The place was full when I arrived and they had a waitlist. The people working were dressed nicely. I've always loved how unique and gorgeous the Cooper Lounge is! I came here after seeing a show around the corner during the week and it was nice and relaxing. There was not an attendant on the ground floor so I wasn't sure if we should just walk up or not. Once we just went on up the host was so nice and helpful. We came here before dinner and ended up staying for 2 hours missing our reservation. The ambiance here is amazing. You would have no idea this lounge was on the 2nd floor of Union Station and it gave it this speakeasy feel almost. Sitting up there we had an incredible view of the city with the sun setting. The lounge was comfortable making it easy for you to stay awhile the drinks were mixed perfectly. We tried a few different ones from the Moscow mule to a cucumber cocktail. The server was attentive and gave great drink recommendation. They ever serve gourmet food that was being cooked right behind us. We highly recommend coming here it is worth the price and the perfect place to start your night (or end it or spend all night here!!!) read more

I knew I had to come here when I saw photos of the bar. Cooper Lounge is located on the second floor of the Union Station. We went up to the hostess at the bottom of the stairs and were informed that there was a waiting list. We put our names on the list and decided to go grab a sandwich from the shop right next door because we were starving. Just as we got the sandwich, we got the text that told us our seats were ready. We asked the hostess if it was okay to bring the sandwich up since we didn't get to eat it, and she said yes. We went up the stairs and were seated at the bar. The marble counter top and gilded details give the place a classy look. For drinks we got the blackberry pisco sour ($15) and the Whistle Pig boulevardier ($21). They came in fancy little silver trays with a side of bar mix. The drinks were good, but pricey...my partner said that the boulevardier was solid but also basic. Then the bar manager informed us that we weren't allowed to bring outside food in when he saw the sandwich, which was a little embarrassing. We told him the hostess gave us the ok, and he said he'll have a "talk" with her, whatever that means. Service was overall friendly. They also serve food here which looked good but we didn't order any because we ate the sandwich lol. read more

Absolutely love this place, and since moving to Denver, this has been my favorite bar I've been to! My boyfriend and I came here on our anniversary, which I noted on the reservation, and they surprised us with champagne! Before I get into the drinks, let me just say that the vibes of this place alone deserve five stars. The furniture was beautiful and it was just such a beautiful place I couldn't get enough! When we were seated they immediately brought us water, and while we looked at the drink menu, the prices were higher than expected, but we weren't too surprised given the venue space. But let me tell you, the price was well worth the drinks. You get a beautifully crafted cocktail served on a silver platter WITH reusable straw, and a little bowl of nuts to much on! Located on the mezzanine of the historic Union Station overlooking The Great Hall. The Cooper Lounge serves a collection of craft cocktails and an extensive wine list. Was there during Happy Hour for a quick drink while doing some people watching. They also have some small bites specials during happy hour. My mom and my best friend went to visit Denver and we discovered this place. Everything was EXQUISITE. From the decor and ambiance to the service, food, and drinks. Emily is an incredible server and so sweet! What an experience. Highly recommend the bloody Mary, the espresso martini, the shrimp cocktail, the breakfast platters, the bruschetta, and the crabcakes. My mother said that the truffle deviled eggs were delicious! I unfortunately don't eat bacon and it's in the dijonaise so I didn't try those but those are supposed to be fantastic too. Drinks are pricey for what they are, even when taking into consideration the "experience" factor. Their overall quality and presentation is really good. Came here for the first time for happy hour a week ago. While it is still pre-Christmas (and pre-Thanksgiving) for that matter, I was transported to a winter wonderland in Union Station which was all dolled up for the holidays. This definitely contributed to the already cozy vibes of Cooper Lounge which sits on the balcony above Terminal Bar. I had made a reservation for 5:30 and due to traffic, my friends were almost 30 minutes. My waitress was more than accommodating and didn't make me feel guilty for sitting there by myself. She even let me order some HH drinks for them prior to when they arrived. The drinks are great- they all come on a little silver tray with a little nut mix. Great if you are starving and waiting for your party to arrive! The atmosphere is top notch- super cozy and sexy. Would be great for high end after work drinks or a date spot. Drinks are on the higher end of price point but you're getting what you pay for - paid $18 for an espresso martini and it was the best espresso martini I've ever had. Food was awesome and bar staff was attentive and fun to talk to. Would recommend making a reservation but we were able to wait at a standing table for about 10 minutes before seats opened up at the bar and this was on a Saturday night so it's not impossible if you don't have one as long as your party is small. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I came here after dinner reservations at a nearby spot due to its close location, This place is an absolute disaster. DO NOT GO. Our server, Jeremiah, began amicably and our experience started out wonderfully. Hostess gave us a booth and we put in our drink orders, and were SO excited about the ambiance in Union Station as we are visitors. Quickly, it went downhill. Jeremiah was nowhere to be seen after 15 minutes and no drinks, but we remained positive about the experience and didn't comment. We put in an order for another round of drinks and appetizers when he eventually showed up (20 minutes later!). I might add - the bar was not busy as there was a basketball AND baseball game happening, only one other booth occupied. Another twenty minutes went by. We commented on the delay to the manager (named Carmine), and after my boyfriend excused himself to the restroom. In the meantime to lighten the mood, I decided to go to the bar to try to personally place an order in case it was an issue with Jeremiah and not the place itself. I was refused service by a man with glasses and a bowtie, and when I questioned the reasoning, the manager (Carmine) came up and asked my boyfriend and I to leave. When I insisted to know why, Carmine said we were 'too out of place and her employees felt uncomfortable serving us'. I requested a breathalyzer, further reasoning etc. and she repeated the same motto of 'you don't belong here.' This place is DISGUSTING AND PREJUDICE. My boyfriend paid and we left. If you do not fit the status quo - DO NOT COME HERE. We were treated like absolute garbage. read more

This bar is stunningly decorated with one of a kind chairs and tables. The view from the top overlooking the rest of the station is a major added bonus. Pockets aren't fat? Then make it a place for special occasions only. $50 for 2 cocktails (w/ tip) may be beyond most to make this a regular haunt. But if pockets are deep, then a once or thrice a week visit will suffice. Parking is street, lot, or a deck around the corner. The Cooper Lounge is one of Denver's most sophisticated and urbane new drinking spots. Located above the Terminal Bar in the just-renovated Union Station, this place is so cool I almost had to return home for a vicuna scarf to wrap around my Canali be-suited neck. Ordered me a Pimm's Cup and a dozen oysters, shucked (hope I spelled that correctly;) right in front of my honey and me by the nicest shucker I've met in years, who was hustling around with an upscale oyster cart, going from table to table selling those delicious East Coast ocean gems. My baby had their cheapest glass of sauvignon blanc, and the bill came still came to $80, without tip. So you wanted to know how to be ultra cool for 1/2 hour and blow a Franklin? Now ya know. But listen: It really was a wonderful experience. The view looking down into Union Station seriously rocks, and the view out the enormous original windows looking east up 17th Street provides one of the grandest views of our lovely city that can be had from just above street level. Check out the attached photos and then check out the lounge; and if you can avoid the oysters (or the lobster salad or the shrimp cocktail) that you'll hear calling your name, maybe you can get out of there for 1/2 of what we spent. One of our friends mentioned this place to us as an alternate to the terminal bar and we're so happy we found it! Absolutely delicious drinks served on silver trays with a little cup of mixed nuts. The service was great and the view of holiday decorated Union Station was beautiful. So I love this place for the atmosphere and service. Everytime I come back - it's like 1920's meets elegance with the white noise that overlooks what is happening in Union Station. Things to Note: 1) Yes, there is food - but you mainly come for cocktails and wine. 2) Lots of nuts lying around for all you people that are extra sensitive. I've taken out of towners here twice and both times we were met with a wildly inflated ego doormen who treat the bar like it's the ultimate velvet rope experience. Hey guys, your just a bar renting space in a public building. Most recently, we walked in an put our names down for 6 people. When he texted us, we returned and he said we only said 2 people and wouldn't seat us in a near empty bar- someone in our group counted 40 open seats! Why, because were were about 60 years old and the snotty child host wanted younger people? Was it our shared religion? Or does the host have such low self esteem that this is how he feels better about himself? Our group was from L.A., NYC, and San Francisco. Although the drinks are a little overpriced, what you're really paying for here is the ambience. It's on the second floor of Union Station and you can look out over the main floor. The decor is very classy and elegant. Your drinks are served on little silver trays with a small cup of a nut mix. The drinks themselves aren't bad, although I've had better cocktails. I had a "Pom fizz" which was supposed to be pomegranate but actually tasted just like pink lemonade. My boyfriend's old fashioned was much better. We actually came to Cooper Lounge last year when we visited Denver, before we moved here, and I remember my drink being better that time (although I don't remember exactly what it was I got...) It's a nice place to come for a drink with a date, although I wouldn't necessarily stay there for too long. It's a good spot for quiet after dinner drinks. read more

She was on her phone FaceTiming a friend and was inconvenienced by us when came up to the wait stand. Further more, she was extremely rude calling me an 'ass****' after we ordered a cocktail. We came here a second time, and EXACT same experience. There was a couple in front of us who she was very rude too. She was on her phone again!!! we made reservations for the grand opening of the Cooperland this past SatMyrdal and we were all in our late 50s and early 60s. We were excited to see the new place and once we arrived at the front hostess desk. We were told that we had to show ID. three of us had our licenses and since the fourth drivers license had on their phone and airlines police find this appropriate. We were told we were not allowed to enter unless we had proof of this and when asked why, us all being grandparents, we were told it had nothing to do with our age, but to be proven that we are legal persons which makes absolutely no sense. We travel the world we've been to multiple states around the United States and never had this issue. I'm extremely disappointed when we were looking forward to seeing the new design. we will never go there again. We retreated, extremely rudely and embarrassed in a crowd, and we hope that this new endeavor fails immediately with these stupid racist policies. read more

Speakeasy inside Union Station, how great is that? This place is a gem! I love the clean granite with copper finish vibes. With the big windows Union Station has, the ambience is divine. Came here at opening (4:00pm) on a Monday and was delighted to be seated at the bar without a prior reservation. They do have a happy hour, but their main cocktail menu was too hard to pass up. 5/5: Whistle Pig Boulevardier. If you prefer a spirit forward drink, old fashioned type of person, then I highly recommend this drink. 5/5: Blackberry Pisco Sour. Great twist on a traditional Pisco Sour. Well balance drink, not too sweet, and the egg white foam layer was executed well (see photo). 4/5: French 75. I am not a champagne or mimosa kind of person, but if I must then this is the mimosa type of beverage I want. Great Hennessy forward drink with bubbles. 4/5: SoCal Paloma. Substituted mezcal to have a more Smokey forward drink. Very light and fitting for a hot summer day. Our bartender was very sweet and attentive.
