Speakeasy inside Union Station, how great is that? This place is a gem! I love the clean granite with copper finish vibes. With the big windows Union Station has, the ambience is divine. Came here at opening (4:00pm) on a Monday and was delighted to be seated at the bar without a prior reservation. They do have a happy hour, but their main cocktail menu was too hard to pass up. 5/5: Whistle Pig Boulevardier. If you prefer a spirit forward drink, old fashioned type of person, then I highly recommend this drink. 5/5: Blackberry Pisco Sour. Great twist on a traditional Pisco Sour. Well balance drink, not too sweet, and the egg white foam layer was executed well (see photo). 4/5: French 75. I am not a champagne or mimosa kind of person, but if I must then this is the mimosa type of beverage I want. Great Hennessy forward drink with bubbles. 4/5: SoCal Paloma. Substituted mezcal to have a more Smokey forward drink. Very light and fitting for a hot summer day. Our bartender was very sweet and attentive. She answered our questions and asked what we preferred. Being out of town she was quick to give suggestions without being asked. Overall, highly recommend! read more

We stayed at the Crawford hotel for a birthday celebration which was absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend. However, while we were getting ready for the evening, the birthday boy went to the Cooper Lounge where he was "greeted" by Mackenzie on her cell phone-FaceTime with her friend. She made it obvious that she was put out by having to end the conversation. The drink was placed at the bar and Mackenzie was nowhere to be seen until she came charging down the hall saying the drink cannot be put on the room. As he turned around she said "you a**hole". He then asked for her name which she wouldn't say but the bartender provided her name and then informed us that you can in fact put charges to the room if you are staying there. Needless to say, we had reservations at the Cooper Lounge later that night and we literally took pictures of Mackenzie on her phone on FaceTime while she blatantly ignored us and the couple in front of us. She is the absolute worst. She is completely unprofessional and rude and is a terrible representation of the entire establishment. read more

we made reservations for the grand opening of the Cooperland this past SatMyrdal and we were all in our late 50s and early 60s. We were excited to see the new place and once we arrived at the front hostess desk. We were told that we had to show ID. three of us had our licenses and since the fourth drivers license had on their phone and airlines police find this appropriate. We were told we were not allowed to enter unless we had proof of this and when asked why, us all being grandparents, we were told it had nothing to do with our age, but to be proven that we are legal persons which makes absolutely no sense. We travel the world we've been to multiple states around the United States and never had this issue. I'm extremely disappointed when we were looking forward to seeing the new design. we will never go there again. We retreated, extremely rudely and embarrassed in a crowd, and we hope that this new endeavor fails immediately with these stupid racist policies. read more

Great place on the second floor of Union Station. This is an elegant lounge with huge picture windows facing Wynkoop Street. Reservations are suggested as for good reason-- it gets full quickly. There are seats at the bar and you might be able to grab one or two. Our bartender was "Q"-- rather James Bondish sounding and a very skilled mixologist to boot. He actually introduced himself to us which these days is a rarity given they are moving at Warp Speed 9....our drinks were perfect. The selection of spirits was amazing and likewise for the wines. Great by the glass choices as well as bottle choices. This is a first class operation with small intimate tables seating 4-6 and an assortment of two tops. You won't feel crowded even though the seating area isn't all that deep. I had a chance to see some of the food items being delivered -- the shrimp cocktail had 5 Jumbo shrimp hanging off a large chilled bowl glass. Cocktail sauce and lemons garnish at $11. Fortunately Denver hasn't caught up to San Francisco in pricing. The cheese platter was huge and had an assortment of nuts, grapes etc arranged around the cheese offering. Bottom line, it's a lounge that is focused on drinks-- the food is secondary-- it's a bar after all but the food quality looks A1. They do a short rib plate for $15. Yes, $15. It's a full dinner. Considering how much you pay for drinks here you'd think the service would be impeccable. I went in for my birthday with a reservation at 6. We were told our table wasn't ready so we waited. At 6:10 we were taken upstairs to a vast area of very empty tables. We were given drink menus and asked about the appetizers. Our server said she would send out the chef with the cart of food. Not only did no chef ever show up we found out there's no food because a different server told a different table there was no food. Our server couldn't even bother to come inform us. The drinks were absolutely delicious. So delicious I wanted to stay for another one. We sat with empty glasses waiting to order another drink for around 30 minutes. By this point I decided it wasn't even worth it and walked to the host stand with my card and asked her for my check. She told me I needed to cash out with my server (which I assumed was the case) I let her know we hadn't seen our server in a really long time. Bottom line: if I'm paying $15 a drink treat me that way. I expect AT LEAST average service and this was ridiculous. My advice: it's not worth it. Go somewhere else. read more

Beautiful lounge. It's a great place to impress visitors. Reservations are recommended and usually not hard to get. It's nice to walk up and not have to wait. The space is comfortable and old-fashioned glamorous. The view is beautiful. The drinks, served individually on silver trays with cocktail nuts, are good. I have yet to try the food--it's usually an after-dinner spot for me. But from what I've seen, food is not simply an afterthought here. It's a spendy place to have a drink, but the glitz and glam make it worthwhile. There's no dress code, as evidenced by the folks wearing flip flops, shorts, and fanny packs on my last visit. But do yourself a favor and dress up a bit for this place. You'll look and feel like a VIP. read more

A place for feeling fancy! Located on the second floor of Union Station, Cooper Lounge has serious Gatsby vibes. The decor is swoon-worthy--velvet couches, brass lamps, and gorgeous vintage sconces. Their cocktails are a few more dollars than the Denver norm, between $13-17 each. They're served on silver platters with little bowls of pretzels and nuts though, making the extra few bucks worth it in my book. Head here for an elegant date night or an upscale post work drink. Once she verifies there is a spot available you walk up a two flights of stairs, pause and catch your breath (whew) and then walk down another hallway where you meet another hostess who seats you at the bar or a table in the lounge. You come to the Cooper Lounge for the classy atmosphere and the well-crafted drinks. The well thought out cocktail list is fun to choose from and is constantly changing. My drink of the moment is a Greyhound and I don't think I will ever find a better version than the one they serve here. All drinks are served on a silver tray with a small cup of nuts and pretzels. Any drink you chose will be phenomenal. The secrets out, Cooper Lounge is one of the top places for a drink in the evening. They also offer a light menu served by Lon, the Chef from ChoLon. Reservations recommended or you will likely have to endure some sort of wait. I guarantee a wonderful evening if you enjoy a drink at Cooper Lounge. read more

I've been to The Cooper Lounge, located on the 2nd floor within Union Station, on one occasion. I was really impressed with the ambiance and the stylish layout. The only downside is the lounge is rectangular shaped, and with a large group of people it can get kind of crowded. They do monitor the amount of people that they let in at any given time. This is good and bad. It definitely keeps the crowd to a minimum due to the small size, but it's also not always easy to get up there and have a drink due to the waiting list. I adore this place! We typically stay at the adjoining Crawford Hotel and this is where we typically start and then end our night out on the town. The star of the show here is the endearing and gregarious manager, Marcel. He is a gracious host with a wickedly sharp sense of humor and makes some fantastic craft cocktails. We love watching him in action charming all the guests. Cooper Lounge is rather small, so seating can be at a premium on busy weekend nights, but if you snag a chair with a view down 17th, you've struck gold- especially if a rare thunderstorm comes rolling in. The promise of perfectly prepared cocktail at Cooper is what keeps us plugging through the arduous drive past the expansive, pungent and and mind numbingly unattractive Texas Panhandle. read more

SO happy we came here. Union Station has really expanded since I was last in Denver and we came for Cooper Lounge which is on the second floor overlooking the busy station below. The atmosphere and decor is beautiful. We were sat at a low table with four chairs surrounding it, but there were couches and bar seating available as well. We received friendly, quick service and the presentation of the drinks was so nice! All drinks were served on individual silver trays with a little plate of spiced nuts. My wine came on the tray with an empty wine glass and a carafe full of merlot. Really nice touch and appreciated the little snack that was served with each beverage! This is definitely a must stop while in Downtown Denver and a great place for locals to bring guests. Will be back on my next trip! read more

The kind of place you take a girl to get expensive drinks after shes had her tongue removed. This way she can feel important, you can spend your money, and she won't know how sub par everything is. Went for happy hour and ordered the number 2 and my friend ordered the 3 we both agreed they were uninspired and my friends drink was bland. This joint also has ala cart food specials for happy hour. We got the shrimp ceviche tomato cups. The tomatoes weren't ripe. For a "daily" selection cart youd assume the chef in house would use in season and ripe vegetables or something thats good. So, I've been here a lot and I usually have GREAT service. If you're going to pay $10 a bevie, than great service is, in part, what you're paying for, right? Well this time it was horrible. Despite sitting at the bar, the bartender was so inattentive. Completely ignorant of the fact that I really didn't like the drink I ordered off their menu and it sat there full, even reached over it to hand me the bill. This isn't rocket science people. Our visit here was late in the evening after an ample meal, so all we needed was a little night cap. This certainly was the place to do it during our visit to Union Station and all it has to offer. The lounge is located up on the mezzanine overlooking the main hall. it is accessible from the north wing at the third floor stop on the elevator or from a steep set of historic stairs at the south wing near the Amtrak office. The seating is comfortable with both bar and lounge seating of sofas and armchairs. The view is especially nice right now as the main hall is decorated for the holidays with a tree extending up to the level of the balcony of the lounge. Our hostess was gracious and we were handed the electronic tablets that feature the entire menu of libations with extended descriptions. We had settled on the idea of some single malt and we were able to find one that we had never tried. Not many places can probably do that! It was served with some salted almonds, which was all that we needed that late. A tasty and friendly end to the evening. Everything about the visit was elegant yet comfortable. read more

We've come here many times (just me and my fiancé) and the staff is usually accommodating. The drinks are expensive, but the atmosphere and service is generally fine. However, we went for a birthday (party of 8) and the staff seemed extremely annoyed. Very unaccommodating, wouldn't come by often, bothered us about taking up chairs (when they were only about 40% full), and weren't kind at all to whose birthday we were celebrating. It's probably fine in the future for parties 2-4, but forget about good service at any party more than that. Pretty lousy night for such an occasion. read more

I wanted to write a great review for this place but I had high expectations going in. The setting can't be beat and I would recommend to anyone. The decor and atmosphere is really incredible. However, the 3 stars is for the service. I understand it just may have been a new staff member so I will review again. Unfortunately, at a place where cocktails are $12 plus, I expect great service and that was not the case. The menus were iPads which was cool but they didn't work. After getting drinks, which all came separately (odd) and some had to wait over 15 minutes to get, we had to ask for napkins, silverware, and water. I will be back especially when family is in town. I just hope next time the service will be 5 stars because the scene is for sure. read more

I love this place. So classy and usually has amazing vibes. I went with my boyfriend last weekend. We were sitting waiting for our beverages and chatting, when all of a sudden a really sketchy dude walks up to us and sits down at our table. He obviously was on something and it made us both very uncomfortable. He was staring at my purse and giving my boyfriend weird looks. Not sure how he even made it past the hostess stand. It was a few minutes before any of the staff came over to our table to say something. It was a really uncomfortable experience that me feel unsafe. And neither of our drinks we're compensated. There aren't enough wonderful things to say about Cooper Lounge. It's my new go-to place. My friends and I dress up to the nines and come here on the weekends. We enjoy feeling like we're living in the roaring 20's which is exactly the environment that Cooper Lounge offers. The Dirty Martini's with Bleu Cheese are perfection. The bartenders, ever professional. The decor, flawless. The martini stirring glass----wait, did someone say "martini stirring glass??" Who uses that anymore? Me, I own one at home on my bar cart! As I feel, everyone should. Every drink comes with a small ramekin of assorted roasted nuts. A lovely touch, for a lovely place. The Lounge overlooks the lower level of Union Station and is tucked away from the unknowing patrons below.
