretty standard, no complaints. The chairs are not the most comfortable so snag a padded bench spot or don't plan on staying too long. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd be happy to come back! read more

The sisters both chose the crabby melt, very delish. Choc chip pancakes a hit, and serving the coffee in personal thermoses is a GREAT touch. Nice small little place in a nice town. Doesn't seem as if the place gets too busy went around 6pm on a Friday and was seated right away, that's a plus. The dinner menu is limited but you typically can choose something quickly. The famous burgernut looks amazing but I did not get this just judging off recent pictures it does in fact look interesting. Anyways I got the Mr.Beautiful a turkey burger with Gruyere cheese, jalapeños, avocado & an over easy egg. Major plus is that they use Martin rolls so the bun is amazing. The burger was tasty I definitely made a mistake and should of got a beef burger but the turkey burger was still great. The Jersey shore(had a small bite of) and it was so juicy and tasted every bit of sauce and cheese every bite. Also the waffle fries were so crispy and crunchy made to perfection. Highly recommended this place have to go back and get a beef burger if it taste as good as it looks in the pictures than I'll re review this place and give it 5 stars. I stopped here for a late lunch with my daughter (8 Months). We had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The food was very good! The grilled cheese was perfectly toasted, every bite delivered a butter, cheesy surprise, the tomato sooo was creamy and perfect for dipping. Our server was excellent! She was very attentive and stopped by frequently to check up on us. My only complaint is that the restaurant is not baby friendly at all! They have a two door entrance that is only accessible if you go up a stair and hold the door open while trying to push a stroller through. It was just really difficult, and the hostess wasn't helpful at all. She just stood there and watched as I struggled, entering and exiting. They really need to work on that. read more

The selection was great, lots of interesting options. The food was good, I had soup and a salad (which came with a crazy large amount of fried chicken which is not exactly the thing you want when you order a light-sounding salad, but oh well). Bf got a lobster grilled cheese which was god but a bit bland. Service wasn't anything special, which is lame considering we were one of only four tables. The family and I all ordered burgers here. You get a double patty on a bun and a HUGE portion of fries -- I'd say 2-3x the fries I see in other places. The burgers tasted excellent. However, most of us had a problem with the buns, which are not well-equipped to handle all the stuff on it. These are difficult burgers to just pick up and eat unless you love a mess -- and hey, maybe that's a good thing. It means you get plenty of stuff. ;) Two warnings: The pig fries appetizer is HUGE portion. Probably too much for even 2 people. Be warned if you're an appetizer person. Other warning: The "steer herder" burger is supposed to come with "onion strings". To me that sounds like "Frizzled Onions". What they serve is not "onion strings", it's caramelized onions. Big difference, especially to someone like me who isn't a fan of an "oniony" texture. Still, this is easily 4-stars with how everything tasted overall. If you're not a fan of buns falling apart under the weight of the burgers, maybe knock it down to 3 stars. But let's face it, you're not coming here expecting a light meal, are you? read more
