I wanted to give these guys (JJ, George, Cooper) a shout out for doing a great job of recovering data for me from a 17-year-old external hard disk drive! My disk drive would not start up or allow me to access the data I had saved on it. My computer failed to recognize it. I called several places around town about getting the data off and onto a new drive. Most places said that they would have to ship the drive to a location out of town where they have a lab, and that it could cost anywhere between $600 to $1,300 depending on the assessment of the drive from the lab. I kept looking for other places locally who could recover the data and came across The Computer Hospital in Midtown. Long story short, I took my drive in, and they were able to open it, access the data, and successfully transfer the data to a new drive; all at a cost that was way lower than anything I had been quoted earlier. Amazing service from Rafael on a Saturday. My Windows 7 laptop unexpectedly stopped receiving wifi. I spent 1+ hours trying to decipher cryptic error messages to no avail. I don't trust this place with my eyes closed. I went in for data recovery and decided not to pursue but then left with a broken screen. They claimed they didn't take my Mac apart but I went to another expert and he stated that the screws were loose. That was not the case before I brought my laptop into this place. I shouldn't have checked it throughly before I left. Be cautious when going into the place. The lady on the phone tried to tel me I knew I had this problem when that was not how my laptop was when I gave it to them. And the bottom tray was taken off. They probably did this so I could buy a new screen through them. Be warned when coming here!! Update: owners response is false. They damaged my computer and now I'm out a camera. Thank you Yelpers for recommending this place! My computer suddenly stopped powering on, precisely when I needed it...figures. I called first to make an appointment, but the nice man told me they take walk-ins. The same day I brought it in and he diagnosed it in about 5 minutes as being a power supply problem (what I had hoped), and had me wait while they fixed it right away. These guys are AWESOME! I am writing this review on my freshly repaired (everything intact) computer! My computer took a nose dive Sunday evening. I sent a request in at 8:12PM, and had a response, with a VERY reasonable quote by 8:14PM! They were able to work on my computer very quickly, dropped it of Monday evening, it was done by lunch Tuesday. The total repair came in slightly under the initial quote. Excellent service as always. My laptop was bounced around with the manufacturer, microcenter and finally arrived here. After more than six months of neglect from the manufacturer, my laptop was fixed in under two weeks. They called me regularly to give status update. One additional issue was found and they did not charge labor charge on second part since the laptop was already taken apart. They tested my computer prior to giving me an estimate. The final price was over by $30 only because of the second part ordered. A few days after Christmas they said laptop is ready. After I arrived, they reviewed their checklist to verify laptop worked. This team is out of this world stellar!! My computer's hard drive was completely destroyed during a repeat power outage. I discovered this less than 24 hours before I was scheduled to host a virtual training for numerous employees. This business is fabulous! My computer did an automatic Windows update and wouldn't work. Twenty minutes to open and then it took me to a temporary account. I tried everything. I googled everything. My son worked on it. Every time we shut it down to try something new, it was 20-60 minutes to sign in again. I dropped by The Computer Hospital on a Sunday afternoon and explained what was happening. They said the would call me within 24 hrs to let me know what they had found. They called in about 4 hours. I went by the next day to a restored computer with a new hard drive. I took my PC for a repair, and the part cost $60-$70 at any store like Best Buy etc...they charged me $170 for the part (them buying it from their supplier) plus $100 for labor. I don't mind the $100 for labor, that's fine. But charging me $170 for a $60 dollar part is unacceptable. My total was nearly $300 with tax, for a $60 part. I didn't get a single phone call if I was okay with this either. They just called me and said it was ready and that the total was about $300. ADVICE; take your own parts and just pay them for labor. read more

Brought my computer in to have them figure out why it was failing to power up after I had already run through as much as I knew how (changed PSU, checked things on mobo with a tech, sent in mobo for warranty service). They found a damaged cable that was causing a short. They told me my RAID 0 had been broken and that my options were either to pay them $100 to reinstall my operating system (and lose all data) or $350 to just get the data from my RAID, both sounded outrageous to me. I took it home and went into the RAID BIOS, saw that it was still there and had the name I had given it, changed one setting in the mobo BIOS to tell it to read the array (setting must have been reset during warranty service) and boom computer starts up like normal. Moral of the story: They are either incompetent or tried to rip me off. But hey, if you can make sense of my review you probably dont use places like this, do you? read more

My first interaction with Computer Hospital would have gotten a five-star rating--they replaced my desktop's hard drive and recovered the data in less than two days. Unfortunately, the new hard drive appears to have a virus on it--which is not necessarily their fault--but when I called them, they insisted I had to take it in again rather than sending someone out here. There may be valid reasons for doing this, but they could at least offer to pick it up, considering I just brought it home (and paid them $250) less than 24 hours ago, and it's a big desktop that's not exactly easy to move. Or they could have at least expressed some kind of apology for the trouble or concern; the person I talked to on the phone didn't seem to care at all and mostly seemed annoyed. UPDATE: The virus issue was resolved more or less satisfactorily, with the verdict that the virus alerts were most likely false positives. They didn't offer to do their own scan to be sure, and I felt sort of uncertain--if they're wrong, it could be a really big deal--but I agreed it was the most likely case. Generally, I value results much more than service, so I'm increasing the rating to 4 stars. I know this is a tiny local business, not a big slick chain, but they could do with some customer service training. read more

I had a difficult situation with my computer - it was turning off and on randomly without allowing me to use it. The problem was very difficult to diagnose - they replaced some components and it was still having problems. We went through multiple iterations of dropping it off, trying something new, thinking it was working, then having the same problem. Finally, we figured it may be the case and replaced that. It seems to be working now. I believe Jamie and company were extremely dedicated to try to figure my problem out. He took ownership of the problem and spent a lot of time trying to diagnose the problem. I really do appreciate the help for something that was very difficult to diagnose. The Computer Hospital saved me thousands. My IT consultant tried to sell me on a new laptop with a lot of add ons and additional services. I took my i5 based Dell Latitude E5440 to TCH. They ran diagnostics (free!), installed the new SSD, added the malware protection I asked for and fully checked out the system. I got my laptop back in less than 1 business day and for a few hundred dollars. They also sell reconditioned laptops that have come off leases for a fraction of the price of a new one. Wow!!! Had problem with my 6 year old MacBook Pro's battery. Ordered a battery online and it would not fit. Tried 2 batteries to no avail. Called many shops and got the run-around. I did not even have to take my computer in, I called the guys and they walked me through what they thought the issue could be with my Wi-Fi card on my all-in-one Dell. It did not end up being my Wi-Fi card but they made me feel very comfortable about doing a computer refresh back to a point of time. It saved all of my files and all I had to do was reload software.
