The place looks different since I was here last so I'm assuming that the present decor is about 3 to 4 years old. Nicely done. We sat in the Sun room. Prices are commensurate with the venue. Lori, who has been employed here just 3days, did ok. See pix of what was consumed. Food decent. I came here on a very rainy day so it was pretty empty with the exception of a big party going on. Service was good, friendly and very attentive. My husband and I ordered the 'Cajun Pierogis' to start. My husband loved them. I thought they were okay, just tasted like a regular pierogi to me with some Old Bay seasoning. For our entrees, my husband got the special which was the 'Cajun Mahi Mahi' which was a HUGE portion with rice and broccoli. The broccoli was very hard with no seasoning but the rest of the meal he enjoyed. I ordered a salad and appetizer for my entrée which was the 'Stuffed Avocado' which was exactly as it says... a stuffed avocado. It was good, nothing more nothing less. I also ordered the 'Burrata' salad which is where I have a problem. I don't think you could really call this a salad. There was barely any lettuce on the plate and it was $14. This place was a cute little sports bar type restaurant in Sea Girt. The staff were friendly, but our server didn't show up much. However, this was some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Early Saturday evening before Mother's Day, my husband and and I met my daughter, son-in-law, and my three grandchildren for dinner. The restaurant was pleasant and accommodating. The staff was attentive and friendly. It took my son-in-law four times to finally get a draft beer that they hadn't run out of. My daughter ordered a pineapple margarita that tasted of orange juice instead of pineapple. The menu looked appealing but it the food wasn't as flavorful as we had hoped. The potatoes leak soup was lacking flavor. My daughter ordered the pasta with clams, which was one of the specials. It had a very strong fishy smell, which is unusual for clams. They liquid in the pasta looked like dirty dish water. Needless to say, she ate the clams and ate a portion of her husband's burger. My pizza had zero flavor as well. I shared a slice with each grandchild and it wasn't appealing to them either. They all got mozzarella sticks, 7 sticks for $9 was a decent price. I wasn't happy with my meal. The appetizer with short ribs and black beans had a chipotle aoili all it. It was an enormous serving and no indication it could have served at least 4 or 5 people. I would have enjoyed it without so much hot sauce, but that is because I personally can't handle spicy. The short ribs were good. My partner's fish did not taste fresh, but the batter part was ok. Fries were mediocre. I was disappointed. I had been here a few years back and all appetizers and salads were good. My Caesar salad tasted of lots of mayo. I went for dinner with a group of 6. The service was a bit slow for dinner service. I ordered a salad for my entree and I went to mix in my salad dressing and as I was mixing a saw a dead fly in my salad. I was extremely repulsed by this as it was clearly in the romaine mix to begin with. I informed the waitress and she apologized and gave me a free drink token. She brought me another salad and did my take this off of the bill which I found to be I absurd that I was being charged for a salad that has a dead bug in it to begin with. I was no longer hungry after seeing the dead fly so I did not eat my salad. I will not be eating at Reef & Barrel in the future after this experience. read more

This is my first time here, and I will say, it has potential. We arrived early and it was a little bit dead. Now, it's closer to 7 o'clock and it's filling up. On Wednesday nights the band is setting up. The burgers were very good the lobster mac & cheese very good. Overall the portion sizes are a little small size but I enjoyed it. I am absolutely so sad about this! Been bringing a whole group here every year for cheesy pizza goodness. Like ninja turtle, pull the piece apart and the cheese strings out a mile long, pizza. We were served burnt, crispy pizza this last time around, and we waited forever for it. If we weren't so hungry we would have probably realized we should have sent it back sooner than all of us grabbed slices and started nibbling. You could literally break the pizza in half with a cracking sound while all the pieces of crust crumbled to the tray. The place looks beautiful, but I'm not sure what's going on with the food now that it's not Edgars. I hope this was just a fluke, but it was truly disappointing. Looks nice from afar..... I work in the service industry so I try to be understanding and patient but this was a completely disappointing experience and I would not recommend to my hotel guest where I work or to any one reading. Went on a Friday night around 8pm the restaurant was seemingly empty. It took 10minutes for a hostess to actually come up to the stand and seat us. Ordered cocktails, appetizer and entrees almost immediately as we sat. Seemed to have a serious lag time for how long everything took to get to the table, and in pieces. The appetizer took almost 45mins to reach our table and when it did it was burnt and not edible so we had to send it back to re order a fresh one. Our server continually disappeared so we had to get up and find other restaurant staff to obtain things so we could try to enjoy our meal. read more

A bunch of friends decided to grab drinks after work on the rooftop and it was the perfect temp outside! I requested to have the US Open match on the TV and Rachel, our waitress made it happen! She was super friendly, polite, and overall full of smiles! We ordered drinks, split two apps, and then shared some more food! The Nachos and Pretzel Bites were perfect for starters! I ordered the Fried Goat Cheese and OMG was it delicious! I mean I could have eaten 4-5 helpings! Just the right amount of fried cheese! Can't wait to return soon! read more

These fools wouldn't let me two OF AGE friends in because they had out of state IDs. They had second forms but they wouldn't accept them because they didn't have their passports on them. It doesn't help that both of these friends were POC. The same bouncer also shoved some random kid because he tried to show a second form. All the while, I know of several underage people who were inside. I guess their ID policy only applies to out of state people! The only reason I didn't give 1 star is because honestly it's fun sometimes. To the bald bouncer, your wife is cheating on you. I hope you find your inner peace. read more

Love all the renovations that were done. Reef and Barrel is huge and has a super open layout. There's a large bar with a bunch of TVS, great if you're looking to watch games. They also have live entertainment. Food: Mini wild boar tacos - a nice light appetizer that has great flavor, the chipotle slaw was the perfection addition. I've never really had boar before but its very comparable to ground beef but I think its leaner...very good! Veggie pressed sandwich: yum yum yum, if you're a veggie and goat cheese lover, this is for you. I'm crazy about goat cheese so as soon as I saw it in the description I was sold. The marble rye bread was also very tasty. Also, I swapped out chips for fries with my sandwich. The fries were the real skinny ones and were nice and crisp just how I like them. The service was on point and there's also a good beer selection. I would definitely come back to Reef and Barrel to try a burger (because I've heard that's what they're known for) and I would recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

Stopped in on a Friday night in January. Plenty of tables. It was 2 for 1 burger night but we opted for some small plates to share. Ordered the sliders, shrimp Mac and cheese and the brussel sprouts with bacon. The sliders were great and in hindsight we should have gone with the burgers. The Mac and cheese was fairly tasteless, as were the sprouts. The Prosecco was chilled perfectly! Nice atmosphere, our waiter was delightful. Stopped in at the roof deck for a drink and bite during a bike ride on a hot saturday. At 130 there was only two other people on the roof. Asked the bartender if they had fresh squeezed oj for a vodka drink and I was told it's down stairs, it will take a few minutes to make. I wouldn't have minded waiting a couple minutes but the girl made me feel as if it was a nuisance. Settled for a vodka club and did enjoy 2$ off tequila shots when the train went by. Ordered steak tacos and they were pretty good. They were served with Pico De Gallo and sour cream and a side of tortilla chips. Found it odd the give you tortilla chips with nothing to dip it in. The Pico was there but there wasn't much of it, it barely was enough for our three tacos. Won't rush back but next time I'll try their burger. read more

I will never be coming back here. Staff was extraordinarily rude. Was impolitely addressed by a staff member outside before even walking into the restaurant. IDed at the door to get in to eat lunch, then IDed a second time just to sit at our table to get a burger. Would be fine if any of the staff were somewhat kind and polite like people who work at restaurants and want customers to come back. The absolute rudest bartenders and bouncers in the entire world. Have no problem calling you names and putting their hands on you. Called early today to see if I needed reservations for a family dinner in the evening around 5pm, answer was no. Nothing else was stated to me as far as events. I arrived at 5:10pm to find the parking lot roped off. Had to park elsewhere. Walked up an was noticed a table and said cover charge $20.00. I asked what was going on and an event was happening at 6pm. I then asked for a table for a party of 8, and was told to seat myself outside, but the menu is half of the inside menu, but if I wasn't gone by 6, everyone in my group had to pay the 20.00 cover fee. I was irate, I was never told on the phone about an event, they should have told me as I had family coming from south jersey and north jersey. I then asked for inside table, the restaurant seating area inside was dead. They had to set a table up for 8, these kids had no clue in how to set a table, they left the forks wrapped in the paper in a pile, they left the plates on a pile. Our waiter was ok, but you can see he had no experience, the rest of these kids sat around and did nothing, when I asked a question, they gave me attitude. And, the hostess was more interested in her phone then give respect to a paying customer. She said "The manager is around somewhere, probably outside, but too busy to come in. Sorry!" We had to continually ask for drink refills, they have no table beer menue, I had to walk near the bathroom to see what they had, I first asked our server, and had had no idea, he said " you can go walk over and read the menue" i was shocked, any good host or hostess at least knows the beer menu. Overall, very bad of the restaurant to not let people who call know its an event nite with a cover charge, bad service, no drink menus at the tables, poor table service. My family said never again will we be back. I gave 1 star, just because the food was decent. read more

I totally understand Mondays are "light" for restaurants, with that said we decided to give R&B a try. At 6:30pm we were the only patrons in the entire place, no one at the bar we had some hesitation -- and decided to stay. We should have left -- ordered crab cake sandwich and lobster roll for each to have. Brioche bun for the crabcake was leftover from last week, lettuce leaf (could they spare it) was in same category. There was an ever so slight schmear of aioli on the lettuce. The cake was the better of the two sandwiches. Lobster roll was garlicky, mayo'd --served cold. Homemade grease soaked chips accompanied each plate -- that was it! For positives our wait staff was courteous. However with no other customers the remaining servers were glued to their phones - can't blame I guess with nothing else to do. We will not make a return visit to this place. I'm 15 and go to reef and beef quite frequently with friends. Since we are young we don't have that much money to spend, but we're always sure to tip at least 15% for good service. My friend and I went for lunch and our waiter told us that we didn't tip enough last time and we should tip 20% for good service. And sis he really had the nerve to say "good" service, meanwhile he was playing cards, on his phone, and we had to ask for ketchup and refills. Came here with a group for Irish music food and beverages. Appetizers were all delicious including fiery calamari, buffalo chicken wings, and joes beefsteak. Those went down easy with our drinks of beers, reef lemonade and wine etc. main courses were all a hit as well with special corned beef and cabbage, French dip (big), crab cake sandwiches, and steak quesadilla. Server was very friendly and attentive. Bar drinks were solid and music was fun and lively.
