    Fish & Chips - delicious
    Amiee L.

This place was a cute little sports bar type restaurant in Sea Girt. The staff were friendly, but our server didn't show up much. However, this was some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. I rarely order fish, because I do not like a lot of breading, but this was cooked perfectly and delicious. I would recommend.

    Dead fly in salad

I went for dinner with a group of 6. The service was a bit slow for dinner service. I ordered a salad for my entree and I went to mix in my salad dressing and as I was mixing a saw a dead fly in my salad. I was extremely repulsed by this as it was clearly in the romaine mix to begin with. I informed the waitress and she apologized and gave me a free drink token. She brought me another salad and did my take this off of the bill which I found to be I absurd that I was being charged for a salad that has a dead bug in it to begin with. I was no longer hungry after seeing the dead fly so I did not eat my salad. I will not be eating at Reef & Barrel in the future after this experience.

This is my first time here, and I will say, it has potential. We arrived early and it was a little bit dead. Now, it's closer to 7 o'clock and it's filling up. On Wednesday nights the band is setting up. The burgers were very good the lobster mac & cheese very good. Overall the portion sizes are a little small size but I enjoyed it. Good service, nice friendly waitress- attentive, good advice.

    Burnt cheese.

I am absolutely so sad about this! Been bringing a whole group here every year for cheesy pizza goodness. Like ninja turtle, pull the piece apart and the cheese strings out a mile long, pizza. We were served burnt, crispy pizza this last time around, and we waited forever for it. If we weren't so hungry we would have probably realized we should have sent it back sooner than all of us grabbed slices and started nibbling. You could literally break the pizza in half with a cracking sound while all the pieces of crust crumbled to the tray. The place looks beautiful, but I'm not sure what's going on with the food now that it's not Edgars. I hope this was just a fluke, but it was truly disappointing. I hope to be back to write a better review at some point.

Looks nice from afar..... I work in the service industry so I try to be understanding and patient but this was a completely disappointing experience and I would not recommend to my hotel guest where I work or to any one reading. Went on a Friday night around 8pm the restaurant was seemingly empty. It took 10minutes for a hostess to actually come up to the stand and seat us. Ordered cocktails, appetizer and entrees almost immediately as we sat. Seemed to have a serious lag time for how long everything took to get to the table, and in pieces. The appetizer took almost 45mins to reach our table and when it did it was burnt and not edible so we had to send it back to re order a fresh one. Our server continually disappeared so we had to get up and find other restaurant staff to obtain things so we could try to enjoy our meal.

    The best!

A bunch of friends decided to grab drinks after work on the rooftop and it was the perfect temp outside! I requested to have the US Open match on the TV and Rachel, our waitress made it happen! She was super friendly, polite, and overall full of smiles! We ordered drinks, split two apps, and then shared some more food! The Nachos and Pretzel Bites were perfect for starters! I ordered the Fried Goat Cheese and OMG was it delicious! I mean I could have eaten 4-5 helpings! Just the right amount of fried cheese! Can't wait to return soon!

They use olive oil over seed oils for example, and ingredients that actually make you feel good after you eat. We started off with the raw bar--fresh clams that tasted like the ocean in the best way. Then we had to try the famous tuna pizza, and wow! I get the hype now. It was the perfect combo of crunchy, creamy, and salty and I'll be dreaming about it for days to come! The garlic shrimp was delicious and had a savory juice, something you'd find in a Spanish tapas restaurant which was perfect for bread dipping. The spaghetti with clams was a classic but elevated dish and came with a generous portion. We tried the ahi tuna lo mein from their specials and that was a fun addition. It doesn't taste greasy so don't expect takeout quality. Their sushi was seriously impressive and some of the best I've had in NJ. We got the kamikaze roll, ninja roll, and chef's nigiri. Totally fresh and easy to eat. Even the mocktails were next level. We tried the Heat Wave and Chicha Sour. Both so unique and had us feeling refreshed after, not sluggish. Of course we ended with dessert. The banana bread pudding made in-house was a huge treat. So delectable and moist. The lemon sorbet was a great way to cleanse our palate and was very refreshing. This place is where high-quality meets creative! Even the ambiance reflects their sustainable beliefs. They have a beautiful coastal inspired design in a minimalist way, using lots of natural textures in the designs. The service was fantastic and attentive. I will be recommending this to all my family and friends!

This year it was not really good...it was great! We started with grilled calamari and scallops that were resting on a creamy lobster sauce with a small amount of caviar garnishing the top of the scallops. Both dishes left us wanting more. Fortunately the entrees that followed were equally beautiful dishes that tasted amazing. My wife had a salmon special that was served with broccoli rabe. She was raving and so was the gentleman at the next table...like a chorus of praise! I had the fjord trout, served on a bed of perfectly cooked lentils. I have had, and very much enjoyed, trout in the past but this was my first fjord trout. It was so good. One of those meals you close your eyes and smile reminiscing about. We capped the meal with tres leches cake...one of my favorites. It was done perfectly moist but not mushy...sweet but not too much. Our waitress was a sweetheart! It's kind of a small place so it was a little noisy but not in an overbearing way. Quite frankly the food was so good Slayer could have been playing a set in the middle of the room and it wouldn't have distracted from the meal one iota. Spring Lake Seafood is a gem. Well...well worth the trip.

The dark accents with all of the greenery was a great touch. When you come to Olea, think "Steakhouse". Entrees are ordered separately from sides and all portions are large and filling. Cocktails were very good. They start you off with bread and mixed olives. All of the food was delicious! I'm not a fan of oysters, but others at the table raved about them. We had Lobster Mac, Scallops (6), Brussel Sprouts & Halibut. We had no room for dessert because again, the portions were large. It's a high end restaurant, pricey, but the quality is there. Service was excellent from everyone. Valet, hostesses, all wait staff. Olea is great for large parties, special occasions or just a night out. We surely will return.

They were barely half full and the noise was not extremely loud. I had the New England clam chowder and as usual it was a great start to the meal. Plenty of clams and potatos in a creamy white sauce. To start the meal they also provided bread sticks with sesame seeds which is a real nice alternative to dinner rolls. With the sticks they also providing a dipping sauce that really tasted great. This the only place I can remember having breadsticks during dinner and loved it. For dinner I had stuffed flounder with rice and vegetables. The fish was prepared real well and came with plenty of crabmeat and stuffing. Inside it was real moist and tasted great. Along with that was rice and mixed vegetables. In the restaraunt the vegetables were a bit harder then I would prefer but when I reheated the meal at home they were perfect. But if you you are an al dente vegetable they would be fine for you. My wife picked something off the specials of the day. Shrimp, Mahi, broccoli, mushrooms, pine nuts all over rice. She felt this was a great meal and would definitely get it again. It was a nice blend of a bunch of tastes and textures, and the pine nuts are always a great addition to a meal. With less people to deal with the service was right on point, with several returns to our table to make sure everything was well. I feel you will always have a great meal here.
