We love this place - it has a modern but old world feel - and a fun/different view of unuin station being at a higher level/at the same level as the giant sconces/lighting. We sat at the bar, and our bartender was wonderful/super attentive. We used our Denver passbook for two for one old fashioned's, which were delicious. I also love the tray, and personal snack mix that you receive with your cocktail. We ordered the deviled eggs, which were the perfect snack/appetizer. While in Denver for the night, my girlfriends and I decided that we were going to grab an after-dinner cocktail at The Cooper Lounge as it had popped up on a few must visit bar lists for Denver and was walking distance to our lodging. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed as it sits on the second floor of the historic Union Station and is absolutely beautiful. The vibe is classy and I really felt like I was sitting in a bar back in the 50's. I could have sat there all night soaking it all in. With that said, I did NOT want to sit there all night as we were hoping to get back to our hotel in time to take a dip in the hot tub before it closed! Unfortunately, that did not happen as our server had zero sense of urgency. We were 1 of 3 groups in the entire bar as it was a Monday evening, and yet, it would take her nearly 20 minutes to come by to ask if we needed anything else, even when our drinks were noticeably empty. This was also what I would consider a bourbon/whiskey bar as the majority of the menu was bourbon or whiskey based drinks and our server had no idea what my cousin-in-law meant when she asked for a specific bourbon chilled. She kept asking if that meant on the rocks, or stirred, or shaken....I don't drink bourbon and even I know what was being requested. It was all just a bit awkward. The service here is always great. They constantly walk by making sure you don't need anything but, only ask if they notice you do. They are very attentive. Drink selection is the real winner here. Their classic old fashion is a must. If you are wanting to save money their happy hour drink menu is also great, they have a fabulous whisky sour. Appetizers are a hit or miss though. Just got paid? Friday night? Good! 'Cause that bank account better be full when you come here. Dimly lit on the second floor at Union Station. The vibe is sexy. You can dress casual or dress up for a special occasion. It is a quiet bar. Put your phone down (after you take pictures of course) and enjoy your night out with your friends or significant other. If fast, rushed cocktail service (mixed drinks and beer) is your thing then don't come here. Be patient. The bartenders here take their craft very seriously and it shows through the drinks. I highly suggest ordering a drink off of the menu. Wine and Champagne list is extensive as well. The cocktail server will pop the bottle at your table and place it on ice for you, if need be. We have been here twice. Once during happy hour on Sunday another on Monday for drinks before dinner. Our first visit we got 2 cocktails and the cocktail shrimp and dished out $60 bucks. That is expected. You can expect to pay $15 - $30 for a drink, but it is made with liqueurs and liquors you typically wouldn't buy at your local liquor store. So keep an open mind. My boyfriend and I come to The Cooper Lounge to forget about work and to spend some time together outside of our apartment. You should do the same. Treat yourself. You will not be disappointed. I visited Cooper Bar in Union Station last evening for a nightcap with a date and unfortunately, my experience was marred by an extremely rude staff member ( young lady, dark skin, very pretty). After waiting at the hostess stand for 3-4 mins, I approached the empty bar, the server said for us to go back to the stand and wait there. I replied we had and no one was there (the entire area was perhaps 10% full and the bar had one couple sitting there). Her reply again was, "go back and wait," which I replied that "we'll just leave, thank you" then received a snarky "good, good-bye" - disinterested and dismissive. I realize it was late but but not past closing time, being met with an eye roll and a curt response that felt more like an annoyance than customer service. Despite the bar's inviting atmosphere and promising menu, the negative interaction overshadowed everything, which you can read in other reviews. It's disappointing to see such a lack of professionalism in a place that could be great. I hope management addresses this issue, as I won't be returning anytime soon. My friend brought me here for drinks before our dinner reservations at Mercantile. I was in town for business and had a free evening and asked that we support some local downtown establishments. This lounge reminds a bit of the Parker Room in Grand Central Terminal in NYC. The cocktails were on point and served on an individual silver platter with nuts. The lounge can be hard to find if you haven't been there before. The checkin is down a hallway by Amtrak. The guy who was checking in was asleep standing up when I got there. Several of my friends said the same thing. Awkward! Once you check in, the bar is upstairs. We made reservations for a group of 10 and were seated right away. The decor is great and can't beat the views of the beautiful station. The service was good and she even brought another bench as 10 would've been tight with the seating we had. But lightening style. So back to the Cooper Lounge. Let me tell you a story about this gorgeous place. I've been here on three separate occasions with three very different dates over the course of three incredible years. First time, unforgettable. We got Old Fashions and Manhattans; it was our final stop after a wonderful night and stumbled home with big, fat smiles. Second time, it was more civilized and dainty with sweet conversations and Martinis. This third time was our second stop after Ultreia (see review--loved it) and we watched the lightening show through their massive windows, talked about how great Colorado is and paired it with their Lavender Gin Fizz and the Just Peachy. Perfect summertime drinks. Truly love The Cooper Lounge for its atmosphere, location and their awesome staff. Always professional, always present and so helpful! Maybe someday I'll order food. Wanted to try Cooper Lounge for some post dinner cocktails after reading about them for some time. The bar is located right above union station and is a nice change of pace and scenery from the bustling station down below. Cooper Lounge has a chic 1930's aesthetic from the seating, to the lighting, and vintage music playing. It transports you back to a different time and their cocktails they serve reflect this period period in time but are elevated. We were lucky to be sat overlooking the station which gave an added bonus to our time there, so be sure to see if you can sit by the railing when you visit. For drinks, we ordered the Lavender Gin Fizz and the Strawberry Rhubarb Vodka Collins. Both of these cocktails are takes on classic recipes from the era that Cooper Lounge is embodying and were both very refreshing. The Lavender Gin Fizz was light and had nice subtle notes of lavender. The Strawberry Rhubarb Vodka Collins was also very fruity and quite nice. Both drinks were very strong as well! Each drink is served on a silver tray with a little bowl of nuts which was a unique touch. We also ordered the strawberry creme brulee for something sweet and that was excellent. The caramelized sugar on top had a great crunch and the custard itself had a prominent strawberry flavor. All in all, Cooper Lounge was a really unique place with great drinks. Drinks are on the pricier side, but they are worth it so if you're looking for a unique bar to go to for a date or other occasion definitely check this place out. read more

Yes, you have an amazing view of the interior of Union Station but you also get all the heat that rises. So it was was quite warm. Beyond that, The Cooper Lounge was everything and more. We loved the intimate setting. Take note, you'll definitely need reservations ahead of time. The Cooper Lounge is tucked on previously said mezzanine so it's quite open. You'll get all the noise of the station too. But it's totally energizing. The menu is curated to perfection - come here for pre or post dinner drinks with your favorite people. We say plenty of dates, and a few girls-night-out happening. Everyone was dressed well - definitely dress to impress. The cocktails are expertly crafted. Each are beautifully made and photograph well. The prices reflect this. Definitely get the oysters and a champagne cocktail - it's just so good! Service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. It looked like a very cute bar in an area we would enjoy ourselves during our first time in Denver. We walked in a little after 8, the time of our reservation, and were sat at a table. Our server, Shannon, brought over waters and took our food order: Steak Tartar and Shrimp Cocktail, while we decided on drinks. We ended up ordering a round of drinks, all which we liked, and asked Shannon to take a group photo for us to commemorate our experience. She curtly responded that she would be able to after she made sure all of her tables were taken care of. The two food items we ordered took way longer than they should have and the manager brought them over while apologizing, saying they would take something off our check. Our server Shannon also complained about us asking for a picture to her coworker almost right in front of us and eventually another woman came over and offered to take a photo for us. We also saw our server Shannon take a photo for a table that sat down next to us right when and she reIt was awkward and we didn't see our server again until we were about to leave when she gave us the most ingenious apology ever. I was super disappointed that I had excitedly brought my friends there. Discrimination is a heavy word but my friends and I definitely felt unwelcome. Before leaving, two of my friends talked to the manager about our experience with our server and she informed them that the server was new and had multiple complaints already. She mentioned they would be remedying the situation by letting her go. Whether this was lip service or not it's seemed unprofessional. TLDR; not worth the trouble. Cooper lounge is but an area in the upstairs balcony in the Union Station building that was turned into a cozy spot. It seemed far away from the hustle and bustle of the busy area downstairs. There is a legit bar. Couches and a communal table enough for eight. You can sit at the Long bar or the communal table where we managed to score a couple of seats when a friend from Utah came to visit. My target spot to lounge is probably one of the couches by the bar for next time. A reservation is highly suggested. They're booked solid. They do take reservations two weeks in advance. I'm a happy hour fan here. Their mixed cheese and meat board is one of the best and loaded with very tasty treats. We couldn't finish it between the two of us. The cocktails I will have to go back for more. Whatever I had I think was #1 and it was light, refreshing but good. Looked good too:) I've often wondered what was the lady by the podium guarding downstairs? It was the Cooper Lounge. No reservation? Maybe they'll let you in but would give you a certain time parameter where you need to hightail out of there to open up the spot for people who actually have made a reservation. It's absolutely beautiful and stunning - the perfect place to take your visiting friends or go out on a date. Since it was so crowded, we could not even sit on the bench , as so many people were standing there waiting to get in. It was not at all what I requested!! I specifically requested a high top table, not Sitting low and looking at peoples legs! Ridiculous and Rude of her to sit us there ~ the worst table in Cooper Lounge! WE LEFT! After almost 1 hour to get to this point, and there was no way to enjoy conversation or food or drink as we were sitting low to ground & basically in a waiting area of crowds and legs and butts were our view. I have been to Cooper Lounge Every year for years when visiting family In Denver, this was the worst experience and basically spoiled our holiday gathering! Shame on you Cooper Lounge. You should have a roped off area where people waiting are not standing on top of the people at the very low tables! Those tables in the back should at least be high tables to avoid claustrophobia!!
