This is what they call Teriyaki Chicken
    Kimberley K.

Would be one, but my husband said his pork chop was ok. This is the only chicken teriyaki my daughter and I won't eat. It is like a weird spicy soup with the worst chicken ever in it. Don't call this teriyaki chicken. It's a liquid mess of bad tastes. And this is definitely not a top rate Calamari. Not cheap and I'm starving cause it's not edible. Impossible to talk to hostess as she could hardly hear the order to begin with. I'm so disappointed.

Decided to give the Coop a try since it's one of the most recent "new" Blacksburg restaurants that I'm unfamiliar with. I ordered the sexy summer lemonade with vodka soda and phew it was a stiff drink and may have been more enjoyable in a glass over a plastic cup but aye it's a college town bar. As for the food, the food was underwhelming and nothing crazy BUT the main reason for the 4/5 stars verses a lower score is the BRUSSEL SPROUTS! These brussel sprouts are some of the best brussel sprouts I've had in town! My boyfriend's brother even said they slapped and that's coming from someone who dislikes everything green. Definitely would wanna come back for these brussel sprouts!

Seared tuna with house sesame crackers and tamari wasabi sauce

Came here on a date with my husband. The decor is awesome and very artsy-industrial. We came in and it took a little bit to be seated. We were seated at a table with a bench and chair. The chair was very uncomfortable. Don't expect to have a private conversation. It is loud and the seats are close together. However coming here with a small group of friends would be good. We placed an order for the pimento cheese appetizer. The server took the order and walked away before we could order our main dish. When she brought the appetizer out, she asked if there was anything we wanted to add. Weird, but OK. The pimento cheese appetizer was amazing. I honestly could have just been happy with that as a meal. I had the seared tuna with house sesame crackers and tamari wasabi sauce. So very good. I could have drank the sauce - except for that whole spiciness thing. Husband had the house smoked trout with potato horseradish scallion salad. I almost wish I had that too. The smokiness was perfect. The only issue and one of the reasons why I give the Coop four instead of five stars, is that the trout had tiny bones still in it. My husband was thrilled with the taste of the fish, but the bones took away from the experience. It took a while to get the check, but the atmosphere was geared toward taking your time and enjoying the meal. We will definitely be back!

Oh WOW! This place is amazing. We are in town for business and popped in here on our last night. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I started with their salmon chowder. -I know, right?! I have never had salmon chowder. It was AMAZING. Then I had the fish and fries. The batter on the fish is very light and the fish inside is flaky and cooked to perfection. The fries that accompany are cut in house and delicious. Lastly, their oven roasted vegetables have the perfect balance of butter and garlic. Lastly, the bread pudding is on point! It is freshly baked, so you have to wait for about 20 minutes... but well worth it! Bottom line, I am going to sleep well tonight!! What a wonderful experience!

The covered patio is fantastic--it sits perfectly between buildings, creating a light, refreshing breeze that makes outdoor dining incredibly comfortable. There's also an ample amount of seating, so you never feel cramped. The service is just as impressive as the atmosphere. Our first server, Cassidy, was so amazing that we specifically requested her on our second visit. As for the food, you really can't go wrong. My husband, mother-in-law, and I tried the Philly cheesesteaks and tortellini on day one, and followed it up with the baked ziti, manicotti, and broccoli Alfredo on visit number two. Our pasta entrée's came with a fresh tossed or Caesar salad, and they start you off with warm, soft bread that has the perfect crust. The portions are incredibly generous (expect leftovers!), making the pricing very reasonable. For my husband and me, our bill was only around $45 including soft drinks. We love this spot for lunch and can't wait to come back for dinner and drinks!

The Cellar is one of those restaurants where you might wonder, "Do they have ...?" And the answer…read morewill probably be, "Yes, they do have that on the menu." They have gyros, meatball subs, pizza, burgers, crab cakes, kabobs, chicken parmesan and lots more. I get a little squinky when I see a multiple-page menu with lots of random foods on it. But I visited with a group, and so I was locked into this place, whether I liked it or not. A quick internet and Yelp search told me that the things to get at The Cellar are the Greek gyro and the pizzas. I didn't want a whole pie just for myself, so I ordered the gyro. The Greek gyro was really good! It is lamb and beef in a pita, topped with tzatziki, lettuce, onion and tomato. All of the veggies were super fresh, and the pita was warm and pillowy. It's served with chips and a pickle. They actually have quite a few Greek or Mediterranean-adjacent items on the menu. One of the people in my group ordered the Black & Blue Salad, which is basically a salad with steak and bleu cheese on it, plus lots of vegetables. It was huge! She ate a lot of it, and it looked like she barely made a dent. When she put the leftovers in the to-go container, she almost needed two containers! It became a running joke that day and for a couple of days afterward about whether or not she actually finished that salad. This is also the location for the 6Pak Bottle Shop, which is basically a liquor store but intensely curated. They have a nice selection of craft beers and wine. There is also a bar downstairs, which I didn't have the pleasure of visiting. Another great thing about The Cellar is that they are open late! Sometimes until midnight, and sometimes until 2 a.m. I guess that makes sense, as they are located basically right across the street from Virginia Tech.

The Cellar has a basement bar. We snagged a few bar seats. The bar server was great. He provided us waters. He quickly took our cocktail orders and made some very delicious cocktails. My sour apple martini was so good that that a second one was in front of me quickly. One of us ordered a full sandwich meal and that sandwich looked humongous and full of meat. We also ordered sides of curly fries. These were fried fresh. It's somewhat of a dark speakeasy vibe. The crowd was tame compared to some of the other bars down the street. We hope to try the full restaurant in our next visit.

The waitress tried to pressure us into feeling bad for giving her over 10% tip stating she expected 20%. M'am respectfully, if you don't do anything beyond your job why do you expect 20%?! Last I checked, tips were meant as a bonus for doing an exceptional job. Just dropping off our food with a smile or taking our order with a smile is the bare minimum when you're in a service oriented job. Not sure when people started becoming so entitled, but if you received a tip worthy of the work you did that should be enough. Definition of what a tip should be: A tip (or gratuity) is a voluntary, discretionary sum of money given by a customer to a service worker (e.g., servers, barbers, valets) as a token of appreciation for a service performed, over and above the base price. Overall, food was good. The staff just made a scene and made everyone at the table feel uncomfortable. It was a party of 4 we got a few drinks and appetizers I think in total we spent like $60. So it's not like it was a gigantic group and she was working her arse off.

I've been to this place a few times, and haven't really found anything on the menu that I've liked…read more I've given it multiple chances, but I've found this restaurant to be quite overhyped. The person making my food was not wearing gloves, which is not sanitary, and I did not observe him washing his hands before preparing it. So far I have tried the lamb over rice, spicy pasta, calzones and the pizza. The pizza and the calzone are fine, but I've gotten sick from the pasta both of the times that I have tried it, and the small amount of shrimp for the massive portion of pasta made me a little sad. The lamb over rice was alright, but I found the portion of meat was pretty small, which was the best part of the dish, and the lettuce was wilted and some pieces were brown and slimy so I had to pick them out. All their food is ridiculously greasy, which is great if that's what you are looking for, but I personally prefer my food with a little less oil. There is very limited seating and is very cramped, so be prepared to take it home and eat it. The wait times can be a little long, so definitely order online beforehand. It's open very late, so this place is probably best experienced coming back from a night out.
